Hey folks, Lauren Chippen here with a brand new podcast from yours truly. The show is called Breaker Whiskey and it releases every weekday. That's right, every day. I've been making audio drama for a while now and I wanted to challenge myself to make an ongoing show that I didn't have a perfect plan for, something I could discover along the way.

That's what Breaker Whiskey is. Each episode is under five minutes, and while I have an idea of the larger story points, I don't know exactly where the road will take me or what will be at the end of it. So what's it about? Well, in 1968, two women find themselves in rural Pennsylvania during what turns out to be some kind of apocalyptic event.

By the time they discover that everyone else is gone, it's too late to figure out what happened. Despite not liking each other at all, the women work together to survive. Until six years later, one of them sets out on her own, driving around the country to find other survivors. This is her story. Head on over to Breaker Whiskey in your podcast app to subscribe and stick around right here to listen to the first episode. This is Lauren, signing off. Breaker, Breaker, Channel 19. Is anyone reading?

Breaker, breaker, this is Whiskey Alpha Romeo. This is Whiskey Alpha Romeo calling out. Once again, that's Whiskey Alpha Romeo currently along I-80. Breaker, breaker. You know, I just realized how bad those initials are, but that's the rule, right? W for east of the Mississippi, which, isn't that a bit backward? Shouldn't it be W for west?

Anyway, W for east of the Mississippi plus the initials of your name, but, I mean, still, war is a bit... Whiskey, I guess, is okay. But that'd be the part of the call sign that everybody in this area has, so... Not really specific. And again, it doesn't seem like anyone is here. So, no other W call signs to mix me up with. So, if you are listening somehow, whiskey is... I don't have a number. Um...

I don't technically have any kind of license, actually, but who would be giving them out, right? I mean, in that case, I guess trying to stick to any kind of convention is sort of pointless at this juncture, so I could have picked any old name, but I mean, we all have to hold on to whatever bit of structure we can to stay sane, right? And I don't know, I have the pamphlet for this thing, and it feels like I should follow it to the letter.

You know, this radio has been sitting in our garage for five years, and this is the first time we've sent a signal out? I mean, we are remote, yeah, but that doesn't mean that we couldn't- Sorry, not we. The first time I've sent a signal out. So, Lord knows she never did either. And never will. I mean, I doubt she'll even notice that this is gone. And she certainly won't miss it. I mean, she's not gonna miss any- Here I am, clogging up the airwaves. I'm pretty sure that's bad etiquette, actually. Um...

If no one's listening, there's no one to offend. So, uh, anyway, uh, like I said, Whiskey Alpha Romeo along I-80. I'll stay on this frequency for the rest of the day. I'm signing off.
