This is what life is.
Miles, how's it going? And what are your initial thoughts on the upcoming season? We will never be clean from our sins, Pete. Let the raid fall down. Yeah, this was an interesting season to look at. The things that I am excited about are pretty not the things that are popular as far as season ones of things go.
So I'm interested to see your thoughts on it because I think there's some interesting stuff this season, but I don't know how much of it's going to hit with me. Also, there's some really good sequels this season that we'll touch on at the end. But we do get some... It's always good to have more...
you know, shows continuing. So yeah. Yeah. Uh, for me, this is like, if you're like an anime fan, like if you like anime and like all things anime, I think the season is stacked. I think there's so much that you can dive into. Um, we have like our super high popular Shonen series with, uh,
Fire Force and Windbreaker coming back and we have like new a brand new original with like one of the biggest names attached to it and we also have like really fun and I think interesting concepts for shows coming out so if you're a fan of like the broad spectrum of anime I think there's gonna be a fantastic season and I'm really looking forward to I think I have something like 21 shows on my plan to watch so I got a lot yeah I think the season is going to be great I
um yeah why don't we just jump into our first one i kind of even mentioned it it was uh
Attached to it is Shinchiro Watanabe, creator of Cowboy Bebop, Carol and Tuesday, those properties. And it's MAPPA at the helm with the new original property, Lazarus. The year is 2052, an era of unproceeding peace and prosperity prevails across the globe. The reason for this? Mankind has been freed from sickness and pain. Nobel Peace Prize winning neuroscientist Dr. Skinner has developed a miracle cure for all...
A miracle cure-all drug with no apparent drawbacks called Hapuna. Hapuna. Let's go with Hapuna. Hapuna Bacada, or whatever it's called. We'll find out soon enough. Soon becomes ubiquitous. Essential. However, soon after Hapuna is officially introduced, Dr. Skinner vanishes.
Three years later, the world has moved on, but Dr. Skinner has returned, this time as a harbinger of doom. Skinner announces that the Hapuna has a short half-life. Everyone who has taken it will die approximately three years later. Death is coming for this sinful world and coming soon.
As a response to this threat, a special task force of five agents is gathered from across the world to save humanity from Skinner's plan. This group is called Lazarus. Can they find Skinner and develop a vaccine before time runs out? I will keep it 100 with you. I only knew about, like, MAPPA attached to this and Shinshiro Watanabe attached to this. I did not read the synopsis until literally right now. I saw the preview or the PV and it looked pretty cool. This is like, what? This is limitless, but, um...
They know who makes it, and then they have to... Oh my god, have you ever seen Mission Impossible 2? No. Okay, in Mission Impossible 2, Tom Cruise has to find this vaccine in 22 hours, or the person that he loves dies, or whatever. It reminds me of Mission Impossible 2. That movie was terrible, by the way, so...
I was really hyped coming into this and then reading it. Uh, not as much, uh, miles, your thoughts on Lazarus. Okay. Well, I'm glad to hear that. So socks and I had a conversation when this dropped, right? When they first dropped this, uh, description, what feels like forever ago. I have no idea what happened. It could have been two months ago. It could have been a year. I do not know. Um,
But, like, this seems kind of... I think it seems kind of stupid. It does. I mean, obviously I'm going to have to watch it. There's, like, enough interesting stuff here. But, like, some of it just doesn't make any sense. Like, the... Okay, so if the drug's half-life is three years, that's actually, like, insanely long. That's, like, absurdly long. You know, so, like, a half-life would be how long it would take for, like, half of it to be...
removed right from your body so like think about when you take Advil you know how long until you need to take more Advil if you're still in pain four hours yeah so like you know three years is like forever and like I also curious about how a vaccine will work when it's like you're taking a drug or
it's not like impossible or anything i guess but like yeah uh tell us more science man because i reading it seems plausible to me but so i i mean okay i i don't work with vaccines right like i usually work with like antibodies and stuff like that but um and antibodies could like do that so i guess you could you could do like a something i don't know the whole thing just seems sort of
fantastical to me like it's like oh it has a short half-life it's three years but you die after you take it but we need to find like a vaccine but like the vaccine would like presumably remove the drug or like help break it down like I'm curious if it breaks down in like a way that is harmful to you like it's you know but then why didn't anyone ever do any fate metabolism studies on it you know it's fine it doesn't matter it's a sci-fi show um
So this also might be one of those things where it's like weirdly connected to like my line of work and therefore I'm like, later to think of this thing that no one besides Well, according to my calculations No, you know, so like The C6 protons Yeah, yeah, the C6 protons Sure, that almost makes sense As you can tell, I haven't picked up a chemistry book since 10th grade Oh, goodness Um
But yeah, I mean, I'll be interested to see it because of like the names and stuff attached to it. And like, I don't like maybe something got lost in translation of the synopsis. Maybe it's kind of a dumb premise, but also just good. You know, like it's not like there's never been a show that isn't sort of stupid, but also very good at the same time. You know, so if we get the character work we get from something like Cowboy Bebop or Carl Tuse or whatever, then like, okay, yeah, sure. It's a little dumb, but
the basis is there, you know, but I'm just not completely sold on this, I guess. Even the, speaking of Cowboy Bebop, like the, like the picture for like the preview art for the show looks like Cowboy Bebop even has like the color gradients of like the characters in the art. So it's, it's very reminiscent of Cowboy Bebop ask.
I just hope it's more Limitless than Mission Impossible 2. If it's dumb, silly fun like Limitless was, I'm all for it. I love that movie. It's not good, but I've watched it 12 times. Yeah, okay. The part where he drinks the blood...
to get the drive. I was just like, oh, come the fuck on. Like little 10th grade Adam was like, this is stupid and not how it works. Yeah, but who cares? But it's fun. But then Mission Impossible 2, I've seen it exactly once and unless I'm paid for it, I will probably never see it. So lots of big names attached to it. Really hoping that this is better than what I think of it right now. But surface level, I...
I was pretty hot coming into this. Now I'm kind of just like whatever on it. Like, I'll watch it for sure. But I mean, it's like, it's airing on Adult Swim. I don't know if like Adult Swim paid for it or whatever or helped fund it. But I don't know. The last six anime that Adult Swim has helped have been massive duds. So are we getting another Uzumaki? Are we getting another Yasuke? What are we getting from Adult Swim like
I don't know, maybe like co-produce or something like that with this, but... Yeah, I... Doug looks cool. The character Doug looks badass. He wears glasses. I don't know. Outside of that, like, it looks pretty... You should check out Abel. He also wears glasses. Yeah, but he's like old. He looks like, um... Have you ever seen... Yeah, I know. I was just pointing you up. You ever see Kingsman?
No. Oh, damn it. Then I can't make it. If anyone's seen Kingsman, the dude Abel looks exactly like the guy who helps all the new recruits. The only scene I've ever seen on Kingsman is the one where you see that girl's butt.
Oh, what? You haven't seen, like, the church scene where he, like, murders everybody in the church? No, I just saw the butt scene on Reddit once. That was it. Okay, well, what was that subreddit? Hit me up later. Yeah, yeah, for sure. It's slash rkingsmanbutts. It was, like, a really random find. It's just the same picture over and over again. Yeah, I've been coming into this. I had this as, like, a must-watch. Now, I'm probably just, like, I might just, like, I mean, I'm going to watch three episodes at least, but...
Very whatever on it. How about you? What's your heat gauge coming into this? Yeah, so I think if you're someone who's listening to this episode because you want to hear our opinions on all the seasonals you know you're going to watch, this is still a must-watch, if that makes sense. People who...
know what they want and are going to watch, you know, 20 seasonals and are really into the anime community or whatever. I think this just has enough like big name and sort of legacy stuff behind it that it's worth at least checking out. Oh, what?
I'm so blind. Dude, Mom Rubiano is the main character. Of course. Just kidding. This is an absolute must watch for me. What am I talking? What am I smoking? I thought he was only in the other show this season. JK. No, he plays Walmart Spike. That actually looks like Mom Rubiano. Like, straight up. Yeah.
And I think if you're someone who is coming to us because you watch a couple of seasonals and for whatever reason you care about our opinions, this is something that I would wait a couple of episodes on to see what the general feedback is. You know, if you're like, okay, I'm going to watch like three seasonals and I just sort of want to wait to see which ones will pop off or whatever, because I,
I could see this. I think it'll probably be at least okay, but I could also see it being bad. So it'll be interesting to see what happens. Okay. So that's an absolute must watch for me. No, I have no issues with anything going on with it in Mamoru. We trust. And we have miles where you're like, not as high as I am because who can't be miles. Why don't you take it to the next show? I mean,
Is he ever been in a show you didn't like? I'm looking at what he's done really quick. He has. He's in Bungo Stray Dogs. Yes, I don't like Bungo Stray Dogs. And then he's also... Vampire Knight. I don't know if you've seen that. No. He plays the kids cartoon TV show host. I think that's him. And he hates his life and hates his job. I didn't really like that one. Oh, yeah. You thought that was a little same-notey, right? Yeah. Wasn't a big fan of that one. That was okay. Okay.
He's in 47 versions of free. Makes sense. I didn't even realize there was that much free content out there. There's a lot. Yeah, there really is. Okay. He's in Blue Lock. Is he now? Season two. Yeah.
He must have got paid the bag because who would ever take that role? So fake fan unless you catch up. Okay. I will be previewing Mobile Suit Gundam G-Cooks Amate Yuzi Oh god.
God.
identified Gundam mobile suit pursued by both the Space Force and the police appears before her along with this pilot, a boy named Shuji. Now their world is about to enter a new era. So I have seen the first three episodes of this. Yes, please spit. And I won't completely spoil it, but what I will say is that this should be technically standalone, right? You don't need to have seen other Gundam, though it is sort of like an alternative version
from the original Mobile Suit Gundam. So either having seen Origin or Gundam 79, I think would greatly enhance enjoyment of this. Though I do think even if you haven't, you'll just sort of miss some of the changes and current characters and stuff. But from what I've seen, the plot line is more or less self-sufficient.
This is written by Hideki Anno, right? Yeah, he's like a part of the team. I'm not entirely sure what he's doing, though, on the cast, but he's like a part of it somehow. So I would guess, yeah, probably script, yeah. Yeah. And when you see this, they made the Gundams look like Ava's, which is kind of fun. Like the way they move and everything is like,
exactly Evangelion. Pete, what are your thoughts here? Oh, even the main character named Shuji? Hmm, that sounds vaguely familiar to an Evangelion character. He's too fucking cool to be Shuji. Okay. I do see that Char is listed in the cast, so that's fun. He is, yes. So getting more Char would be really cool. I mean, I like these standalone characters
Gundams, I think more than like the actual like series itself. Like I was a big fan of Witch from Mercury. I haven't really seen Iron-Blooded Orphans, but I'm assuming I would like that. Did we watch Origins? What did we watch for... We watched Origins. We've watched Origins and we've watched... War in the Pocket? Okay. Okay, so I will have some...
reference to it. I think this looks dope. I mean, Evangelion is one of my favorite things of all time. So, I mean, I literally have an Ava tattooed on my arm. So like, I will be there, especially if it's Ava inspired and Anno's here. Like, I'm really looking forward to this one. Uh, was like, you saw it at like the theaters, the first three episodes, was there like, did it like look good? Did it sound good? Like it looks, it looks great. Yeah.
Like, the fight scenes were really good. The soundtrack was really good. It had a lot of, like... Okay, so I don't know how these compilation movies work. I haven't seen, like, a ton of them or anything, but...
So I don't know if they're just like putting the ED over scenes that it wouldn't be in like a, in a like episodic thing, but it would like cut into the ED or whatever. But they had some like modern, like J-pop stuff playing during like chase scenes or different like Metro area main character scenes. And it was pretty cool. It's an interesting, uh,
melding of the two Gundam worlds that you sort of get, right? Where you have all of these shoulders and stuff, and then you have Char and the Zabi family, and all of the Xenon versus the Earth Federation and stuff, and then you have these three kids who are accidentally getting embroiled in that. So it's a neat...
sort of juxtaposition there initially and I'm sure it all gets intertwined but I don't know I really liked it I'm a pretty big Gundam fan and I like Anno a lot so it'll be interesting to see what people think but I mean everyone who I know who's seen the movie has really liked it so yeah I mean I'm looking forward to it it doesn't say how long it is I'm I have a feeling it's only gonna be one core but you never know I'm kind of surprised it hasn't been said how long it is I would say one to
two core. You know, we've had three episodes and it's super possible for everything to wrap up in another nine. But I think it might be a little rushed if they do that. So just guessing off of the first three.
learn from the mistakes of g witch and make it longer which got two core at the very least you know what i mean like so i don't know if we've ever gotten a gundam that's like a main gundam that's just like yeah i'm just trying to think with like this because i know this is a completely different property but like with the pvr and sort of like how the characters look and everything it reminds me a lot of like daizanomon or gridman or something like that um
I don't know how, like, obviously they're two different, like, franchises. Don't get me wrong. Like, I understand that. But, like, it looks like that type of property. So, yeah. I would love to see, like, more than one core of this stuff and, like, really flesh it out. And the characters look really fun. And if Shard is being back, that's a huge plus. So this is going to be my must-watch.
I want to give a quick shout out, mine too, to the Google AI. When I Googled how many episodes are planned, just to see if it was planned, you know, anywhere, it tells me that it's planned for two episodes. There you go. So shut up. I've actually seen one more episode than is planned to exist, which is pretty cool. There you go. Look at that, Miles. You have seen more than what's coming out. That's insane. They'll be looking for you. Hopefully they mean two core, not two episodes.
I think it's going to, yeah. So looking at it, they're like, oh, it's the 16th installment of the Gundam franchise. It's a series, not like an OVA or anything. I suspect we get at least two questions.
Hell yeah. But who knows? I've been wrong before. Okay. How do you pronounce... How are you pronouncing G-Cucks? It's G-Cucks. Okay. Even though that's not how it's pronounced, that's what we're calling it. So Mobile Suit Gundam G-Cucks coming to your local NTR theater this April. Moving on to our next show, we have The Beginning After The End. The story follows the strongest king in history, Grey. What a terrible name for a king. Although he possesses unparalleled
Unparalleled power, wealth, and fame. There is no one who stands by his side and he trusts no one. That's actually good. That's good. Never trust another human being. Never fully trust another human being.
One day, Gray suddenly meets his death and is reincarnated as a powerless infant named Arthur in a world of magic. Surrounded by a loving family and companions, Arthur starts to experience the joys of his new life that he never knew was in his previous one. However, during a journey, his family is attacked by bandits. Thus begins his second life filled with love and adventure. So, um...
This is like a super, super popular series. Like, Oh really? Yes. The being after the end is very popular and its fans are diehards. And everything that I saw from the preview, the PV as somebody coming into, I was like, Oh, that looks fine, bro. You would have thought that they like killed the author of this story, the way people were reacting to this online. Like,
All the people who read the web novel, I think it's either like a monomer or a web novel or something like that.
they were web manga web manga sure manga manga nasally i apologize for that pronunciation that's how cat pronounces it like they were so pissed like this shit sucks they ruined their show blah blah blah they ruined everything about the beginning after the end so i'm excited just for the sole fact that i'm coming into this as somebody who's
completely blind and if i like it i think this will be super fun to converse with people who read the web manga and uh watch the anime miles what's your thoughts on the beginning after the end yeah i you know it does bring me some amount of faith that people like it so much to me it sort of seems like
It's not quite this, but like a villainous thing, but with like a king or something, you know, they have like those villainous things where it's like, I was evil, but now I've been reincarnated and I'm nice now. And I can you, but I can use my abilities that I had from when I was like a jerky princess to be good. So like this sort of feels like that, right. Where you have this king and like, maybe he, uh, he like couldn't trust anyone. And, uh,
Maybe it led him to doing some shitty stuff. I don't know. We'll find out, I guess. And then he, like, finds the power of family and friendship and stuff, and he still has that experience to, like, roll back. You know, his new name is Arthur, which is not kingly at all, but does not invoke any sort of king in my head. I heard his nickname is Saber in this. Yeah, it's so weird. The beginning after the end, the once and future king, who knows? And...
So I think that could be an interesting angle. When I first looked at this, I just sort of thought this was generic, not isekai, but like fantasy anime with reincarnation elements number seven, you know? But people having really liking the source material is always a good sign. Them being so freaked out over one minute of preview is less of a good sign. They have the right.
Speaking of Cat, it's the same studio that did High Speed Atelier. Okay, but I just... An interview about cars where the cars do not touch the ground. Studio A-Cat. Speaking of Cat again. Yes. They also did stuff that isn't as bad as High Speed Atelier. Like what? Like... Look, that's a low bar. Uh...
I was like, I don't know if you saw their library. It's not good. I'm going to stick with it, though it's less meaningful than one might think. Hold on, real quick. Their highest rated show was Battle Game in 5 Seconds, a death battle game that has a 6.75. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah. High Spooled Out of the Way is really bad. But also, okay, I talk about this, and studios can absolutely suck.
Um, but I also think that like part of the reason high speed out delay sucks is because the writing is awful. The story is terrible. Um,
Would it suck if this got something suboptimal for how good the story is? Yes. Will I still enjoy this if it is a good, well-written story that isn't literally on Microsoft PowerPoint? Yeah, is what I would say. I think we see plenty of times studios can rise to the occasion when they get a work that isn't high-speed atelier. I remember when Oshino Co. was coming out, we had this discussion about
the studio because they had done Shikimori and I was just like, look, Shikimori sucks. That's not a problem with the studio. It's a problem with whoever wrote Shikimori. High Speed Atole was ugly as sin, but honestly, I wouldn't have tried either. You know, and none of these, no offense to whoever wrote these, but like none of this stuff is giving me like
hey, someone really should have, you know, like, I don't know. You know, it's like none of this really seems like a shame. Like it didn't get a top tier adaptation. Yeah. So I guess we'll have to see. It does suck if it sucks, but I'll be in it.
If as long as it gets, it's a good story. You know what I mean? And then, yeah, I don't know. I'm trying to figure out the way to say it so that people might have a little bit of hope. I mean, I watched the preview. It looked fine. Yeah. I also agree that it looked fine. Like I really, I think it's because the fans hold it in such a high regard that like, if it's not, you know,
Free rent or whatever. Yeah, if it's not Madhouse making this, it's like it's gonna be ass. It's like, guess what? There's only one Madhouse. And then right below Madhouse is, of course, Studio ACAT. ACAT, for sure. Yeah, there. My only issue with these type of shows is Mushoku Tensei ruined it for me. So as long as it's not that, I'm probably gonna enjoy it at least. So...
I have this at like a I'm like lukewarm on it it looks it looks fine the story itself looks fine I'm more hyped on it because of the reception of like my friends that have read this and they thoroughly enjoy it so
So more along the lines of hyped for that reason than more than what I actually saw on paper. How about you? Yeah, I agree with that. That's what has to be exciting, you telling me that this has held in such high esteem. I don't think you need to worry about a Mushoku Tensei thing. God, I hope not. Because it's set up that even if he was a shady character beforehand, it sort of seems set up in such a way that he would learn. Not in a Rudy.
It's like the anime version of how people say, like, no Diddy. Like, no Rudy. Yeah, like, this is, like, I don't know. Rudy took his new life and, like, doubled down on who he was. So I don't necessarily think this guy is going to do that. But we'll have to see. Yep, fingers crossed. All right, you want to take it away with the next one? Yeah, I will. Next up is not this.
Yeah, so next up, we have Witch Watch. This is Niko Wakasuki. She has finished her six years of witch training and is moving back to town by herself. As a new witch, she must choose a familiar to accompany her. However, unlike the other witches, she wishes to pick a non-animal familiar. There's no better companion than Morihito Moi Otagi, her childhood friend, who happens to be an ogre.
Morihito is vehemently opposed to being her servant, but he reluctantly accepts his fate after learning that a curse would revert him into a strange cow-tiger hybrid where he disobeyed a witch's order. We all stumble upon issues like this from time to time.
Every day. Yes. Due to Morihito's father leaving for a business trip and Nico's mother remaining behind in the witch's holy land, the two teens find themselves living together under the same roof.
Hooray! Um...
This seems like it could be fun. I don't... What do you think? I've read some of it. Yeah, I had to read some of it. Is it fun? Yeah, it's very fun. This author...
makes very fun properties uh he did astral lost in space and then he also did sket dance which is from like 2011 which was very fun as well which watch is a blast like i don't know if it's good i didn't read enough to like really develop any of the characters but the scenarios that they put themselves in is very fun it reminds me um a lot of like disastrous life of psyche k um
Okay. Where it's a little bit more hijinky and a little bit more having fun than actually developing like a real story. I'm about it. Yeah. No, it's, it's, it's a really fun property. I think it's like, cause this was like in Shonen Jump and I don't think it got like as much popularity because of like, it's like genre. It's mostly goofy. I feel like, and then it's like not super actiony. Like there is some, but it's more of like hijinks fights. I would say more or less like,
It's the same way, like how Sabrina, the teenage witch had fights, like not really, but it is technically there. Um, yeah, this witch watch is really fun. Uh, it is a split two core. So we'll get the first like 12 ish episodes of this season. And I think we're getting the other ones at the end of the year, but yeah, really fun show. Like, this is like, if you want an eight out of 10 comedy, I'm pretty sure which watches it. Okay. Color me excited for that. Um,
I like sort of bit comedy shows. Psychic K is amazing. So if we get some good comedy with a good reoccurring cast, I don't need any sort of depth or whatever as long as they make me chuckle. The magic that they use is like what they use it for is like
Not traditional. I think like he turned like she turns him into like a rug or something like that once because he's like misbehaving. And so then she like he like holds the table down while she's drinking tea. It's like that type of stuff where it's just like silly nonsense stuff. And I'm pretty sure there's an overlying story somewhere. I forgot. I read it like four and a half years ago.
And I only read like 30 some chapters, but I remember reading it and thinking like, oh, that was fun. Like every time I finished a chapter, like, oh, that was fun. So I'm going to have fun with it. I'm going to shoot for like an eight. If it's an eight, I'll get my, I'll get my money's worth. Yeah. Color me excited for it. I didn't really know what to expect from it.
But it does seem like it could be a fun, romantic subtext. Yeah, a little bit. Hijinxed sort of deal. Yeah, there'll be a couple the second to last chapter of the story. And then it's over. Yeah, as is tradition. Yes, as is tradition. Okay. You have any final thoughts on Witch Watch? No, that is it for me. Yeah, there's really not a whole lot to say other than it's fun. Yeah, which is... I think that's good though sometimes. No, 100%. I mean, like...
I can sometimes use things that are, it's fun. Yep. And that's, that's what it is. Agreed. And that's actually why I am reading this next one, because to me, I'm just hoping it's fun. And that is from old country bumpkin to master swordsman. I like the title a lot. I like that they used the word bumpkin. So that got me a little excited, but barrel, a self-proclaimed humbled old man is a sword instructor at his dojo in a rural backwater village.
In his younger years, he dreamed of glory as a master swordsman, but those days are long behind him. Out of the blue, he receives a visit from a famous former pupil who brings him a world-shattering news. He has been appointed as a special instructor for the Knights of the Liberation Order. With his life now turned upside down, Beryl travels to the capital and reunites with some of his former students. Elite Knights, an ace wizard, and even an adventurer who...
who's attained the highest guild rank possible but why do they all want his tutelage as far as he is concerned they clearly don't need him anymore can barrel live up to his new position and will he ever get a moment's peace away from his adoring students so one i gotta figure out what that freaking anime is called but there was an anime like this where it was like you know he's like
Oh my God. Someone, someone in the comments, tell me what it is. Cause I can't remember. So essentially, so he was like one of the four nights of like the demon King. However, he wasn't a demon. He was actually like a human, but because he trained under blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. He was actually like super strong. And then he retires from being a demon King night. And then like lives his life in the countryside. He ends up being like a wife and a kid. And like, I really enjoyed that show. Like, I like the idea of like, of like the retired old sword master sort of like,
trying to live life and then like something pops up and it's like, ah, shit, here we go again. Like God do this one more time. Don't I? So like the idea of that capital capsulates me more than what I actually think is on paper. I think that this show has like the, like the properties for me where I'm going to thoroughly enjoy it. And I'm going to give it like a nine or I'm going to drop it after three episodes. Like, I think it's literally one or the other. I don't think I'm really hoping crossing my fingers that this isn't just some like mid season,
looking whatever but i like how like gritty the main character looks like i like the fact that he has like gray hair like it's a i'm hoping the themes are a little bit more mature with him being the way that he is knowing anime probably not but you never know sometimes you get some goods so that's sort of like where i'm sitting at it this is more of like this is like
When you're drafting, like in NBA, like late first round draft pick, and there's a guy who has like the upside talent, but like he's not quite developed yet. And like, you know, I can maybe mold him into something. And if he is, he's an all-star. And if he's not, he's a first round bust. That's kind of where I feel with Country Bumpkin. Plus, I just love the name Country Bumpkin. Miles, your thoughts on Country Bumpkin? Yeah, I... Say it with your chest.
Yeah, I think this will probably suck. Yeah. No, for sure. Yeah, like, you know, you're like, oh, I hope it is more mature. So his four pupils are four attractive anime women. I did not see that, but okay. Yeah, yeah, yeah. You look at the cover. Yep, yep. I see it now. Oh, yeah. Oh, okay. She's okay. All right. Right. So we have Scandally Dressed One who looks a little fiery.
We have slightly more proper, but still like our little Kudere type who's like more reserved. And then in the background, we have like a rich lady and then the Genki girl. Yeah. Okay. So there you are. Oh, I was saying everything before. Just kidding, guys. It was all a facade. Yeah. I think that this...
This will not give what Pete described. I do think this sort of seems like the show. If you were, like, looking for... What's the show where he's atomic? Fucking... Oh, my God. What's it called? Eminence of the Shadow. Yeah, okay. So if you're looking for Eminence of the Shadow, but with a main character that Pete will like more, this feels like this could be that to me, right? Oh, God. You're bringing up something from my past that I...
When that was trending on Twitter, this is just as iconic as Gear 5 Leafy. It's just like, I am Atomic. I'm like, you need to go touch grass. Yeah, because the art of just him looks like you have this haggard old vet and stuff. I like that, yeah. I just wonder how that's going to mesh off of your four big titty anime girls. And this isn't me trying to say that like...
for big titty anime girls is bad it's just saying i don't think we're gonna get what you just described because of the presence of no for sure and if if the cast had more than one dude listed i think there's another one no way who yeah drought henbris yeah yeah yeah he's the other one on the cast sorry not counting the main dude okay that's my bad that's my bad yeah uh
Whoever Shu Puru is has a male voice actor and they don't have a picture. Okay, I'm going to change this up. I hope that this is like Wistoria then. I hope it's fun. I'm grasping at straws right now. I don't know. I do think that's a lot more achievable. I think you can have him. You can have some good moments with him.
And then I think you have your cast of characters in the background. Best girl is Lucy Diamond, by the way. What a damn. Yeah, that's why I picked her. With my luck, she'll end up being like 12 or something. Lucia Citrus is also a great name. Yeah, top tier names here, honestly.
Yeah, not bad. I like the name Beryl for a main character. Yeah, I like Beryl. He seems interesting just the way that they've done it. I just sort of fear that the trappings around him will be generic, but this is something that I'll probably watch one. You know how you said I'll watch three and then drop it? But I'll watch one. Or I'll let you know how it is. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Those are the two options. Like,
There's a chance I just watch one episode of this and then just go, no, no chance. And you tend to be a little bit more hopeful on things like this. You're like, oh, I see the path. I see the angle. And like, I'm just not willing to do that. I need the wide open road. The shows like this where like I'm grasping at straws, like 10%, I'm right.
But when those 10% hit, it's, like, so much fun. Where, like, on paper, like, what's the Otome game? Where, like, on paper, that looked terrible. And it was fine. But I had so much fun with it. Like, that show is such an anomaly to me. 100%. Because, like, it is both... I don't know. I would love to see it on the does it like women thing. Because I think it, like, both doesn't and does like women. Like...
simultaneously yes um in a in a sort of unique way that i haven't seen before but yeah that's definitely one of those we all sort of liked that at least kind of in the discord um
Okay. Any more thoughts here? Where I started and where I ended are two different, but I'm going to be hopeful. I'm glass half full guy, so Miles can play glass half empty. I'm here to bring your hope down. No, I get it. And you're right. You're right to bring it down. But for right now in this moment, I'm holding on for hope. Okay. I think that's fair. All right. Hit us with the next one.
Why is it called from Old Country Pumpkin to Master Swordsman? He was already a Master Swordsman, right? Well, I think they said in the synopsis that he doesn't really value himself as a Master Swordsman. Yeah, yeah, yeah, for sure. Yeah, okay.
So maybe he like showcases his potential. How long ago could he potentially ever trained these women? You know what? This isn't here. We'll find out. So something isn't nothing, but that's okay. Um, the next one is, uh, Kowloon generic romance. Um, and this is a romance sci-fi adult cast workplace sign in. So I thought this would be fun to talk about. It's got a lot of you elements, got some me elements. Um,
In the distant future, individuals who adore the old way of life live in the Kowloon Walled City, a slum city that serves as a refuge for those who long for the Hong Kong of the past. Realtor Reko Kujira, however, craves for the new and exciting places in the area. In contrast, her only co-worker...
Um, Hajime Kudo enjoys the nostalgic nostalgia of the city invokes and is put off by anything modern that seeps past its walls. But despite their differing views and constant bickering on the most mundane of things, um,
The two often find themselves enjoying each other's company. I wonder what will happen. One day, a prank goes wrong and leads Hajime to make an unexpected advance towards Reiko, which he swiftly apologizes for. I imagine he trips on her and grabs her boobs. Baffled by his actions, Reiko starts investigating for possible explanations, only to discover...
only to discover a past she has no memory of. I think there's a lot of interesting things here. One, it is ballsy to put
the name of your romance in is generic romance um that gives me hope my thought is that this is some sort of like truman show memory erasing thing where they are like on tv or something they've been like mind wiped or something and they're used to like play out these scenarios for people outside of the city and they do that and then they also have romance i don't know i have literally no clue but i think something like that could be interesting and there's like a lot of
me sort of like conjecturing there, but I think it makes sense. And I think whatever this mystery sort of seems to be with her mistaken past could be interesting, right? You could bring in a former love interest. You can bring in a lot of different aspects with like an amnesia sort of thing like that, especially when it starts off.
At the beginning. What are your thoughts here, Pete? Yeah. So if you watch like the pre the PV video or whatever it is, like when she has like flashbacks to her past, it's like in black and white, which I think is a fun, like that's cool shift or whatever from when they're in like present day. I don't know a lot about Kowloon in terms of like setting. I know it's like a real place in real life. So like having this like Chinese themed, I guess urban setting will be fun. But,
I just gotta say, Reiko, one of the hottest characters I've ever seen. Oh, yeah, yeah. She's so hot. Like, especially when she wears glasses. Yes, please. Yeah, that is your thing. That is my thing.
We all have a thing. That's my thing. She is. He's hot too. They're both hot. He's hot, but like, she's like odd fire. I think she is unique as far as anime heroines go. I don't see a lot of characters. She sort of like hearkens me back to like, maybe like a 1980s anime, but maybe that's intentional. You know what I mean? But like, if I just think of like,
from like early like mobile suit gundam like a lot of these like girls had these like bob cuts and everything that is less common yeah but i wonder if that's intentional and some of the like the manga um i definitely think it's portrayed especially with like the filters that they use for like when they actually put color it looks a little bit older but like you said like like an 80s and 90s theme like i'm watching the brady bunch or something on tv land and it was like that
orange filter to make it seem like you're in sunny california but also in the 80s or 90s kind of has that similar vibe to it sometimes and uh yeah shout out to the pretty bunch which started in 1969 same i watched i watched it in the 90s true true true me too that's what i bet i know i did i do it okay just i do it did start in the 80s okay what i've just thrown out numbers
Facts don't matter. Blah, blah, blah. Sometimes I just see something that's old and go, that seems like the eighties. Yeah, exactly. By like three decades, 2005, that was like 40 years ago. Right. Um, and also 10. Yeah. You're right. Um,
This is my second most look forward to romance of the year. Stoney is a huge fan of this. I think Cozette and Jay have also read this and they are fans of it. So because of that, this is, I mean, it's romance.
For people who didn't know that in the Discord, it is my favorite and best genre. Have to make that clear. Have to make that clear. Shout out. Write in the comments if you know what Pete's actual favorite genre is. He's wrong, honestly.
I'm wrong about myself. I've only watched, I don't know, 400 romance animes or something like that. I'm really excited for this. It looks great. The setting is unique. Adult cast, obviously, insanely hot leads on both sides. Yeah, this is number three most look forward to show next season. Yeah, I mean, it's got adult cast, workplace, and romance. I figured that would...
be a Pete magnet. And then it's got a little sci-fi thrown in for the miles is out there. You are correct. Great. Okay, Pete. Um, why don't you, why don't you talk about this thing? All right. Next one we're doing is rock is a lady's modesty at an elite. All girls Academy were refined. Young ladies gather, uh,
Suzu no Miya, I'm just gonna do her last name, now the daughter of a real estate tycoon, after her mother remarried, is forced to abandon her guitar and rock music to fit in. However, her passion is reignited by the sounds from the old school building where she meets a skilled drummer who shares her love for rock. Together, they embrace their inner rock stars, elegantly clashing and shouting their way through the academy in this captivating tale of grace and rebellion. So, couple things with this. The first one,
The OP is done by band made who are awesome. They are also doing motion capture for the performances in this show. Sick. So like I'm expecting these performances to be fucking great. I think like the idea of like, you know, like the school of rock style thing where it's like,
i guess school rock wasn't like super prestigious but like they're at like the prestigious academy and like this is their form of like rebellion like i think that's like a fun teenage way of like getting back at the man getting back at your parents type of thing um like the idea of them like wearing like super proper uniforms and just like it's fun like the the cover image is very fun very very fun um
But shout out to Veronica who pointed this out. It is written by a man. So I don't know how great this is going to be. I think that there are elements that do cause issues when these types of shows are written by dudes compared to girls. So I'm not super forward to seeing how some of the interactions are because I saw some of the cover art for the manga where there's underboob. I'm like, that's super unnecessary. So I hope...
We don't get stuff like that. I really hope it's more of just like, you know, even in the environment that you are, like if your passion is something that's like outside of the dorm, you can still go for it type of thing. Like that's what I'm hoping that we get. So, but I am a little scared of like what it's going to present. Miles, your thoughts on rock is a lady's modesty.
Yeah, it'll be interesting to see. I don't know how big the author is, but, like, sometimes you have... So, like, Ryukishi07, author of, like, Higurashi and Yume Neko, there's, like, scenes in Yume Neko that he changed due to feedback from his, like, women staff members. Based? Where, you know, they basically were just like, I don't think...
a woman would like react in this way or whatever. And so he's like altered things or whatever. So that's sort of like, these are often, you know, I don't know about this manga specifically, but you know, people have editors and different contributors and stuff. And so I don't necessarily like, it can be an issue, but I don't think it always is. And then also if it is the anime staff has some amount of control over changing what what's going on, you know?
Um, so, you know, you can see things be toned down in certain ways if it is like the manga is like particularly like booby or whatever. Um, that said, it's not like the world's most promising thing, but it does seem fun. I'll definitely check it out. Um, you know, I, I guess I don't want to go in, um, poisoned, but it'll be interesting to see how it, how it works out.
What do you think? Yeah. There's a couple of things. Like, I think the designs are sick. Like I think like their uniforms look awesome and stuff like that, where like the character designs are really sweet. So props to that, I guess it's just more of the narrative of where it's going to go with it in the show. It does have the comedy tag, which I can see this sort of having a pretty fun concept of being, you know, it's, it's like baby metal. Like the concept of baby metal is hilarious, but like they also rock out. So yeah,
Are we only get something on the surface where it's funny. And then when it's time to display what you're made of, they, they showcase like awesome performances and great music, that type of thing. I don't think it's going to be as like, I'm not like, I'm not expecting. We had this actually in our girls may cry episode where it's like, there's the, the girl band curve where one side is Bochy the rock. And then the other side, I guess now it's probably Ave Musica and no longer girls may cry. But like, you have like,
Just vast differences in your girl bands. I adore Ave Mujica. It is like literally someone wrote a girl's band show for me specifically. And a lot of that has to do with how little girl's band is in it. Yeah, for sure. That's why it's on the opposite side of Bochy or something. Yeah, I think it's on like a... I would still do like a K-On to like...
you know like girls band cry or something and then it's like also you could have a murder mystery or whatever like it's gotta fall within the bell curve miles we have to find a way it's like yeah also you can like you know have this actually be about mental health or whatever um and like use someone's ability to play guitar as a vehicle for that um like what are we 12 episodes in and they've had two concerts um yeah sounds about right
Yeah, and that's because they've been having literal mental breakdowns the entire time. And, like, I'm all for that as someone who has had them and everything, but, like, it doesn't necessarily mean... You know, I don't know. If we were making a science anime about, like, my job, and in the middle of it, like, I have a mental breakdown and, like, don't do any science, at some point it stops being that, you know what I mean? Yeah, yeah, for sure. It becomes about something else. Yeah. Um...
But yeah, I expect this to be a little bit more lighthearted. You know, they'll get some pushback from the Dean. They'll get put on double secret probation, you know, and then they'll, they'll footloose. This is footloose. This will be footloose. Oh, little glee monsters doing the ED. I love little glee monster. Let's go. What else have they done? Oh my God. They have, I don't know if they've done anything like super popular anime wise, but,
But they have a very fun J-pop song about graduating high school that I really like. So very different having Band-Maid as your OP, which is like a rock group, like a girl band rock group. And then having Little Glee Monster, who is a J-pop group, is interesting. So interesting to see how the OP and the ED contrast each other. The Zen Shu OP. That's fun.
um ending this season of course yes okay so yeah i mean i on man i like i love like the girl band like wave we're getting right now there's not many girl band shows that i don't like um it's like outside of like what bang dream it's like og bang dream is like i pretty much enjoy most
girl band style of shows yeah i didn't like kaon too much kaon i was like okay on um i'm definitely more of a i started re-watching bocce rock literally yesterday and it's that show is so fucking funny it's so much funnier on the second time through but um i i love it from the the comedy side from bocce to the drama side of avid musica and girls may cry like it doesn't matter i'm more than likely gonna like this so i'm pretty high on this show
Mecha girl band win. Ooh, that's Symphogear. Fair enough. Also Magical Girls. Well, no, they're like android girls. Are they? I think so. They wear like mech suits. They're not like magical. And they're also idols. I don't know. I've never seen Symphogear. Neither have I.
Look, I'm looking at their outfits. Rifle, what a spell. What a symphagir. There's definitely some amount of magical girl in this, just looking at it. Okay. I would bet. Sure. Talk about Anne Shirley. Oh my god, okay. You know what I'm most excited about? This one? Anne Shirley. Have you ever seen Anne of Green Gables? No. Okay, Pete, you are going to fucking adore this anime. Let's go. I promise you. Okay. So this is...
Anne Shirley is based off of Anne of Green Gables, which is a story of an orphan girl who gets adopted and raised in the countryside and lives with two elderly parents who weren't able to have a child of their own. She finds a young boy that she falls in love with. She has friends and stuff. It is like...
just so amazing. It is, you know, I'm trying to think of, like, scenes I remember from watching Anna Green Gables as a child, but, like, she goes over to her best friend's house to, like, get jam or something, but they, like, get drunk instead, and, like, you know, then her getting in trouble for it or whatever, you know, because they had, like, cordial or whatever. And then just, like, the various... She's very, um...
like self um like i don't know she like speaks her own mind a lot it gets her in trouble um but you know she won't stand for like taking anyone's shit or whatever uh she is amazing um i love anne of green gables i really hope that this this adaptation does justice because it is amazing amazing story that's what's up
Yeah, I really do think you'll like it because I think it is the most pure slice of life thing ever. You just see this girl's life and the drama and the happiness and the little minor things as she grows up. And it looks like it's from 11 to 17 here, but the book and the TV show went on longer, so I don't know what we'll get. Okay.
Okay. So we are, we're getting two cores. So that is awesome. Everything you said sounds incredible. I know literally nothing about this. Bad news though. It's the studio that did Tower of God season two. So it's, it's Anna Green Gables. They don't need to do anything. Okay. Sick.
Like nothing, like, oh, like maybe she has to chase a cat outside and that's as much Sokka as we'll need. Actually, like the PV art looks really good. Like it looks way better than Tower of God season two. Yeah. Good. This is the correct thing to like plug in like effort for. Anne of Green Gables is amazing. Okay. Awesome. I'm really looking forward to it. I didn't know that there was like a, wow, she has a huge forehead. Yes. Yeah.
She looks like Takagi-san. Old Five Heads back. Let's go. Okay. Yeah, this sounds incredible. I really cannot wait to watch this. It sounds so much better. I guess on the surface it looked like something I would watch, but based off what you told me, it sounds like something that I need to watch. Okay, think about it this way. It is like pure slice of life.
And it is probably in like my top 20 media things ever. Holy shit. Okay. Yeah. Okay. Let's fucking go. Obviously, I do not know how this adaptation will be, but like the original Anne of Green Gables, I adore. Oh, I have to check out the manga. It is. So you can even watch the people version of it. It's very good. Whoa, hey. Hey, this is an anime podcast, my man. Sorry about my apologies. I don't know about that one.
But there was an anime of this at some point. Yeah, it was a Canadian television series from 1985. Oh, so Cosette and Zing have seen it. All right, cool. Yeah, I feel like a lot of people have seen it. Cosette has seen it. I have seen it. I watched it. Me and my parents used to watch it, like, every day. Okay.
Oh my god, it's so fucking good. Okay, this is climbing my ranks of shows I need to watch. I hope it can live up to the hype, but I adore Anne of Green Gables. Hell yeah. Okay, that sounds awesome. I can't wait.
Next one, this is going to be super quick. I just have to get a shout out. That's Uma Musume, Cinderella Grey. Shout out to the stable. We're back, boys. Giddy up. We're riding along. I've heard nothing but good things about the adaptation or the manga version of Cinderella Grey. It has a different, I think, more along the lines of season two Uma Musume than season one.
And I think that there's like a character with shark teeth. So she's the second best character by gold ship. Gold ship is obviously the best horse girl ever, but this looks great. I like the design of the new girl. I like it. It looks a little bit more gritty, a little bit more dirty. Like the PV is like glass shattering around the girl. What's her name? Oh, oh, gurry cap. So looks great.
awesome looks awesome so i i have a question for you yep um new horse girl with shark teeth or twin turbo twin turbo is great and has shark teeth and has shark teeth let me because twin turbo also has drip which is gonna be really hard to pass her up but let me let me watch it first and i'll get back to you
To be fair, almost all the horse girls have drip. I would even reckon that 80% of the budget goes into their drip. They have insane character designs. It's so good. I really don't have much to say. I just wanted to give a shout out to this table. Do you have anything for Cedrilla Gray? I'll watch it. I liked season two.
It'll be fun to talk to people about. I think if I wasn't in this community, there's not a world where I watch it. I should have done my Ume Musume stuff that I have. But I am. And therefore, sometimes I do things so I can talk to my friends. And this will be one of them. Because I don't think it'll be that bad or anything. I suspect it'll be pretty good. The manga is really well liked. I'm just curious how much they're willing to...
deviate from some of the stuff that makes it sort of takes me out and makes me remember that it's like a, it's a gotcha game commercial. Yeah. True. You know, so this is the spinoff. So like maybe, but then also maybe not. It's, it's always on like, you know, it's weird where we've seen like bang dream, like kind of do that. Yeah. A hundred percent.
um so i wonder if other things will follow suit um or they won't we'll find out but i'll watch it yeah you definitely make a good point especially with like the gotchas centered around like girls bang dream is a great example of that so yeah i mean i'm super looking forward to cinderella gray
me too it'll be fun to discuss if like it or dislike it because i can be a hater and i'm like well in my comfort zone doing that it'll be fun or it'll be good and i'll watch a show i like you're either gonna like it or you're not gonna like it yeah and either way i win yes and that's if you guys want to talk about cinderella gray with us in the description below links to our discord come join it and we can talk umamusume and join the stable
None of the other shows though Just Cinderella Grey Next up is Apocalypse Hotel
Many years have passed since humanity vanished from Earth, yet the Galaxy Tower Hotel in Ginza, Tokyo continues to operate. At the center of its staff is Yachiyo, a dedicated hotelier robot along with other employee robots working tirelessly in various departments. Together they spend what feels like an eternity maintaining the hotel, despite having no guests.
As they await the return of their owner in the day humanity reappears. Now a small miracle is about to change everything for Yachiyo and her robotic colleagues. So, one, I think this seems kind of interesting from a premise, but there's two reasons that I wanted to bring this up. One, this is like the third or fourth mystery hotel show we've gotten in the last...
There's one airing right now. Yes, and then there was one before that, and I think that that is an interesting trend that I'm just sort of picking up on currently. Are hotels the new isekai? The new villainous, yeah. We'll have to see. Two, this is an anime original done by Cygames Pictures. Giddy up! From the aforementioned Umamusume. Now, the last time we got an original from them, that was Bang Bang Bravern.
That was good. That was very good. We all liked that show. It was a surprise. So this gives me some faith in this show. I'm interested to see if this show takes the horse money and uses it to produce cool originals. So based off the premise seeming kind of neat, the PV art being really cool, and then Bravern being good, this is something that I'm going to give a try that I don't think is on a lot of people's radars.
and wanted to just point out, especially to people who listen to us, who are more likely to like Braver, um, as shown by our anime of the year, uh, things where it came in like third or something. I got like seven or something like that. I don't know. Okay. It was insane how it did, um, for, for, you know, how popular it was outside of this. Um, but I think, I think this will be, this will be pretty interesting. Um, and I'm excited to, to give it a watch. Hell yeah. What about you, Pete? Um,
I didn't know anything about it until you read the synopsis. I like the idea of, well, it says there's no humans, but it sounds like there might be something happening where it's going to switch it up and it's just only robots. The robots are almost certainly going to become humans, right? Ooh, okay.
Okay. That's my guess. Having read this paragraph, I liked it. I like, so you haven't seen Pluto, but a lot of it was like humanity and robots intertwining. Like what is, what is a life? Like if I, if a robot has like sympathy and all these other emotions, is it the same? Yeah. So like, I love those style of shows. So if it's going to have anything remotely, like touching on like humanity with robots, I think that's awesome.
And I think that will definitely, the stonks will go up. I think I'm going to wait to hear your thoughts on it before I jump into it. Because this wasn't, I already got 21 on my plan to watch. On the turns table. This would be 22. So I need to make sure I can allocate time if it's worth it or not. So I'm going to leave it up to you on this one. And if,
And I'm going to need your best judgment because it does look, I like the idea of what it was presented in the synopsis. Okay, cool. Yeah, it's definitely something that I'm going to be checking out because I think it has some promise. It looks pretty cool too. I like the character design of the main character. And the PV art is beautiful. It looks like, it reminds me of like The Last of Us. You know, like foliage is growing into the buildings and stuff like that. But then like the characters themselves are like clean. Yeah.
Oh, I'm seeing the one from...
Where she's beneath the stars. Yeah, yeah. If you click that picture, there's another one. Yeah, and you see the other one. That does remind me of the last one. Yeah, it'll be cool. I'm excited to watch it. I hope it's good. Yeah, alright. Sick. Alright, the last show that we are going to be talking about before we get into sequels and other shows is Mono! If you know me, my second favorite genre is Slice of Life. So, had to bring in this one because it is from the author of
Laidback Camp, The Photography Club is in danger of shutting down, and The Cinema Club 2, fret not, for they shall merge and become The Sin Photo Club. Now members Sasuke, Ann, and
Sakurako are asked to be the main characters for the manga artist Haruno's latest work that's centered around action cameras. The girls head out to capture the lovely sights of Japan, experimenting with gadgets beyond photography, film equipment, and of course, chomping on the local delicacies along the way.
Reminds me a lot of laid back camp, but instead of camping, it's more taking pictures, taking videos of like your surroundings and just capturing the moments of like that. If it's anything like what Afro does with laid back camp, this is going to be
Literally my favorite show of the season. I like, I can't wait for this while we wait for laid back camp season four. Uh, we get mono in between. Uh, I know it's not as highly rated as laid back camp, but I'm still really excited because like, I love the art. Hopefully we get like incredible background and like, uh, soundtracks because that's what would make us laid back camp laid back camp.
And hopefully Mono is just that version as well, but just with a different emphasis on photography and videography and all this stuff. So Miles, your thoughts. I know you ain't watched this, but what's your thoughts on Mono? So is this...
at all related to laid-back camp there might be like a crossover i feel like there might be a crossover but it's it's i'm pretty sure it's like a different world it's the same author though same author okay because what this reminds me of more than laid-back camp looking at it is do it yourself a little bit yeah and so not that like laid-back camp doesn't have like humor in it but this seems to like you know you see pv1 and you see that little smile that the main character is giving um
That energy is something that I think is mostly missing from laid back camp or it's not as upfront because pink haired laid back camp girl gives it, but main Nadesh go. Yeah. Ren doesn't give it as much. Ren is like a little calmer. Yeah. And so I'm interested to see this. This doesn't even have like a slice of life.
thing it's a comedy it's a it's a size of life fair enough I'm not gonna complain about that I think that that sounds super real but I don't know I'll probably watch an episode or two at the very least maybe I'll like it on the PV art there is a picture that they have a it looks like a maybe a mascot cat and
It's wearing a helmet and they taped a camera on top of it. So that is awesome. Maybe we get some cat POV videos. I don't know if you've ever seen those videos where they tape GoPros on their dog and they just go run around. Maybe we get something like that in anime form. That would be sick. But this is... I love... Like Tadaku never falls in love? Did they do that in that? With the Chonky Cat, right? I don't remember. Didn't they do like a POV episode with Chonky Cat? Bro, that was like five and a half years ago. Okay.
I don't recall any of that, but... I forgot what his name was. I want to say it's Sir Mix-a-Lot, but that's not correct. Um, yeah. I'm looking it up. Yeah. Everyone run to Mal. It is... Oh, remember Rainbow Shogun? Yes. Um... They don't have that now. They don't have the cat's name? No. Fuck. Am I thinking of a completely different show? Maybe. Oh. Nyanko Big. That was his name. Yeah. Yeah, yeah. Okay. Yeah. Okay. Okay.
Okay, Sir Chonkolat was like kind of close. Yeah, I mean, he has big in his name. Yeah. Okay, great. Oh, okay. Yeah, I mean, that's pretty much it for Mono. Do you have any parting words?
No, I think it looks fun. I like the color palette. It's vibrant. It seems like it might be fun if you like these sort of cute girls doing cute things show. To me, it's one that seems more intriguing than a lot of them. Just like the way that it stands out and the characters look and all of that. So something to look into. Okay. Any other shows, non-sequels that you are playing on watching that we didn't get to?
Yeah, there's this interesting, I think it's from a Chinese manga, it's called Tu Bian Yin Zhang. Oh, Tu Bian Yin Zhang?
Um, you lose power or whatever. It's a sequel. So you have to watch to be heroin first. Okay. I won't do that. So that's on the door. Um, there's this, um, something else that looked interesting. It's like this historical thing, but it has like a ogre or something on it. Uh, sword of the demon hunter. I didn't really look into it, but it's like a relatively interesting, uh,
pv art um there's this like seven way step sibling i knew you're gonna bring that up uh romance i know you'll be watching that i was on me i was actually gonna make a note that i will not be watching that the children of the shi unji family yeah yeah yeah um so like everyone follow pete for for explanations of uh how good that show is or bad i suppose do you even read the premise of it oh i did oh yeah
Same author of Rent-A-Girlfriend. Honestly, I have to say, I admire... It's a hentai. It's a hentai plotline. I... And that's why I... Look. It's what are you doing, Stepbro? Type 6. Yeah. Okay, there's a few differences. And here are the differences. One, they surprise learn their step-siblings. Okay? It's just, bam. All of a sudden, they're step-siblings. Two...
And this is key. What the fuck was I going to say? Yeah, I don't know. I can't even... I can't even speak for you. Figure it out off the top of my head. You're out of pocket right now. Yeah, I had something in my mind about why it could be... Oh, no. You like shows that don't hide what they're trying to be. That is true. This is not hiding what it's trying to be. You are correct.
This is just like, you know, it's not dressing it up. It's not like here's this weird scenario where like maybe the sibling and like we all kind of just like the show anyway. And we pretend it doesn't have some weird cousin romance in it. Like ping pong. Like this just fucking does it. This is like, look, this is going to get messy forever.
This is going to be domestic girlfriend, but worse. And I just got to say for this specific instance, it's more that I respect that it does that doesn't mean I like it. That's what I'm trying to say. I respect. I really, I respect the author of rent a girlfriend. Yeah. I honestly, another, another thing where it's just like, what if some fucking loser had to pay for the service of all the girls that hang out around him?
And then it took him 743 chapters to do it. What else are you watching, Pete, besides that? Yeah, so shows that I am not watching was that one. I'm also not watching that underwear one. If you watch that underwear one, yo, you a freak.
you nasty what's the underwear one uh it is called please put them on takamine-san or let me put your panties on takamine-san no that's a big no from me uh will not be watching that um the shows that i will be watching though there's like a one where it's like
The main character is like a lady, but she's like also a gorilla. I think just looking at this, I saw this art and I was like, Pete's going to watch this. Yeah. Okay. So I think she's, she's just a normal girl, but she receives the blessing of the gorilla God. I don't know what the fuck that means, but it sounds funny. So I'll give that. This is just reverse fruits baskets. That's what this is. Oh, then I'm in.
I have no idea if that's true. Who cares? Facts don't matter. Reverse Fruits Basket, I'm in. But much like Fruits Basket, it is a reverse harem. Exactly, yes. Wink, wink. I will also be watching Guilty Gear Strive. I think that's cool that it's getting an anime. I don't know anything about Guilty Gear, but I love the art. I think it's really nice to look at. I remember going to Evo and watching the tournaments, and it was a really fun game to watch. So looking forward to watching the anime as well.
um another one that i will be watching is called are you gonna be watching the baseball one
Which baseball one? It's about It's like some guy goes to baseball games And the girl who sells Oh yeah 100% Let me get to that It's not about baseball it's about a baseball girl So the first one is The Dinner Table Detective It looks like a fun comedy mystery but Mamoru Miyano is one of the main leads So oh it's Mamoru Miyano And Kana Hanazawa Are the two main leads Like it's
It looks fun. The PV art looks super fun. Like, bright, flashy, awesome. It looks incredible. I can't wait for that one. I can't believe I missed all this heat. Are you watching this one about the college girls who eat food? Are you talking about the That's Journey one? Food for the Soul. No. Oh. An original animation about the daily life of five girls who just became university students. Fine. Add to the list. It's just food.
I am now. I am now watching it. There was another one that I was watching that I have added called Zatsutabi That's Journey. It's about a manga artist who gets fired, and so in order to inspire herself for her next project, she travels Japan and checks out the scenery and stuff. Did I not send that on our list? I saw that and thought Pete will like this. Oh yeah, 100% I'm in. I love the idea of touring Japan, looking at different...
whatever for like your art for yeah this really is a you it's a me season it's so looking at it and there's so much of it yes that is just like
Oh, God, it's crazy. And then the last one, you just mentioned it, the catcher in the ballpark. Those girls work so freaking hard at the baseball games. When I saw a baseball game at the Tokyo Dome, they carry around like six-gallon jugs of beer, and they run up and down the stairs and sell you 700 yen beers, which was so cheap.
And most of them are like, I guess this is from what I heard is a lot of them, they want to be like idols. And this is like a way for them to like build clientele. So like you become a fan of like a specific beer girl and you like only buy beer from your beer girl as if it's like your idol type of thing. It's a weird country. It's very weird. But, um,
I like baseball. It's comedy. The girls look cute and fun. I only buy my Fenway Franks from Steve. Yeah, exactly right. I only get peanuts from Bob. Bob's got the best peanuts. But in terms of non-sequels, the other two that I'm on the fence about, one's called Your Forma, which is like a complete
It's a light novel that's finished, so I'm assuming they're adapting all of it. And it's sci-fi, the art looks pretty cool, and again, Kanahana Zawa. Yeah, it looks cool. Kanahana Zawa's the voice actress. And then My Hero Vigilantes. I'm kind of over My Hero, but I heard Vigilantes is great. It does seem fun. So I might give that a shot if I have some downtime, or if I hear the soccer guy goes nuts or whatever, so...
Um, those are like some of the other shows that I'm interested, but let's get to sequels before we wrap it up. Miles, any sequels that you are looking forward to?
Yeah, there are a couple. Shout out to Fire Force, the first anime I ever dropped. There is Aharan-san Season 2. I will be watching that. I am curious what I will think, though, because as Pete and I have discussed at length, we have different views on romance. That's true. Pete likes when people are dating and romance is dead, and
And I like when romance is alive and people are trying to figure out if they want to spend the rest of their lives together. Yep. So spoiler for a Haren, but they do end up together. Now, the thing that gives me faith is that it is sort of less of a romance in my opinion, and more of a, uh, gag comedy. Yeah. A hundred percent. It should work fine. Um,
Who knows? Look, I don't think they're on Kiss, but they might hold hands or something. Oh, fuck. Hey, yo! Hey, yo! Hold up. Could you imagine? No! I don't want to imagine that. I... I can't believe I said that. That's... You're out of the pocket, bro. I'm gonna clip that. That's a YouTube short right there, baby. Um... That...
Talk about something that would not fit the theme of the show. Yeah. Literally. Yeah. Also, well, okay. Train going into the tunnel, it fit. Yeah.
And then there's also the second season of the Shoshimen series. Oh, yes. So I'm super excited for, like, seven episodes that are absolutely fire and, like, three episodes where they're like, I wonder how this pen ended up here. How did the strawberry frost get out to the cake? Yeah, and they just, like, talk about that for 20 minutes. Can't wait. So I'm excited for those two shows. What about you, Pete? I'm sure you have a longer list than me. Nah, not really. There's some other ones that, like,
People watch like the first season, like bye bye earth. I did not watch that. I actually listened to the OST. It was pretty good. So it's Kevin Pankin did it, but I'm doing the slime thing. You're not a, you'll let me, let me get to the, hold on. Yeah. Yeah. Let me get there. I've been killing slides for 300 years. I've been waiting since 2022 or 2021.
I really enjoyed the first season. It was a lot of fun. It's very homey. It's very comfy. I like what they are presenting in that show. It's a very me show, so I like that. But the biggest one, Windbreaker. I fucking love Windbreaker. The more I think about Windbreaker, the more fun I had watching that show. It's just fun, man. The cast is so fun.
and yeah i'm i'm sad i missed it honestly you can still watch it i can't pete i don't have time for anything other than coward that i am morally obligated to watch look you can watch windbreaker with coop like he's gotta learn how to fight somehow and he ain't learned from his dad so like learn from windbreaker first off i mean fair enough um
Yeah. The issue with Coop currently is like, he, he now has like agency as opposed to like when I was doing eternity leave and I could just watch, like I watched like 40 anime or whatever. Um, he's now like, can we watch little Einsteins or cars? And I'm just like, no, dad's watching something. No, we're watching windbreaker. Yeah. And then, so then I, you know, so I, I only get, I only get so many things sadly. Um,
Fair. I guess. I guess your kid takes president, I guess. We might get there eventually. Who knows? Yeah, turn Cooper into a Shonen Bro eventually. I don't know. No, he's a Higurashi fan.
But he'll be, he'll be a shonen bro. He's going to be a seven year old kid at some point. For sure. Yeah. A hundred percent. But I like a hard, I love the horn. I really can't wait to see more of just the goofiness that they have. And there's so many different elements that I forgot with like a hard family. They're in the PV art. So maybe they're included a little bit more in this and like the friend group kind of got established at the end of season one. So now they, I think they can do a little bit more. They Mal has this as like a, the, the theme is like love status quo and,
where it's like the dating, I think. Yeah. But like the romance comes like fourth, like it's, so it's like, it's, I'm expecting it just to be fun hijacking stuff, but like really like that show, Shuman and windbreaker are the sequels that I'm looking forward to the most. I'm also with you. I dropped fire force. I don't care how great it looks. I hated the girl who loses her clothes. Character can't stand her completely ruined the show for me, but happy for those who are still watching fire force.
Enjoy the first core, you'll get the second core in 2026. Are MAL genres not just alphabetical? I have no idea. Knowing MAL, probably not. I think... Okay, but I think they are. Everyone that I just looked through was. Okay. But there were only, like, three that had more than one. So, who knows? Sometimes they, like, add them later. True. But, like, comedy and sports, and then there's comedy romance. So, like, everything is...
And so that's why I think love status quo is probably ahead of room. Yeah. I mean, it's whatever. I'm not really watching a hard for the romance. I just like, I like their dynamic. They're super fun together. You know, like they did like the tick tock dances and stuff from the first season. That was super fun. So just have more hijinks with those two, along with everyone else that we got. I'm trying to think if there's anything else that we missed.
I don't think so. Japan gets the Kobayashi movie, so that means we'll get it whenever. Virgin Punk, I know a lot of people, at least in our Discord, are excited for Virgin Punk. That comes out in June. Don't know when we will get that. The fourth Princess Principal movie. I finally found the...
Oh, yeah, I'll watch that. I finally found the Panty anime. Oh. It was way higher up on the list. Yeah, it's way too high. Than I thought it was going to be. It's eighth on now. This kind of reminds me of when, like, everyone wanted to pretend Mirror Tights was worth watching. Yeah, that show was ass. Not that I watched it. Wink, wink. Don't look at my mouth. We all live and learn. Yeah, it was COVID. I was bored. Whatever.
Judge me for who I am now, not who I was. Okay. Any parting thoughts before we head out for the night? No, I think I'm a little higher on the season than when I came in. I think that, you know, the top level isn't there, but it sort of seems like the depth is. Yep. Now that we've got to talk a little bit more. So, yeah.
I guess that's where I'm at Yeah it was fun for me going like super high on Lazarus Being like oh whatever And then like Anshurly being like oh my god I need that now So that was really fun to digest Yeah I hope you like Hand of Green Gables I better I better otherwise I'm gonna hurt myself That's whoa Not that way And I was okay with that Not like Johnny Cash hurt Okay
Like, I'll just cry a little bit. Oh, yeah. Same song, but yeah. Yeah, but different. Okay, great. So your parting thoughts to your adoring fan. Yeah. Hi, Mom. I'm excited for this season. We'll see what gets narrowed down for me, unfortunately. Again, as I guess I've made clear in this episode and other episodes, you know, working, being a dad and a husband and all that stuff. My...
My days of 10 plus seasonals are behind me. And it was a very short period of time where they were with me. It was, but you know, I'm always excited to check things out and figure out which shows I want to. And it always does make me sad that I can't do all of them, but yeah,
I, as always, Pete love talking about anime. And I'm the exact opposite of you, uh, as a daddy unemployed and single, I have all the time in the world to consume all this. So I will take the blunt end of whatever is not picked up and we'll be discussing it. And actually we'll be doing like a first impressions in like a month or something like that or whatever it is. So, uh,
We'll have an idea maybe a little bit after three episodes to see where we're sitting on the shows that we are previewing now. But you should let us know what you are interested in, whether it's in our YouTube comments, Spotify comments, Discord. Let us know. I'd love to hear if we miss anything under the radar that you're excited for. I just want to share your thoughts on that.

We'll be talking a bunch of shows on a pretty...
Winter ended up being pretty bad, but it's whatever. I fucking said so. Anyways, I think winter's fine. It's fine. It's a really fine season, but...
Not as great as I thought it was going to be, but hey, we still got some heavy hitters, and we'll be talking about those next time. Is the reason it wasn't as good as you thought it was going to be just because Sakamoto Days is apparently a bit disappointing? Sakamoto Days is like, because everybody said it was mid, and I came into Sakamoto Days thinking it was going to be mid, and it was fine. Oh, okay. It's perfectly...
perfectly fine show. I don't know. We have stuff that I like. I do too. Don't get me wrong, but like, I'll give you like a hit. Like as much as I like season one of a hundred girlfriends don't really like season two that much. So what a hero, what a hero you are. Um, what, what, what would you say? You know what? This is other conversations, but we can talk after and you can talk with Cosette during, but like, I'm curious what the difference is. Um,
Between the two seasons. Yeah. And you know what? That's what we call the business. A tease. I'll let you know in two weeks. Exactly. My thoughts on a hundred girlfriends season two miles. Thanks again for joining me. And thanks to everyone out there. We will see you next time. Bye. Bye.
