This is what life is.
Hello ladies and gentlemen, welcome to What You Say Anime, I am your host Peter. On today's episode, after battling the long and grueling sludge of wrapping up 2024, we can finally talk about 2025 anime in our winter mid-season check-in. Today we will be going over shows that we are loving, shows that we are vibing to, and shows that got kicked to the curb. There will be some spoiler talk in these shows, so if you are not caught up or want to avoid it in general, in the description below there will be timestamps for you to jump around.
We'll be talking new properties first and then saving some time for sequels towards the end. Joining me today is my single co-host, Cosette. Cosette, how are you braving the weather in the Great White North and what are your thoughts on the winter season so far?
My god, we had a two day winter storm. So I luckily didn't have to step outside because my dog's not with me today. But yeah, it's been a very crazy winter this season. But in terms of the anime season, it's been fine. Obviously, it's not as good as last year's winter season. That was probably the best season last year, to be quite honest.
It's a fine season. There's a lot of surprises. I didn't actually drop as many shows right now. Usually around this time, I drop a few. But yeah, I'm really surprised with a couple of them. And then there's some that I'm like, so I'm excited to talk about them today. Yeah, I would agree. There's some shows I dropped just due to time constraints. I don't even think that they're necessarily bad, but
I have so many like big properties. I have to watch for our other episodes that are coming up where I just need to set some time aside. So the shows fell by the wayside and we will be getting through those later, but I would agree. I think the season's been okay. I think the sequels have been like great.
And in terms of new properties, I think there's a few standouts, but not as many as I thought there were going to be. So we'll be diving into those and talking everything winter 2025. So without further ado, let's jump into our first show. And right now it's my number one show for new properties in general. And that is MetaList. I was a little scared coming into this with Engie being the studio who has been nothing but mid. And I made the joke that
I'm really hoping that this is their Oshino Ko moment like Dogokoba had where they just elevated themselves. And I think that they have not to the same level as Dogokoba did, but they are doing a fantastic job adapting. We both read some of the manga. I think that there are some parts that they missed out, but I think in terms of like an adaptation so far, I think it's been very solid. Like I think they're hitting the beats where I needed them to hit.
And the voice acting and some of the other technical elements with this story so far have been fantastic. So I've been a big fan. Jose, what's your initial thoughts? We're halfway through Metalist so far. So what are we thinking with Metalist?
So it exceeded my expectations, honestly. I mean, the fact that it's on, at least it's on Disney here, I think it's on Hulu in the States, but that's only the one downside because not everybody has access to those platforms. But the quality has really exceeded my expectations. I tried to go in with not too much of a high expectation.
expectation because the art style of the manga is really, really beautiful. And I think anyone that enjoys the anime, I still think you should check out the manga because I think the art is just so fantastic. But I think the way that they adapted the anime, it really captures the spirit of the story. It's very positive. It's very beautiful. The way they animate the skating, I was completely surprised by. I think it was showcased the bus and Hikaru's performance. I was like completely stunned. I think I watched that scene a couple of times because it was just so...
magical they even like animated like the little dust like the snow that like comes off the blade when they glide on the ice i just i was just i love that detail so um but it's such a good underdog story and like i love mentor mentee relationship kind of stories and i think sukasa and inori is such a great duo oh yeah i'm so glad that everyone's falling in love with them because i think when i first read the manga that's the first scene that got my eye initially i
And I love that they both similarly have underdog stories themselves. Like, Tsukasa started pretty late in his life. Well, she thinks she started pretty late. She's still pretty young. So I love the story so much. I think it's so happy and positive. There's not too much drama. I think the only drama I remember from the manga was the first chapter with Inori's mom. But they pretty much toned it down in the first episode. So I wonder if that was a director decision or maybe the mangaka decided...
Let's not do that, because I don't think Inori's mom's like that in the rest of the chapters that I've read. But I've been really, really enjoying it. The OP's fine. Oh, really? I expected a history maker kind of vibe, not a shounen action vibe. So I was expecting history maker. I know. I'm a minority here. I love the OP. I think I'll learn to love it. What about the ED? Yeah.
it's cute it's so cute i love that it's so cute but the opi i was expecting like a history maker but like i don't think there'll ever be another history maker from yuri and ice so but yeah i'm really really enjoying it i'm really really happy it's what i look forward to every weekend hell yeah uh so at the time of recording we're through seven episodes this is about where i stopped reading the manga only because when i stopped reading the manga that got announced i was like okay i'm gonna wait for i like anime more than manga just in general so i was like wait till
we get through the anime but i'm more than likely going to be picking up the manga but you made the point where when i started reading this when i fell in love with metalyst was with the inori and her mom i i think that was handled incredibly well in the manga i think the anime toned it down a little bit but i think it was enough to where i think we got the point across
where I'm not as like disappointed as some like other fans that I see on like Twitter and stuff where it's like, if this is like your favorite property, like I get it. Like it's such a huge emotional scene. And just coming from me when I had to deal with, like I played sports my whole life and I got told like, no, for a bunch of different reasons for different sports. And just kind of seeing that through the eyes of,
inori's mom and kind of like her thought process because when you're a kid you dabble in like a gazillion things and when your kid's like oh i really love this like i want to do this and they're like do you really want to do it are you going to quit in two weeks and just how it was portrayed with inori words like she tells her mom like i like i this is my life like i know i'm six but like this is what i want to do and her mom's like
You can do it until you're 12 and then you're done. And then like that broke her heart. But like as a mother, like I feel like that's like an appropriate response. And then sort of showcasing Inori's passion made her mom sort of realize like, oh no, she's like for real and how that was handled. And I just thought that's what I fell in love with Madeline.
where there's a human side there's an emotional side to sports or performing arts or anything like that along the square it's not just how good you are with the the interpersonal like relationships you have with your coach with your parents with your rivals with your friends in the scene and i think metalist just handles this so well like there's an anime called baby steps which i i compare metalist to a lot because it's like the same premise of
someone starting from zero and then trying to get better that's with tennis this is with figure skating and baby steps is like a really nice sports anime in terms of just like uh like being melancholic where i think medalist does a great job at like showcasing the aspects of everything in us and i think it's just done so well like it doesn't need to have like like if do i wish kiyo animation did this absolutely like
But like the heart of medalists is like the characters and their relationships and their dialogue doesn't need to be necessarily perfect. I do think they need to do it in the actual like ice game performances, which I think they're doing a fantastic job at. Like everything wrapped up in this anime burrito has just been.
everything i wanted like i love medalist like it is right now on mal i have it at a 10 it's kind of a joke just because i want score to be raised um but like i really can't think of like a negative thing to say about it like i love the characters the relationship is growing when when they started out and they were a little timid with each other to the point where we're at like episode six
and su casa is like carrying her like a like a like they were like a partners and she's like waving her arms like she's a bird and they're just having a blast together like you're seeing those relationships develop and that's where i'm falling in love with most do i think it's a 10 maybe like i think it's all said and done like i usually try to pick like one show a season to like catch up on the manga and right now it's probably medalist though
I'm absolutely loving it. Is there any other aspects that like you're finding that you're like being drawn towards or anything else about Melis in general that you want to talk about?
I think I just want to shout out the dub as well because I was watching the sub for a lot for a bit of time and I thought I would check out the dub one day and I was like it's actually done really well and I like both like if dub people like dub definitely check it out I had a great time watching it so and it's nice to have both available in case like you have to multitask that was available so um yeah shout out to the dub cast they done really well yeah I mean I think the sub is
Great. And we'll be talking about the dub in the next show that we're talking about. Yeah. I mean, I just love Inori's sub VA. I think she's absolutely killing it. So good. So as of right now, where are you sitting on with medalists?
It's definitely on the high 8 to 10 range. I mean, who cares about the OP, right? But it's very well done. And I mean, honestly, it could be a 10 as well, just because it's done really well. It has a great heart. It's a great story. The animation's great as well, but I usually don't care about animation all the time. The music's great too. So I think it's going to be a close 9 to 10, honestly. That's what's up! Yeah!
that's also where i'm sitting too i think this is one of the best sports anime that we've gotten in a while i'm trying to think of like going back like i mean i also have like haikyuu like not really like i didn't like blue lock um i think there's any other like sports animes that came out and dancing dancing dancer was fantastic i love dancing there's actually a sports anime this season that i dropped
uh that we will get to i completely forgot about the blue box uh showcasing sports is pretty good too yeah and if you count the umamuse movie uh but yeah i mean outside of that like not a really a lot of standout sports anime so uh this is really filling my niche for sport so uh i also have my list as i said before i have it like a high nine low ten like i think it's great
I really can't think of a negative thing. I love the OP. I also love the ED. I think it's like my second favorite OP of the season, just in general. I think it's a banger. Bow and arrow is so, I mean, high praise for both of us. If you're not watching it, go watch it. If you are watching it, I hope if you dropped it, you better.
Okay, moving on to our next show. We have the big shonen property of the season. That is Sakamoto Days. I've seen so much negativity around this on Twitter, and I'm just like, I don't get it. I think it's very clear-cut what the show is trying to present itself as, and I think it's succeeding. I know it's not going to be John Wick, but it's going to be a John Wick style, and it's very exaggerated, even more than John Wick.
but so far like this family dynamic of not only his actual family but like the convenience store family that he's building has been wonderful like it's kind of like slice of lifey in a lot of moments uh i do like the like the contrast with him trying to like uh the earlier episodes trying to hide it from his wife and then him getting in trouble with like his fighting and stuff like that that was super fun like that's what he gets in trouble for for trying to protect his family but
You broke rule six and you're not allowed to do that. And then I mentioned it before in the Mellis one. I think the dub of the show has just been incredible.
I switched over to dub while I was like having something on the side of my side monitor. I was doing something else. I was like, oh my God, this is great. Matt Mercer is killing it as Sakamoto. Alex Lee as Yoichi has been great. Alexa Bliss. If you're a wrestling fan, he is in the cast. He did great. I think this is one of her like first bigger performances. So that was awesome to see. I'm just I'm thoroughly enjoying Sakamoto days. What are your thoughts so far?
Well, you know how I feel about shounen action. It's fine. You love it. You're a meathead. Meathead. You're a gym bro. Honestly, the show is like if John Wick actually stayed retired, he probably would have been Sakamoto with a wife and a kid. He would have.
I love John Wick. It's one of my favorite assassin movies. But anyways, Sakamoto, yes, the dub is fantastic. I think I started watching the dub pretty early on. I don't know the actors names, unfortunately. But I just I just loved the dub. I think it made it easier. I think it makes shounen action easier for me to watch, to be quite honest.
It's very cheesy. That's the first thing I caught on because I know that like the manga fans hype it up so much. So I know that people love it. So I was like, I have to watch it. Why not? But it's so cheesy with all the catchphrases and the puns. It makes it funny. But I think at one point I might get sick of it.
But I do like the different characters that have been shown so far. I love the fact that the wife knows that he was an assassin. I really don't like it when it's hidden. So I like the fact that she already knows his past history. So they're open with each other. They're actually a real relationship.
His daughter is so freaking adorable. I think like she's one of the main reasons why I love it so much because she's so cute when she gave that assassin like the band-aid. Yeah. It was so adorable. But I like the crucifer. I don't remember the names because I'm not good with shows like this. But I
I'm liking it. It's not like a 10, but it's a nice shown an eight right now, like a seven, eight. It's fine. But I do really like the dub. I think it makes it a lot of fun. I think the dub actors do a really great job. Sub sounded just as good as well. I just prefer that. But yeah, I think it'll be a fun time. I don't know where the story is going to go per se.
but i don't know it's been a fun time to watch so far and i'll probably make it to the end will i watch season two i don't know that's but that's usually most shonen actions for me so yeah it kind of feels like it has a similar vibe to like spy family a little bit where a lot of times we have like slice of life moments but then like the action is like really action-packed and i think that they're doing a really good uh job at doing both i was a little disappointed in episode six
the paintball episode i actually watched that today and it's it's not like it's necessarily bad i just thought the fight in episode three we're at the theme park was like really well done like the choreography was great the soundtrack like blew me away i didn't really expect that in this because like i forgot who'd like who's doing like the ost but like i wasn't coming into this thinking like this is going to be like a good soundtrack and then episode three is like damn okay but then episode six dropped
And there was like nothing like there was no nothing that stood out to me. The only thing that stuck to me in episode six was he like he threw the bullet and like broke his gun. That was cool as shit. But that scene was like four seconds. Like everything outside of that was like very underwhelming. I wonder if the manga did it better. But I felt like the whole setup for episode six and this like paintball for some reason they called it airsoft, but it's clearly paintball. And that whole stuff was like getting money and introducing people
That aspect of it kind of like pulled me away from the story a little bit. And this was actually something that I brought up in our Discord today. If you want to join the Discord, link to the description below. But it's sort of like pulling my attention out of the world. And this happened during season one of Fire Force. Did you ever watch Fire Force? Okay, well, I'll give like a TLDR rating.
and just no for sure there's a character i mean okay this is like shonen me had stuff like 101 there's a character who's super unlucky and when she's really unlucky she loses her clothes so it's like really fan servicey and there's a scene in episode one where like there's this insane fight with shinra or shiro wherever the guys save it and it's like it's balls to the wall insane it's so great but she's there
And like during the fight, she just like keeps losing her clothes. And it's like pulling me out of the world because it's like, what does this have to do with anything going on in this fight? Like punch, punch, punch, punch, punch, loses her clothes. So that's what pulled me out of season one of fire force. And it's not necessarily just the fan service. It's what is causing me to get pulled out of this world. Episode six of Sakamoto did that for me a little bit, not enough to where I'm like, I'm dropping the show, but,
But like the setup for this like paintball thing was so lazy. It's such a lazy premise to a story of, hey, Sakamoto needs money for his repairs to his store because all the assassins keep blowing it up. Guess what? There's a neighborhood paintball tournament for $100,000 or whatever. It's just like,
sure of course how convenient that is it's just like it's to me like that is just like lazy writing where it pulls me out of the world and then they're just like you know 360 no scoping these like random nine to five workmen who just play paintball for fun and then it's just like where is this going what is the point and the whole point was like to get set up with this new character and
showcase like sakamoto probably getting him to join his like team and i just thought like the step was so lazy and boring and it pulled me out of it i don't know i i don't think anybody really like anyone else was like that but to me like when i see something like that when you have something so cool as like episode three that's like the the theme park it's like
so many different ways to be assassinated with different things. Like you saw the janitor, um, you saw like these other characters, like trying to do things and like,
on the ride like it was more creative and unique and it's like okay cool i'm getting this with sakamoto like i like this this is goofy it's fun it's silly but it's not lazy and then episode six just so freaking lazy so i'm hoping to see less of that and more of what we got in episode three because i was really enjoying it up until this point uh do you have anything else that you want to talk about with sakamoto
I'm just surprised at what you're saying, but it's like, I don't, like, you're allowed to feel what you feel. I just didn't notice that with me because I was just like, oh yeah, like, sure. I think it's because I really, really liked episode. Like, episode three exceeded my expectations. Like, I wasn't expecting a banger sound. Do you remember, like, in Dawn to Dawn where they had, like, the running away scene and they had, like, the dun-dun-dun-dun-dun-dun? And it's like, yeah, like, okay, this is sick. That's what episode three was to me. It's like, okay, this is, like,
high octane they're fighting on a freaking roller coaster and the music is like getting me in the like the mood for this i'm like this is awesome and then they do episode six and it was a wet fart i'm just like like it was like it was like two sides of a coin i'm just like
I just feel like it's inconsistent. And I feel like a setup for something like that could have been handled better in episode six than just like I said earlier, random paintball tournament for money, time to introduce some new characters. It just felt lazy. What they're trying to do is introduce us to the amount of characters they want us to introduce.
So I think they're just trying to figure out really quick ways to introduce them. I don't know how many they're going to introduce us to. We're at like 12. Like there's so many characters. But like what's going to happen? Anyways, I guess we'll see. Yeah, I don't know. I think I only remember him right now because he has the bird, Pisuke, who like reminds me of Pikachu. He looks like Gonfreaks a little bit. Oh, he's Godfreaks then Sasaki and Peeps. He's Peeps. That's what it reminds me of. But I don't
i don't know it's a fun time it's something to just watch i'm not thinking of it too seriously but manga fans have praised it so much so apparently there's something fun coming down the road i guess so yeah i trust them i just want to say i like sakamoto days i just thought episode six was bad like i liked episode one through five which in episode three legit it was like a nine i had so much fun with that i thought episode six was lazy and boring
And hopefully I'm hopefully they switch it up and I'm wrong and I, I will continue watching. Like, I'm not dropping it, but like, I don't know. It just seemed like a bump in the road that was so unnecessary. I rated it up. I had to show it like a seven. I think it's like a pretty strong seven. I think by the end of the season, I could probably give it an eight. I think it's in like the seven, eight. How about you?
it's at the 7.58 range it's not bad enough from board which usually seven and below so yeah it's like a 7.5 and eight for now heck yeah okay uh that is sakamoto days moving on to honey lemon soda this was a show i read the first volume of the manga here's my manga just to prove it i've i've read honey lemons and i read one volume and i was like you know what this is clearly made for like a 14 year old girl this is not made for a grown-ass man like
But when the anime comes out, I will give it a watch. So I've been watching it. And the first couple episodes, I was like, it's okay. Like this is, I read it. I knew what to expect. And then we're right now. And we're currently recording this six episodes or else we're halfway through the season. And I've turned a corner. I'm enjoying this story more and more as we go along, because at first I felt like Uka was a character that,
where it was sort of like oh please save me please save me type of thing and then like you know superman comes in he's like i'll save you little girl type of thing and i was like okay like i don't really care for these stories but then i realized you know like there are people in this world that like not only need help but like want it too and so like i really kind of like changed my idea on on yuka a lot because i think that she's a character even this is like me in real life sometimes you just need like a kick in the butt to get going
And I think that she's realizing that like when a character like Kai comes into her life and starts at first, I thought he was a little bit pushy, but like sometimes you need that. And yeah,
I never felt like he overstepped his boundaries in doing it. Maybe a little bit, but not like super bad. And I think Yuka, if she, if this character wanted to be portrayed like that, but like, I think she needed that. And that sort of changed everything. And now I'm enjoying it a little bit more. There was a scene in episode six where like she volunteered to take Serena's spot. And then she was sort of being like,
harassed and then uh kai saves the day i thought that was a little over dramatic but outside of that i've been like really enjoying like yuka's development as sort of growing as a person and coming into her own shell having the confidence that like i think she always had but like was afraid to express it and now that she's a little bit more comfortable you seeing you're seeing that side of her a lot more and i think you're seeing it with kai as well with
his character as well was like a little pushy a little too hands-on and him realizing it sort of toning it back i feel like he only steps in when like either a she asked for it or b it's absolutely necessary and now that we sort of have like the cast like the friend group developed i'm enjoying it a lot more like her relationship with hayumi or ayumi has been fantastic i like her and like her sort of like love interest with sato i think that's the name satoru
and it's just it's blossoming into something that i didn't really expect to enjoy so i'm i'm liking it a lot what are your thoughts on honey well as someone who loves kimini todoke i love it it's really cute it's honestly it's a typical like high school romance coming of age story with like a meek girl who's really shy and you know she's trying to find herself trying to find her voice and then
On the way, she finds her first love, probably. But I think, like, Uka's story is nice because... I mean, it's not nice that she was bullied, but I think I like the fact that, like, we're seeing her progress each episode, gaining more confidence. She's not, like, hesitant every single episode. I think we're actually seeing some growth in her. And that's something that frustrates me in a lot of anime, where, like, they're shy the entire season. Yeah, 100%. So it's nice that she's growing, and I... With Kai...
Yes, he does. He is a little pushy, but he's not as pushy as some characters this season. We'll get there eventually. But I think with Kai, I think what I like with him as a male character, that's some, like, Kazahaya. He's nice, but he's not dominant in any way. He's not...
strong in any way that way. So I think I like that Kai is a bit more dominant. I think he defends her really well, but he defends at the right time. I'm worried that maybe one day he might just go too, he might be just too overbearing, but I think he's careful about that right now. I think he is the way he is because of some stuff in his past, which we'll probably get at some point, because usually that's what happens in shows like this.
One of the things I really love about the show is that we're seeing like a nice friend group already building. And I think we're going to get a girl group going with Serena maybe and everybody else, which I love. But I really like the show. I think it's really sweet. I mean, yes, some of it is a little cheesy, but I think I just I enjoy it every Wednesday. I think it comes out that one scene where like because her nickname was like Stoney. Shout out Stoney. Yeah.
But her nickname was Stoney and it was a very negative part of her life. And then he like turned it around and he's like, no, you're like, you're a gemstone. And you know, like the nickname she had that she hated forever is now something that means a lot to her. So I think that was like one of the sweetest moments. And I remember I was at the gym watching that and I was like,
trying to make sure i wasn't gonna cry in public but it was just so sweet i think it's a really cute show and i know that some people like it's pretty low on my enemy list right now it's like below a seven which is kind of disappointing but i think it's really sweet i hope we get another season because i feel like the mangas there's a couple more chapters so i'll probably read it actually there's a lot because like i think like each arc like major arc in their stories is like their first year their second year third i think right now they're currently in their third
So I'm probably going to read it. Out of all the shows this season, I'm probably going to read Honey Lums over because it just seemed like the vibe I'd be going for. So, yeah, I'm really enjoying it. The OP is so cute. That was like the first thing I fell in love with. It's so good. And so is the ED as well. I'm really, really enjoying it. I think it might be like I might just give it a 10 right off the bat. Whoa, what? Yeah.
interest i just there's nothing for me to hate about it right now i just really really like it so but we'll see it's early to say i just i really enjoy it's the one i look forward to pretty much every week next to the medalist so yeah i just i do like that you brought up kazehaya because i do think there's a lot of like humanita doke vibes yeah with it and like you said kazehaya like if you had like a
like super like super green flag sometimes it can be a red flag like kazahaya is like too nice sometimes and like kai is like i i feel like he's in a ground where like i think i would love to see this in the show we're like i think his heart's in the right spot but i would like to see him like sort of over push his boundaries and like learn from
I think there's a lot of growth opportunities because they're like 14, 15 or whatever. There's a lot of opportunities for them to see the growth that I look for in these style of shows that I'm I want to see from Kai because like I'm not super high on Kai as a character, but I'm like as each episode happens, I like him more like it when I was when I was reading it. It was never the issue was never like Yuka or the friend group. It was Kai.
Just because if I was in this position, I wouldn't want to be him type of thing. For as much as I give Kasa Haya some issues, I won't give it the same thing with Kai. I just want to see a little bit more than just the quiet boy, but he's strong and stand up to injustice. I want to see something more from him. I want to see a different side of Kai. I'd love to see that in the story. Because I feel like he's hiding a lot.
like you said I bet there's some stuff from his past that has made him the person that he is now and I would love it if we got like a blue period moment and he's just like I actually like really like art or something like that I'd be like yo like that's sick like I want to see I want to see something like that side from Kai and I think I would love the show a lot
I can't hate on its battle score because up until last episode, I had it at a six. I do have it at a seven now. It's getting better with each episode. But I really, this is like, for as much as I love shoujo and coming of age and stuff like that, this show particularly, I just don't think a grown-ass man is the target market. But I am enjoying it. It's a seven, right? It's a solid seven, right?
i i get it it's like it's like sakamoto days i'm like yeah but this shit hell yeah yo eat that up well that's a 10 from cosette seven from me i think it's a show that if you didn't like the first couple episodes i would i would give this more than just like the three episode rule because i do think it has a lot of heart later in the series especially
like like serena i think she's such a great addition to the show and once yuka and uh ayumi get a little bit more acquainted i think that's a great part of like the friendship if you drop tiny lemon soda or you're indifferent on it i think i'd say give it a couple more episodes and i'm enjoying a lot more hopefully you will
uh but moving on to my favorite romance of the season and that's they changed this on mal because it was always labeled as can you keep a secret and now they're labeling it as i have a crush at work so i don't really know which one to call it i like can you keep a secret better because the latest episode they had to keep a secret so i thought that was really fun well the whole time they're keeping a secret but like there's a different aspect but we get acting adults in a relationship like actually acting like adults like
I pray for stuff like this. A relationship that is an actual relationship where they have communication issues sometimes, but then at the same time, like they make up and, you know, just do things together. Like, like miles would hate the show. There's no chase. They're just, they're just like a really lovey, like they're in the first year of their relationships. So like a, a honeymoon phase, I would say of some sort, but,
this has been everything i want like they're not holding back like this isn't waltz of koi where i had to wait nine episodes for a kiss they have sex on the first episode i'm just like yo what adults are doing adult things get out of town like i am just enjoying this show so much i love the dynamic of the two leads i like i love one of my favorite episodes was like how um masaru or
master guru whatever the main dude yeah how like he doesn't really like view himself as like attractive or whatever appealing and stuff like that and then like they showcase him he's just like doing all these things that's like dude you're great like why wouldn't people like you he's like oh okay i guess that's all right like i love like that asterisk the shells like that was so cool like that's the reason why yui fell in love with you it's like you're a great
funny hard-working dude i was like yeah show me that in relationships it's so great i am having an absolute blast with this show because what's your thoughts on i have a crush at work slash can you keep a secret first off i have a crush at work doesn't make sense because that would mean that they're not together yeah right it's like i don't know i'm gonna go with the secret one because that makes sense crush on your partner but i feel like that hint at like you're not together and they are they've been together for a while
Yeah, so first off, Can You Keep a Secret is the name. I'm all for that. Why isn't any streaming services picking this up? Because it's
I'm just surprised because it's not that sexy and there's a lot more sexual stuff on Crunchyroll. So I feel like not the sex for sure. But anyways, I just it's this is so refreshing to have the season because last season we had another office romance 365 to the wedding. It was another office romance, but it was very like nervous and, you know, early days. You don't anymore. You're 27. It's like
There was no squeeze. Squeeze. Shout out to Zen Shu. But this is so nice to watch, and it's one step closer to getting Sweat & Soap animated. It's right there. Sweat & Soap is the better version of this right now. But I really like the show because they're a really equal relationship.
um they both support each other he's dominant but then she's dominant as well like she you know takes charge in one episode which is really nice to see um she's not shy about it well she's shy but she's not shy about it um but i really enjoy the show and it's i think sora and i were talking about it but it's not that there's not too much drama
Which is kind of nice. You know, it's drama-free to a degree, and I really enjoy that. They both enjoy each other's company. But yeah, like you said, they're early on in their relationship. Like, they just had their first vacation together. I thought that when they were going to go to his hometown, she was going to meet the family, but...
I guess that didn't happen, which is fine. But I also really love the side characters. I think they're so fun. Like the girl that the snacking girl who would totally be me in this situation. She's so much fun with like a food blog and everything like that's me. That is me. I really, really like her. And I also really like this maybe budding relationship with I think the boss. Yeah. The guy who caught them.
Yeah, so I really like that. It's like not too... They're not like shoving in our faces, but it's a very subtle maybe relationship that happens. But I'm really enjoying it. It's a really nice romance slice of life. So more people should watch it, if only it was available everywhere. Yeah. I mean...
You said light on the drama. There were some spots where I thought it might get a little bit more drama filled. Like when she met the director and he's like 36 and he's this hot shot director. I thought that might be leading into some drama and it was pretty light. I thought there might be like another girl that like came into the scene that like tried to steal him and like that didn't happen. So like it's been pretty just like chill and fun and
I'm loving it. Like what we did an episode a while back called like airing or anime grievances. And then it was one of these things where it's like, if you're an adult,
Like, you don't have to show, like, I'm not looking for, like, a sex scene, but I, like, I want the implications that's, like, you're adults and, like, you're having these relationships and, like, that intimacy is, like, a huge part of a relationship. It's, like, at least showcase some of that. And I think they do a great example of this or just, like, you know, they, like, make out and then the next scene, they wake up in the morning and they're in bed together. Like, that's all I need. That's perfect. Like, you don't have to show me it. I know what happened. Like...
It's been like everything I've wanted in an adult cast like romance. Like straight up. I think I like it better than like Wodakoi.
I like I'm also with you sweat and soap is one of my all time favorite mangas ever it's it's so that one that one's great because like it is like lovey dovey but like I think like the drama elements of that story is like perfect and how they handle that this one doesn't really have like a drama aspect of like me attaching myself to a character it's just watching two people in love and having fun and there's no problem with that like I love that stuff
uh right now i have to show it at nine um when it's all said and done i might give it 10 it would probably be my front runner for like romance of the year i think it's fantastic like legit everything i've been looking for in a romance show how about you
I think it's at an eight right now. It feels that way in my heart right now. I would love to get an episode of like how, who like who reached out to who. They're probably going to do that. If they don't, that's weird. I might drop my point lower for that. I would just love a little backstory. Like I want to see like how he wooed her or how she wooed him. I would love to see that. Cause they're obviously in two different departments. So I would love to see how that happened. Yeah.
really enjoying it they sort of have like this running thing where like everybody at work thinks that they like hate each other yeah i feel like it was like like a work event type of thing where like they they end up like being together in a situation where it's just like those two like i would love to see something like that it's like oh actually i don't hate you i actually think you're awesome like you want to go out with me like i would love to see something like that there's like have you seen the newest episode
oh the one i came up no not today okay because there's like a hint of it but it's not like it's not like a whole ass like setup and scene so i would love to see more of that but there is a little bit in the newest episode okay nice yeah keep this going i hope that the manga is translated up to a certain point because i would love to keep oh it's finished okay so hopefully okay i'll probably i'll probably read this when it's also i'm assuming we're not because the manga is 140 chapters
There's only 12 episodes, so I'm doubting we're going to get to it. We might be getting like an anime only ending type of thing, but I love this. I, I love this show. Two thumbs up for us. Moving on to our next show. This one's very, this one has like, I feel like you're either all in or all out of the show. And that's Zen Shu. I'm all in. I think this show is fantastic. I think this show does everything.
okay i think there's like a bunch of different ways you can interpret this show and i know people give it a lot of flack because the fact that it is papa and it's a show about animation is sometimes can be a little ironic and i get that but to me what zenshu is showing is a love letter to being in it the the the feeling that you got when you watched your first like disney film and being like i want to make disney films
And like that idea of just growing into that person is awesome. Like, I think it's fantastic. Have you seen the newest episode? I think I did. Let me remember what happened. What happened in the last episode? It was like the background of like when you started drawing and then. Oh, her backstory. Yes, I did watch it. So that episode solidified me. Like this show is just an absolute plan. Like, I love the fact that the thing that she fell in love with
And this is hinted at before where the tale of pale perishing this movie. We see her in episode one sort of thrown into the story. It's like really generic and kind of bad. And you find out episode seven. The movie was a box office dud. Like the movie sucked.
And like, I love the idea that like, that's what she fell in love with. Like that's her thing. It doesn't matter if it's bad. It doesn't matter if it's good. It doesn't matter if this is some brand like magnum opus of animation. This was the story that she fell in love with. And then the fact that we got to see it incorporated it on like how bad the story was throughout episodes one through six, I think is hilarious. I think it's a huge, huge,
Speaking of like lazy writing, I think this is the exact opposite of lazy writing. I think this is incredible writing. This is what we're seeing with Zen Chu. Her transformation sequence is breathtaking.
It's like she's a magical girl transforming into this virtuoso persona that she wants to be. And that is another love letter to animation. How big of a deal magical girl sequences are in anime? There are so many ties to just being an animator in this story. The creativity that goes with it, with her creations, of defeating the monster by what's going on in her body.
Like what she takes from her previous works to defeat the monster of the week. I think all that is just so creative and so fun. And her character, that's a go is such a blast. Like her backstory was everything I wanted. Like, like how do you squee? Like, tell me, tell me when do you squeed? Like when's your first love? When's the first time you felt love? Everything about her has been great.
because i think when we did in the preview like i mentioned how generic like luke is and like he is on purpose like everything is for a reason this show is great i'm ranting jose your thoughts on zenshu please say it's good i'm gonna cry it's good i want a purple hoodie i wear hoodies all the time and now i want a purple one so i can be like be like her
It's so funny how none of us knew what this show was going to be about exactly. I think we knew it was about an animator and we're like, hi, Mappa. Honestly, not that I condone overworking, but when you're that passionate with your job, yeah, you will go over the edge a little bit. And that's basically what she is. Yeah, 100%.
I think that's her arc for the show, is that she overworks herself and she thinks she's the only one capable of doing it and she will do it. But she has to understand she has a team available and that they will help her and vice versa. So I think that's the main objective of the show, and I really, really enjoy that. But like you said, it's like a love letter to animation for animators, but also they shadowed a lot of different... With her sketches, you see a lot of different animations.
animation styles. I think the first episode was kind of like a shout out to Nausicaa. We saw some magical girls, some samurais. There was also a cameo with Mamoru Miyano.
when he was the idol or something. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I love that. I squealed. I squeed. I squeed myself. I squeed. I was so happy. I also saw that at the gym and I was like, holy shit. So I'm really enjoying it. It gives me Alice in Wonderland vibes right now where she got transported to another world. So I actually don't think she's dead.
My theory... I think she's in, like, a food coma, but, like, the bad food coma. I think my theory is that probably she passed out. She might be, like, poisoned and she's at the hospital right now, but since this was a movie, a movie's, what, two, three hours? So she's probably been out for only 30 minutes right now. And so I think, like, she'll come back to the real world, and then she's, like, she learns all this stuff, and then she can animate her movie, so...
But I really like this show because it's a breath of fresh air. It's something new. It's something we haven't seen before. Yes, it's an isekai, but it's a different...
Yeah. And I really enjoy that. I personally initially thought that she was going to transport herself to different kinds of anime. But then if that happened, like we wouldn't be able to get the growth of like Luke and all the other characters. So I'm really enjoy. I think the animation is so fun. I mean, her magical ghost sequence is like the first thing I fell in love with. It's just so adorable. So beautiful. I love like the song, the song that goes with it. True.
and she's so cute and I loved her backstory I think that episode was I think that really solidified it for me because I love a
so and i think it's really cute to see like the different people that like fell for her and then when they showed the boss i was like wait and then it was a different kind of love so i was like okay this makes sense but i think it was so cute and i i'm really enjoying it i don't know where i'd rate it right now i think it really depends on how it lands 100 yeah i i think that if it sticks the landing i mean i love story i love like passion project
i just i feel the heart and the warmth of it like that that to me that's like the biggest thing if that's what they're trying to convey i'm getting it like i've obviously you can tell i'm very passionate about this medium i love it i fell in love with it and like seeing other people fall in love with like maybe like a different aspect of it but it's still like the same like circle like i love that like show me why you love so
I think if it sticks to landing, it'd have to be like a really good ending. I can see myself giving it a 10. I have it at a 9 right now. I think it's been great. I have like almost no complaints throughout the story. I think it's awesome. I love this. I love this. I think it's like an 8, 9 right now. It's not a 10 yet. But honestly, if it really lands that landing, it could be a 10. So right now it's an 8. Okay.
yeah i love it i think it's one of the most unique creative shows we've gotten in a minute like it's not like sunny boy you have you seen sunny boy okay it's not it's never going to touch something like sunny that is that's so avant-garde and creative like it blows my mind like it's not going to be like that but this is like if pixar made a love letter type of story where it's like i think people can absorb it very easily if
and not have to dive too deep into the story, but it's still on the surface, a passion project for the end. I love it. I love it. Okay. Uh, moving on to our last show that we're both going to talk about outside of sequels is the doctor detective, Dr. House, Dr. House is a cute animal. And, uh,
when this started i was like okay it's house anyway house it's it's cute and funny the mysteries are like whatever like it was silly and i was like okay if we all get like four or five of episodes one and two like it'll be fine and i wasn't like super invested in it but i like but the second art that we just got the spontaneous combustion art
was so batshit crazy that I fell in love with the show. I was like, yes, get go nuts. Be insane. Like in this arc, we got somebody who spontaneously combusted. We got fungi growing in people's body. We got like motorcycle gang or not gangs, but like the shed was on fire. And then somebody like came in and like,
Fast and the Furious through the fire with the motorcycle to save somebody. I was like, where is this going? There's like possible attempted murder on some people. It's just it's not like every episode. I felt like it's just escalated more and more like, yes, yes. Keep being insane. This is like the show is.
wild it's like i thought the first episode was like this is okay we're getting hyoka or something like that they're gonna solve the mystery it's like nah we're gonna have people blow up i'm like all right fuck it let's do it this is awesome because what's your initial thoughts on uh a meku doctor detect i'm glad even though she's really tiny i'm glad she's not some like cute zero like that's like the one relief i had about this show like she's actually like a
A bit of a badass and a smartass. I really like that. But yeah, it's basically like how Sherlock Holmes. And I love her little thinking moments where she gets into a little thought bubble that reminds me of Sherlock Holmes a lot. The BBC version. With it being a mystery show, we've gotten so many mystery shows in the past few seasons. But this one actually feels realistic because the past few mystery shows have been in fantasy worlds, like Undead Murder First and stuff like that. So this actually...
could actually happen maybe i mean it's a little exaggerated but like for sure like like it's like exaggerated but like they they break it down on how it could technically be possible yeah it could happen on gray's anatomy why are you talking about it why not so it's been really fun and i really like i forgot his name but her her watson i guess he's been really fun he was a big surprise his actual name or what he or what she calls him
Oh, I know it's like Komori or something. Yeah. Kotari? Kotari? Yeah. Yeah. Anyways, he's really cool. He busted out some moves in the first few episodes, kicked some guys' ass. Like, it's been really fun. It's not like the best thing.
this season but it's nice to watch it's like not really slice of life it's more like slice of hospital life plus mystery i actually forget if i watched the newest episode i don't remember that was the conclusion to the spontaneous combustion okay i did okay so i did watch it okay cool i lost track i've been losing track this season of what i watched and what i didn't watch um
uh but the op i will shout out this op because it's by aimer who like is my second favorite artist like who does and it's my most listened op right now on my playlist because the only one it's the only one i added to my spotify playlist and i only listen to it when i work out so like i just do it all the time it's so so good the visuals are okay but i just like the song so shout out to aimer because it's great like she does great work so yeah
Okay, so right now, I think legit, if I was like being critical, I think this show is like a six, but it's so much fun. I haven't had eight. Like, I'm enjoying the hell out of this show. I think it's a blast. I don't care if it's wild and wacky and unrealistic and super exaggerated. I don't care. It's anime. I'm here to have fun. I'm having a blast watching. Yeah.
7.58. The post-credits scene looked like someone's getting sued and it's probably her, which I'm not sure about. So I'm excited to see where that goes because I assume that there's some sort of misconduct that she's done or something. If it's like House, she's probably going to get sued, I don't know, 30 times in this series. Exactly. So I'm really enjoying it. I'm excited where it's going to go. It's enough drama.
It's enough comedy. I really enjoy it. Right on. Okay, before we get into sequel talk, we're going to go over each other's, some other shows that like only Cosette's watching, only I'm watching shows that we drop type of thing. So Cosette, I'm going to pass it over to you. And you got the floor. Talk about some other shows that you're watching. Sure.
So the first one I'm going to talk about is Tasso Care Hotel. It's the one that's on Amazon Prime. So another one that not a lot of people have access to. A lot of people have compared this to Death Parade, but I have not watched Death Parade, so I have no idea. But basically, it's about a hotel that's like in the middle, like between the living and the afterlife. And so if someone, quote unquote, died, they go to this hotel.
And then they basically have to figure out who they are because they lose all their memories. So they figure out who they are, how did they die or get murdered. And so that was the main character. And then she decides to just work at the hotel and not even go back to the living world. So every episode, there is a guest who arrives and it's a bit of a mystery show. And it's been really enjoyable. Very death parade-y, yeah. Very death parade-y, yeah. So I can see that. But it's not...
It's not as dark. So I feel like if dark shows are not your vibe, this is kind of more G-rated. Yes, there is one serial killer in the show. He's one of the guests. He did get killed. But I won't say if he's still around. So there is some death, obviously. And there's some sadder moments. There's some happy moments. So it's a nice balance. I really enjoy it. It's not a must-watch by any means, but...
um it's like an eight for me right now and i probably will watch depth right at some point there's a big watch list so i don't know we'll see the never-ending watch list with yona the time yeah the next one the hate watch this season is called anyway i'm falling in love with you i think it's the shoujo romance i think it's shoujo it's the shoujo romance of the season and i was hate watching it but not in soda
Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah. I mean, it's the... This is... It's not Jose. No, it's a Shoujo. Okay, cool. Anyways. Yeah, I was...
It's the, I don't know. It was, what was I going to say? It's a romance drama. It is, I was hate watching it, but now I'm like, I don't hate it that much right now. Oh no, the Stockholm syndrome got you. Probably. It reminds me of like a soap opera. It's a K drama. Like there's this, it's about a bunch of high school kids that grew up together as kids.
And then obviously it's four guys and one girl. So it sounds like a harem, but not really because only one of them, well, two of them have clearly shown that they like her and then two of them are still like up in the air.
I thought it was ass, but I don't know. I'm still watching it for a reason, so I'm not hating it every episode. Kizuki was a red flag since day one, but after reading Reddit and Twitter, people like him. So I think honestly with romance, it's all subjective. So some people like how pushy he was and how like...
He was a man and told him how she felt, but she's just trying to keep the status quo. Like she's just like, I just want to be friends, but she hasn't actually said that. So that's the problem with the show right now. She doesn't have the balls to say, I just want to be friends. So she hasn't said no to him. So anytime he makes advances, she just takes it as it is. So she hasn't said no at all. I hate that.
The entire show, anytime he's about to say something to the entire group, she changes the subject. So I don't know. It's like a drama. It's fine. I am rooting for one person, but I like the part of the show where we see her at the present day and then we flash back to...
her as a kid. So now we're just trying to see like, Oh, who ends up in her future? I don't think anybody does to be quite honest. But we did see the one I was rooting for in the future, but I, it doesn't look like anything's happening. So, and then we did get a new guy at the end of the last episode, but he looks too old for her. So I hope that doesn't happen. So anyways, I'm still enjoying it. It's not completely bad. I would give it like a 6.57. Yeah.
Hate watching this. It's fine. I don't hate it. I just hate Kizuki because he's pushy. He takes her drinks and drinks it without her permission, but she doesn't say anything. So, whatever. I'm also watching Audible the anime, which is Flower Nasura. You're not watching? I thought you were watching that. I dropped it. Okay. It's like...
I'll try to just for like 15 seconds I liked everything except for when they were actually doing the voice stuff I love like the relationship stuff that they had going on like the outside of the school stuff I love that but then they were just like in their like classroom and like reading did not care there's like a scene in like I think it's like episode 2 where she's on like the
That scene was sick. Yeah. But then I was just like, I was like, I don't care about their club. I'm sorry. I don't. Yeah. No, I totally get it. I think the thing that I do like it for the relationships in the show and the friendships and them, you know, being a club and learning from each other. I think the whole like broadcasting voice work, whatever they're doing, it's hard to watch it as someone who doesn't speak Japanese. I feel like if I did speak Japanese and understand it, it's,
I would understand like the enunciation. I understand why they're saying, oh, pause when you say this. Like, that's probably the only thing that's hurting me watching this because I feel like I would I would enjoy it better if I actually learned the language. So but I'm not going to like root like lower its score because of that. So I'm just trying to observe it the way I am. But it's not like the best thing in the world. I think it's somehow connected to language.
sound euphonium and i think it's the same writer or something so i'm still liking it for the friendship part of it i don't know it's different because it's like broadcast voice work so and i think the last one is the guild receptionist show it's a really long name so i'm not going to say it's the guild receptionist show that's good enough yeah
And I've said this many times. I love a female that can kick ass. And that is what she is. So of course I'm going to watch the show, but just like, um, Zen Shu, she is also someone who is an overworker who is a perfectionist, but she's also selfless and she just wants to help people. So the whole reason why she's defeating all these bosses, so she can help people just get past the dungeon is,
So, I don't know. I think she's a really great personality. I think she has a hard exterior. And so she's just trying to open up to more people. And like I said, it's on Discord, but she's a black cat. And so a golden retriever has come and is trying to woo her. She's probably going to say yes at some point. But yeah, I don't know. I think it's fun. I think the whole not wanting to over...
work overtime is very relatable. But at the end of the day, she's the reason why she's working overtime. It was called out like in the last episode, I think. Yeah, but the one thing I love about the show is the OP. The OP is so beautiful.
Oh no, the other one. No, the other one. Wait. Well, they switched the OP and ED at one episode, so... Oh, so it's the Maraca thing, the ED? Yeah. Oh, shit! I think they swapped it for one episode and everybody got confused. Oh. They did. Interesting. Yeah. Okay. So the one with the art style is a little different, and she's like, on a dragon, flying around, and so...
that's really cool i want to see her like that's what i want to see we're probably not going to see it but i love that like that op so beautiful that's my favorite op of the season because it's so i would love to see her training like a training arc to find out like how she ended up this way but um it's a nice show it's fine it's a typical fantasy show so it's like a seven right now 7.5 fun a must watch obviously but i just love watching women kick ass so me too
yeah well you dropped it didn't you we'll get to that in a second so that being said shows that i dropped i want i want to preface that there's there's a there's a range of shows i dropped because of time and there are shows i dropped because they're bad the shows because those i dropped for time are guild receptionists and flower and asura i don't think they're bad
yeah like i just i think when i was watching them i had them at like a six or seven and i i needed to make some more time they just they were on the bottom they got cut i don't think they're necessarily bad i had fun with guild receptionist and flower nostra at certain points and sometimes they just gotta go uh the other one i some other ones i dropped welcome to japan miss elf
yeah so like their relationship is like i feel like they like clearly like each other and like i i'm all for with what they're doing in like the slice of life elements that they're doing but like i don't like that they like tease it so much that like like i don't know they saw each other naked like twice or something like that and they're just like i'm like just old hands already like
like i feel like they're just trying so hard for it to like hint at the romance and like never develop it i'm like that's not what i want so that one got the axe sora erio utility was the the girl golfing show it was originally a one like a one episode special that got turned into a series and i like the one episode special a lot but then what they did with the series is that they start from ground zero and
So she's essentially the main character is learning how to play golf. We're in the special. She's already golfing. And like I had like the special had like heavy, like laid back camp vibes, except they played golf. And now it's like trying to figure out how to stand when you hit the golf ball. Like, I don't care. Like, go play golf with your friends. That's why I was watching it for. And like, I don't want to see her progress.
to be a decent golfer by episode nine like i don't care so i dropped it and then the shows that i legit think that are bad which is one of them and it's anyway i'm falling in love with you i'm sorry because i think the show is ass i can't stand izuki or whatever yeah i think he's look i get there's other guys there's other guys yeah but they're like
They're also just like, I don't know. There's a people looking ass. There is a people looking ass, and I wish he was cool, but he's not. But like, I hated how they set up this scene where it's like, I'm gonna confess to you in like the locker room with the shower running and my hair is wet. I'm like, this is
so dumb like like maybe i don't know like i don't know like if you're 14 or 15 there's no way you think that's romantic or cool or i don't know i hated that like i hate that kizuki guy i hate him so much i think he's
I don't know. There's levels of pushiness and stuff where Kai from Honey Lemon Soda is the right amount of pushy. This guy's way too much. It's too much. The only way... If you're like...
set from you know the sorry brian if you're a yandere that's completely different like kizuki is not killing anybody it's like so i had to drop it uh i didn't have fun with it but other shows that i'm watching that coz that's not watching that i would recommend uh the okinawa show i'm really liking it it's super fun uh literally the fact that like okinawa and in terms of like
being an outsider and thinking since okinawa is in japan you think it's like most like you know there's like dialects and like but like okinawa seems like a completely different country and i love that like i'm learning more about like their culture through this show it's super fun the two girls are black there's ina and kana are just like one is pure gremlin and then the other one is like the antidote to the grim and they just they blend together perfectly
It's the perfect mesh of Gremlin and Gremlin Remedy. Big fan of that show. Who else am I watching? The Bureaucrat Show. So this is a show that you need to watch four episodes, not three, four. So it's a typical villainous story, except for the main character is a grown-ass 52-year-old man who gets transported. And it's very stereotypical villainous style.
Until episode four, where they introduce his family and his family helps him play the game. So like he's in a coma or whatever. He gets hit by like a car, gets transported in the world. The daughter of the family realizes that in the game, the game that she was playing, it's the same game that he's transported. The storyline has like changed.
And they put two and two together and realize that he is her. I forgot her name. He is the girl in the story. And there are certain elements that he can't do without there. And I think that's awesome. So it's like a family playing in a Tomei game together. It's a blast now. Like after episode four, the show went from like a five or a six, like a seven or an eight. I'm having an awesome time with it. And then last but not least, it's my number three show of the season. And it's Ave Musica.
um it made watching my go worth everything it's like what if you took bang dream and incorporated perfect blue and it is a psychological mess there is so much going on to it where like the music is almost completely irrelevant uh this is my favorite op of the season i think it's insane i
It reminds me like Wrong World from Girls Began to Cry, how that just like blew me away. This one just blew me away. Incredible. I think it's called the Kill Kiss. Fantastic. This show is, I don't know where it's going any episode. Like episode one starts out like a bang dream episode. And by where we are now, I feel like I'm on heroin. Like I don't know where it's going. This show is batshit crazy. I love it. Oh, Ave Musica has been fantastic. Oh,
But you do need to watch MyGo. It is a million percent a sequel. It's weird. It's like a sequel with a completely different cast, but at the same time, it's not. It's super weird. It's unlike anything I've ever seen in a different era. I don't know. It's weird. It's awesome. If you like Perfect Blue, you should watch Ave Musica. If you don't like MyGo, get through it to watch Ave Musica. That is that. We're going to talk some sequels now, something that I'm only watching...
I think we're both watching like my happy marriage, but I am watching. I think this new season has been fantastic. Let's start with my average. I think this has been fantastic. It's like a completely different element than the first season. The first season was like so much build up to like who they are and what they're going to go forward with. And this season has just been like, I feel like we're like thrown into the action and building up to something great. I think I'm an episode behind, but I am love being,
my happy marriage season. What's your thoughts so far? Second season's great because we're not seeing Mio get bullied so much by her family. I mean, we are in a different way, but we're not seeing her sister and her mom be complete assholes. I mean, her dad is a different story. But I just love the fact that we're seeing her in a different...
mental state. She has more confidence. She actually wants to get in tune with their powers and learn how to use them and help people. And then there's also, we're getting more progression with their relationship. We got two kisses now, I think. The first one was great.
Oh, no, we did get two. We did get two. Okay. I haven't seen the second one, but the first one was everything I wanted. The first one was way better. The second one was like, whatever. But it's really cute to see them progress. And she's actually like, it's so funny with the show because it's a romance. So they're trying to get to know each other and be an engaged couple. But then the second part of it is this political drama with the emperor and all this stuff. So it's really cool how somehow they're
both plot lines work well together um so i'm really enjoying it i really like the addition of the i forgot her name now karuko the female guard yeah she's really cool i'm really glad that miyo has a friend so um i'm really enjoying it i think his name is usui something her dad quote unquote dad that's my he's a little scary and then who framed roger rabbit yeah of course you know the guy who like melts
And who framed Roger? I only remember the redhead, to be quite honest. Oh, Jesse. Oh, okay. Jesse.
Is it Jessica Rabbit? Yeah. That's the only thing I remember. The villain in Who Framed Roger Rabbit reminds me a lot of Beos. Yeah. Okay, okay, okay, cool. Yeah, he's a little creepy, but then, honestly, I know we're going to get a lot of betrayal, we're going to get a lot of stuff like that, so I need to be mentally prepared for it, because I feel like it's not going to be happy for very long, so...
um but yeah i don't know i'm really liking it hell yeah yeah me too i'm i really like season one but i'm i like season two a lot for other sequels i think i'm only watching this the hundred girlfriend if you like season one you don't like season two there are i think there's incredible episodes like they're doing with the baseball episodes and i also think there's super extra episodes that are 100 pure fan service and those are the ones that i like i fall out of like the the maid episode that we got
or whether like playing tag with the water guns i thought that episode sucked but then the the two episode baseball stuff that we got going on fantastic so i'm pretty hit and miss with this i haven't like an eight i still think it's super funny but there are some parts that i wish were not there but it is what it is that's the nature of the show i still think it's good it's just not what i want personally and then soul leveling really liking the second
I think it's a little exaggerated on how good this show is. It has, it has like an 8.85. I don't think it's doing anything that it deserves that high of a score. Like it's super fun and the fights are dope, but like it's the most basic fucking storyline ever. It's like, I mean, I gotta give credit where credit's due. It's called soul leveling. He levels up solo.
that's what happened that's great like that's what that's what i'm expecting i have it like i think it's like a solid eight if if you're looking for like fun power fantasies this one's really good but uh we gotta get to the best sequel of the season and that is apothecary i already see well okay i'm counting it it's b stars oh sure talk about it
Because it dropped at the end of December, so I count it as winter right now. That's fair. Yeah, 100%. I did that with Pokemon Concierge. It's next season. Yeah.
So I guess you're not watching it yet. Not yet, but I will a hundred percent. I've seen the first two seasons. I haven't had a 10. Like I love it. Yeah. It's a, I've been pacing it to make it feel like a seasonal that's weekly. Cause Netflix dropped all the episodes. Um, I'm like halfway right now and it's been really, really cool. It's dark. It's still dark as usual, but it's nice to see the kiddo kids. They're all adults. They're sort of adults. They're outside of the school now. So it's kind of nice to see. Um,
I really like the introduction of two new characters. I think there's like Yaya and Gosha, but they're like these two older characters that are really, really cool. And I can't wait to learn more about them. We get to learn more about the Gosha's family, which is either shocked by. So that was really cool. And so I don't know. I'm really enjoying it. I really like the OP. It reminds me of Lost in Paradise a bit with JJ. Yeah, it's fun. It's not as good as Lost in Paradise. That's like one of the best. Yeah, 100%.
But it's still fun. It has like vibes. When you listen to it, you'll get it. But I'm really enjoying it. I think this is part one. So there's still a second part to it. So I'm really enjoy it. I prefer the dub as usual for Beastars and it's done really, really well. So, but yeah, I can't wait to finish it in the next few weeks. That's what's up. I can't wait to actually start. I gotta get through so much shit.
I'll talk about the next episode we're doing. I have to watch legit one of the worst animes I've ever seen. I'm sludging right now. I have so much on my backlog that I have to do for future content. I gotta finish Jararara, then I have to watch Revolutionary Girl Utena. I got a lot on my plate. I will get to Beastars when I can. Finish it before the seasonal review.
or i'm gonna spoil it i will just mute myself because i don't know if i will finish but i will try uh i'll just put it that way so now let's get to the best sequel of this and that is apothecary diary i was called an apothecary hater for not picking mao mao as best girl i was called an apothecary diary hater because i gave the show a nine
I was called an Apothecary Diary hater because I was only my number 10 show of 2024. Season 2 has been incredible. The last two episodes that we have gotten have been perfect. Absolutely perfect. I am a... I was always a Mau Mau state. I just wasn't as big as everybody. I... Queen Mau Mau for life. But now, if...
If there was an attack on her life, I would be jumping in front to take a bullet. I believe in Mao Mao's supremacy. Like, the slap scene in the last episode with the whole mystery that we got, like, the flashback from, like, 12 episodes ago of how she picked up on it. Like, the foreshadowing in Apothecary Diaries is bonkers. It is...
so good and now we got the hint of what i know everybody's been saying i can't wait till we get the frog i can't wait till we see the frog it's there like this show is incredible the jinshi dancing what that was so good oh my god he's he's so hot just everything about this season has been like
just near perfection. Like, I can't wait to give the show a 10. What are we thinking right now on Authoreity? I mean, I read it. Like, I'm up to volume 12 right now. It's nice to hear from people who haven't read the manga to experience this, because I already know what's going to happen at this point. And I
fact that like the frog has been referenced but like it doesn't spoil anything it doesn't like you don't know what it means and i love that yeah spoil anything you have no idea what the frog means like i'm it makes me so happy to be like now non-anime fans won't be spoiled so i'm looking forward to it i suspect that's probably gonna happen because we just finished the end of volume 10 in the last episode so i feel like we're getting the frog probably near the end of the first core
Oh, we're not getting it next episode? I want it now. Whoa. We only had a million ten. But I want it now. I'm a greedy man. No, no, but there's other good stuff happening. I want my frog. We got the slap. We've got, yeah, we got the slap. We got other stuff coming, which is fun. But yeah, honestly, like, I'm not surprised how well the season's been. Honestly, the thing that surprised me is the fact that it's two cores.
And the English manga is only up to volume 12 right now. Volume 13 comes out next month. And this is two cores. The first season went up to volume nine. I think the anime is going to go outside the manga. And that worries me because I like to read the manga before the anime. I'm a little conflicted right now.
so i could read these research i'll probably have to read scans because like that it's one of the only mangas i read physical form so i don't read ahead but i might have to so anyways i'm really enjoying it i'm really really happy queen mamel yeah forever best girl 2025 what up can she three p we'll find out in 12 months
We should do best girl of each season and then it'll be like Mau Mau and then Mau Mau again. Okay, let's do that for our review. We'll bring some to the table. Why not? That'll be fun. We'll do like the anime of your categories and then there we go. Yeah, sure. Let's do that. Look at that on the spot. On site production meeting right now. Sweet. Anyways, I'm really enjoying it. I'm glad we got to see more Luha because she's a great
She's a great character. We're going to see more Jin-Chi. We're going to see more about Jin-Chi. More about Mao Mao. Not much of the cat, unfortunately. Damn. Sorry. Anyways, we're going to see more of the Emperor and some other things. So I'm excited for what you're all going to experience. Yeah. So far through six episodes, I have to say. I think it's so good. I think it's so... It's just so...
I don't know. Like now that we have like everything set, people know everybody. Now we can start diving into it. And that's what we're getting. It's just, oh, it's so good. I love Apothecary Diaries. If you don't like Apothecary Diaries, what's wrong with you? I've never seen anyone say anything negative about it. I've seen some people say like it's okay. Like they all see the hype. I'm like, I don't see the hype in you, my man. The show's great.
okay well i think that covers everything for winter i don't think we missed anything there's some shows that like i'm not personally watching that we got left out like i'm not watching the new season of dark stone there's some other like aram stuff that i have but overall winter i'm enjoying it spring looks to be pretty good too so we'll have our preview in like a month or something like that so
Look forward to that. Otherwise, let us know in the comments what you are liking so far this season, whether it's new or a sequel, or if you want to talk stuff with us, you can join our Discord. Yeah, but join the Discord because we all talk about seasonals and it's fun to get more people to talk about some shows. Yeah. Whether you've seen one or 5,000 anime, come join us. We're pretty nice for the most part. Other than that, I want to say thank you if you made it this far. If you want to support us, the best way to do so, like, comment, subscribe, leave a review on whatever platform you're watching or listening to us on.
Next week for Watch Club, we are watching the first Pokemon movie. That should be fun. We're going to be living our childhood memories. The first movie to ever make me cry. So can't wait to hear other people's stories. I know Pat has like a childhood story that he teased last time. So look for that. Otherwise, for non-Watch Club content, we're going to be discussing some of the worst anime we have ever seen. It is our fantasy football punishment episode. I have to watch the lolly basketball show Rokubo.
So far, I've made it four minutes into the first episode before shutting it off. I somehow have to finish the entire season in two weeks, though. I can't wait. Can't wait. It's a good time. I really don't like shitting on shells with this one. I'll be shit on a lot. So that should be a fun episode. Otherwise, thank you so much for listening. We will see you next. Peace. Bye bye.
