Hello, ladies and gentlemen, and welcome to What You Say Anime. I am your host, Peter. On today's episode, we are looking into the great beyond and giving our thoughts on the upcoming winter 2025 season of anime. Normally, we strictly talk about new shows that will be airing, but we felt it may be time to do so.
maybe a little underwhelming next season. And we got a lot of sequels. So while we enjoy doing sequels every now and then, I think this time around, we're going to do like a full on section at the end of it. But fear not, we will still be doing new shows in the beginning. Of course, we'll be using timestamps in the description below. So if you want to jump around or skip the sequels that we're talking about, you'll know when they're coming up.
Joining me today on this preview is Cape Cod's number four DILF. We got Miles. Miles, how's it going?
Good, it's going well. I'm always excited to talk about anime with you, Pete, and I am excited about the shows coming up this season. I tend to be on like a deep dive on every other season sort of pace due to the responsibilities of being the number four Delve. Yep. Some things come up. Yeah, I get it. Yep. And, you know, so, but hopefully I'll be able to watch a lot of this season and I'm excited too. So, yeah, I
I guess like coming into this fall 2024, I thought was going to be like a really good, like maybe the best of the year. And I was pretty underwhelmed. So I'm kind of like redoing my, how I'm viewing future seasons and not making those predictions. Unless we have like nine certified bangers. There's some new shows coming into the season where I feel like we'll be good, but will they be great? I think I'm skeptical on.
So I'm intrigued to see how the season plays out. Normally, winter is always a heavy hitter for seasonals. This one, I think it is for the sequels, but for new properties, I feel like we only got like a handful that I think are going to stand out throughout the entire year. Did you have any thoughts on like the new shows that are coming up?
Yeah. So, I mean, you know, you always ask me like, Hey, like take a look. And so like, as I always do, I scrolled past everything anyone cares about. And I ended up being most excited about some mystery show, like two lines from the end. And you were just like, I've never heard of this and never heard anyone talk about it. Oh, like show showman series or something. And Hey, that was good. That was, um,
And this is no different. You know, the new shows, I think, will be like, OK, I'm a little surprised on your view of this, because when I was going through this, I thought a lot of this season sort of seemed like stuff Pete would like, you know, where, you know, it doesn't necessarily mean it's like a banger or anything, but like.
there's just like a lot of like the the elf reverse isekai or whatever you don't already for that one you know so like that's not something that's going to move the overall yeah seasonal like needle for the masses but for you specifically i feel like it would
I'm trying to view it through a lens point of like the most common anime seasonal watcher. Like, I don't know how many people are like fucking jacked over the elf show. I am, but like, I'm in, I know where I stand. I am in the vast minority on that one. But if it's anything even close to a talk to elf, which was one of the most underrated anime of 2023, I'm all for it. So we'll have to wait and see. I, there's some shows that are like me coded, uh,
Where if I dive into it with the emphasis and passion that I do feel about it, I may be it put on a list. So I'm going to like restrain myself a little bit and talk about some shows. I think that my more appeal to the masses is,
Yeah. Okay. I mean, I'm happy with that. There's definitely some of some shows that I am. I'm looking forward to. But why don't you start us off with a show that I know literally nothing about, but is like the more most anticipated thing coming out? For sure. Yeah, this is I would say for sure the most anticipated new property.
uh for next season and that's sakamoto days sakamoto was considered the greatest hitman of all time feared by many he stood at the top of the underground world until he met and fell in love with a woman as a result sakamoto abandoned his life of crime and now works as a convenience store clerk leaving his shady past behind bruised to be more difficult than sakamoto initially imagined many of his former rivals and partners do not believe that he's truly left the business and shows up in hopes of taking him out
Hard from killing, Sakamoto must find creative ways to subdue his enemies and prevent them from bringing harm to his family, his store, and the small town he resides in.
So Sakamoto days is a show that I've heard or the manga, at least been talked about for a long time. It's a pretty big staple, I would say, in Shonen Jump. Even more now that like My Hero's done, Black Clover's out, Jujutsu Kaisen's done. They're looking for new properties to sort of lead jump. And Sakamoto's is kind of like, I feel like maybe one of those like next one up applications.
I know it's filled with action. I know it's filled with comedy. I know that Sakamoto is like this big fat guy, but when he goes into like action mode, he like loses a hundred pounds and then he's in like this like killer mentality. I think it's supposed to like identify like how he switches between like family dad and assassin, just like how you do it, Miles. But yeah, number Sakamoto though, number three DILF, unfortunately. So,
so i've got yeah i've got some ground to make up he's got like he's got the big fluffy chin that you can play with and you can go up and down like this i'm the only one who's seen slam dunk but he looks exactly like the head coach of the guy from slam dunk but this is i i've seen incredible action panels from the manga i've heard in different things about the story i heard it's like
I've heard from people that say it's like 10 out of 10. It's shown in meathead what you're looking for. I've heard people say like the story is super bland and organic or and um,
What's the fucking word? Generic and generic. You know what's going to happen next, that type of thing. So depending on, I think, how some scenes are animated, this could be really great. It's been done by TMS Animation, who does like Dr. Stone. I'll rent a girlfriend. So yeah, that's another good one known for their we all care about. Yeah, they're known for their pure shonen action anime. So I guess it's undead luck. So that
That one's pretty good. What are your thoughts on Sakamoto days? Yeah. So one, I totally thought this blonde dude at the forefront of the PV art was like the main, main character, but I see that he is not. And actually the grocery store clerk is Sakamoto. Yes. I don't know. I think this is, this is pretty interesting. It seems like it could be funny and have action. It kind of gives me spy family vibes from like a, uh,
very overview type of thing where you have yeah you know like it's like it's quirky and actiony and funny you know but like you know i don't think this guy's gonna be like shooting people execution style or whatever you know because he's not allowed to kill anymore for whatever reason um i guess like he doesn't want to i don't know this is barred from killing though so he has to um maybe his wife made him say like you can't do that no more
Yeah, true. I mean, so, you know, in theory, like how he deals with these issues can be like creative, you know, unless it just like ends up being out of state. But, you know, people really like the manga. I suspect it'll be a good time, like even if it's like a little predictable or whatever, like that's like super OK during that.
some shows and you know so as long as there's like good chemistry and like it's funny and looks pretty i'm happy with this uh so i'm excited to watch it for sure yeah there's like this wave of like shonen jump and shonen jump plus properties have been coming out where it's just been very consistent for me where it's like chainsaw man anime gave it an eight kaiju number eight gave it an eight blue box have it at an eight
Undead Unlocked, have it at an 8. I feel like that's the trajectory that I'm leaning on for Sakamoto Days. This was really fun, 8 out of 10. I feel like it's going to have Kaiju number 8 vibes for me. Or good action, kind of funny, generic story. Perfectly fine, no issues with that. Just let me have a good time with it and it's going to get an 8 from me. I'm a little iffy on the studio doing it just because they're not really known for...
let me say this i i live vicariously through the story through twitter so i only know so much and most of the panels people show on it are either the funny family pictures or the pure action so as long as the the pure action is animated well this is probably going to be like an eight for me i feel like that's like the floor i could be i could be surprised who knows but i'm a i'm i'm really looking forward to this
So you didn't think My Wife Has No Emotion was like a Sakuga banger? It was actually, I would say, not even close. It actually had a lot of production issues. I love that show. It has one of my favorite characters of 2024 in it, but that show is not known for its banger animation. I don't know. I think that we've seen plenty of times where studios get the chance to do something big like this, like a big...
series and they run with it or they can butcher it but like when you have a jump property i don't i don't think like when was the last time a jump property came out and was just literally awful oh uh that is a great question legitimately awful yeah like
I mean, even like, even like, like not bad, like bad, like awful, awful. Well, like even like when was the last time a jump property came out and the animation was like, I'll give this a six. Cause my hero season five. Sure. Like, I guess in my head, then you have like 60 episodes before then that, or whatever that are good or whatever, you know, like, so generally I feel like a floor on the animation is like expected, like jump properties aren't,
getting sent to places that aren't going to do them justice. But hey, maybe this place, maybe it will. Who knows? The PV looked nice. So I have faith that it'll at least be fine. Yeah, I suspect it'll be fine. And maybe it won't be like the world's most fluid animation 100% of the time, but it'll be good. Yeah.
As long as I get fun action, I'm all for it. So this is pretty high on my list for new shows for this season. Okay. Well, so should we get to our second show? Fuck it. Why not? Okay. You know what, boss? No. Okay. The podcast is right here. Welcome to our Sakamoto Days preview podcast. Thank you for listening. That's it. That's it. Peace out. Okay.
Next, we have fate. Strange. I kept wanting to read fate as fake because I knew fake was coming and I was getting ahead of myself.
Fate Strange Fake centers around an imperfect copy of a Grail War based on the third Holy Grail War. I fucking this thing just used to be simple. Following the conclusion of the third Grail War, a US-based organization with Magi distinct from the London-based Magi Association used data from Fuyuki's Grail War
to plan their own ritual. 70 years later, they used the city of Snowfield as the sacred land for their own Grail War. However, they were unable to selflessly replicate every aspect of the ritual, resulting in it acting as only an imitation of
That has lost the saber class. That's a risky financial decision. And allowed for the summoning of strange servants due to the blurring of the definition of a hero. That's actually a pretty good hook. Drongal and his pupils, Thaldius, have been dispatched by the Mage Association to investigate the city in the state of the war. Thaldius, a U.S. organization spy, has been dispatched by the Mage Association to investigate the city in the state of the war.
Has Rangal sniped upon his arrival, despite knowing that Rangal is a puppet. He declares that their Holy Grail war has been in development and is real, causing a commotion at the clock tower and that he wishes to advertise to advertise the project. Oh, my God. To the association. We got there. So did we? Yeah. So this sounds like a fate.
series to me and so I will watch it and the range here is going to be pretty big because there are like some fate shows that I absolutely love and adore and there are some that I think are like so fucking bad the idea of like the people that are getting pulled in okay wait one of the main characters is Saber which is hilarious given that
um classes removed it's an absolute synopsis that i just read but um yeah like i don't know the idea of like oh who's a hero and who's not we're bringing in like maybe a little bit more edgy type people not that fate is normally missing those but you know i'm interested to see how that that comes apart so you know i don't know it's an a1 show it'll look good probably i hope so um
And I like the fate universe most of the time. So I'm excited to, to give that a watch.
Yeah, I'm intrigued to see which version of Fate we're getting. Are we getting Fate Grand Order in the anime? Are we getting Fate Babylonia? Are we getting Fate Zero? Probably not that since it's not Ufotable. I think it's that timeline though because it's like Lord Elmelo is in this, I believe. Okay, so it probably ties into his timeline
anime from like a couple years ago they got like two seasons like the mystery files one yeah because he but he might be like older or something in this because it's 70 years after the pv he looks much older or from the the lord case files or whatever it was that anime yeah
Because, like, this is 70 years after, I believe, Fate Zero. Am I going to have to do some research before watching this? Because I know this is, there's technically, there was, like, this an hour-long episode prequel. So, according to Mal, that was the prequel to this. I don't know if I actually have to watch it. If I do... Okay, I believe that is the one. Have you seen the American Magic clip from Fate? Maybe. Maybe.
Okay, I think... Probably not if I can't remember. Okay.
There, there, there's a clip where someone is confronting like an American mage or whatever. And he's doing like David Blaine shit with like a lighter. And then he says something like about American magic. And then just a whole bunch of people from the forest start shooting the guy he's talking to with guns. Oh my God. No, I have not seen this. That sounds incredible. It's amazing. I think that's probably from like the prequel movie or whatever. Oh, it is.
it's so funny it's just like american magic and they start lighting him up with fire okay so i got i got okay i'll add this i'll add the prequel movie or tv special whatever to my list before watching this we will luckily we'll get like a break in between seasons coming up here so we'll have like a week and a half before all the shows start airing so i can watch our 55 minute special uh i haven't watched fate since unlimited blade works i think
oh yeah it's been a minute yeah i didn't i never watched babylonia i think it was on i don't know if crunchyroll i there's a reason why i didn't watch it um i'm definitely not watching the ilia prisma one hell no uh yeah well you don't want to re-watch stuff right so uh i see what you're saying yeah you're trying to put me in a box right now for the record i have not seen it and i never will
I do honestly haven't feel at some point because I heard those movies are fucking insane. Yeah, I mean, I like Fate male saber, though. Nope. We give you give me traditional female saber. No, I'm just kidding. Yeah, I mean, I'll check this out just because I'm not like the biggest Fate fan, but I like what I've seen from most Fate franchises. So I'm gonna put this I'm gonna label this under fuck it. We ball.
Okay. Yeah, I think it's definitely worth checking out. It certainly has a low floor, but maybe it is good. We'll never know. Actually, we've
It's either going to be good or it's going to be bad, or we won't know. I want to know what Trent's thoughts are. I need the fate heads to let me know how excited... On a scale from 1 to 10, how much does this tickle your fancy? Trent, write a paragraph and post it over Pete's face on your opinions on this. Great audio content for...
and then and then have an ai read it and post in that audience trent's just like i don't get paid enough for this shit i'm not doing it i don't want to let you just speak if you want you you would have someone you could just hijack this entire episode trent no one will ever know you do you try we trust you fully hey trent the editor here the american magic scene miles mentioned from the prequel special is absolutely incredible
Give me more Gilgamesh and Enkidu battles as well and I'll always take more Fate adaptations. Eventually we'll get our Stay Night Ufotable remake. I'm at about a 6/10 on the excitement scale.
Yeah, I'm like, I'm like a, I'm like a medium Buffalo sauce on this one. This one looks kind of cool. I saw some of the PV look great. Gilgamesh is in it. Love Gilgamesh. That's my homie. Yeah, I agree. I think like, I don't know. The floor is like, is cool, but bad, you know, which I think is fine. I think that's, that's good enough to watch. So, okay. I'm excited to watch it. No, I'm more excited for though. The watch.
This is unsurprising. Honey Lemon Soda. Let's go. Got my manga right here. Honey Lemon Soda. 15-year-old Uka. Middle school was the toughest experience she lived through. She was dubbed Rocky due to her always freezing up in front of other people and endlessly bullied as a result. Now in high school, she has a chance for a fresh start to improve herself. But...
During her first week, she accidentally soaked in juice by her classmate Kai, a flashy guy with lemon-colored hair. On paper, Kai is everything that Uka lacks.
He is popular, aloof, and bold enough to speak his mind despite their contrasting personalities. Kai encourages her to slowly come out of her shell, offering a helping hand when others avoided to do so. Although Uka initially wanted to forward friendships, she has realized her true feelings and she has fallen in love with Kai. What started with a lemon soda is about to change Uka and Kai's life forever.
So I've only read the first volume, so I will say I'm a fake Honey Lemon Soda fan. However, I did like what I read. With this dynamic of like,
Because she's not like this. It's the same thing how I like viewed like Kimi ni Tadouke with like Sawako. We're like, it's not like the she's all that thing where it's like she's the loser. She dates the hot guy. She's actually hot the whole time type of thing. It wasn't Kimi ni Tadouke. It wasn't like that. Like Sawako was like,
Just had trouble communicating. And then this is kind of like the same vibe I get. I got, whereas more of like an under the radar girl and the super hot popular guy start meshing together. And I love that dynamic.
knowing what i've seen in the first volume it doesn't dive super into the other characters which according to the the picture on like the pv there's like a group of six uh which i'm a big fan of like this group friend dynamic thing that they got going on possibly there's three dudes and three guys so uh i'm no mathematician but if i put those together i have something brewing in my mind about what other side stories that could happen and i am a fan
of that miles your thoughts on honey lemon soda three dudes and three guys huh um oh shit um we're just it's just a bunch of dudes hanging out with the guys um so we play halo um yeah so i i don't know i mean stuff like this is always tough for me because this seems good enough
If this is like your jam. Hell yeah. I, I got, I have a hard time with introverted protagonists. They irk me sometimes. You're not going to like this. Yeah. And that's, I guess that's like why I'm like worried about it because it just depends on like how much they focus on, on like that sort of like, I can never speak to anyone ever.
aspect of her but she has like five friends so you know that's good yeah it's it's tough it's not like it's like comey or something like that it's not like she's afraid to speak or something yes thank god but she is shy and a little timid at points so
I get that you hate introverted people. You wish they would all be killed off the face of the planet. I get it. Killed off the face of the planet, yep. I get it. I get where you're coming from. But this is a sweet, sweet story. Most people that I know that have read this really enjoy this story. I hope it's like Kimiditi, okay? We'll see. But yeah, I mean, I'm a big fan. It's JC Staff, which I would say
a slightly above average studio the art on this is really cool i like the eyes how they do the eyes in this story but yeah i mean it does look like a very fun shoujo romance that i will eat the fuck up yeah so like her introversion on a scale of like yuki to bocce well it's not bocce okay thank god okay then i'll probably like this i don't know like
I'll live. The story is like her breaking out of her shell, so she is definitely going to have moments where I feel like you're going to be very frustrated. Yeah, it's certainly possible. I mean, I don't know. It looks fun. She seems happy. As long as it's not like...
And like, if she actually like grows is like a human, that'll be like a big step. You know what I mean? And like a timely manner and everything. So I don't know. I'm excited to watch it. Hi, this guy, he looks like he's probably outgoing so I can just attach myself to him. Okay. Sounds good. Yeah, it'll be fine. I'm also going to be intrigued to see how much they adapt because I
She starts as, like, a freshman, or I guess they're sophomores, or whatever. She's 15. Yeah, their first years. Yeah, their first years in high school, and then, like, in the manga, they're third years now. So, like, it progresses throughout their high school career. So I wonder, like, how far they'll go. I'm assuming they'll probably just do her first year, but...
Yeah, I mean, the last couple shoujo romances that stick out to me have been really good. We had Yamada. We had Ice Guy. What else did we have that came out that was a sign of affection? Oh, there were some that were really bad, too. Oh, my God. I forgot. Hananoi. That was a production blunder. Kibunji Doki Season 3. So, yeah, we've been on a good streak lately. So I have pretty good high hopes. I have high hopes for Honey Lemon Soda.
Yeah, I'm excited to watch it. I really like the manga art looking at it. Yeah. So the anime looks like a little generic, but that's okay. Yeah, I'll definitely watch it and like just keep my opinion to myself. Yeah, it's not something that I'll like thrive on hating like other things. It just is something that might not be for me because like, I don't know, like Yamada-kun, like I really like how, um, what's her name?
Akane? Thank you. It's like the most common Japanese girl's name in the world or something. She's like the outgoing one and stuff, and I like that a fair amount, as opposed to like shy characters, but we know this. So you want Yamada to die, is what you're saying.
No, because Yamada is hot. I think he's sort of figured himself out. He doesn't have a wish to be more outgoing or anything. He has his friends and he does things and whatever, but he's like, I don't like introverts. The way that it's played sometimes, it's not like, oh, he's so introverted, isn't it funny how he has a panic attack? And it's like, no, that isn't funny. I don't find that funny. Actually, no. Yeah.
But our next show is Can You Keep a Secret? So we're staying on our romance thing. Yes. Yui Mitsuya and Masugu Patateshi aren't just any co-workers. They totally have the hots for each other. His helpful yet humble attitude makes her giddy, and her cuteness leaves him grinning like a fool. Problem is...
They're trying to keep their new release relationship under wraps relationship to avoid release to avoid making things awkward at work. But seeing how they can't keep their hands off each other, they run the risk of spilling their little secret with each passing day at the office. This is finally an adult workplace romance that I am interested in. It has a,
Take it a minute. Maybe I will hate it. You probably will. I like a lot of these things. I think it plays into the in certain aspects that are good. One, they both look like adults. The last couple of these we've gone have involved very tiny women. And two,
they're already dating, but there's still some stakes involved because they're trying to keep their relationship a secret and they need to navigate through that. So it's not just like, or dating. And then they do other unrelated things. There's like stuff to happen. There's, we can see the pitfalls coming and how will they deal with it, et cetera, et cetera. So I'm excited to watch this. You know, hopefully it's funny. Pete, do you know anything about this? Nope. I,
I didn't know anything about this coming into this season. I just saw that it was a adult workplace romance. I said, yes, please. I can live vicariously through this because you should probably never date your coworkers. That is not a good plan. But when you watch all, have you had like one workplace romance that like worked out? Not you, but like people, you know? Yes. However,
My one, my closest thing ever to a workplace romance involved the girl following me around at work and yelling at me and calling me a slut. So hold on. Were you being a slut though? No. Okay. Then what's wrong with her? Um,
Yeah, I don't know. Well, several things, but that's neither here nor there. So I guess, yeah, like, you know, it does add the possible issue that they do know where you work. I just remember all of the workplace romances that I've not personally been a part of because I'm not dealing with that, but like within my workplaces have always ended like pure flames, except for one.
but it's such good drama to watch it unfold like i can't get enough of it shout out to my friend ben there was a girl who worked at one of our workplaces her name was rebecca and the first day she started he said i'm going to marry her and he did and they had a kid like and yeah i was like yo just like shout out to ben that was crazy i was just like yeah whatever dude it
It could call your shot, I guess. No, that was nuts. I was like, that's a wild ass thing to say on a girl's first day at work.
And then they fell in love. Now they have a kid and they're married. It's awesome. Yeah. My friends, Mark and Dana are getting married soon and they met at work and worked together for a year or whatever. So, so while that's all fun and dandy, I'm here for the drama. I'm here for the spice and I want to see some conflict. I want to see a second woman or a second man come into the picture and, and cause like a cause a stir up. That's what I want to see in this, even though it does look a little bit more lovey dovey, uh,
based off the picture it doesn't have the drama so we know how this will happen if there is right okay so we have our two gossiping co-workers in the bottom right if we're looking at pv um it's the the profile picture on now if you want if you at home want to follow along with my analysis okay we have the b couple up top right
Oh, yeah. Yeah. Like the developing couple. Okay. I like that. Yeah. They're up top. Right. So they're they like each other or whatever, but they haven't sorted that out yet. Okay. Bottom left. We have two options. Maybe the boss. Right. But she's clearly the most antagonistic of these characters. She's for sure. So she's either the boss and they're hiding from her or maybe she's interested in him or something. And she's like a potential third one. Maybe it's both.
I hope it's both. Yeah. So... Yeah. Yeah, I do too, man. I'm glad you finally come along on this messy bullshit. Like, you're now rooting for someone to come in and spice things up. And that's always... You know what? You know what I want? Just because it's so counterproductive to your thoughts on this. I want the third...
or sorry the second woman to join to be like four foot six oh yeah yeah just like like like they got like the fucking like lolly template like added half a centimeter and are like it's an adult woman yeah or the second dude that comes into the picture has to be like seven feet tall
it's one or the other literally just Shaquille O'Neal yeah oh that would be sick if Shaq joined I bought your company it's now Papa John's
oh my god um that's by the way a spoiler that's the plot of this show what yeah oh i sir company jack is on mal i missed the character list that's my bad he turns it into a yeah he's he's supporting he's the o'neill sama oh i missed that that's my bad they've listed as o'neill sama that's my my apologies
Oh my god. It could have been any other O'Neil Sama. Shaq Sama, but you know. Whatever. O'Neil Sama sounds like a Braveren character. But that's his last name. Yeah, I know. Shaqtus Sama. He was like the big sheriff Sama. Any of his nicknames. Yeah, but this show is gas. I can't wait for it. This is probably my most look forward to show. New show of Dexys. I hate you.
I mean, okay, what else do we have here? That like genuinely might be true for me too. I'm not lying. Yeah, I suppose. I don't know. I think I'm going to give this like a seven and like it'll be a 7.5 and like in a system where there's 7.5. So I'll have a good time watching it. All right, we take those. I've already decided that my favorite character is the girl on the bottom right who looks happy. The blue hair girl? Yeah, it's like black blue maybe. Yeah.
yeah the one that has black hair but less black hair than yes the girl on the left yeah got you her name is chi chi hi chi haru haru there we go chi haru yeah always chi haya always been a big chi haru fan and i will support her no matter what she does all right she's the set of the show this will be romance of the year calling it now i'm kidding more so than honey honey lemon soda
I bet there's actually like more romance in this than Honey Lemon Soda. Because I'm assuming Honey Lemon Soda is going to get to like 12 episodes and then something's going to happen. They're like, go read the manga. It's like, damn it. Yeah, true. I feel like this one will be a little bit more, which gives me hope.
If you are adapting, can you keep a secret? Can we please get an adaptation of sweat and soap? Please. Sweat and soap is my favorite adult cast like workplace romance ever. It's so fucking good. Give me sweat and soap. They fucking that. Okay. Dead silence. I had to leave something to get to. Okay. Well, any parting thoughts before we move on to the next show? No.
All right. Our next show is Zen Shu. After graduating from high school, Natsuko starts her career as an animator. Her talent quickly flourishes and she makes her debut as a director in no time.
Her first anime becomes a massive hit, sparking a social phenomenon and earning her the reputation of an up-and-coming genius director. Her next project is set to be a romantic comedy movie themed around first love. However, never been in love herself, Natsuko struggles to understand the concept of first love and as a result, is unable to create the storyboard, causing the movie production to come to a standstill.
A couple things about this one. It does look like a little meta commentary on like the animation industry. So if it's anything like Shirobako, I think it'll be really cool to highlight some of that. But I do think that this is going to tie into more of just like her journey of maybe finding love and understanding what that means. She has like a, I watched the PV and she seems a little bit like Chenebio-esque, but I'm assuming with her work effort and then hopefully being an adult, she's
that changes up a little bit but like her profile picture on malice is like her hair over her face so i don't know if she just has like that neat otaku personality that it looks like on like most chenebio characters but she's an animator she might just kind of be shy or whatever true if you're a director i feel you gotta be a little bit more but if she's the genius then who knows uh mappa is doing this a little surprising that they're taking a break from a lot of these
humongous action properties that they've been doing the last like four years um and lately they've done like uh buchigiri oblivion battery they're doing ranma so they're i mean ramazan has action and then they're now they're doing zenshu and then they're doing the rose of versailles movie so they're they're branching out a little bit before getting back into stuff like jujitsu kaizen and hell's paradise which comes out in 2026
So, I don't know if it's just like they're taking a break from making all this sakuga, but it's... I like when Moppet does something different, so... They could have sakuga in this, right? Oh, I bet they will. Yeah. Something like Isoken or whatever had some good, like, sakuga. Yeah, but that was science. Sorry, the goats. I mean, you're not gonna get me to disagree. This'll be interesting. Yeah, this looks tight. Do you think...
Do you think she somehow manages to fall in love with her main character? Oh, she's like a, the main character's name is Luke Braveheart. What a generic ass name. Yeah. She quickly, her, her, her, her anime writing was so good. She quickly became a director with Luke Braveheart in Unio the Unicorn. Don't think too hard on character names. Yeah.
um i'm trying to think she does have it seems like she does have the personality that would be like i'm like i'm happy as long as the person that i follow on this manga does well or i guess my character does great that that type of uh mindset there's also no genres listed which is interesting to me it's an original so that makes sense
you could you could tell people oh true i mean i'm based on this i guess it's drama romance like that's what i'm wondering like is there like a romance or whatever like or is it like it has to be right it has to be how else are you going to solve the problem of understanding first love in your storyboards if you don't actually fall in love unless it's falling yeah like you said before falling in love with something else maybe not an actual human being
Yeah. Yeah. Or she like just learns how to fake it until she makes it or whatever. Yeah. You know, like when I write my go on, I can't think of anything funny enough to put in there. I was trying to. And you know what? You can't win them all or any of them.
But yeah, I'm going to watch this. I like production-y things usually, and I always want to give anime originals a chance, especially when larger studios go out and do them. That is important to me.
uh because i like them more than manga and light novel adaptations most of the time but they are much more risky so i understand why that does not happen as frequently so i would like to support that um and i really i feel like this could go a few different directions and i'm excited to see see them what about you pete what are we thinking here yeah i mean i i like the idea of like
finding love and then using that as your storyboard i feel like they've done this that type of storyline before in some actually just violet evergarden but she has uh okay no i actually don't there i think i could think of another anime movie that kind of has this premise but it's more of like along the lines of like a film top filmography instead of being a director
Yeah, I mean, this looks cool. It's Moppa. I like the idea of that, all that stuff. I just wish we had more information on it. It's kind of hard to be like, yeah, this looks great when we have like a one minute PV and then a one paragraph synopsis, though. Yeah, I will watch it. Like, I'm interested in like, I love Pompa the Cinephile when I watched that. And that had some similar sort of vibes and everything to it. So yeah.
uh we we will have to see okay but i'm definitely going to be giving it a chance i mean i don't know mappa does good stuff so yeah yeah they're they're very consistent people hate on mappa so much it's like they're they're consistently very good though do they really what do they hate a mappa for well just like these do like all because before it was like
They did, like, One Punch Man, and then into JJK, and then Hell's Paradise. They just do, like, these big action shonen properties where it's like... Oh, so they did Dance Dance Dancer. They did Kakaguri. That show is so good. They did Sarazanmai. I'm watching that right now. Zombieland Saga. I think they'll just do action shows. That's a stupid take. They did Yuri on Ice, right? I agree, but the people saying that are only watching...
jujitsu kaisen hell's paradise one punch but they're not watching zombie land saga they're not watching i don't i make fun of the studio because they only do action shonen also i only watch action yeah that you say that but that's exactly what it is that's okay uh that's 100 what it is when people say like oh anime is so whatever it's like you don't watch anime you watch one thing yeah
Oh my gosh. Okay. Sure. I'm excited about that. I want to see what direction it goes. Cause like her characters from her anime are like listed as main characters, which like, do we get a concurrent plot of what she's directing as it goes on? Like I did, there's a lot of cool ways that they could do that. Or maybe it'll suck. Yeah.
Let's go. Becoming an ice dancer was not what Sukasa Akeuraji had aimed for when he decided to take on the figure skating world. However, it is where he ended up
As he started too late to follow his true solo skating dreams for years, he was content being a shell of his former ambitions. That is until he met a little girl in whom he saw himself. Inori Yui Suka, a fifth grader, so desperate to skate that she practiced in secret had visited Tsukasa's rink,
with her mother to ask for lessons she was branded as useless by everyone around her and told it was too late for her to begin and catching up to other skaters was impossible with newfound conviction and unwillingness to let another passionate skater go down the same road as him sukasa takes on responsibility of coaching her and promises to make inori a medalist
Pete, you can take this one away. I adore Medalist. It is fan-fucking-tastic. It's... The dynamic between the two reminds me a lot of, like, Reagan and Mob. And... Oh my god, dude. There's so many good things to say about this. How much of this have you read, then? I've read, like, the first three arcs or something like that. Okay. So...
I'm trying to think of what I could say without spoiling something. But if you're a fan of baby steps, if anyone's seen baby steps, you'll really like Medalist. It takes an approach...
two-figure skating where like they actually like use tech they like show techniques on why characters are getting better or getting worse um in their performances and their training and stuff like that along with like just this dynamic of a coach and skater type of dynamic i don't think we really have that a lot in like
sports animes because it's so focused on just like one person that's kind of why i brought baby steps since it's a tennis show and the guy kind of just plays by himself so this is kind of like the same thing where it's like inori is like fighting her battles of being a skater on the rink but then there's also like family stuff with her um which is i think this is an awesome nod it has one of my favorite like manga panels in the last like five years with inori and her mom um
it's great it's it's a story of like somebody telling you like they said in the synopsis where it's like it's too late to start you can't do this yeah it's like but if it's something that you want to do like you don't necessarily like like you don't have to like win gold necessarily you just you want us ice skate and that's sort of like inori herself but then she does have talent it's not like she's some like
person off the street and you're just randomly going to teach some random person to get better it's like she has to drive the work ethic the commitment she's doing all this shit before to like essentially prep herself for if she ever got the opportunity she would sort of thrive and it's really cool to see that actually be implemented into like a sports story so it's sort of just like you know what if you never like you wanted to play hockey but you couldn't afford the equipment you could still like practice
stick handling with like a tennis ball and so like that's sort of like what inori does when she wasn't able to actually ice skate they implement that into her like journey and it's awesome to see um
It's one of the best sports manga I've ever read. I essentially stopped reading it once they announced the anime just because I prefer watching anime. Issues, though, it's Studio Engi, who is not known for any true heavy hitters. Their highest property is the Otome Isekai, the I got stuck in a dating sim, which was great. I love that show. Don't get me wrong. I mean, it did their faces, their faces.
Do you not remember the issue with their faces in the animation? I don't, actually. Okay, yeah. Wow, yeah. So they have a few things, huh? Like they did... Uzaki-chan? Our dating story, which also had questionable animation. Terrible fanbase. What? Oh, that's the one where it's like the main female lead...
had sex before and so everyone called her a slut it's just like are you fucking kidding me is that the fan base of that show from my experience yeah
why would they watch that show then because they're losers that's what losers do you'll understand um i loved that show i i was like relatively high on it i think i gave it a seven i think i gave it a seven yeah i think you gave it a oh i gave it an eight you know what i'm right okay yeah yeah no i we we had some we had some fight because they're you know like the sister subplot um there's something at the end i didn't really enjoy
Yeah, yeah. You didn't like the sister being the fucking Chad and dressing up like your sister using that. Oh, that's right. That is that show. Yeah. Surprisingly common plot in anime. But yeah, no, I fucking I loved that. And I feel like with ice skating, you want good animation like really hard. Yep, I agree.
And that is my concern because everything I mean, there are shows that I have liked from this. I think that they can do a good job, but none of them have been so required to have, you know what I mean? Like the fights in the Atomic Game show weren't bangers or anything from a Sakuga standpoint. They had fun stakes. They were entertaining, but it had its issues. Do they do the detective is already dead?
I do not know. They did. That's another one. So we can get at least one good episode out of medalist. So hopefully they save it for, for something. Cause right. The first episode of that goes fucking hard. And then the rest of it is whatever. Wait, the detective is already dead. Yeah. It's not the one that had, yeah. Isn't there like an airplane scene and like,
Oh, yeah, that's the airplane one. Yeah, I don't know. I think I dropped the shot to the second episode. I just remember everyone being like, whoa. And then the next week, everyone being like, ah, no. So I don't know. That's what I thought on my list.
Yeah, I mean, I'm excited to watch it, provided that it's good. I'm just, I guess all of this to say I'm a little nervous about it. For the reason you've said, I like the idea of like getting someone and being like, hey, you can still achieve your dreams, even though you've like missed the optimum window to like start doing something. Like there's always, except for, okay, here's the issue. If we look at this PV, right? We're going to see the antagonists. Like in the antagonist coach is like really fucking cool looking.
He's wearing like a trench coat and smoking outside. He does smoke a lot. Yeah. And like the antagonist fifth grader looks cooler than our fifth grader.
She's very good, but she's also, I will say this, spoiler, she's very nice. Bummer. But the guy smoking is a complete asshole. Yeah, the issue is that he's really hot. Yeah, he's super hot. He's super hot. I'm gonna have to cheer for him. It's just... No, I get it. Okay, cool. I mean, he's... What a guy. What are your thoughts on Mellis? This dude is hot as shit.
Okay, wait, I just, I'm gonna get, okay, I'm gonna tell my friend Mark Wilson this, because this is the second shout out that I'm gonna give him this episode. I just got a text from him, and it says, so obviously I am ignorant here, I come from more western fantasy novels rather than manga, but is the portal fantasy style common in anime? Meaning Isekai. Yes, Mark. Yes. Yes. Some...
might say too common yes um sometimes they go through a portal called a gate and then they just name the anime after it and it's called gate um and then most of the time it's not it doesn't really matter that it's an isekai what matters is that the main character gets to fuck a lot of women um but he also doesn't but he could he could but but he never would
but he could. Yes. They're like throwing him. Anyways, they're a good isekai mark. I will send you some. Yes. But also, yes, insanely common. I'm excited to check it out again. The only concern that I like, I like the themes and everything. The studio has done shows that I've liked despite being kind of a middling studio. Yeah. But I also think
I'm just concerned. I'm concerned that it will be fucking, and sorry for my brain freezing here, PowerPoints of ice skating just continuously. You know what I mean? Like, oh, I finally landed a double axle and it's like, you know, it's not animated well. And like, I think that's important for
sports anime in a sort of a high amount just because of one how dynamic sports are but even things like facial expressions and like all of that it's like the thing about like iq does right when they're playing um volleyball they're playing volleyball um the blue the blue the blue and white school um
Yeah, yeah. The one with the coolest character that should have won. Yeah, yeah, yeah. And like he's going to try to like get the ball at the end because his teammate like missed it or whatever. And it's just all freaking out. And so like that's what I like in sports anime, you know, like the ping pong stuff where you have like the lording over people and just like the perspective of how they feel even. And I mean, season one of Blue Lock, there's like a lot of
like zooming in and like under like the facial expressions are crazy and go hard and stuff and i like that sort of thing you're gonna nice example obviously of sakura the gober so that's my only concern they really have no excuse early in this because they're like eight like they're not doing triple axles they're not doing backflips they're doing very basic stuff so if they do like you said powerpoint s stuff for these simple maneuvers compared to like yuri on ice no excuse
But there's a lot of good like actual drama in it. And actually, that's what I want to emphasize more. Okay. Which I think you should have told me that. I don't want to spoil too much, but I think that can be relied on like the voice acting compared to like the animation. So I'm not too concerned about that. But yeah, there are some like heavy hitting moments and mentalists. So I love it.
it's i i just hope it turns out like okay like i just don't want it to be bad like this is an award-winning manga like it is very well received and for it to get studio angie it's kind of like uh but it could be a doga koba moment who knows maybe they elevate yeah so the thing about doga koba is that they picked like again shikamori looked really good
It was just bad. The source material was bad. Pete, quickly, go super comfy, cozy, cute isekais that you like because apparently that is what Mark liked about... Oh, campfire cooking in another world. 100%. There we go. Mark, watch campfire cooking in another world. If you want cute, comfy stuff, do not ask me. Ask Pete.
If you want an existential crisis, ask me. Yes. Do you like pain and despair? Or do you like comfy animals?
oh goodness uh he's watching wrong way to use healing magic which i know i don't think it was that bad it was actually okay i thought i actually made like an underrated anime list and that was one of my 10 like oh i didn't know that you finished that uh for some reason i remember you and cosette like sort of arguing and she liked it and i didn't think you did oh no i like i it's so it's still like it's still a generic isekai don't get me wrong but they like it's this is like
asking for like the most minor things but like they develop their other cast members which is like a huge plus it's not just the main character which is like yay you did something else other than making the main dude super strong and just like having the idea of like
the main character like he can't really like fuck up people like he can't he's a healer so like the idea of like the main character like not being he is like overpowered in his own way but it's in like a different sense so that was kind of like a refreshing little bit it was and the main lead the main female lead in the show rose mama
Okay, well, you heard it here first. Now, speaking of generic isekai, this is our villainous show of the season.
Pete, we'll be talking about from bureaucrats to villainous stats. Let's go! Let's go! In his previous life in modern day Japan, he was Kenzaburo, a 52-year-old civil servant, and he is now the villainous reborn as Grace... Grace! The drill...
the drill haired villainous of an otome game his daughter used to play i'm just gonna call him ken ken is quite confused from the little information he possesses ken knows that he should be a haughty noble girl but the disciplined older man is simply unable to act in such a manner his
His calm and kind aura leads him to befriend the heroine and further endear him to the student body as the pinnacle of elegance. As he tries to keep the story on track, Ken will have to draw on his years of experience in the workforce, his perfect Japanese manners, and his family-oriented morals to fit in with the fellow kids. This is literally, how do you do, fellow kids? The villainous Isakai.
Um, normally wouldn't be super high on my list, but I know two people who have read this manga and they both really like it. So that gives me hope on that. However, I believe I have dropped the last three villainous shows I have watched. I think I just don't like villainous shows, but this one seems a little, uh,
different where the last three that you watched uh there was two last season um okay yeah okay you just watch way more anime than me i was thinking of like i was like it's the last like the seventh time loop was like two ago for me and i really like that i did like that one yeah yeah i think it's it's just like anything that you get three of a season the quality is going to be varying right like um
So I'm excited about this. I always get a little worried with like gender swapping stuff that'll be like not handled super well or whatever, and like made a joke or something like that. But from minimum research that I've done as not to spoil myself, I have...
I've heard relatively good things about it, and some of my friends have also done some research on it for me, as to not spoil myself, and they have said that they're interested in it. So, always good. So we'll have to see. Though I think it'll be like a fun bit. This is something that I...
I'll definitely give a go. Um, and I guess I might do it. I just get nervous on one. He's two villainous is three. When those have like a comedy touch, it's just, you know, there are just some shows that are, that are not great. And this is genre. Like I didn't even like, um,
my life is a villainous that much season one. I thought it was fine. Yeah. I felt me later. I did enjoy the first part, but I don't think I like villainous shows.
There are plenty of, I mean, I haven't watched like a ton of them, but like I liked Endo and Kobayashi. That show was great. Yeah. It like lasted a couple episodes too long, but like, but it had like high peaks for me. And I also like, you know, I like seventh time loop a ton. There are probably other ones that I am forgetting because a billion come out.
But I think that, okay, so if I look at the stacks, Victorian rich girl, the new subgenre is on the stacks. Yeah, right? Oh, word. Word? Oh, yeah. I like, I'm in love with the villainous. Not your cup of tea, but alas. I did like parts of it. Once they got to the incest part, I fell off of it real quick. That is completely fair. I...
I'm like, you know what? You do you, girl. You stay in your position. Yeah, you stay with your brother. Go for it. I will disagree. So yeah, I don't know. I'll give it a go. Like, Rinalia, that was good. Yeah, it was alright.
That's fine. I wouldn't like, I don't know. It doesn't feel like something you drop, right? Like I did. I did finish that one. Yeah. So yeah, but like a six for you is sometimes good. So it's always hard to tell because sometimes you're like, I enjoyed this show every week. Look forward to the show. Six out of 10. Yep. And it's like, oh, why? And it's like, it made me really happy, but it was a bad show. Like, okay. I also got a first for 10 out of 10, but they made me sad. So it's an eight.
Yes, you do. And I am eternally annoyed at it. But yeah, I think that it'll be interesting to see. I mean, to me, it's like eventually one of these has to hit hard. It just has to happen by the way numbers work, right? Like as number get bigger, odds of good get bigger. So yeah, that's sort of my thought.
I'll probably end up watching three episodes of this and drop it. Yeah.
the main dude reminds me of east the isekai uncle mc and i really like isekai uncle so yeah this is something that we're okay one this is gonna be better than isekai uncle i'll not have to be really tough i loved isekai uncle you are a coward for that you're a coward no i'm not a little boy not a coward no you're a coward no you are no you you're a coward you're a coward you're scared
Because Isekai Uncle didn't bring that elf into the real world, and they're cowards. I have said before, if that doesn't happen, it's a 0 out of 10. But until the story is not complete, I'm gonna let it cook. Schrodinger's Isekai Uncle. Yes. That is...
And so this avoids that issue by having the uncle in the world already. Like it has to happen. It's not just like a look back at him being absolutely oblivious as that elf throws herself at him. So I don't know.
And Isekai is more than just SAO. Yes. In fact, SAO is not even one of them. Yeah, it is debatable as especially after season one because they're just playing a video game and they can leave whenever they want. It's a rather useless term, honestly, but Isekai is in fact a term we all use. So
That is, this is our live chat with my friend, Mark. Yeah, this is an isekai. Okay, I was wondering if this actually was an isekai because like, well, one, it says it is, but like dad's been reincarnated and I'm curious how we know that. I will guess we're all fine within the first five minutes of episode one.
Maybe something nowadays, the backstories for like reincarnation are like, for some reason I was reincarnated. Oh, they just skip it. Yeah. Yeah. Which I find refreshing. Um, just get to the point, but yeah, those are my thoughts there. Um, definitely going to give it a go. I hope it's funny. Okay. Right on. Yeah. I think this looks pretty funny. I have, I'm really looking forward to it, but before we jump into the sequels miles, are there any other shows from this season that
that's on your list yeah i do have a couple um rare i know and i totally prepared and have them right where i need to go first go first sure okay so there's a handful of ones i'm looking forward to uh anyway i'm falling in love with you reverse harem looks really fun
uh hoping that that is good if it's anything like it's a shoujo so if there's anything like kiss him not me or something like that that should be a good time uh flower and asura which is the high dive exclusive for next season i believe it is a um like school drama looks pretty good small town type of thing i don't think there's any murder sorry miles uh we mentioned this earlier in the intro welcome to japan ms elf
can't fucking wait for this one i think it looks great i i don't know something about you know how i don't like voter shows exact opposite with elves fucking love it's got if it's got an elf it's good at seven pretty much what if what if an elf is the villainous yo in one of these shows like yo yo you're onto something my man i like that you hear that you hear that japan
Villainous elves. Somewhere in your plethora of light novels that give that one an adaptation because surely it exists. But yeah, I mean, elves already are hoity. And so like.
Give that, give us, give us that for sure. Uh, story. Oh, utility, the golf one shot. The one that we had that turned into a series. I like the one episode thing that we got. So I'll definitely be checking out the series itself. The Okinawa rom-com. I don't know what the fuck that means. So I'm intrigued to see what the Okinawa rom-com is. It looks kind of fun. Um, I can move MD, Dr. Detective, uh,
It looks like she's a doctor and also a detective. Wait, where is this? Yeah, it's called A-M-E-K-U. Okay. Yeah, how the fuck did I not notice doctor detective? Yeah, doctor detective. I don't know if it's going to be like house detective.
where she's like so i don't know of course it won't be like oh i thought you meant like tonally no no yeah yeah she's addicted to painkillers yeah you know like and she's just like an absolute awful person but we all give her a pass because she's like snarky uh yes yeah that one looks i don't know i feel like that one's gonna be like a 10 or a 4 so i can't wait and the last one is i'm getting married to the girl i hate in my class i think this show's actually gonna suck
uh but i like watching trash every now and then so if i have one like trash show i think this is going to be it though that is all i'm watching for new shows miles enemies the lovers is like the best genre of media it ain't bad um and therefore that show will be good i was right about yakuza family um never forget
or Yakuza fiance or fucking whatever. Yeah. That show. Yeah. I love Yakuza fiance. Yeah. And you were hating on it when we did our brief view. Well, um,
i wasn't hating i had i was scared about some things that could or could not happen and they and you said it you're scared not me you finally got it you can i was i'm not scared of you i'm scared of your kooza fiance no i never said well who would be scared of me man my heart doesn't work correctly i have scoliosis like not very intimidating
So the main one and Dr. Detective is now on this list. Pete listed some of the ones that I'm excited about. Things that he didn't list. I want to escape from Princess Lessons. I'm going to give this a go. It'll be bad. It sources like a manga from a 6.5, but like I kind of really like the...
idea of some princess trying to like not be a princess and slowly falling in love with a prince and like dealing with that. That seems fun. Um, it'll probably suck. Um, but you know, whatever. Uh, and then the Tasso Kada hotel or like the, it's like a hotel where it's like always twilight. There's no distinction between night and day. There are like souls and stuff going through. It just sort of has like a supernatural mystery feeling, uh,
To me, it sort of feels like in like some ways death parade where it's like people can like regain their memories by doing things in the hotel. Like, I don't know the exact synopsis of this, but it gives me vaguely those vibes.
so i'm excited to watch that and that's it for shows that i plan on watching that pete i don't think mentioned the okinawa thing pete is just going to be in like a tropical setting i imagine and yeah but the whole thing it's like her dialect or something like that and i don't know it looks kind of cute and fun i'll give it a shot i don't know if it's something good or not but it looks looks a little fun and i want to visit okinawa so maybe i can get some uh
ideas landmarks that would be like oh because i don't know how many anime are based in okinawa there's not there are some but there's not a whole lot raven raven is one yes and that that's all i've got all right cool let's get to the sequels then big one big one the apothecary diary season two who
As somebody who liked Apothecary Diaries, I liked the first part. I loved the second part. I can't wait. I fucking love Mau Mau. Mau Mau's the GOAT, like for real. This is coming off the end of one of my favorite episodes of last year with the lock-in buying out the contract to get his wife back type of thing. I love that episode. And I just can't wait to see where this progressed because...
I think there's so many things that they are left untold that we're going to get another two cores of. And it's just Mau Mau who doesn't love Mau Mau. Miles, you gave Apothecary Diaries a 10. Are you excited for this or not? Yeah, I'm quite excited about this. You know, Kayla and I are both very excited about this. Mau Mau is the goat. She is the doctor detective of the show. Yeah.
And so I'm just sort of excited about more intrigue and mystery solving and good character dynamics and all of that. I think it's just a very great show and I can't wait to see more of it. And hopefully just like keeps on going like forever. It just never stops. There's never less. I, you know, I,
It sells like hotcakes. It was like the number four manga in Japan or something crazy like that. Like, yeah, it's really good. It is really good. Yeah. So, you know, I'm excited to, to keep going with it. And, you know, it, it was like,
I don't know. Malo is like one of my favorite anime characters ever. It's like not my favorite anime character ever. So yeah, she's really good. Yeah. It'll be, it'll just be good to get more of her and her interactions with Jen. She and all of that. So I'm always excited for this. I've been looking forward to this since it's been announced. So yeah,
uh color me stoked yeah this will be crazy that mao mao will be nominated for best girl three years consecutive so that should be fun she ain't never lost never lost uh the next sequel is the one that i think
I don't know. Do you want this more than Apothecary dies? I do. I do. And like, maybe that's wrong and like whatever, but like tell the people what it is. It goes, it just goes bird. Okay. So, uh, we're talking about, uh, bang dream. I can't believe it's not human echo, AKA music. Uh, the die is cast, um, a show they are confident enough in that they ditched the bang dream name for the Western release. Um,
which is very bold of them. I love that. Me too. So this follows the band Ave Musica, who is the last episode we see them sort of come together of My Go, sort of shadowing over, making the rest of that useless fucking show irrelevant as it proves to be the coming of the greatest anime ever made. I don't know. Maybe, but,
I just really fuck with this vibe. I really love their band. Like I've listened to a ton of their music now and think it's very good. The aesthetic they do, which is sort of like a Gothic horror, Victorian gas lamp era aesthetic is, but like a, like a ball sort of thing is, is great. The way that they like put on a whole performance is,
before their song where they were like talking about being dolls and stuff I like absolutely love I don't remember if you remember this but when we were talking about Girls Band Cry I mentioned like I loved the marionette scenes in that OP I'm a very consistent man you are it's consistent I I do constantly you're right um
And so I don't know. It seems like the drama is just going to be like very up to this. It'll like maybe be higher stakes. Like we have like an abusive father is one of the things that we like already know about, like an alcoholic one. And like, that's pretty grim for bang dream from what I've seen. Yeah. A hundred percent. So, you know, we're turning up the drama, like,
Okay, fucking... Here is the... After losing everything in a single night, Sakiko Togawa reaches out towards an even deeper abyss, one that will drag everyone around her down as well. I'm fucking about this. I hope...
I it's always risky because it's big dream right and these large fucking mega corpse you know like Bushido Road music or whatever that owns you know this second largest idol gotcha game thing they don't like doing risky things that their characters right and
But I just kind of feel like we're going to get that. We're going to get some spice. I certainly hope so. The voice actresses were talking about how it's been directed close to like being a psychological horror more so than a girl's band show. I hope so. And I would lose my fucking mind if that happened. It's like literally everything I want. So yeah,
You know, I'm very excited for this. I have, you know, it of course lends the opportunity to let me down, but I have not been this hyped for something since, like, Witch from Mercury. That's a lot. Yeah, right? Like, I saw the Witch from Mercury preview, and for whatever reason, it, like, really resonated with me, and I was, like, super excited to watch it. And then it absolutely lived up to, like, what I was...
you know doing as i have an insane amount of witch for mercury merchandise all over my room i got my sule and my mio i have my other sule and mio i have my little this sule you know uh uh tells me you like it i do um oh wait is this a fourth you know it is it's crazy
I caught, I didn't realize it was that much. You sort of have a problem, man. I do. And have I already bought an exclusive of a music, a poster from comic cat this year? Yes, I have. What?
what the fuck sucks i know but this is a difference between us remember when you were talking about getting the naz read tattoo i did and you're like i'll do it if they win and i'm like nah it doesn't fucking count you have to do it before that is my mindset i'm so glad i didn't do that i'm so glad i didn't listen to you it would have been way cooler if you listen to me because i believe we're losing to the hawks
currently as we are recording and if i got a non-three tattoo we lose to the hawks i might it might be over oh we're way by three just kidding oh my god but yeah that is that is where we are and for me it's like i think it looks cool yeah i i don't know i'm going for it i'm super excited i'm more excited than this than my go that's for sure
Yeah, I think that's true for everyone. I think so too. Well, yeah, we'll see. Okay. Another banger. Actually, me and Miles have gone extensively into detail on this show. My happy marriage season two. Now that we have like meal awakened, I think that the stakes are definitely going to get ramped up this season. I can't wait to see more of their relationship because I feel like they're finally like a real couple and
And I hope they just do couple things with supernatural powers. I think it's going to be sick. How about you? What are you thinking about for my happy marriage? I hope that she commits arson. Cheek? What? You want to start burning buildings? Yeah, yeah, yeah. Arson is hot. Comment if you agree.
Yes, I cannot be wrong. It's impossible. But no, I mean, I really enjoy the show. I think that they're I like the way that their relationship goes. Mio, an example of a shy protagonist that I really like in one of these. I think that.
The reason she is so shy and everything is very well examined. And they do a good job of focusing on how her and Kyoka need to work through their communication issues. And they both realize that and talk about it. And it's great. And they do better as they go forward. Who knew? And there's a lot of fun characters in this show. And it has a pretty interesting hook. I think that...
season one didn't like super dive into all of the supernatural stuff like obviously it does a little bit um but like i feel like that's like pretty looming and it hasn't dropped yet right like they haven't well she like awakened in like the last part of season one yeah but i also mean like the fact that there's a zombie army coming oh yeah yeah that too that that lingering threat of the wall yeah yeah yeah and they're all just like
Oh, yeah, that's going to happen. Hey, we'll deal with it. Yeah, it is what it is. That's what they said in the show. You know, so that is, you know, I'm excited to watch this. This was aired, I think, like concurrently with Apothecary Diaries or around the same time. Yeah, prequel, I think.
um this might have been summer and then apothecary diaries was that fall uh not completely sure but i know this is another one kayla and i'm gonna be watching together hell yeah that is good um it's another exciting show so word another one that you and kayla are watching are soul leveling season two i'll be watching it i yeah people this is like a show where it's just like
As long as it just continues doing what it does and doesn't try to be something it's not, I'm fine with it. I think this is one of the most consistent 8 out of 10 things I've seen ever. It's just, it's very pretty. The power scaling is like irrelevant. I don't really care. I just want to see him do cool shit. And now that he's a fucking necromancer now, like who knows what the possibilities are literally endless because he can just continue to just keep getting new classes. I feel like so.
Um, yeah, the first season was a lot of fun with a lot of people getting punched and killed. So I like that miles. So leveling you and Kay. Yeah. A hundred percent. Kay was a big solo leveling fan. I mean, I, I really like solo leveling. I think it absolutely promises on what it delivers. Um, which is a big thing for me. I don't think it wastes its time.
which is another big thing for me. He solo levels. Yes, he does. And it is enjoyable for me. I think the fights are pretty good. Like the last episode where he's in that throne room. I thought that went burr. Yep. I know you weren't as high on it as other people were, but I was. I give him an eight.
so i didn't mean the show i mean like that fight in particular oh yeah i did like the first part better than like the end but like the fact that necromancer if we play like any form of like rpg if the necromancer is a class i'm playing it it's my favorite yeah so the fact that he is now a necromancer is sick so like the fight was cool like don't get me wrong like
but like you said it went burr like that it was just like a cool fight that's literally all i need from yeah yeah to go against to go burr yeah exactly that's what it did so it was nothing nothing like there's no like emotional connection to like the character during the fight or anything it's just like i'm the cool necromancer guy now it's like yeah what the fuck am i a nerd yeah it
Did you just talk about buying a Kamiket poster a second ago? Yeah, for a girls band show. I sure did. Loser. Loser. Loser. Loser. And you know what? Shipping from Japan is not cheap. It cost more than the poster. It did. It was the majority of the cost. But I believe that
So very hard.
that we're going to get there. But I also think we'll get there on solo leveling. The thing I'm looking most forward to is for whatever reason, I get a lot of YouTube shorts about Jinwoo and Jin-A, his sister. Yeah, me too. What the fuck is up with that? It's because Jin-A definitely wants to fuck him. Oh, that too. But why do I specifically get solo leveling content? Yeah, unsure. Never search for it. Never talk about it.
It's just, I definitely clicked on it once because I remember thinking the scene where he like comes out and he's like wicked hot. And she's like, wait a minute is like, was like kind of funny. Yeah. Um,
and so i was like let's see what they did for this and then now i'm just in a youtube short hell where it's like one out of every five of my youtube shorts and they just like progressively and i don't think i've watched any since the first one but it seems to progressively get yeah more unhinged which is kind of fun maybe i should listen to them or watch them or whatever yeah um
But I don't know. I like solo leveling. People really like the Manwa. There's like enough corporate espionage stuff going on to like keep the scenes where he isn't solo leveling interesting. Is there anything else to say about it? Nope, not really. But we'll get to our last sequel, which is the sequel to 100 Girlfriends Who Really, Really Like You. Miles is jacked. Based off of the PV art, it looks like we're probably getting five new girls this season.
that's just completely guessing based off that i enjoyed the first season i gave it an eight that was fun uh miles did not like it one bit so i'm assuming you will not be watching season two i don't i don't think so it's a little tempting because i love to be a hater 100 um i'm like a big fan of it what i don't like is
uh, is this show? Yep. Um, I do not think it is funny or not. Like I did the mom get involved in the show. She's one of the girlfriends. Yeah. That's not funny. That's stupid. Um, I fucking hate it. Um, I just hate the show. The show is just everything I hate about like anime, but they're like poking fun at it, but they're not really poking fun at it. They're like, isn't it funny that we're doing all of these things in one show? Um,
There's that scene where the vice principal or whatever, like sexually assaults him. Yeah. Sucks him dry. That wasn't funny either. And that's like the main theme of the show. The main theme of the show is that it's not funny. And I'll stick to that every time we've said this or I've said that I shouldn't put Pete in this boat. It's just me. People have like left us comments about how I just don't get it or whatever. And I get it.
no i you don't know i understand no i i get it no i'm well aware of what's happening yeah yeah i like i don't like jay thinks this is like his goat when i watched i thought this was just like fine like i there were some parts that were like you had this at like a nine at least halfway through the show no no no it was like always at eight no it was like always at eight there's some parts are like super extra like the hakari and karane stuff i think is very extra and like
clearly there for a specific reason i'm just like whatever but some of the other aspects can be kind of funny uh shout and uh shizuka that's my girl uh she was my favorite but how old is shizuka uh probably a first year i'm guessing she's 16 according to mal sorry i can only see a picture of her understandable she's very small but i thought she was cute and funny and i like the
the the messages that she because she talks through her phone and some of the things that she says on her phone or whatever is pretty funny yeah i think that's it winter will be here before we know it and i have a feeling about i'm gonna put this on the record i'm gonna say i'm gonna drop six shows this season that's where i'm leaning at i'm gonna probably drop less uh and that is because i am much less willing to take
risks than you are. You're also not watching six shows. I watch more than six shows. If I'm doing a full seasonal, I usually watch like 12 shows or something like that and don't drop any of them.
That's probably how many I watched in summer or whatever. Fall, I think I only watched three. But I usually don't drop stuff because I'm picking stuff I'm more sure I'll like. And then sometimes I will finish things so that I can be on the review and hate on them if I hate it enough. I get it. So shout out to NoCaton. Thank you.
but yeah um i'm excited for winter um and i look forward for our subsequent shows pete yeah uh yeah winter looks fine i think it'll be fine season i think so i have some like heavy hitters at the top i think i think i'm gonna give a i have a feeling i'm gonna give a lot of sevens next season that's all i'll say
I mean, there are even sequels we didn't talk about, right? There's like a Dr. Stone sequel. Yeah, Dr. Stone, which after Stone Wars, I was like, that's kind of enough. Toilet Ball and Hanukkah Coon, I know a lot of people like that. I thought it was okay, so I'm not going to continue it. For Preston, Undamed Memory Act 2. It's a show that everybody hates in our Discord.
uh most people dropped it but preston continues to do a week by week breakdown but people can continue hating on oscar the main lead because everybody hates oscar feels he's the goat preston does a lot for our discord and we appreciate him yeah he's all right uh i believe you you think i'm getting married to a girl i hate in my class is gonna be bad i think that shows will be very bad
I can be wrong. You certainly can. And also, since we're talking Preston, me being wrong doesn't mean I miss. There's a big difference. Big difference. But yeah, I think that's about it. You got anything else that's on your mind before we head out?
