Welcome to addition baby rent. I'm tom. I am here, Robin.

This is A V rent. It's your home, Peter and A V questions answered. And I hope everybody enjoyed the double episode. Last week was like four and a half hours baby rate last week. So if I had thought .

IT realized IT was thanksgiving this week, I would just just save that episode for this. And then we went, I could be doing things with my family instead of talking. You talking.

you still have lots of questions. answer. And yes. Happy thanksgiving, everybody.

Happy american thanksgiving. Not that we're canadian when that happens. It's all weird what's beyond I also didn't bring any liquid near at the all so so fun fun posts. I won't have to take a back room break like a north.

I guess. So yeah, I mean, we'll just say that it's because tom is out of practice. But then again, but doing this for decades almost at this point in the at the lack of liquid is a running gag at this point.

So at this point, tom will leave anyways for some reason or another at the dog will freak out. The kids will get up.

So my king in the room, kids are in the house.

SHE is over there being good OK, thankfully. Yeah, but there is long guys everywhere. Just can I go on by on golf cars right now and everything? So if I looked to that's what's going on, that's what IT is yeah so quick update.

I have not done much podcasts. Workers SE as far as A V is concerned for last week received a couple of things. I don't remember what they are because I sent them to you and I completely forgot about IT.

I thought a new phone. okay? I got a pix nine, not the nine pro, because who cares about this minor technical upgrade they made for the pro that I kiss the same case, it's the same as the same phone. Is her like the processor is a little Better as of anal? No, didn't care.

I'll I care that what was surprised, and I was going from five, which I decided over the last two weeks or so, that the screen, yes, sometimes that react to your finger and sometimes a dog, I had to turn the phone, I would have to, like you, press the power, but not powered off, we just know, shut down the screen and then unlock IT to get to start responding Normally and have to do that over over again. Well, that's certainly something I could do, is not something I wanted to do. And I wanted to beat the terrains that are run away to make everything change of. So I went ahead and I told my wife, i'm like to get new phone and i'm looking at and then I found out that there is a black friday sale coming up. So so I just waited for that in the man, I mean, I A minute I went on sale, I ordered .

IT every day.

My wife, like, do you like, do you like you're not not really talking about your new phone and you're not really talking about how much you like your new phone. I'm like google has just made IT, and i'm sure iphones are the same way, but google has made IT insanely easy to to switch from one phone to the other. Like my phone looks the same IT acts the same IT like specific apps have mysteriously disappeared.

Like, so I was like, where is where are these apps out of order? Is because messenger a, the facebook messenger APP mysteriously did not don't load with all the other apps. Don't know. It's like you ve got to do that one manually. We hate jeff us, which, but yes.

have to do about facebook meson. Oh yeah.

those who whose face.

who mark zab g zab.

whatever they're the same person kept pretty close.

Now, yeah, they're all up in space. Seven a party.

I got my eyes checked, I got new glasses, ordered my wife found an office that was going other business, or closing or moving or something, and they had four hundred office chairs to give away and were going to go get some office chairs for free office. No, we did not bring all four hundred home, but you did manage to cram for them in the back of a small S U V SHE drinked. The mean, so good.

I was like, I don't think I D like, take one of the arms off because they had kind of locked together. Lovers embrace that rivals like the mommies that you find and twine the bones or entwined. So so we've got that he has just been, and that my sons home from college for the week.

So my midst son, who was at a florida state, came home. And we've been a trend, spends much time with him as possible, which has been nice. It's it's we get the whole family together. And good, much like apartment living, is sleeping on .

the couch because to sleep, you.

So yes, it's been it's been fine. I mean, we're kind settling in here and trying to I cooked my first meal. I mean, I know it's mean I immediately realized that we don't have a can opener, right? It's like things like I know we, I know we have one somewhere I was in the box, I think maybe get throw away. I know I don't see .

why opening cans without a easy pop top lid with just a knife is how do people do that for so long back in his old days? No.

and my day and my day, I had to open up cans with the school driver. And okay, in my days we used to cut our lips on the cans of coke, literally waited into the podcast are to for these two guys would blow us to walk by like they were what they do. They did that last week. Is this.

So when you following right after the other.

they were right. I was out there earlier, walk in the dog and they were twenty feet away. Okay, okay.

And that does not. That was like an hour and half ago. IT doesn't take an hour and half to blow this this amount.

Maybe all are three of them. I take that back. We're up to three now. perfect.

More leaves. All right.

I will tell you that other box cases have gotten ridiculously expensive already over after getting for my pixel five, which I think the reason that started dying was because my order box vender case, I just finally give gave up, the ghost fell apart, so I I went to go buy another one. And I like, now we don't make those anymore. Those don't exist for pixel lives. I was like, okay, like I can buy this slightly used one for one hundred and twenty dollars on like she's I don't think so. So I got some amazon meo, whatever brand that has more constants and value and IT.

So i'm sure you'll be able to find that exact thing again in couple of weeks.

I just love how they just gave up on those brands. They just gave up there is like somebody just smashes .

the keyboard and that's too long of keyboard that's good .

of just delete any of the special characters. This is gonna letters. Know how many we got left? Seven, that's probably right ago, was seven, three of a moran age. I don't worry about .

IT will not worry about alizon IT inalterable is just fine.

So they, I bought some no name case, and then I drop my phone like crazy. I I dropped my phone like I get paid for IT like I get paid by the number of times I drop my phone and the screen immediately started having issues after that. So i'm in that case was the worst like non c non slip case. I'm like if they had made IT out of greece, IT could not have been sleepier IT was just IT was just I grab IT like a bora shoot rather than my hand.

Well, i've been enjoying my totally all truth in the case that I ve used. I I usually go case less, but and I needed something mainly I I didn't like any of the colors of of the iphones when I got my last iphone. So I just got one of the totally super, super, super thin cases. And I do enjoy those, although over time IT works itself a little bit loose and it's start to get a little flappy at this point.

You use those pog things on the background of your point.

I ve never used the little pop pop top. Um I think I like those .

things and I think I would like IT, except that I also like inductive charging and I think those things make make that impossible. So superthin case is the way to go.

But speaking of like thanksgiving and black friday time and buying things and maybe trying to buy something before the canadian dollar uteri takes, if all of these absolutely insane tariff s really do come to pass, even though that is obviously just an exaggerated threat, but then again, stuff that if you thought was obvious is not necessarily obvious sand who dos what the future is actually going to be.

So before the canadian dollar becomes worth about you know ten cents us, which is the most likely thing that's going to happen. Um I I am gonna pick up from a best buy in washington states since we don't have all the stock here in canada. Um some of those make six incessant speakers, even though I have zero use for them at this point, zero zero use whatsoever. I'm just gonna them okay because I I enough I hear .

what you're saying. You're not you're like some day i'll have a house and then i'll need these speakers. But by the time you get that house, it's not like the speakers don't. They will go bad eventually.

So bad about this old. They are okay.

Not if you should leave in the box. I think that that's a bad idea you might be. But you know.

there are hundred dollars a pair right now. So it's not really the end of the world. That's one hundred dollars so that, you know, two thousand canadian dollars in a couple of weeks. That's why I ve got to do IT.

Now I was thinking about, i'm going buy another apple T. V. Four cake. The two I had what I had one from the listener that I was using, I don't remember, which is the listener send that to me, I was using that one and then I had the second one as a back up that I was going to sit in my parents house um before women and then they that those girls got ruined.

So i'm thinking about buying one of the second gene, apple T V 4, the ones I have the the e internet port on the back. yes. Um you can still get those there a little bit more expensive.

You can still get them at best by o i'm thinking if I get one of those, but we shall see if I can get myself to actually do IT yeah I so I guess maybe just really quickly since we're kind of on the topic anyways before we get into what you watch and and really watch much um with what best or not best by but black friday sort of Christmas is sort of deals. Are you looking at rob? What's crossing your rare .

and interesting for me IT really is those make six in ceiling speakers. The only thing i'm particularly looking at black friday as I did all my Christmas shopping for family and friends early as I as I typically do, I don't worry too much about Price points of yet. I could save myself money by by waiting until all the sales are here.

But um you know what, i'm trading off the the mental worry and hassle and stressed that. And also our canadian postal service is on strike right now. Um so that definitely impacts shipping times and things even though, yes, we have the careers and everything to work around.

That either increases the shipping Price on things or it's like, I don't know what IT is about our careers. There isn't a single career in my area that I like that went smoothly. There is always something that goes wrong with any of the careers, and I far prefer our postal service. I always choose that when that's an option for shipping. But IT isn't right now with them out on strikes.

I'm glad I did, although although there are still two items that I ordered in early november that that all held up the postal strike and have not reached my doors so i'm open that all gets sorted out but yeah I haven't been looking at too much uh black friday ways but um you know since obviously doing the podcast people actually in question IT definitely seems like a lot of people are gonna getting themselves some kind of OLED TV this Christmas season because there are really good deals, uh, black friday deals on a lot of OLED tvs, other tvs too, of course. But it's very noticeable on the olets because they were at higher Price points and now they are dropping quite precipitously at black friday times. That's the most obvious thing to keep .

an I yeah I think so too for me. That's where I think the the. If you are into A V and you're thinking, which should I get, which I be, keep my eyes open.

IT is definitely displays displays or just jealously. Cheap right now. And I mean, just we've been talking about that for years, how they're coming down in pricing, going up in size.

And I I mean, I just bought that OLED. I just bought that OLED. And I what four months ago maybe was .

a little bit more that.

But yeah, IT wasn't that much more than that. IT wasn't that much more than I can already get a bigger CD for cheaper. I spent on that .

to be bigger wouldn't be yeah.

but IT IT IT would be bigger enough and cheaper enough because at the time we were kind of looking at know a couple of OLED and then a couple of uh, lcds and with me a full very local dimming old stuff that I would care about and never pay on this post I should care about. But then the Price delta wasn't that much, wasn't enough for me to go. I'll take a little bit of the performance said. And now i've had that OLED can be very hard for me yeah not to have an OLED but even then, I mean, like yeah.

there's still a pretty big jump in the old leds from the seventy seven to the eighty three.

That's still a pretty big Price jump whereas you can definitely get an eighty five inch mini L D full ray local demand quantum dot L C D T V eighty five inch for the same Price as the seventy seven inch OLED easily and then even the ninety eighty inch options, like if you not go for the flagship ninety eight, you get a ninety eighty for pretty, I mean, for the same Prices and eighty three and old that definitely, in fact, less than that, quite handy. So yeah, I mean ninety eight that is really notice. Ly bigger.

right? So that means is interesting if if I mean, there's a lots of speaker, speaker type things that are out there. But right now, I feel like last time is during like super bowl on those sorts of things is where we start looking at deals for TV. But the tvs right now, I think I think this is the Christmas for A T V. If you been think about T, V.

this is there still seems to be quite a lot of stock of twenty, twenty three models. And those are really, really precipitously Price dropped right now. To get real. The last stock of those twenty two twenty three.

So that is I mean, yeah especially again with all leds like there wasn't that gigantic performance difference from the twenty twenty three to the twenty twenty four is really small difference in in actual picture performance of getting up twenty twenty three old ed right now is is probably the hottest deal that's out there. Although when we get to our very first news story, not a matter of Price but just a matter of potentially future availability, yeah might want to hop on. And if you receiver if you are ever in .

the market for every receiver, a more expensive. So let's look about what we watch and we will get to all that stuff.

okay. So yeah, I am leading this off custom, as he explained, really didn't watch too much at all. But I think i'll start with the with the movie that I watched this week, which was I finally got around to seeing danson dragons honor among heaves.

I love that movie.

Yeah, yeah. So I could .

have been Better. There is no doubt that that could have been Better, but it's so much fun.

This is, I mean, this is the perfect quintin til fun family movie. I mean, and that's clearly what they were aiming for. I guess this probably had A P G thirteen rating because there's a couple of us words and there's definitely some fantasy violence, but it's like there are full blown sd fights and stabbings and even about heading with zero blood like they were definitely going for that pg thirty rating because there is not a singular drop of blood in this movie whatsoever, but they're definitely is the fantasy sort .

type violence going on. P G.

makes sense. That would have been pg in canada for shark because this would not have reason to the level of a fourteen eight no question um but yeah yes so Chris pine and Michael rud rigas and so a little less so you'd probably know from stranger things you grant in this as well. But I always I have to mention justice Smith that that guy is always a stand out to me once again.

There he is. You might not even recognize him first blush because he's got that kind of slightly forgettable face. He's not like super duper recognizable face, but it's is one of these guys is like, is he sixteen or is he thirty five and the answer is yes, he can play anywhere in that range.

And we totally in high school high on one movie, somebody is a it's up and it's .

also like, is he a cowardly weakling or is he kind of kick us and it's like also, yes, he's just tremendous range on that guy. So he's he's standing up and yeah I mean, this movie definitely rides on the the sheer charm level of Chris pine. And you know what, he's up to the task. He's a charming dude charming's son of a gun.

I saw him in that wine movie that he made that where he's wearing the terrible wig the entire time. I was still like men. Now, wig is bad, but this movie is pretty good.

But yeah, also wanted to mention a Daisy head who's playing kind of the big bad. I wrote this movie, so i've been fantastic with that already. If you just see her in Normal life, she's got quite a gone look with quite slow sunk sort of eyes that's just naturally her features.

Um and then they they enhance that dramatically. The makeup is like, oh yeah, looks like a walking school right there. That where he played .

that was probably my least favorite part of this movie not because he's bad, because he's fine, but he's just also kind of noticeably you grant yeah.

he's a little one, but he was having fun. He looked like he was having fun at this. Yeah, everybody looked like they were having fun.

So I mean, the the Green screen is like really obvious and in this movie, but what they hold on that Green screen for the budget that this movie was made like, that's pretty impressive. Like I don't know who's working away in the sweatshops to put all those graphics of screen, but I was kind of impressive. What they did with .

this pledges know this movie was so set up to .

have a secret of franchise is yeah is going to be a friendly franchise.

I'm just like, why hasn't the next movie come out as they used didn't .

make enough money for them to be gun hole about you in a second?

Ah to me this is like this is the one where the second movie makes a bgi. Yes, I mean, the first one does just barely good enough in the second one.

what spreads and everyone like you, what that was Better than I expected to be IT IT was entertaining. You can absolutely bring the family and have a fun time so you bring out this equal and let's go see IT because I was impressed with the first one yeah I totally agree that I think I will uh, the next one, to do Better, they would need to keep at least some of the same cast you'd want to follow through, a bit like we've done with the new jg movies, say, because you can have the same actors, but they could be a new dungeon's and dragons team like they don't have to literally be the same characters necessarily.

Because a bit like you mongie, you can put other characterize zo into these people and I would still you could still do that 是 i suppose。 Yeah, I did get a kick out of the pudgy dragon that that was a highlight. I found the pudgy dragon very, very entertaining. Um so yeah, this is definitely an easy films up is IT onna change your life and become your favorite thing ever probably not it's not pe of thing but it's like, yeah man there's like what nothing to complain about in this movie. It's it's got some hard to IT IT like IT has the humor but IT also give some pathos IT has like when IT needs to be seriously take IT seriously and it's like.

yeah well done, well done like I was come saying about you grant, that huge ant is noticeably hugh grant like in the movie he just kind of you just like s he's like, too big for this movie that makes sense but somehow Chris pine, who was also big, he just he feels to me and it's probably because the lines and everything else. But he feels to me like he just fits him Better and he supports the other characters um a little bit more. Whether you grants character is like he walks in rome like crap there's you were in is right there right .

yeah this is this is a fun home theory experience ah I don't know if I would like be effusive about the the visuals and the audio but it's like every the movie through and through is just solid, is just, yes, done well. Everybody is good on their game, do in good work and it's like it's it's just a solid good time of a movie. So big comes up for me for that.

Uh, no, I did want to mention on the technical level, I did watch this on netflix while I am subscribing to netflix for a single month. Um and i'm like just the the Prices in canada on the netlist subscriptions are ridiculous. I'm like, you know what i'm going to do.

I'm going to do the thing I don't want to do. I'm going to get the basic plan with the ads because that's the the jump in Price. You IT goes from six dollars for the months to twenty two dollars for the months.

And like, well, I guess I call for the six dollars because there's literally one thing I want to watch on the flex. But while I have IT, I might as well check out dungeons and dragons, oh my goodness, the experience of watching netflix, basic with ads. And like, I guess i'm gona have to pay the stupid twenty two dollars.

This is IT ruins IT IT unit ruins the experience. It's like it's not that the ad breaks are particularly long or that there's too many of them is just man or man. Is that daring when that stupid ad comes in and they do the thing where at every scene change, it's not that they run an ad at every scene change is just that at every scene change there's the possibility they could run an answer.

So there's this little momentary glitch in the audio that's like, are we going to do an ad? No, not this time. But we're going to remind you that there there could have been an ad with this weird little audio glitch that happens in the scene change of us.

Like, it's disgusting. I hate IT so so much. Um yeah so Carrying on the the other thing I watched was also a netflix and and was ruined by the the second dark of the same.

We we're staying with my brother and sister in law. They subscribed to like I swear, almost every service OK almost every single one, but they get the ones what they are. Yes, so it's affordable. And I was watching I along at the place, which I didn't finish this the series, and I think I like that. It's hard to tell because the ads in dozy plus yd mid world worth the netflix .

is at least netflix does go at a scene change.

Those I guess they could have been that seen changes by lot times. I felt like somebody would IT was like at the climate x of a sentence and they would they finish the sentence or be a period?

I don't think this maybe a camera cut, but not a seeing change. Yes, exactly.

IT would cut to sub ninety second ad or a bunch ad and then cut back. And i'd be like, I felt I miss. I broke the man so badly that I felt like I had missed something like I would have to rewind IT deceive. There was something I thought like I was playing in the .

background still. And, you know, I would almost like, I don't know what IT is like, you know how on television, which is obviously had commercial breaks forever and ever there there's like they do a little bit you don't even notice IT because we've watching T V for so long. But they do a little fade out when they go to commercial and they do a little fade in when they come back from commercial.

It's really quick and we don't even notice IT you know um that much because IT, we're just so used to IT. But it's like but when that little bit of a fatal and fading is not there, the way is on the streaming services. It's like, is this abot cut? The audio does that weird glitch thing. There's no fading between them and IT is so daring it's thank .

you miss the first word, the first part of the first word. When you cut back and like they .

can put the little fate out and the little fade in, there's no question that on a technical level.

that's a possibility. So amazing, as we've talked about here before, but and I haven't had been using amazon prime that much for streaming, any sense. But I have wash a couple of movies on IT, but in the movie is they'll put like two or three minutes of beginning and then your movie starts.

And as long as you until you finish the movie, there's no more ads even if you press pause or whatever sometimes are during positive, like flash shopping up on a screen. But the minute you want to go back to IT, you can go back to this on a problem um which I I find preferable. Of course I would rather there are not be ads in the middle but they want you not to enjoy the experience on some level so that i'll pay for IT and it's well.

yeah it's they are following the the youtube plan there of just making a making a aggregation and making a horrible experience so that you pay the extra Price seems to be anyway yeah so um yes as as I started saying I did watch the the second arc, second group of three episodes of arcane league of legends season too um so yeah I mean my feeling at this point, i'm not going to try to predict exactly where it's gonna in the third dark, which is now I just didn't have time to watch that practicing a little bit of delayed gratitude there, delay gratification but because who why not spread IT out over three weeks as as they sort of intended there uah.

What i've noticed in this second season um that that each arc um doesn't really feel as self contained as the third season uh did and and that's obviously a intentional on their part. And this has been a bit more of a like theyve. They've set up even more information, more and more set up and set up intel like one pay off big, big payoff ff at the end of this second art where as there were multiple payoffs throughout season once. So it's just it's a different feeling to the pacing um that I think I preferred just on first blush the way they did things in season one. This is this is more of a dried out, uh, wait for IT even though they are packing so much formation.

But what really, really stood out to me because when they show fires on all cylinders, when they hit that combination of some stunning music, uh, the visuals, of course, are stunning throughout so that that's not sadly, but still there's there's moments that stand out above others um when they go into that allowing the artist to go to a completely different art style individuals when they hit with the flashback, when they hit you with the the sacrifice slater character is making. It's like when everything fires on all cylinders, I don't know there's Better than the show, maybe some things equally, but I don't know there's anything Better than arcane when they really fire on all cylinders. So I just felt like season one fired on all ceLinda more often and more consistently than season too has.

But they end this second arc with which they find on solutions. They they bring you down like it's on a brick and IT is phenomenal. But I just sort of felt like, oh that that maybe the first time this season that I felt they really hit that level of of high um and emotional impact where as season one did IT did in multiple times.

Um but what's really stood out to me is you know they are looking toward the future a little bit with what are they going to do with legal legends, this animated versions, this this a combination of riot games and fort um art studios uh and theyve said how they're gonna be. You know this is going to be the end of the sister story with this season too they're onna go to other stories, other places within the legal legends universe. And so IT seems like there's a little bit of I don't if it's set up, but maybe practice, maybe looking ahead because what I loved so much about season one was we met all these other characters.

Lots, lots of characters in the show are can, and everybody has their arc and everybody has their plot and everybody has their story. But in season one, all of IT, everybody else is. Story ultimately was in service of the story of the two sisters.

IT was IT gave you all the explanation of, well, why did they hit this road block? Why did this other character show up? It's all explained, but it's all through the lens of what's going on between the two sister characters.

And that's why the emotional throw line is so so strong in season one and everything is into IT and I feel so cohesive. And I think I don't know if there you know, i'm going to say the phrase like made the mistake of thinking that everybody loved all the other characters just as much as the sister and I didn't. I care about the story of the sisters, and I was interested in how well the story of all the other characters and all those other arts and plot lines merged so well with that emotional through line.

But now in season to its like, no, everybody is kind of doing their own separate things. They're all in the same world. So of course, they tied to go there a little bit, but it's not all in service of the story of the sisters.

And so for me, IT just doesn't IT doesn't quite all land as well as these. And one did. But like I say, when IT fires and also in there's IT is IT is utterly spectacular and ah i'm enjoying IT tremendously there.

So we'll see erie wondering.

kidding stupid. Netflix s so i've .

been uh mostly just watching with my wife wants to watch, which is kind of very between we're working their way through new new girl, which he is not seen and I have just fine.

It's a fun show like that show um what watching uh tracker which is terrible but options and we're watching the lincoln lawyer which okay is on the first I believe and not sure that's been O I can't quite figure out that show if I was netflix original or not because I crua lot um well they curse enough that I on T V gotta something like it's going be on keyboard, right? No what is this? And so far that's been fine to the plot is not so so convoluted that she's not following IT, but IT is convoluted that enough that I have to say that who this person is.

H so she's interested in it's and like you're talking about with. Arcane, there's one strong main character that is that drives everything and there's a lot of different things that are happy around him. But it's not necessarily there's not it's not like a bunch of different characters that you have to pay attention to.

You pay to the one guy and she's fine, which has been great for me. And then on the side, i've been watching a the great fish british back off because I love that show. I'll be onest with you.

The more I watched that show and I have watched every season that's available on netflix, the more I love IT because I feel like it's more of a true representation, not only a british culture, but also of people who can in general, because you, on the all american lake competition shows everybodies. I everybody is a monster, right? They're all monsters.

They're they're all outside hurt each other and the back step each other. I've seen people and somebody shows go like the low shared pension and take all of one ingredient even though they know they don't really need IT simply to keep IT away from everybody else to screw. I'm like that you you're .

not a good .

person and you shouldn't be here. You should be in jail somewhere for some crime that you committed that we don't know about yet. So most people, I think, are much more helpful and kind. And I experienced this throughout this whole hurricane thing um and the great bridge week of those people are this lake somebody starts crying, everybody stops baking and they go over and help them and like, oh no you can do IT and you know even in the same because that the final the final episode hasn't come out yeah at least I haven't washed IT IT wasn't out when the last time I was watching um netflix and so there was just a simple finals and the simple finals was one woman just broke down and like i'm iti i'm walking out is over there talking ping her like that's what it's supposed to be about. This is not everybody is terrible. You know not everybody is awful and we that happens to when I watched this for post pocalypse shows, which I like 嗯, i like post back of stuff just much as the next guy. But when you know that square or whatever ate that one wire that shut down power to all of new york for, like, full day, and people had to, like, walk across bridges to get home, I was, I didn't like, devolve into an art, people killing each other and bands of roving maniac trying to .

stand tane ously.

No, you people are like helping each other. And that's, I think that's more realistic.

And what I might not be a good GPS.

good theater or good T V IT.

Yeah.

nice. Or to watch these people like there's already enough drama in the situation. You don't need to employ or manufacturer more by encouraging your contestants or manipulating your contestants to be terrible or just go in interview people until you're like what you're associated come on down to our show.

Seems like I .

don't think he has to be that way. I think that trying to get party show to come out right is difficult in now. And sending a time limit on that is hard enough and stressful.

The problem.

Speaking of time limits, let's start to show.

Let's start to show. This is a vy potest .

answer your home there and navy questions, questions, answers. I'll have to do us, ask us by emAiling us a question. If you read that, come the website and comment.

No, think you can. No, maybe you can. No, any comments right now. No more comments. And tell me the comments on IT just IT turns in the mad max apocalyptic stuff so apparently the internet is where all the apocalypse is in case are wondering if you're looking for all of the terrible people they are in the comment section of every every video everyone. Um I remember when that when all of the news websites used to have comments was not good not he screed the comment like not the high level public .

discourse they were hoping with that comment selection.

Yeah, alright, go the website final show notes are older albums or are older, or episodes are current episode are flicker album. So you can follow along with the pictures of which we are are going to mention .

in this podcast if we have that .

this uh and all the links to everything that rob will be saying that you should buy. I know that wasn't .

buying advice this week that yeah.

it's just funny. IT comes considering what we get this, uh, you can find this on a facebook to come in pocket. Youtube compassion avia rants.

That's images will be in those videos. B, B, S, doing this thing one these days. I'll get a Better camera or this thing it's lights come along so using rossi's, mike. So that's great. Yeah, i'm like ARM, we ve got a .

comment about that up shortly. Uh.

we don't think we are listening to the week become a listen, the weeks to put the post some way when the way can do that's gonna you run that come click in the vice cup of coffee link, which will send the pay out donation to our people allow sites. This week we had bread. Who did that? Thank you very, very much. bread. Yeah.

bread. Thank you for continuing on with the paypal donations. Yes, that's slow down a little bit as we would expect where weeks afterward, now the outpouring, what was tremendous and Thomas super grave, i'm super grateful on times behalf so he was very, very appreciate. But nice to see IT still continuing my new phone.

My new phone is definite. Thanks, David and listeners that's for shark if that came from there. Um we also have our patron patron, the company in podcast on two, three, two patrons that every month paton takes some money from them and gives most of IT to us. So when I think one hundred and thirty two patient.

thank you. That is right. Yeah once again that is patron.

Our com slash E V ran podcast, if you'd like to sign up to make automatic monthly donation help out with the costs behind the scene of just keep in the podcast going. So hundred and thirty two patients has been holding strong. And thank you all very much for your financial support.

If you can support us financially, we understand, just do something, and we will mention you here. First of all, infinite gary sent a movie code for me to test out, make sure IT works that's right for him and I did. Thank you gary.

You as a service we provide here in this pocket. Um ryan has sent his N H T. Center speaker and it's on this way. I just got unification. U P, S. Is delivering something to say so what might be this ah and since since said reducer last week, uh hilson has small mirage on the eight sub to me as well and the office and even more energy speakers to them if I need them um I did not read that email. Okay, it's very busy.

I did.

I know I saw IT and I was like, I got to remember to .

read that like this. I put himself because these are speakers. He actually .

is using himself. Oh no, you you keep him OK no, you keep up. No, do not send me anything. Do not send me anything that you are actually using.

Believe me, it's fine. I.

if you need an excuse, Operate that is fine. I can understand that if you're like, if I get rid, these things I get to update, I want to do that anyway you because I will either use them myself or I will find a way to take them use, they be used. But I did say if you are .

initially planned to keep on using them, like I told him to put himself out over over that what because because you are OK. As for speakers, go now.

So right I am done through at the rickon roas and his a louvre yoga laptop and k bookshop speakers to me via ups. Maybe that's what's coming so hopefully they arrive safely. Um I have not received IT.

There are those two things. Yeah, I will let you know when I do a tony sent me the enormous def tech C S, ninety eighty center speaker. Turns out he has CS ninety eighty. Why that will get to that?

If we get to all the questions will get to that.

So in this was also on you. So he's offering IT for free to see if lee is okay with completely arranging this T V. stand.

Select to comedy. Let me think I never got you have speakers. They don't need subs or center speakers. So team to did not use the .

the cub e cut in his stand for the understory definitely wants to. So I have my doubts about that only, but still very generous of you.

yes. Thank you. Thank you for that. Plus, that gives me another way to make fun of lee, which I always personally appreciate for me.

That's the big benefit of this offering. In fact, everybody should offer the massive, massive center channels that you don't have to have. Um he's gona say no anyways.

So offers just innate him with emails of offering for large center speakers that you don't know um her from our spectrum labs has been dealing with a health matter that was thinking fully detected early and is treatable. But but despite that requiring his attention, he still found time time to reach out the Jason erik whom we've interviewed over connect noise control. And if tom needs some accused ve pennies to help with this new recording space that will need help out that be great. actually. Yes, I will need acoustic panels just full stop as most of mind out ruin.

But given that it's actual panels, not exactly a small item to store if your storing them, uh, they are waiting for your OK before those you sent to you.

So yeah, you could send you could send some stuff. And i'm actually a this week, in fact, i'm going to be transport because we got a orge in our heads. We own a certain ament of things and those things take up a certain them on the space.

So we rented the storage space. We rented one big enough, yes, to store most of the things that we wed. And then when we actually put everything in there, it's like all shop up in a corner and taking up up like a eighth, maybe a sixth of the storage spaces, like a ten by twenty stories. I've got planning from the store things I be brain stuff over there, just like that center channel is over there right now, I brother over there this weekend because I can't put that in the apartment. I don't only actually everything thing to put IT on yeah it's only furniture um but we will I will be storing stuff there that will eventually go into the.

okay the house so yeah I replied to her and cc ed, do you on that so so you might want to join .

that email chain and say for yourself. This is like the first day off i've had any significance and my son still hear or so who knows if I will be able to do anything to this try. And I heard about hope for the best for you personally. And I and and we are all sending your you best wishes and good tidings and healing thoughts.

Sounded like things are being managed well. He's not a not in a particularly dire situation, thankfully, because he's done the right thing getting regular checkup PS and and this was detected arly. That's the way to do obvious. So what i'm going to go into need details, make anything public, but we can all commiserate on that sort of thing. So definitely best wish being sent to you her and thank you so much for like he's been a tremendous supporter and friend this podcast for so .

long so you for so we also got some minutes of graduate for keeping the pocket going h through all the things from saucy, from Marcus says been watching or listen to our podcast for about six months now. He totally understood the pain that rob went through when he slept a twenty four inch in signa TV for his ant. He also got a twenty four rent in sydney, second hand from a family member.

All he was was a small TV for watching over the air broadcast with an antenna plus stream to the TV one. An experience that turned out to be the TV was so slow booting up. And then, just like rob mentioned, IT would always go to the home page first until he completely turned off its internet access.

He had to turn off every possible source, one by one, just to get the T, V, to just go to the internet input by default. And what the process IT was going through the menu, since it's so slow to respond IT. So he was always clicking buttons twice that he hadn't registered the command.

And once I was finally functional, speaker seemed to be non functional, unplugging a reflux ging, muting and unmoving. Nothing work. Turned out the TV was pairing itself to his son's bluette headphones.

And that's what the sound was going. But there was zero indication that was happening. I mean, who would the who thought that?

I don't know how even discovered IT like good on you walk past .

the heads phones as they were missing noise. That's how would they done anyway, this is for some rain to us and thanks us for our continued hard work, a long go when the head and got to fit dht cl q six TV for his home gym, great black friday Price that seems like the Better performance. T V when he had a quick look at the store.

Now it's viewing angles are anywhere near goes his bedroom, see one OLED or his family room seventy seven c two OLED. But the gym TV is on a swing ARM attach to the walls with me, aim wherever they want for a clear picture. So we thank us for that advice and for keeping the show going all these years.

Cora was happy to see me back and full swing on the pokey was also kind of impressed with the new road ultra, particularly that you can actually put IT into standby and have this front light go off. Who the thought Brandon Brandon's husband Andrew dave. We thought tom's voice has never sent IT Better than on last week's episode. So his ending new microphones we stick with using IT for now, on this is literally.

this is. So we for.

is jim, what's us to check out the horn movie heroic? He thought that was the best horror he seen a long time.

I do that point.

but I do. Yes, I dissent is still might go to hall in the last whatever, but it's only the directors cut, which I only recently kind of remembered that i've seen the theatrical releasing. And well, this ending socks that the directors cut ending is far superior.

And bread, another bread, no different. Do we have more than one bread? And Brandon and a brand dan.

Brad, who thinks us for keeping the pocket going, says, we are gentleman sense. So through the names again, thanks. Mark allong, go.

carl. Brand in brand. Bindo's husband, Andrew, boy, I can't. That's hard to say. Dave, jim, ebra, thank you for thank you enough.

Yes, I did. I'll try those names one more time myself. There are saucy mark along go.

Carl Brandon on branda's husband, Andrew, dave, jim and bread. Thank you all very much for you. Notes of gratitude and encouragement. They're very, very much appreciated. And a big, big thank you to everybody who continues to listen and sending in your questions.

So in the news, we adjust seems like more than just a rumor at this point. Mass mo currently sell the others of the former sound united brands then in morans pok def tech powers and Walkers boston acoustics in class class a held an investor conference and set a deadline of january twenty twenty five to make a final decision on what to do with their massive m consumer subdivision. No potential buyer has emerged. And with former C E O and founder joe kiani having been outside from his own company earlier this year, the new management aimed to raise the company's stock Price, which always ends well for everybody. Whenever you do whatever you can to raise a socks Price, nothing bad ever happens for consumers or employees in the winery.

Their Mandate, that's what management is, is supposed to do.

Well, point to some people, not corning, everybody. New managment aimed to raise the company stocked Price by assuring investors that they will not be spinning off any consumer audio businesses. They are done, the brand aims to enough be sold off.

That s entirely possible. That Operations will simply cease entirely. Yeah, that makes a lot of money by just stopping.

And if you are thinking that box international will step is a buyer to combine the former sununu brands with their pack or premium unio company brand such as onion clipsed. By that, almost certain ly isn't gona happen. Uh vox is itself dealing with large amounts of debt and falling revenue in its consumer of the business.

And we've always sold off the emo and energy brand and chinese companies earlier this year. They've also run n to licensing issues that have halted the sale of pioneered branded products. Need this to say there's a sense of panic through the homeless reforms at the moment and folks like Justin and wondering what's gonna en if all these will establish speaker consumer audio brand, simply cease Operations earlier next year, early next year? Sorry, i'm the world, obviously obvious .

the world this is this is a little bit .

concerning. Yeah yeah. I I don't disagree with you. um. Then I do not foresee a world where and maybe I can be wrong because I certainly have been before and things worse than this have happened. But these brands specifically have such name recognition and everything else that to have them completely go away and not be bought by somebody. Why don't even if they .

are sold of peace meal names will fully do. I mean, some of these names might appear to buy them sonus faber and macintosh last week. Um you know something like that like the names, i'm sure will.

But but what products will those names actually be slapped onto, right? Like if because, I mean, the thing is muscle right now, you know they already spend off sounded to be massive m consumer. Try protect their core business stock Price a little bit there.

But it's like they holy own the Operational business of all of those sound united brands. So it's like, yeah, they will they will unquestionably sell off the brand names for what everything can get for there. They'll sell off the uh, patch folio of none of that is useful to them in their core business.

We'll do those types of things, but it's like the the products themselves. You know the name dana morat could end up slapped on something that bears very little resembLance to the former engineering and internals of the denim morans product. You that's that's what the really concerning thing is.

And I mean, it's also just furthering what i've been talking about. If you know it's like it's a sound bar or it's a luxury product and we're losing all the lovely stuffin the middle. It's like anthem is still going to be around, you know e motiva is still going to be around.

They're going to be who can wait seven years for your motivation, actually put out the product that they promise you next week?

You know, I am we've been made waiting on mono Price and mono lift to have hd. My two point one support for we're getting close to five years now. I think you know it's it's like what what in the heck is really gonna happen here? A IT is IT is kind of concerning. It's like are we're going to end up where SONY is the only company producing navy receivers like who would have predicted that year ago? You know.

I mean. I could, if I were and know one of these higher and companies like anthem, not anthem, yeah who who makes the a turn off, turn off .

something yeah much more high.

If I would, somebody like turn off, I would we would be sitting in the border room right now thinking, if there is gonna be a power vacuum, somebody know somebody needs to fill IT. Can we fill IT? Is is there a way for us to do that? Because if there is, we should be planning for IT. Now we necessarily have to make anything but and we need to be able to say, say to consumers and everybody else um are our stock holders hey then and morons, they're all gone. Just oko in left, which is is on the decline .

though and you works international is looking to sell off all the audio companies that day pot.

So and we can make A A processor that is still expensive, still makes us money. But you and maybe um we won't seeing this entry level things in more, but maybe a two thousand and twenty five hundred dollar processor uh or uh uh receiver and we'll be the only game in town. I liked what J, B, L.

which is oh, by samsung, right? J, P, S, part of the harm group, harming group got up by samsung. It's like I liked what they did with their new avia receivers focusing on aesthetics and simplicity a bit more.

I I think that's A A good move. But like you know, the Price points, while they are not outlandish at all, they're not like highly competitive. You know that they weren't aiming to undercut anybody on Price.

They were trying to come in at, uh, a sustainable Price for their business wise and then have the advantage of, hey, our receiver just playing look Better than everybody else. So maybe i'll pay a little bit of a premium for that. Um so I really could IT be as samsung g that buy some of these brands could to be an apple that buy some of these.

They do have an interest in a in audio companies on that. But it's yeah it's it's a bit of of A A scary and weird time um the the ocean that really quite quickly uh these these very establish brands that we've been fans up for a long time. I have been recommended for a long time around here.

It's like, well, you know I guess hamar is gna win by default, right? It's like if then in moran's on cup y in year uh integra, if they all just year next year, it's like, well, I guess the amah still stand this. So like that could be IT right?

That would be IT right? Mah doesn't make about products I made. I mean that it's certainly all the drag lood I or whatever we're calling them and um uh auto c poundings out there will not be happy about that.

But there's something wrong with uh wipe arc and uh some of the other things that they've done. It's not like there's never gonna an aby receiver. Good again, I agree. I would much rather i've been on sicker and I love I always wanted to own and i've never really in around around the in one or or had the opportunity to um but I would love I would love for them to stick around some of these other brands where you I like okay, um they don't mean much to me personally, but they do mean a lot to other people walked, attack, you know, sticks, even B N W.

which bw has been out of out of all of them. I would expect that B N W M morans will that those names will continue on in some form of fashion. I think those two brands have the most likelihood of, if the only way to survivors to go towards the luxury end of the market, those are the brands that are most likely to do IT.

So being w in particular, you know there in studios there is going to to be somebody rich out there going to go.

You mean in himself might decide to turn around to buy a couple of brands ended up getting himself hosted from his own company and its way, but he had an interest in these brand. So I think there's there is no mousy. I don't think they're zero, but just the fact that there no clear buyer has emerged at this point.

I'm a little bit surprised at that, that nobody y's coming in. But but then again, they're just looking at the raw numbers. And o why would we do? IT is losing revenue every year.

Now I mean, that's the other thing we have to remember as consumers um even before terrify or anything else that's that's going to be coming in the future. The idea that I have been doing this podcast for as long as I have in a thousand dollars is still like that is a lot of money to pay for. If you receiver like that is that is the Price point that people go to that a lot.

It's much like bikes. People still come in and think of five hundred bikes is a lot of money. And that's the same Price that they paid thirty years ago over IT. Oh no, they paid four hundred dollars for a and they these thirty years .

sound bars getting up to fifty hundred and two thousand dollars is in some way going to be helpful to you receivers because .

then they don't seem so people don't they people to be the hundred dollars .

and that's what they're going for yeah.

they don't transfer that over. They don't say they help. This is a luxury within this category. Therefore, it's worth the fifteen hundred dollars. You dont then look at the A V receiver and go, oh, a thousand of receiver must be is a reasonable Price like it's just a receiver. I can get one of those one hundred box, which, of course, impossible at one time they did by buying IT on facebook or three, whatever.

As I love you too early on, if you've had your eye on a denn receiver, maybe you do snap IT up now because, yes, this this is a little bit more than just rumor and fear mongering. It's like like muscle. They are done that is clear, clear as can be. They talk to their investors directly like we are not gonna continue with these sound united brands and that is a done deal as far as moslim was considered. So change is coming home for .

by the time you're hearing this podcast is worked itself out in some way.

something is happy. I january, I definitely will have in some way or other .

comments from her listeners here. Greg, greg heard us talk about the book B A C C H stereo processing products from thea redick, a applied physics recently. Theoretic dumb word.

Very, very briefly. You take a measurements using a small microphone place inside, you're on ears. You can optionally use a camera for head tracking as well.

And the system provides speaker cross talk cancellation, a whole bunch of other processing to enhance sound stage imaging and sound effects. But the claims to do so without covering the sound sound. Greg is a big fan.

He wanted to point out that even though they always show off their three thirty thousand dollar box solutions at trade shows, you can get the very same processing with even more features, actually, for six to seven thousand knowledge. If you run IT on your own mac computer, their mac walk for mac packages still include the boral measured microphones and a USB interface for your max. So you get the full experience.

The software also allows you to virtualize your stereo speaker set up using headphones. So it's somewhat similar to a Smith realized in that way. Although IT isn't measuring a full surround sound or immersive audio speaker set up, the way a Smith realize or can box is just for two child ads, we wondered whether the rather cut chose to use electronics speakers in their demos for a specific reason.

Indeed, in grex experience, the narrow diversion of electrode speakers enhances across cancellation effects of the processing, but any speakers plus good room treatments work well. In his opinion, uh, it's probably easier to use electro static speakers at trade shows. Those in the acoustics can always be optimized.

He rees, that one oral recording sound, the most realistic one, play through the box system, but regulatory records can produce exciting effects in his experience. Overall, he thinks that anyone looking for something a bit new and dramatic should at least have a listen. And well, this isn't cheap.

He thinks the buck for mac option makes IT recently cost effective and a worthwhile upgrade. So there you go, seven thousand dollars. IT is is not .

trump change but at least IT doesn't thirty thousand dollars you might consider that. So thank you. Great for writing and it's nice to hear someone with first time experience of IT and yeah I mean this one is um I can absolutely see how uh IT would function. I can I can understand how is this definitely isn't a or I just imagine the difference I heard.

No, we've experienced by all recordings, we've experienced electronics speakers on their own can do how to having that greater difference between your left here and right here can definitely enhance imaging effects and create that sound that's somewhat like headphones, but keeps the sound outside of your head book and move sounds front to back more distinctly that type of thing. So adding this type of processing to wait cross dock cancellation yeah absolutely. Ah IT would be something that I think a lot of people would have fun if they heard IT for themselves.

Oh yeah, I would have fun. I would also have fun not paying six, seven thousand dollars for. But that's just mean I mean if if you little and people get to this point in this hobby where they're like i've got nothing else to buy, yeah i'm happy with everything I have and everything every time I make a try to get upgraded and up being marginal, if I think I .

would rather pay six to seven thousand dollars on this than sixty seven thousand dollars on cables.

that's for the alright, you'll never believe this benefit, gary, by themself a new pair speakers. Speaking of people who have six to seven thousand dollars to spend on something, this, this man should stop buying speakers and should buy this here are you owned a pera philharmonic audio bm r monitor speakers um in the rose would finish so decided to a para philharmonic bm R H tower speakers.

Also in rosewood they waste seven two pounds each and they were nine two pounds each in their double carton, a shipping boxes. We're not seeing the final set up in the for those who just snapped some picks with them close together so they easily fit within the frame. That's a big box student and that is a big speaker.

Some pretty big speakers, no question. But yeah, they're got the raw riband twitters there, mid range drivers above and below the raw room into witter and a pretty big home and work for there in A A low large front port on these tires.

Um and then he's got the B M R tower next to A B M R monitor, which is a bookshelf speaker but with your bookshops .

it's a stand but I wouldn't call that a bookshelf speaker but it's a stand about is the father .

of his final stack of equipment he uses in the drive them which includes an emotivity and then I that's for the he's .

also got a surround sound set up in the same room, but it's separate from the two channels. Yes, he does not to mention things just below IT.

right? As we know, gary has lots and lots of syria quip ment in hand. So he had fun experiment with different combinations, get just the right, right sound quality looking for. He went up with his loon luckman l five fifty A X two integrated powering them as mofo vender's turntable. Is that made of the finder guitar that we call that?

I mean, it's got that, got that color on the on the top plinth .

there with this para sound. Jc three junior fono per junior. Why version two was taken and mars S A fourteen s one C D player he had started with his sugen integrated APP projects turn table in paris on jc three plus ponto prem. But the final step has the percussive snap in crisp but not bright sound that he prefers.

I .

am, don't watch this video, gary.

Don't watch showing the pictures. You can see time exchange.

But veges of tom is being happy for my happy face. He's been impressed with the low frequency reproductions of the b mr. Towers and in world thinks they sound potent.

Well, I mean, they're big enough. They should have low end. I mean, port, the driver that yes.

I will. I will just lations. Gary, i'm glad you're happy with them. They are beautiful. They are beautiful and very.

the very nice looking speakers they are.

That is, that is definitely good. Speaker, designer.

thousand dollars. They probably cheaper. The speakers, by the way, in case you wondering. And then you could buy electro static speakers.

yes. And deputize told to that. Yes.

ryan, first question. Finally, after hour, our xi guys, this is all rops for, right, right? Really, really wants to get himself with seven, seven h OLED during this year's black friday cells. He's for certain, does not want to go any smaller screens, but he also needs to to his budget of two thousand dollars max.

With the current sale Prices, the last year's A, L, G, see three, and this years before both affordable to him, the before coming in at the lowest Price for seventy seven years would be worth paying more to get last year. Sea serious model, you are regret not breaking his budget to get this year. See four model for some reason.

How do you how do you 支付宝? Because that's really dark. Yeah because I isn't the c do I have A C three or c two?

You had A C two.

Don't ignore me. Just the, just the three or the, I don't know, everyone is jeep, whatever cheaper.

One I think is different at the moment to before they get that one. Yeah this is um I mean, I would say I get to before I would say a uh, like I guess if you put them side by side, if you put a measurement meter, it's like the the sea series consistently measures that a tiny bit brighter. Uh, but like every year, basically the like the b three was almost the same as A C two.

The before is almost the same as the c three. And even more so this year because this year the before series got the compliment of four H D M I two point one ports. Where is before the b series always had two H D M I two point one ports and then two H D M two point zero.

But this year to twenty twenty four, the before series, all four of the H D M I ports or H D M two point one supports up to four k one twenty uh, with V R R all of those things. The difference there was the the c four now goes up to one hundred and forty four hearts instead of one hundred and twenty uh and the the scuttle but is next year the the g five series is going to be going up to one hundred and sixty five hits. Well, I mean, none of that matches for your consoles.

It's only for your high and gaming PC. But if that isn't the deciding factor for you, then yeah, I would save the three hundred bucks. I'd stick with the b it's going to be an old ed.

It's going to be seventy seven inches is going to be gorgeous. And performance, why is really, really close to what the sea three was last year anyway. So this one I say.

save the money, you go. I agree, the net says that OLAY burn is slip.

I know, is still a problem of concern.

particularly with cable news and sports as a true just need to be worth about burning. So we've talked a number of times about the things that you can do to make sure that if you'd are one of those people who tends to watch hours and hours of T, V with a ticker or a .

tic icon or kyran at the bottom, and that is all you watch, and you watched that every day.

all day, all day, there are things you can do the minimize burning from happening. But if you're not one of those people, you do not have to worry. Yeah.

I know. I mean, I guess a bit of the you know cover our own behind is that like IT is possible to create burnt in on at all the T V. Like inherently that is a possible thing. We can't assure you to the level love, no matter what you do, no matter how you use this TV, you're never ever going to have the possibility of burning like that would be a bridge too far for me to say and then i'm going to get blamed if somebody y's like, well, does what I did and I didn't put on tvs like, well, okay, yes, technically as possible. But it's really, really rare these days if you are not doing the exact same channel with the exact same logo and the exact same kyan for all day.

Every day, if you take the minor precaution of going to that OLED pixel break setting and turning IT down to forty five or lower, then the chances of you getting burn, if you vary your content a little bit, if you put your TV and to stand by at night and do not unplug IT from the wall, and therefore let IT run its little pixel compensations like all in the background while it's stand by, you do those very basic things and burning is almost never going to be a problem. Yeah, that's that's where we are now. It's pretty mature or technology at this point. And burning on olets is is very, very, very rare. We can't say it's impossible but is very.

very, very rare. So my wife is terrified of the front break of her bike OK because he knows beyond a shadow of a doubt that if you hit the front break too hard you're going to go over the the hours um I can tell you definitively that that's chant that that well that can happen right? IT takes extraordinary situations to make IT so like you can it's not like you tap IT a little too hard and you go over the hand of right.

It's like the bike doesn't immediately up and it's you have to be going very fast. You have to stop very hard slope. So there's what's no even in that situation would like you're going very fast or going downhill and you use nothing but your front break. You can just sit back on your bike, basically drop your buck over the back of your seat so that you're further back on the bike and hit that break and you will not go over. I mean, you could still make that happen, but you really couldn't have to try, right?

Yeah that is burnin. Yeah you like we can't guarantee that IT, that IT will never happen because there IT is possible, yes, but likely no, not anymore. The L G is done a really, really good job on the they are protecting them.

I agree. So you familiar with the practice immediate into the settings and taking the TV out of its beautiful pitch motion, putting into something like cinema more instead, specifically with L. G. Oh, is there a particular Fisher mode that he ought to select as the best out of the box option? Now, let's suck about two things.

First, TV just always come, a vivid motor, bright motor, whatever IT was you know we will call a torch mode back in the day because they want their tvs to look good on the showroom floor and the you the showroom guys going to throw IT up there touch nothing that's like display mode right? Um but things have changed recently in that there are power requirements and power start. And to meet those energy star ratings, again, the energy star people aren't going around change in pit motes, uh, for the most part when they do their their their measures. So more often than not know, many T V S do no longer come on these torch modes, because there those of the high energy modes, and in some places like california.

TV can even be sold. L, G. Are coming in their aps. The automatic power saving boat. Now.

by you actually have to turn the presence up. So so the first, the this idea that torch mois still a thing, IT can be a thing. But generally speaking, I don't think is as much of a problem as IT used to be. That being said, uh, routines is the place to go. R, T, I, G.

And they got settle for a before, if that's what .

you get and you can follow those and that will get you pretty close and then can require you to to in my case, when I was sitting everything up on my c two back before pulling killed IT because he hates me. Um IT you. How I interacted with my apple T, V, K, how I interacted with my receiver, was a little bit quirky.

And I ended up time to change some settings based on things that I thought maybe I should be in and maybe IT shouldn't. And you have to go into multiple menu's and all these other things. So it's not as easy sometimes as going just follow your ratings and then you're done. Sometimes you have to do a little bit more than that, but that gets you like seventy five to ninety percent of the way they are just .

by following the ninety. yes. So I mean, the thing is there are the two separate sides of the one.

You will, if you want accuracy, if you want accuracy to the original signal, and if you don't want to kinder hamstring the capabilities of your OLED, then turning off the energy saving features, which is not just a picture boat setting and they're in a couple of different places. So are can guide you there um in how to turn off the energy saving. They do describe that.

And then, yeah, I mean, if you want this single sort of seat, them forget IT picture mode. They have the filmmaker mode that that is actually like really, really darn close to accurate bux. Although even that one, they said that old pixel brightness setting a little bit too high, kindly surprisingly for filmmaking.

But but even that when you can bring down that OLAY pixel brightness setting like a forty five or lower and you're really, really safe, that's for a standard dynamic range. For high dynamic ranges is going to be locked at one hundred and that's fine ah no problem. Standard data ic grant, you can lower that a bit.

Um you'll see the articles that they usually use the I S F dark mode for the not surprisingly dark room for the absolute most accurate picture. And then for a bright room setting, we'll use the I S F bright mode. So all three of those are good choices.

If you do want to have a differentiator, we do a dark mode and a bright mode. They've got those I S F dark and bright named modes right there. They are great play settings to use as well. But yes, the film ker mode is kind of the singular that that and forget IT if you just wanted do that, but turn the saving off. That's a separate setting in a different part of the menu sauce.

We previously discuss the whole bunch of questions as sauce have not have have his parents were sitting outdoor speakers in the whole, and they hold new media room with a bar at the back. They've always decided to go with the ninety ch uh T C L since one hundred and fifteen inches. Still a bit too expensive at this time for what they're looking to pay.

And we'll be using R B H as new as impression series speakers, the on wall fifty five I W R for the five main speakers. So I also ordered two pairs, the sun mag eight r speakers with their return t rear enclosures from best bay for the overhead channels. And he will be giving them his pair of rithmetic s sub first that he's replacing in his own set up with the pair of D I Y subs that he's building himself.

So with the gear decided that brings them onto have the topic of acoustic treatment, they had a totally dedicated home theatre in their previous house with the projection set up in everything. But in the new house, they want to to be a multi purpose from that isn't fully backed down and doesn't look like a dedicated theatre. So putting acoustic panels in all of the ideal locations isn't happen, but we've said in the past is still worth putting a cusic panels just about anywhere they can fit right. And they might not uh, treat specific first reflection bill, still help to reduce overall the cake times and slap .

bacco question mark up, absolutely for sure.

So one thing they would be OK with this basically cover the covering the entire front wall they were be planning to mount the large T, V, and then have the arbs on all speakers mounted around IT. As long as the coupons are not visually distracting, their fine with the front wall be intreated. So says, I was thinking he might get several custom x DIY two by four by four inch deep panel kits.

And one additional idea that one additional a that came to mind was making a rict angular hole in the installation that would perfectly fit when the arba in animal speakers within them. That way that he could, there could be panels ruling the TV and wouldn't have to worry about the panels getting in the way of the speaker placement. And the speakers could be within the panels ince the panel about three point seven inches in total thickness. IT would be easy if the drivers right behind the fabric surface with the insulation surrounding each of the front three speakers. So first and foremost, is there any reason this is like exactly like the that what happened to this podcast where last year, last week, we had panels, speakers within panels and this week we have speakers within panels.

It's like that this weird um is there .

any reason that completely avoid this idea with having the on all speakers basically embedded in the insulation actually helped with the speaker boundary inference uh response. okay. So a couple of things my parents had were constantly talking to me before their house got destroyed about accused ve panels in their room because they couldn't understand the TV they were do.

They had to go out until their approach to do like their zoom calls, because they couldn't like the room was so echoes like this room is in here that IT was hard for them to understand what was being sad. And um other people are having a hard time understanding them. So they would go out on their port which wasn't which was screened in just so that there wasn't so many reflections around.

My mom was constantly talking to me about that and what what can we do? And I was giving her all kind of stuff. The reality is, yes, any amount of panels will help, number one. But in a situation like this where you're really in a multiuse space, the key to me is one of two things, accent colors or the actual color of the wall.

Just find the color of the wall that you're going to do or find the fabric and the match, find the fabric you like that that's going to go on the panel and the team match. Um so with that front wall there, you depending on what cystic ally, what your parents are into, you just hate what color we're going to paint this room. Let just get panel that match. We're just I was thinking .

if they're okay with basically the whole front wall being covered in in panels like like just covered the whole front walk, like you were going to do D I Y anyway. So why not just covered the whole? I do an .

actual swar basically.

And they put annals behind all all. I mean, make yourself what is essentially A T H X puffle walk, because that's what you're talking about. IT is fine to have your in walls speakers surrounded by installation.

T A J X recommends that you do exactly that and create T H X buff wall where you have the same thickness of speaker and installation. So the the whole thing is a flushed surface on the front. And yes, there is insulation with cut out right around the on wall speakers that are all mounted on the front wall ah that entire thing is a bad for wall.

So I mean that's that's what I would import in this case if it's all gonna D I Y anyway. Then just covered the whole front wall with installation, three regular, three and a half inch insulation of the whole thing. Put the on while speakers, you make some rectangular cutts just where you need them, and then cover the entire front wall with the fabric and and all looks completely seamless and move and awesome. You don't see anything back there and you've got accused tic treatments .

completely hit in that way yeah and then you know you also don't know that point. You want to worry so much about where the speakers are placed, individual .

panel with frames to lead, the more treatment on that.

And then for the rest of the the room it's just panels of yeah I know if you're going to da why this thing you don't have to make two foot by four foot panels. You can make them any size.

You no one's .

going to come in A O H that panels, only one. That's a two by one, two by one foot. What is that treating? Who cares?

Show up on my house to get them as more possible to do one h panels that kind of a bit of a waste.

Uh, in second, he asked which of acoustic max three fabric options, the D M D executive or swade would be acoustically transparent red enough to have the front three speakers behind IT. He did consider the option of covering the panels and speaker grow clock instead but that would that be visually open enough to hide the installation speakers behind IT basically was a Better favor choice here again, this coming on the color to a certain extent and how much um how accuse vely transparent the fabric itself is but that being said that being said, even even if it's like one is slightly less acoustic transparent.

the swade would not be the choice here. The swee definitely does attenuate high frequencies like quite substantive to the point that you have almost when you use the sway almost done a little bit of a combo panel thing where it's like still obs always the base very well. But IT reflects the the trouble mostly IT doesn't really let that through IT.

Also the sweater is definitely not the choice here. Um the executive is like by the measurements really close to the guilford of main fabrics, which would be the going to regular fabric store if you ve got the girlfriend of main fabric. Um that's the one that's like pretty much completely acoustic, transparent.

And the executive matches that really closely. So if you are doing the prebend le packages from acoustic, then I would opt for the executive fabric here that is the most acoustically transparent. But again, if you just forget about the actual panels with frames and everything just covered, the whole front pull mait a bath all. I would just go to epic store, get some guillory d of main of the cover, the color that you like and you're going to OK or whatever.

Is the crucial ally transparent enough for you because that's what that comes down to. Um you know the cost of this can make in getting the right color um as far as speaker roll cloth um being transparent enough or being OK enough yeah .

I mean there .

is no problems with that. You not can have any light sources behind the fabric. So that's the thing you have to worry about more than anything um you're not going to see through IT know it's going to IT that the blacknesses of or whatever color you get unless you got like like super White and then stretched IT really right.

I mean, I guess you could again, you anybody can make anything happen. They really want to have happened. But generally speaking, I mean, I had black fabric with White batting behind that because I was worried about installation coming through and bola blah back in the day when we were still worried about that.

And then I built my panels with that. So I had White cotton, I had the black speaker cloth, the White cot and batting, and then the installation. And you're like, okay, well, if you're going to see anything, you're going to see that White reflecting never you never saw, never knew I was there.

And then I built some. Without that, there was no difference, right? visually. So IT is.

And to me, IT IT would be very unusual for you to be able to see through. These are the girl, Tyler. Tyler has a ground new poem.

At least is pretty as well of this. He's got as you receiver, plug into one out there and then somewhere first plug into a out across the room. And there really is that much option.

Have them both plug into the same wall out with as soon as he connects the subway for, uh, with the subway for cable, he gets a low, steady harm. So he was planning to get them in the p two by foreign tuna support for step anyways. And at one time mini S, P offered a baLances version of the many D S P two by four, but they don't any more than two four H D ah.

Only IT comes with in an R C, A unbaLanced version. But for a little over double the Price. They sell the many D S P flex. And that can be ordered in a baLanced version. Double the Price of things.

Are you to more than double the Price? Yeah, five hundred box fish for that flex.

Uh, so this fixes helper sub for hum. And would a baLance connection, uh, reject that noise? Because if IT will, the higher Price of will be worth that to him.

Yeah, get the home is awful to begin with, you getting ready. The hum is important. But just because you have an x ellar cable which is grounded, everything else was grounded. The grounding problem is is in the walls and in your electrical wiring. The the grounding problem is not necessarily in your aby receiver or .

your sub yeah the noise rejection that baLanced cables provide is for radio frequency gets picked up by the cable itself. So like in a stadium setting where there's noodles and noodles of radio frequency and electro magnetic interference and you're dealing with cables that are very, very long ah then an unbaLanced cable even wish shielding. You know some of that noise will get picked up that the cable is an anti na.

So you're either shielding IT or having a baLance connection that um you know ends up rejecting that noise because inverts one half of the signal in the other end and any noise that was picked up the the inverted signal councils of the original signal that all that work but a ground loop alm is a completely different kettle of fish that's not some kind of radio frequency or electric made the interference that's being picked up by the cable acting as an that is a difference in ground potential between two things that are connected electronically and a baLance cable will still connect them electronically and still produce that hum. So this isn't the solution. What I would say here, I mean, the number one solution ultimately is call an electrician and have the grounding of your house, you know, completely properly redone.

But obviously, that could be a bit more time and money intensive than you're looking to do, right? This second, the easy solution here is get a wireless sub for kit. A wireless sub for kit will eliminate that crown loop mb, because there is no more electrical connection between the sub offer that's plugged into one outlet and the A Y receive or that's lugged into a different outlet with ground between those two electrical wall outlets.

Wireless sub for kid can be very affordable. Just make sure the the receiving end that's plugging into your sub bumper is logged into the same outlet as the sub often, and the transmitted that plugged into the heavy receiver is plugged into the same outlet as the receiver. But of course, those things are physically very close to each other, and that should be easy to do, and that's the way to solve this problem.

No, where are the some of cats are. Yes, it's just it's nice that we have options like that now wasn't that long ago with the solution was I don't know that I am put them both at the front of room. Uh, carl carl understands that tomb robber favouring very large flat screen displays when ever possible these days, is calling his wife simply prefer the look of a projected image when watching movies.

Hey, believe me, I literally do not care what kind of TV you have. And I am happy that if like IT is no skin ough, i'm not offended. I don't think that you're making a bad decision by going .

with a projector that what you like, that's what you like.

You get to remember for years and years and years, we recommend that I want to the bigger TV. They make us fifty six inches, right? And I sit twenty feet away. What can I do? Unlike you can buy a projector.

You know, if you're sitting twenty feet away today, i'm still gonna you to get a protective because there's no affordable flat screens for twenty feet to away.

That's right anyways. Plus they always go for a front of the row of the theater field of view when ever possible. That's a lie. No one .

does that. I never would they honestly do.

The front row of a theater is per gator. This might actually be held and actually might be all they .

live like that, but that's what they like. All you see is like people's colors, I know, because their faces are too hi anyways.

flat panels simply can I, pete, compete with that sort of image size, sort of screen sized desire? So that's fine, right? Just different personal preference. And Collins wife happened to both like the same thing, thankfully, and it's just different from what the AV rent guys like.

But if they were affordable, would we really take a modulate microlight display over a projection set up specifically for a dedicated home there? Coral actually has a lot of experience looking at giant video walls. They're in use a at university campus and U S.

Air force space where he works at the university campus, U. S. Air, first place where works. They do look great and productions will not be as good uh, for those purposes and installations. But to him, those giant direct view screens just don't feel cinematic. They give him the sense that he's just looking at enormous TV because that's exactly what they are. But to him, there's a different .

kind of elegance .

to a move. Don't look at the picture. Don't look at the U. S. Video, uh, allegations to a movie theater projection experience and he is not looking forward to commercial cinemas being converted to samsung onex microalloying splaying.

He wants to stick with the look up projectors and then there's the audio side of things too. There's no plane speakers in the ideal locations behind the screen. When is a huge flap penel? We discussed in the past why there are still lots of reasons why projective res won't h go away entirely anytime soon.

But if they could go away, would we toon rod actually want them to? In other words, are we recommending to people that they get a, uh, big flat pants instead of rejectors when the screen size and Price makes sense because we are eager to use atv instead of projector, are we simply resign ourselves to effect that? That's the way things are trending.

So we might as well go with the flow as IT worm. Man, I in't care, but no flow care about that. I prefer the .

direct view display that my answer there, I straight up, prefer IT. I'm i'm eager for the samsung onic's micrite. This plays to come to the cinemas i'm all for, but the modulate displays covering entire walls and doing things that way that that me that's the way to go.

So and I use car analogies a lot around here and i'm gonna IT again. So just good good I guess buckle in. Um I have now a hybrid.

I did not purchase IT because I wanted IT or that I was looking for my wife test for that and said that I want IT and I was like, okay, I guess this this is before the hurricane definitely wouldn't buy IT if I had know the hurry king was going to come to stroke my house today that much. It's used. It's not new, but not buying anything new.

And IT has so many freaking belsen vessels that are it's a noxious IT is up, not that car. What is that? Me almost as much as my wife does one were driving like it's constantly telling me what to do.

It's like you're changing lanes. I know i'm changing lanes. We you put your blinker on, okay, it's got paddle shifter, but they don't actually shift.

No because there's the shift with there's no stick to shift IT with, right? It's just buttons, your presence, driver, rewind, back, reverse or whatever, right? You press these buttons and then let the parking break is .

a button and .

some of that you lose some of that that connected feel you get from driving as per.

如果 probably isn't physically connected.

anything probably isn't. Be once with the job. It's it's very annoyed. But you as somebody who took his drivers test with a manual, I was in a manual.

This is you even back then, people like driving automatic for your drivers test because that we you want to worry about stolen IT um and I did stall IT during my drivers test one time and I still passed california. You know whatever there's wild west out there. But um you know I love driving manuals as well and it's a completely different experience in driving an automatic.

But at some point, you're just sitting in the car going from one place to another. You're not shifting, you're not present buttons, your cars not reminding you that it's stupid and that you don't know what you're doing. You're just driving and that's what this is you do you like.

I prefer projectors because of the cinematic field of blob. A you do you say you do, and I believe that you believe that you do. But I think that if you really SAT, if you works, there's here's one that's a projector in the same room as a projector, and then there's a direct view TV.

There are exactly the same size. And after a few minutes of watching whatever you are watching, you would prefer the one that had the Better pretium, that was brighter and had Better contrast and everything else. That's what you would prefer because that cinnamon feels just nonsense.

That's just some sort of some sort of a hold over of I don't want I like what I like, and I don't want to have to like something new. Because then if I would like something new, I have to learn certain, learn more about that, but I just have to change. And people at some point just going, i'm done.

Changi don't want to do that anymore and I understand that. And i'm not saying you're a bad person in any way, shape, perform. I'm saying is that we have to fight that urge.

We have to be open to the new technology because my new car is ridiculously nice. It's too nice for me. Like, I don't like IT offends me.

How nicer is? Like, I will. My kid, I have two keys and they are numbered.

And if the kid, my kid takes us key, he's taller than me, just the seat for him as he opens the door and and if I open the door with my key is had just the seats for me and that is super nice like, you know, nothing is more noxious than me sitting in the car and being reminded how much taller my kids are than me, than having to go for what feels like ever for my feet to start touching the fricking peddles. IT is nice. IT is nice.

And as nice as as wonderful as projectors are, as much a experiences you've had with them, as love, much of love as you have felt towards them. In the end, the Better pitcher is Better, and that's the end of IT. And that is what makes something systematic.

So I go out to the actual movie, there's these days, I am I am almost always opting for the U S. IMAX in my area. That's when i'm going to is a laser IMAX.

And when I look at that display like IT doesn't really look like projection anymore IT. It's a 4k laser driven D, L, P. Is the base processing there.

And I look at that nice, big, very, very big, I A cream. And I go, you know what that looks like? Looks like kind of a low and LCD TV.

Because the black level is still not key, inky black, and the contrast is a boat. I mean, it's D, L, P. So and it's not six chip D, L, P.

It's not global cinema. So the contrast is about equal to a mid grade L C D as far as just, you know, anti contrast goes. But the black lover is not as good as A L C D T V these days.

Like, that's what IMAX looks like. That looks like a very, very, very big mid grade L C D T V. So like, you know what if I could get a very, very, very big, all at great TV at the movie here or at home?

That's what I want. I'd rather have that. I just too often we like to hear people talk about manuals are an older technology has been superior simply because it's older and it's more real of kids these days and sentences that always start with kids these days. No, I refuse to be that guy, and you can be that guy. I know there are lot of cases where.

like a hundred fifty inches, one hundred sixty inches would be the right screen choice for me, even for me. Like I don't like to sit at the front where that there to like you and your wife to, but there are lots of cases where be like hundred fifty inches, that's the rise. And you can get today a one hundred fifty inch modular micro L D samsung the wall.

Or you could quite easily get a projector that very nicely fills s one hundred fifty just in a fully dark room. The micro I D doesn't have to be in a fully dark room. But the Price delta between those two things is huge, right? So I will be telling people, when one hundred fifty inches, hundred sixty inches is the right screen size choice for you, get a projector, unless, unless one hundred .

fifty thousand, two hundred dollars, I can not think I would never justify that. I would never justify that. So i'm definitely going .

to tell people to still get projectors where that that is clearly the right choice, uh, financially or four of some other reasons. There's other times when IT is still the right choice. But yeah, I prefer the flat panel display for sure. If I can do IT affordably, if I could get the microalloying module display hundred fifty inches for the same Prices the projection set up, because I get the microphone hundred percent of the time.

you may just, okay. I I don't want to get bog down on this because I do have a lot of feelings about IT is ours. As far as resistance to change by a tablet is going.

So this is from Brenda's husband, Andrew. So I my question is who are we talking to 研究 的? Or Brenda is brender .

the is so i'm going to go ahead, say.

no, Andrew kay, well, I respect you, Andrew, for recognizing that that your wife is a part of this conversation. Need them she's not specifically asking. So first of Brenda and Andrew have an eight french uh L G C when OLED in the family room and IT looks great, but when bruna wants to watch the golden nights playing last vegas.

build nights hockey and hl.

is that hockey? okay? I had to ask because I don't know. They're far enough away from the eighty three and screen that simply isn't immersive enough. So SHE takes over the dedicate home theater and watches on their hundred fifty and projection screen. No complaints from him yeah I mean carl 的 what to tell you that right?

Ah the home .

theater used to be a multi purpose room so they went with a sixteen by nine ambient light rejecting in the grey three the projection screen from the lead screens since they converted that room of being strict ly home theer, though they've since converted that, so now they have total like control. They didn't change the screen.

And he knows we've said that how we prefer to use a White projection screen as under there's no p light, but they can honestly they honestly have no complaints at all, will continue to use their senate grave through the material in the screen, literally cannot be in larger. So no intention to change that part of the set up. I like how people have to just feel like they have to justify why they're not going to do with things like I don't care.

You can put a black screen up there for what I care so what you do as long you are happy and does not make any difference to me um the way I describe IT to people sometimes is um like h this looks this screen looks great to me. I think that looks great. I know you're recommending a different screen, but this one I think looks great.

And like, well, if you had walked around barefoot all your life and then someone gave you a pair of shoes and you start to wear me go like, this is great. I am i'm not stepping on rock anymore. There's no more pop on my feet.

I'm not getting, you know, rashes from things or no stickers going into my my toes. You would think IT was great. And then if you win out and got a different parachutes based on somebody saying, hey, you know what, those shoes aren't that great. You should get these other shoes and you have got the other shoes, you would look at that first parachute. And o why were you so terrible to me?

Not that this is a terrible versus no comparison. Now this is no different levels of good.

right? And so you would look at those shoes and go, well, you did help a lot. I just didn't know that you could have been Better.

And now that I know that you could have been Better, I am now looking at you going, wow, why did I put up with that now that I know the difference? And that's where I would land on this conversation here? Like, you're like, I love my single gray stream and not not onna change IT. I don't care. Keep walking around in your bad shoes that don't fit you.

That's great as I don't care.

You know what I i'm not saying as a bad screen. I'm saying it's the wrong screen for this new application vironment, right? So the current project or is a SONY vw to twenty five years that they has since twenty nineteen? Well, that's crap.

You should throw them. I am sorry, suit 不会 either i've had too much coffee or not enough。 And so I have been liquid here.

It's surprising lap has replaced once in that time. So you're not using IT that much really because that's only one. Lamport placement seems not that much. That's great. The projector has been professionally calibrated and it's getting to be about time for another land replacement.

So think, think maybe we'll just upgrade the entire projector instead naturally, considering jc the max budget is six Green these days, that basically limits them to the entry level four k models from either J, B, C or so. I injuries a gamer, maybe not a hard core and definite, not a professional gamer or anything, but he would appreciate having full l two point eight five two point once features and fork one twenty support. He's kind of curious about getting a laser projector.

I'm curious about how you're going to change that laser when that goes bad. But what I see, but he doesn't der a bit about not being able to replace the light source, me too. So all of those factors had let him to the lamp base.

J B, C, M, P five, which has now been discontinued to make way for the, for the laser based in the and said for rob a three canadian roque k five hundred and N P five is still available though and for a well in or six grand and has four four k one twenty and eight two point once important about and the five hundred top four sixty ah any of the other models that can do for once twenty or well over as budgets so is that IT? Is the M P five the way to go or should I care more about getting lasers and Lance at this point? Will the M P five be OK or two dam on their hundred fifty edge? One point you gain silver looking screen material. Um I mean we have long recommended the M P because of the whole lap.

We mentioned the big for H D R for for sdr for standard dynamic range, no problem using an M P five hundred, one hundred fifty screen total on top of even one point two game.

You put the Green screen on top of IT know the H E R is really going to have it's going to struck HDR is.

I mean, essentially HDR is not going to look any different from sdr that that's the upshot at that screen size with an M P five HDR simply is not gonna any blighter than standard dynamic range. Ah that they're there are gone to appear very, very equal ah so that's that's the thing to keep in mind here. I like that mp five a lot. Given the Price point that you're going for, given the performance you're looking for, there aren't a ton of other options as IT is as as simple as that.

I mean, you can get that M P five, yes. And then a smaller screen that's White and sit .

closer to IT yeah right that .

that you actually all the way around you still spend lessons in six thousands hours almost? Yes, I know that's not the answer you want. And maybe maybe that you maybe you don't care maybe you don't care about because you haven't cared about HDR.

You haven't had H D. R. And here you're not still going have HDR, but now you're going to have the difference was you have a projector that could not do that.

Right now.

You will have a projector that could do IT in theory if you didn't hamstring IT. And it's not your fault. I mean, I mean this, but it's not really your faut.

Uh, budgets is what budgets are you? You have to stay within the budget. I appreciate that .

is not like that some drinking budget .

I might be IT might be like like I have seven speakers. Which receiver should I buy? It's this one in IT cost four thousand dollars. That might be IT.

That might be what ends up happening, we don't know, but this is where we are in project land because as others have mentioned, tvs are getting very big. And as long as they're in, most Greens do not need to be bigger than ninety identities. So most of them don't need to be bigger. Most people think they don't need to be bigger than to five.

but that's changing. They're getting larger. But yeah, I mean, so the alternative to here that would fit your Price point and still do all the things that you want to do for k one to two and support and all that would be actually going to absence s twelve thousand, right? Because you can't within the budget, you can't really go to the higher tear models.

And these days, like in the J V. C and the SONY current lineups, you gotta get all the way up to their fifteen thousand dollar project tors to get back the four k one twenty support. It's kind of ridiculous.

So even if you found those on sale or use something, they're not going to be under six grand. Um you could look for something like uh N N Z seven right which has also been discontinued, making way for the N Z seven hundred. The N Z seven was basically just the laser version of the N P five.

They were very, very similar. The N Z seven in the np five, just the N Z seven years laser, and the five use lamps. But the N Z seven is not dramatically brighter than the M P5。 IT really is just the laser version of that same projector.

And IT was more expensive like it's it's still retAiling at nine thousand dollars. But because it's been discontinued, you might be able to find an N Z seven for a for under six thousand, but it's not gonna dramatically brighter than the M P5。 So the ls twelve thousand is brighter than the mp five.

The ls twelve thousand does use lasers as as its elimination, but the Price point is lower. IT is not A A native 4k resolution panel。 It's a ten D P panel, but they are walbrook four times per frame and they can do that fast enough to still do fork one twenty uh, in that s twelve thousand.

So that would be the other one to. But the at list one thousand doesn't have jvc lovely frame by frame dynamic toe mapping. So if you are watching HDR, you don't have that frame by frame dynamic ome wiping processing on the absence. So there's trade offs, there's tradeoffs, whichever right you go here.

So in a way, I kind of you know I definitely agree with ths uh, suggestion that is like, well, you know, if you at this is all predicated on you actually Carrying this much about HDR looking significantly different from sdr because if you're okay, we're just having a dramatically deeper black level and higher contrast all of the time, which is gonna the case going to the J V C N P five. Uh, but it's just H D R doesn't look dramatically different from sdr sticking to that screen size like your a OK there. S T R brightness, no problem for the M P five, one hundred fifty inches. Uh, but if you really, really care about each other, then maybe you do change the screen and you go to a small screen seizes and seek closer to IT to have the same field of view yeah but those are basically your options.

Yeah it's there is not by me out now what else to say other than that, I think that's pretty much IT .

and the least twelve thousand like IT is brighter um is in depending on how you set things up with how close IT is in the zoo m range and all that IT can be almost forty percent writer than the M P five. So it's it's a visible difference for sure.

Um moon in australia, most son appreciated our discussion about his seeding in the suspiciously inexpensive black word liners he found for self on the amazon. Australia just says an F Y, I hope none. Only the change from a current off White coloured seats to black, but also to expand four seats in the front, rose and says, sometimes have as many as eight people in the room.

I'll check out the valencia, seeing that we linked to last week and find out with his wife things. He was also interested by A R take on the varian velarium vision master projectors, whatever things called and that are being sold by kickstart. I was just going to make a joke to the last guy about about going the kick start to find the projector.

And I forgot to make IT. I had my mind and talked. You were talking and I forgot IT. He ultimately agreed with our take that even the max version is not the right choice for for a dream OS Adriano's sorry rios adonis set up since that lacks the zoom range and lens memory features you will require just in terms that listed spects and hype around them.

He sees some of the youtube videos, uh, about them, but also read a couple of right debs by repeatable projector reviews, such as projector reviews and what seems like a full hands on review of the pro two model by projector junkies. The hands on projector junkies review in particular, seem to confirm that even after collaboration for accurate colors, IT really could output close to his claim three thousand nc lemans. They measured two thousand and seven and ninety nc lum's with their meter directly facing the lens of the projector.

And IT could handle exceed the claim three thousand limits if you forgo color accuracy. sure. You know, know, nobody really cares about color accuracy with projector.

why? Why would you care that people look like people and not red blobs on the screen? The full on, full off contrast are also lined up with the claim, fifteen thousand ones back. And then with the native dop contrast coming in about four thousand, the one full long fall off with, and about sixteen hundred to one anc contrast. But the reviewer had a lot of praise for the enhanced black level processing, which only works with the laser powers set to one hundred percent.

But from their analysis, the on screen content and dim soldier, whether IT can IT can in or to deepen the black level while just in the game of free by frame, or to pressure proper share detail in overall a pit average pitcher level with a media attack patton's seven hundred system on ship on board IT has similar image processing power to hire in flat panel TV, so it's able to provide this level frame by frame justman and IT works for A G R two with frame by frame dynamic toe mapping. So in the end of review thought, I delivered on matched quote, unmatched dark scene performance for ideal p projector, while reveling has ulterior threw projector for the lights on performance. There's no n quote thereby imagines where the input goes.

They did point out how the enhance black level processing requiring the laser to be set to one hundred percent, result in an sdr actually being too bright unless you have larger than average screen. But arian barium, belgium is supposedly working on a firm work update to address that, don't ever wait for former updates. And they did run into some Operational bugs as well as a visible laser speckle speaker.

But subjectively, they thought I could stand up to Johnson and jvc projectors while being a lot smaller and less expensive. So most is curious what we make uh, of those right ups and if the information they are presenting as false or misleading with companies like absolute jb c, take action as they have about the claims of other projections in the past. I guarantee you absent will if absent things you're lying, the one million percent will because they are getting denial later on.

Amazon in these other places by these these crazy claims. And I know I have a little little bit of insider knowledge from the second hand source sort of thing that's like there were people within within these companies saying, listen, this claim is not accurate. We cannot say this. And they ran with IT anyways, and then they dig IT suit for IT. So absence will almost certainly if if they feel like it's it's if they feel like it's a big enough threat to their business model, they will do something about that. I don't know about jvc, but absent certainly well um because absent is you know while they are not look at entry level projector within the world of home theater, they are kind of the entry of bank absent their kind of the go to so they do have something to lose in this and they had .

projectors with very similar for rem factor, this lifestyle type of forever factor to these. First, they have direct head to head competition. The projector reviews right up that that was not a review like I know the website is projector reviews to com and they are definitely a trusted source for reviews. But that was one of those you, tom, is familiar where you take the press release and then you are.

what if you call IT like A D press release, take out the first line, which is you leave the name of the company in the first line, velarium market leader for this, right? That and also has the biggest bad, this engine in their car has released this this projector. So you take out that the woods between the two commas and then second paragraph is always a quote from somebody there. Then the third paragraph is actual information, and the fourth paragraphs usually crap that you delete. And then the last paragraph is where or when is going to be released.

How much in the cost the projector reviews right up was that because and he was in their news section, IT was not in their reviews section. Uh, so that was a that was a rewritten press release of that one. The projector junky is one that really was hands on and he took his own measures and all that sort of stuff.

And so look, I mean ah is that anti lemon measured output, even calibrated because I mean the three thousand when it's uncle dated in everything has an incredibly Green cast to IT. That's not super surprising. We see that in all sectors where the yeah you can get you can get lemans out of this thing, uh without the look like what you want them to look like, who knows?

But you you can do that but with the calibrated being you know kind of close, that was with the the zoom range of its maximum wide angle, right so um which is always the case that is with the laser at one hundred percent of course um you know as bright as you can, but that is higher than I might have expected, uh IT to actually measure um you know I might have expected IT to measure around one thousand hundred or something like that. So good on them. I mean that seems legitimate that they really did get this higher light output figure, the um enhance black level Price session.

I mean that there not making no bones about IT IT is manipulating the image to make IT subjectively look like IT has darker black levels in higher contrast point IT out how if you have a scene with average picture level that is brighter, and you still have black bars on the screen, you know, it's the two point three, five to one, and you still have black bars, you can see the difference in the black bars. The the level of those black bars rises and lowers as the movie is progressive. Because if you get to a low average picture level scene, IT can dim the entire rely laser.

This is global. Dimon, that's what this thing is. Is global, not local, dimmed.

You can do IT in little sections. It's global. deming. They can dim the entire laser if when you get to an overall dim scene, the black bars get black ker, because the whole laser got dimer, but then do not have the shadow detail completely crushed.

They frame by frame, manipulate the gamma y're, manipulating the image and subjectively doing a good job of IT. Like all, that's fine. I have no problem with all of that.

There were, within the limitations of the D, L, P technology, is the basic chip, the light engine that they have. We have these new, less expensive system on chips that can now be afforded and provide quite a bit of processing power in there. And it's like, yeah, you know what? LCD TV are doing stuff like that too, right?

If if they don't have full array local dimming, even if they do, they are manipulating other parts of the contrast of the image to try and get you that maximum deepest black level, highest contrast, brightest peaks, all of those things that that type manipulation is happening. So i've no doubt that you put this up against an ultra shorter throw projector, which is also gonna D, L P, also gonna be laser driven gonna, quite similar inside honestly, just a completely different land system. And like this stacks up really well.

Like that's not a lie. I don't think this person is the least bit lying about any of that um or or misleading. I think if you ve got this projector for the Price that you're paying and you're coming from something that is lesser, you're gonna like, well, that's really impressive.

Like, I think this is probably gonna a good looking. Or like just on that flat first blush, is this good looking or bad looking? Oh, bet this is a good looking project or I don't doubt any of that. Um when he was going on about the like beauty of the industrial design like it's a black cube.

It's a black cube due that was that was weird that part of the review, I don't know why he felt necessary, but the meat, the entire meat of review was the tiny little cons section, that's all you had to pay attention to. And that all long projective chunky review, the tightly little consideration was like IT had bugs had to turn the light laser light up to one hundred percent to get the enhances black level of work, which was actually completely inaccurate. Made sdr too bright.

It's like overly brightened. Everything is kind of glare ing when that was on. And yeah, they say they're working on from updates, but this thing is opposed to coming out to may have twenty twenty five anyway.

And that's why a kick starter who knows if they actually hit those things. And then there's still laser speco on this because they don't have the fancy or lens. Is that mitigate the laser spects like.

There is your review, the cons section. He kept IT short because he wanted to keep the manufactured happy. They sent this project tor early to him so he could review IT on his website and get the clicks on those things.

But that cos section that was that was the review. It's like it's not perfect. It's not magic.

It's A D, L, P. projector. And the the processing is impressive and the little put is impressive. I don't have any dots about those things. And Better if you saw you like man for two thousand books, that's a pretty done, good looking, easily portable, easy to set up, little black, you have a project or am like, i'm really impressed by this thing that I don't debt for a second.

Whatever, scrolling, scrolling, scroll, scroll, turning tons of fellows at the huge def taxi s ninety eighty center speaker to me. And he has a little stories share about that.

Back when he was just starting something, the journey, his sound bar, he went to improve upon that he researched on his own, and depending a pair of death attack, bp ninety eighty x towers with their built inside firing powered based wafers and integrated upwards, firing utmost module, the media, two point, two point two. Step up, if you're willing to think of them that way, which I am not right, but I will take your word for IT. He was actually quite content with how they sounded because that was his first parachute.

And in hindsight, he probably should have stop watching more home theater channels on youtube and reading comments. But internet, the center speaker, so that all ended up the ninety eighty but he found IT underwhelming and IT rattle his T V stand because it's humongous and that has power drivers for no parent reason. But instead of just moving on, he double down and ended up buying a second one since they're on sale, a good Price, and made them into a stereo pair for his bedroom.

They've sent fine for a while that way, but he arranges fed reference itself. And the pair of death tech center just took up to which space. So they're been their boxes unused, ever sensing one up, changing the speaker sense home. There's selected those death tech towers are still in use in this house, but as part of his driving simulate rig, now you're got to see this .

guys you click or out if you're listen audio only or you can see IT on youtube right now as we're .

talking about IT. I don't know of this man is a bachelor or not, but the screams bachelor .

IT north decorated, quite bare setting of a role room .

with White walls, White tile, White roles, looks like a converted garage or something.

No decoration on those walls.

That's right. He had the pair of surrounds speak behind them. So it's kind of a four point two point two said that good enough for for a motorsport at least.

I mean, you probably rock on that thing. I would be honest with you. I would actually move the speakers up and out and like to him directly into your face.

Yeah, might as well. This is a one.

this is a one person set up because if you if you move them up a little bit and up of a little bit gives you much wider separation and tom and your face, and then you're just getting as more most dragged some as possible. You want to ask some questions, some of them just cursy.

If you do happen to be using speakers with built in powered base for first, like his death text, do we still say to set them to smaller AV receive? Or what if your room correction program alone, mac system or large, should you manually change them to small? And then what give them a lower, the Normal cross over frequency? No, you said that the small, always, always, if I OK are what you receiver says, it's not the boss of you.

You're the boat. You said to small because those powered buffers are still going to be playing sound at that eighty hurts cross over point and above and a little bit below actually, because it's not a brick wall. So yes, you still want to set the small.

You still want to have them cross over. You still want to have them crossed over to a Normal cross over, which would be around eighty. Maybe is a little bit higher, maybe a little bit lower, but it's not based on the size of the speaker or how low speaker can go. It's based on your room and how the base sounds in your room. If your sneakers and suber are not crossing over evenly, if you're getting some sort of weird suck out or maybe boost at at the eighty hearts frequency that we tell you to start out, then you would change IT to something else and see if .

that sounds Better. How do you know we usually just going higher is just going up, up, not down. Down is usually worse.

but sometimes just not but usually yes so yes yeah .

I absolutely get the intuitive uh, thinking that people have of I want my speaker to play as low as I can and then for what I can play all transition over and let the number for handle what the speaker can play, can go lower than forty hurts. So that will transition over. IT has almost nothing to do with how low your speaker can play.

You can have a speaker that itself outdoors, or an an antico c chAmber plays ruler flat down to two hurts. Great for that speaker. Good on IT. wonderful. But you take that speaker, you set IT up where IT makes sense to set up the speakers for a proper stereo imaging because that's the number one prior. And then you play a sweep through that one speaker all by itself down to twenty hurts.

And sitting in your seat, or particularly if you have like a three seater coach, pretty common set up, and you sit in all three seats of that three seder coach, you can listen to that sweet played down to twenty hurts through that one speaker in its good location for stereo imaging. And I like what the speaker can play down to twenty hurts perfectly. Flatten lenie.

But that's not what i'm hearing anymore. I got this speaker into a room in its proper position. And now IT starts sounding like a roller host in terms of volume at some point, right? Maybe that starts at eighty hours.

Maybe IT starts lower than eighty. It's whatever is. But at some point, it's not sounding uniform in linear anymore. That's all because of broom interaction.

So that's why we always said all our speakers to small doesn't matter how low the speaker can play great on that speaker, if I can. But we still set IT too small. We work bottom up.

We want to set up like a pair, or for some buffers as ideas. We cancel that in all three seats of that three sitter coach have nice, even uniform based response across our seats. And now that allows us to set across over frequency, higher if we need to.

We listen to that sweep through the one speaker at a time. It's like, how long can that speaker go before IT starts sounding non uniform from T, C. To sea? How long can that speaker play before the base starts going up or down in volume in response to its position in the room? And we cross IT over the over to the sub for above that point. And that's the approach that we take.

He heard about draque new art or active room treatment system, is supposed to use the base output from all of your speakers, actively addressed base response in your room, so they recommend using full range speakers in every position of possible, so that a good argument for speakers with designs like his death tax, with having large powered baseball ers in every speaker, help to maxim performance of jura's art system.

Unfortunately, most speakers that have buffers that are designs, buffers, are designed to be these sort of a high. And audio solutions are Normally not really ever getting down to twenty hours, not not cleanly. So in in theory you're saying here in theory, if if that speaker did in fact reach all way down to twenty hurts with that with drugs art system be an argument for buying that speaker the answer is yes. But almost certainly IT would be cheaper and uh, easier to buy a dedicated subber and a bookshelf speaker and stack on top each other in the same situation. But I mean, you could get depending on the size of the room, of course you could get a budget S, V, S subs and just stack them all around with bookshop on top .

and start getting into OK. So now I put five or seven sub offers in room, spread around the room, because your speakers are going to be spread around the room. And it's like, well, if I just got four instead of five or seven and I use direct own base optimization, right? There are duck life base control and I did IT in that traditional set up.

How different are things sounding between having the traditional uh, force of over set up at the mid points or at the four corners of a of the room spread around the room versus having five or seven and then having the mall playful range in using the uh draft art now the argument IT is that will direct art um that consistency that uniform from seat to seat is improved to an even higher frequency range right all the way up through the entire base range like we're talking all the way up to five hundred hours. Um where as a course what they force up of a system, if you are using a traditional eighty hearts cross over, you're not necessarily getting that uh benefit of the the full uniformity across all you see. Like we're talking you know two three row type of uh theatres, multiple multiple seats and trying to get that all the way up through the entire base range even in the upper base.

It's like drag art could definitely still have some benefits there um potentially but yeah, I mean, I agree with tom. If i'm going to do this, I want to have if it's gonna full range, I want to be full range, truly full range. That means always down to when he hurts at all of those positions.

You're probably gonna Better off having actual subber is handling those things. People have loved this idea, full rain speakers all around them, for so long. This is giving a great excuse.

If that's what people want to do, then drag is giving them the excuse to do that. I have no problem with that. I don't think it's the best use of money. I don't think it's the best way to budget and prioritize. Personally, the solution .

and in in surge problem have been .

dreaming of this then fine.

But I think the money that you spend on this whole system, you can get as good, if not Better, by just getting drag, regular drag and room treatments and probably play sub fers on a different topic. He's gone apple T V four k plug into his nokia R S C fifty receiver. Sometimes he uses IT to play apple music and actually really enjoys quite a few of the dolbeer at most music selections that are available.

Since just playing music and doesn't need the T V on, try using setup the T V off. T does not like that. But if he does that, the music on metics stop after or two means or so, and only keeps playing if he keeps the T, V turned on, even though IT isn't really showing anything.

So that just in H, U, I, C, C, thing is, are awake and turn off his T, V, but continues in apple music, on the apple T, V, K. Um I know that. Don't see why, if you might see, see, we have anything to do with this.

And yeah, this is C, U. C. Because that would turn the apple TV forced to stand by immediately as soon as the TV is powered off. So this is, by default, the apple TV k has a little power saving feature where IT puts itself to sleep. When IT detects that there is no video signal being used anymore that you can adjust, you can turn that to a setting or turn IT to something like you know four hours where you know if you're listening to music that much longer than maybe okay reactivating and waking a backup but yeah by default is set to like five minutes so that that's probably what's going on there. Uh so yeah that is a settle that in the ah the power saving uh settings of your apple T V kin you can turn that to never or four hours or something like that and that should allow you to keep using that the way you want to know uh.

he ask, can do be utmost, be centrally a blue truth and with about air play too um I don't think so but not blue tooth.

There's no atmos oper blue truth airplay to technically yes uh because if you are sending a um like a video signal without most audio attached to IT that can all be sent over airplay too um so that that can work um yeah I guess that's about IT IT can work over airplay too. It's it's possible to do with that way because they use the a the dolby mat uh which is actually like two channel P C M. That's what's actually being sent.

That's the base single. But then IT has all this meta data attached technology to IT uh ah the math signal on there and that has all the utmost extensions built in there for the decoder on the other end. So IT can be done over. So he's going .

to ipad in the mac book, both of U, S, B, C connections, if you wants to plug either or those into a sous river is as simple as going to A U, S, B, C to edge in my table. No.

no.

Was you need. Is he trying to get audio out or is he trying to get all of IT out?

Uh well either way either way, IT isn't quite that simple. Um with the ipad, uh there is a USB c 的 HDMI adapter that that is an available uh dongle product that you can buy from apple or from companies like belt and have a have versions as well that are a little less expensive than the official apple branded one。 But there is a USB c to HDMI adapter dongle and that's what you would get for that for the mac book.

I've never come across the right book that doesn't have at least one of its U S, B C port. Is a thunder able poor? So that's what you would actually use.

You need thunder able to H D M I. That would allow you to do IT. But IT IT does need to be funder able, not just U S. B, C.

At the end of .

those questions.

okay, we're done.

okay. That means we have on our list for next week. First up, bread and max, those are on the list.

And anything that came in on monday will be added to that. Everything that comes through the week will be added as well. We'll get to those next week.

Alright, when I think I listen the week when I think brad, for going to be rent a com, click on the vice a cup of coffee link and sending a paypal demining as well, or hundred and thirty two patrons or repeat on that come.

That is right. bread. Thank you so much for that. Paypal donations, that continued donations that way are wonderful to see. And patron dot com slash, if v red podcast is the place to go to make an automatic monthly donation to help with the behind the scenes costs of keeping heavy at going so big. Thanks to our one hundred and thirty two patrons over there.

thanks. Invite gary for letting me test the movie code for him.

Yeah.

thank you. Thank ryan for something a oh, guess. Just go, ryan and then and tony for a setting up for sending or either offering to send or sending products to me.

That's thank you, right? And thank dan. Thank tony .

and leave for tony and herb for um connecting connects, noise control to possibly get some panel set my way yeah that'll be .

a big help just an early yet. We did speak to him quite a while back at this point, but we did have an interview with connecting noise control that was a fun interview so thank you so much to herb for I mean with everything is going on on his own personal level and he still still looking .

for ways to to you buy a ico phone yes, I sport cross spectrum labs s just don't even listen spots anymore. We don't love you. We also get some no segrave de from sappi mark in longo, carl, b. Branda's husband Andrew, dave, jim and bra. Thank you for thanking us.

That's right now. Say the names one more time saucy mark, longo, carl, Brandon render husband Andrew, dave, jim and very, very notes of gratitude, very much appreciated a big way. Thank you to everybody who continues to listen and sending your questions.

Where do you and i'm .

on and on roberge go out to listen to something?
