TUDCA, a bile acid naturally produced in the body, has robust benefits for liver health and is FDA-approved for treating certain cholestatic liver diseases. Research also shows benefits for the gastrointestinal tract, metabolism, neurodegenerative diseases, obesity, diabetes, inflammation, apoptotic conditions, cancer, and hormones.
Pre-incubation with TUDCA before alcohol consumption significantly decreases metabolic activity and cell viability, increases membrane permeability, and worsens alcohol toxicity. This can lead to further liver damage, making it crucial to avoid taking TUDCA before drinking alcohol.
The most frequent side effects include gastrointestinal discomfort, nausea, diarrhea, headache, changes in appetite, and dermatological changes. Some reports also indicate lower serum levels of platelets, iron, and HDL, particularly at higher dosages.
Increasing fiber intake, particularly partially hydrolyzed guar gum (PHGG), can regulate gastric motility, reduce diarrhea, and support microbiome diversity. PHGG also aids in bile recycling and improves gastrointestinal health.
Artichoke extract and glutathione are effective supplements to stack with TUDCA. Artichoke extract supports liver protection, cardiovascular health, and metabolic health, while glutathione acts as a powerful antioxidant, enhancing liver protection and overall metabolic health.
Research suggests dosages ranging from 500 mg daily for two months to 1,750 mg per day for four weeks, depending on the condition being addressed. Splitting dosages throughout the day, such as 500 mg in the morning and 500 mg at night, can optimize benefits and minimize side effects.

Tudka, otherwise known as Tudka is in fact one of my favorite supplements. In fact, I used Tudka this morning before this recording. And so what I wanna do in this is actually outline, there are side effects associated with this particular compound. There are side effects associated with pretty much every single supplement on the market.
What I wanna do in this is actually share with you how we can minimize the side effects of a very powerful compound known as Tudka. Just a reminder, Tudka is a bile acid naturally produced in the body and can also be synthesized artificially. Now research shows robust benefits for the liver and is even US FDA approved for treatment of certain cholestatic liver diseases.
Now, further studies have found benefits for the gastrointestinal tract, metabolism, neurodegenerative diseases, obesity, diabetes, inflammation, apoptotic conditions, cancer, hormones, and more. So obviously, this is not medical advice, but we can clearly see that there's quite a lot of research on this particular compound for a wide variety of conditions. Now,
The rule number one that I really want to emphasize and I see a number of people making this mistake online, never mix Tutka with alcohol. So do not take Tutka before drinking alcohol. Now, this study here was titled toxicity of ethanol and acetaldehyde in hepatocytes treated with Tutka.
So Tudka and Utka only in rather high concentrations reduce ethanol and acetylaldehyde into use toxicity in a different way. When incubated simultaneously with hepatocytes in contrast, pre-incubation with bile acids intensified cell damage. Therefore the protective effect of Tudka in alcohol or acetylaldehyde treated SKHEP1 cells remains dubious.
So this study shows pre-incubation with Tudka significantly decreased metabolic activity and cell viability and led to increased membrane permeability. Therefore, toxicity from alcohol was worsened, indicating Tudka and alcohol should not be mixed, especially if taking before alcohol consumption. So what is the takeaway here? If you know you're gonna be drinking, like let's say it's a Friday night or a Saturday night,
Try not to take Tutka or your Tutka supplement in the morning of that day. Instead, it's best to use the Tutka supplement the following day after drinking alcohol. This is just to prevent, you know, further liver damage. But you guys know, like, I'm not a fan of drinking alcohol. Like, I never...
I don't drink alcohol ever. I use a range of other supplements and nootropics that activate the GABA pathways, that activate dopamine production, that makes me more confident, more outgoing, less inhibited, better verbal fluency without the side effects of a comedown or toxicity or hangover or anything like that. So not a fan of alcohol, but of course there's gonna be some people here that do like drinking wine or having an alcoholic drink every now and then.
This is information for you guys. The other commonly reported side effects associated with Tudka, the most frequent adverse event reported in research is gastrointestinal discomfort, rated as mild to moderate. So additional side effects may include nausea, diarrhea, headache, change in appetite and dermatological changes. There have been some reports of Tudka supplementation causing lower serum levels of platelets, iron and HDL, which may be of concern for some individuals,
All effects typically result at higher dosages and resolve with cessation of supplementation. Now, how do you actually overcome these side effects? Well, first way, the best way to offset the most common side effects of Tudka and GI distress and diarrhea, one can increase their fiber intake to regulate gastric motility and digestion and bowel movements. However, not all fiber types are created equal.
And so this is why I like using PHGG. PHGG is partially hydrolyzed guar gum. Now, PHGG is a particular fiber that has been shown to significantly reduce diarrhea and also constipation. Furthermore, PHGG actually supports microbiome diversity, bile recycling. So it actually helps to recycle Tudka and supports gastrointestinal health.
So daily consumption of Tutka has been shown to improve gastrointestinal health of healthy athletes. PHGG also assists in reducing diarrhea. It supports microbiota diversity and also lowers abundance of harmful bacteria and increases energy recovery in athletes. So I'm a big fan of combining Tutka with PHGG. In fact, I had some this morning before this video.
Now you're probably wondering what actually stacks well with Tudka. Well, to optimize the benefits of Tudka, consider stacking it with either artichoke extract and glutathione. So artichoke extract, I'm a big fan. It's a
you know, compound or a herb that's good for liver protection, cardiovascular health and metabolic health. The dosages we're looking at is around 6000 milligrams or a 1800 milligram of a 25 to 35 to one extract. And if we're looking at the mechanisms, artichoke actually possesses antioxidant anti inflammatory, hepatoprotective bile enhancing, glycemic control and lipid lowering by its in inulin content.
and choleric properties. So numerous molecular polyphenol constituents and positive effects on cellular adhesion molecules as well. Looking at glutathione, benefits include liver protection, cardiovascular health, and metabolic health. And the dosages we're looking at is around 250 milligrams orally with a range of 50 to 600 milligrams per day. So
Glutathione is a you know, the mass antioxidant that can combine really well with artichoke extract and also to cut looking at the dosage ranges with or without food with to go taking to go supplements alongside meals can actually assist in digestion and improve absorption.
If taken on an empty stomach, that is more likely when you'll notice side effects such as GI distress. So I actually recommend taking Tudka alongside food or with the main meal. And the dosage ranges from research
1,750 milligrams or 1,750 milligrams per day for four weeks, improved insulin sensitivity and fatty liver disease. 10 to 13 milligrams per day for three months, improved liver regenesis rates and decreased ALT. So that is a very low dosage. And 500 milligrams daily for two months, oh sorry, for two six-month periods separated by a three-month washout period, improved liver enzymes without side effects.
So again, it's probably best to split up your dosages throughout the day. I personally like to do it all 500 milligrams in the morning and usually like 500 milligrams at nighttime. So that wraps up today's podcast. If you did find this episode helpful, please consider leaving a review. Thank you very much for tuning in. I look forward to seeing you in the next podcast.
