Publisher's Summary: Designed for families with children ages four through 10, this Bible story book takes a panoramic, chronological look at the character of God. "Do as David did. Don't do as Saul did. Follow this Old Testament person, but not that New Testament person." That's what you may find in many Bible story books. In Mighty Acts of God Starr Meade takes a new approach to teaching the Bible to elementary school aged children: she focuses not on characters in Scripture, but on God. Each of the ninety Bible stories included focus on a particular character trait or truth about God, emphasizing that God is the main character in every Bible story. Each story in Mighty Acts of God is retold in lively, modern-day language from a Reformed perspective, and is followed by an application section with several discussion-sparking questions and prayer points. By moving chronologically through both the Old and New Testaments, parents and children glimpse the person of God as one of consistency, vibrancy, passion, and love.

Members Reviews: Excellent resource for Family Devotions We found this to be an amazingly helpful overview of the story line of the Bible that teaches sound doctrine and captured the attention of my two sons, ages 11 and 8. Only in a few places were there some interpretations that were a bit stretched. Nothing major however. I would highly recommend this book for family devotions. One other very minor critique. There were many places where there was some difficulty in grammar where it did not read naturally or smoothly (in fact very choppy). I don't attribute that to the author but rather to the editor. However, I am a huge fan of Crossway publishing and truly trust much of what they produce.

Great book for family time Great book for family time. i love that it tells stories, but looks at them from God's perspective and lessons. My kids, 8 and 10, really enjoy it. We all take turns reading, but an adult reads the discussion portion.

Informative but mature This book was written exclusively for elementary age students. After reviewing it, I find it geared more toward older children, even young adults. I will be reading it myself and saving it for my grandson who is only seven as it will be years before he will understand it. I think it is definitely something he will not be able to read himself and even if his parents or I read it to him, it is too advanced for him to understand. Even my sunday school class would enjoy this book. I was looking for a young child's bible book, so keep that in mind if you are looking toward that age.

Great book! But not for Kindergarteners I ordered this book to do devotionals with my kids in the morning. I love that it is God focused, pointing to God through each story instead of making the Bible's stories into man-centered fairy tales. At this point I'm just having to explain a lot and "dumb" some of the language down so that my 5 and 3 year olds can understand, but I look forward to using this book in the future as my kids mature a little.

Bible truths for children reverentially presented Excellent presentation of biblical truths without the "cutesy" oversimplification that seems to be the norm nowadays. The audio book version is a staple in the car with the kids as our bible study. I wish her follow up called the Wonderous Works of God was also on audio. (Hint, hint, Ms.
