Publisher's Summary: We all have a desperate need for God - not just for following him or being committed to him, but to be intimately connected to him. We long for purpose, for affirmation, for attention, for nurture. But Gari Meacham writes that we fall short of being desperate for God, or we miss the longed-for romance with God we hear about in scripture. Were uncertain how to distinguish our longings from our fears. When, says Meacham, did our longings turn to hauntings? And when did we buy into the counterfeit yearnings for control, and the insecurity, perfectionism and other attitudes that quench Spirit Hunger? The answer to Spirit Hunger is to engage God like never before. In this book Meacham shows, through her story and the stories of others, how to turn worry into belief, problems and heartaches into a life of intimate prayer, and sighs for intimacy into closeness with God. She discusses her discoveries about prayer including why asking is sometimes hard, how we can notice and track Gods movements as we seek his answers, and why its sometimes such a struggle to believe after weve prayed. Meacham writes, "With the authenticity of my own life stories - marriage to a professional baseball player, struggles with severe food bondage, and a father who was a quadriplegic - I came to the crisp realization that my prayer life and my belief needed to match. Spirit Hunger provides a clear path towards matching these heart cries - leading away from crumbs and counterfeit, to a hungering for God."
Members Reviews: It eneded up being a good choice. I appreciated the stories the author shared ... Bought this book for a small woman's group. I didn't have much time to pick out a book so gave this one a quick glance and took a chance. It eneded up being a good choice. I appreciated the stories the author shared about her life. Although I wasn't wowed at the turn of every page, it was a very pleasant read and ended up being a good book for my ladies. The feedback I got from the group was all positive. I would recommend it for most. If you are someone (like me) who likes to go deeper you will still appreciated her experiences and the testimonies of God's faithfulness.
A must read for every Christian. Gari, you captured the essence of what it means to desire that close personal daily walk with our Saviour. I read it twice and plan to share. Thanks

I really found inspiration in how she lives her life ... I really found inspiration in how she lives her life. She's a tough cookie. She helps me lean on Jesus more which is so very important!
Comforting.... It is comforting to know that others can feel the same hunger for the Spirit. Whether you have what you desire or you think you are not worthy, God wants you & is there to guide you gently (sometimes) on the path he has for you. Gari gives wonderful ideas to work towards the life we seek within the Spirit.
