In Kenya, the Mombasa-Nairobi Standard Gauge Railway (SGR) is said to be a project that has changed everything. It runs faster than other road traffic and old railway lines and is also popular among travelers. It’s making the port of Mombasa cheaper, more convenient and a better choice for trade in East Africa. But according to Nairobi-based journalist Juliet Njau, people have realized that impacts from the SGR are more than just economical.
