Starting in Asia today, Iran fired missiles at a United States military base in Qatar last night. Qatar said that it intercepted the missiles and nobody was hurt. Qatar shut its airspace for a few hours.

United States President Donald Trump wrote messages on the Truth social media platform that he owns, saying that Iran's attack was weak, saying that nobody was hurt, and also thanking Iran for giving notice that the attack was going to happen. Qatar has said that it reserves the right to retaliate against Iran.

Israel continued to bomb Iran yesterday, with strikes hitting airfields, missile launchers, facilities belonging to the Iranian Revolutionary Guard, and the Evin prison, where political prisoners are known to be held. In Syria, at least 22 people were killed in a shooting and suicide bombing attack against a Greek Orthodox church on Sunday, according to state media.

America's Colombia's army said that 57 of its soldiers were kidnapped on the weekend and were rescued yesterday. The army said that civilians had kidnapped the soldiers under pressure from former members of the FARC rebel group.

Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez has said that he has secured an exemption for Spain from a new proposal for NATO members to spend 5% of their GDP on defence. Spain currently only spends about 1.3% of its GDP on defence alone.

Russian media has reported that North Korea will send another 5,000 soldiers to Russia's Kursk region. According to Britain's defence ministry, North Korea has suffered 6,000 casualties while its soldiers were fighting against Ukraine, more than half of the 11,000 soldiers that it sent to fight for Russia.
