On June 1, 1985, 34-year-old Kathryn Wilhoit was found murdered in her Tulsa, Oklahoma apartment. Her throat had been slashed, and her body was discovered on the floor by officers conducting a welfare check. Her two infant daughters were found unharmed in their cribs nearby.
Her estranged husband, Greg Wilhoit, was later convicted of her murder and sentenced to death. After serving five years on death row, he was exonerated when forensic evidence—including bite mark analysis used at trial—was discredited. Despite his release and full exoneration, Kathryn’s murder remains unsolved to this day.
Krissy Zarn, one of Kathryn’s daughters, who was just a baby at the time of the crime, reflects on growing up in the aftermath of a tragedy that shattered her family, her father’s wrongful conviction, and her ongoing pursuit of justice for her mother nearly 40 years later.
