OTTAWA TAKES ON TECH GIANTS OVER BILL C-18
Liz West is now joined by Dr. Michael Geist, A law professor at the University of Ottawa who holds the Canada Research Chair in Internet and E-commerce Law.
Ottawa has received pushback from tech giants like Google and Meta (owner of Facebook) after Bill C-18 (also known as the Online News Act) got royal assent and will be implemented in about six months time. Dr. Geist weighs in on the measures that these private companies plan to implement in response.
