Hi, Jimmy Carter. Do solemnly swear. There can be no nobler nor more ambitious task for America to undertake on this day of a new beginning than to help shape a just
I look upon the Carter Center of Work as an extension of what I try to do as president.
Carter was born in Plains, Georgia in 1924. He graduated from the Navy in 1946 and became a submarine officer. After his father's death, he returned to Plains to run a family farm in 1953. Carter joined the political scene during the 1960s during the Civil Rights Movement. In 1971, he served as the governor of two states before becoming the governor of Georgia. I say to you quite frankly,
that the time for racial discrimination is over. Carter was a famous southern governor in 1971. In 1976, he defeated Republican Jared Fultz with his weak advantage and won the presidential election.
Carter's success in his term was the final peace treaty between the Daewi League and Egypt in 1979. There had been four wars between Arabs and Israelis in the previous 25 years. With the Egyptians and the leadership supported by the Soviet Union, they were the only country that could really challenge Daewi.
Israel militarily.
The protest of the pro-democracy leaders of the pro-labour party has overthrown the support of the US king of Iran. The king escaped from Iran. The radicals then attacked the US Embassy in the Netherlands and arrested 66 Americans as hostages. At the end of November, 13 hostages were killed. In April 1980, Carter authorized a military operation to rescue the remaining hostages. The operation failed and eight American soldiers were killed. Carter was also facing challenges in China at the time.
I envisioned it to be a tiny thing.
But the scale of the project was much larger than that.
The center has become a world-famous non-profit organization, which has supervised more than 100 elections, including the 1994 North Korean nuclear crisis and the conflict between Uganda and the Sudan Peace Agreement. The center is also promoting health and immunity diseases in the poorest areas of the world, and completely eliminating the Maldivian dragon-like disease has always been its main goal.
In 2022, only 13 cases of human-infected cases were reported, the lowest number so far. There's only been one disease in the history of humankind ever eradicated, and that was smallpox more than 30 years ago. So guinea worm is going to soon be the second disease in history
Carter, with his humanitarian work, won the Nobel Peace Prize in 2002 in Oslo, Norway. Carter was very active until he was 90. He also had a stroke in 2015.
But the health status of the US mine and the global COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 made him spend his late years in his hometown of Plains. Carter once shared his hope for the future with the United States. That was one of his last public media appearances. I would like to see the United States in the future strive to be the number one champion in the world of peace and human rights and environmental equality.
Carter is the most successful White House owner so far. And he and Rosalyn's 76-year marriage also set the longest record among former US presidents and first wives. The American reporter Farah reported.
