After a scrappy opening to the London derby, Jean-Philippe Mateta fired the home side ahead just past the half-hour mark before a deflected strike off Brennan Johnson struck the post and James Maddison - on his 200th Premier League appearance - forced a smart save from Dean Henderson just before the break. But the equaliser continued to elude us throughout as Palace battled hard to protect their lead to pick up their first victory of the campaign.
