he seemed very sympathetic and serving like, and take care of me. We instantly vive.

and we had a very good time study.

graduated harvard.

He was trying to be big and ROI on politics. You went from sharma to a monster in a heart beat.

What are you from me? stop.

I wondered if he was going .

to kill me in that baseman.

He's dangerous, dangerous.

I learned that nick was being soap ed by .

the FBI for fraud. They found a trail of victims, proof.

we believe, his fake, his own death, that he's in europe.

numerous alias.

There are a lot of people out there who say that you're not the man you're portraying yourself to be. Could this wanted man now be living in disguise as this english? And in did you sexually assault anyone? Did you do .

fraud anyone?

This could be a movie. This will be a may be there. You couldn't make IT up.

News report said he was dead. Investigator said he was living on the lamb. Go along on a wild hunt for the truth. I'm last hold, and this is deadline.

Here's andrey a canning with dead men talking. Midi e volk stals mysterious locks. And hunting landscapes. Scotland is rich with legends and law, and it's the settle of a present day mystery that has captured the world's attention. Now at the center is this man is, well, that's the million dollar question.

More enforcement, international media and deadline have spent months trying to find out authority, say he's a wanted american future of named Nicholas as allibert an he insists he's an innocent englishman named Arthur night wrongly swept up in an international dragnet. One thing is for sure, is one of the most perplexing and confounding people we've ever encountered. So are you saying .

that they've got the wrong guy?

And are you crying? Or sir.

i'm sorry, I can't work. People say that, is that let me try to stand up. Let me try to stand up the story's .

stranger than fiction. But that's what's great about IT, and it's not over yet.

The trail that let us to scotland in that baffling interview started here in road island, where we began our investigation into a man of many faces, places and names. Nicholas Oliver tian was born just outside of providence in one thousand nine hundred eighty seven. Who was the Young man, you know, gentle soul.

smiling face, you've learned into my arms, always happy to see me. He was just a happy child.

Michael Oliveri, and is Nicholas uncle, he says behind his new hews smile was a childhood, was anything but a delic? What was the family dynamic, like with Nicholas, is when he was a child.

there was turmoil in the family. My brother a had some issues, so there quite a few fights, arguments, that type of thing.

Nicholas father was a felon convicted of writing fragile and checks, dealing drugs and domestic assault. The situation at home in cranston, a suburb of providence, became so dangerous, Michael says. Nicholas, his mother, got a restraining order and went into hiding with Nicholas and his Younger brother and sister. The couple eventually divorced.

I'm sure that took its toll. A Nicholas and his siblings .

and things only got worse by the time Nicholas is turned twelve, his mother was unable to care for him, so he ended up in Foster care, floating between different families and group homes.

According to nick, he was treated poorly. He was uh, raped, assaulted, uh, daily. Sometimes tom muni .

writes for the providence journal and has been following Nicholas story for three years. We hired him to consult for us, he says, despite living through one trauma after the next, Nicholas was determined to make something of his life. A family court judge gave him that .

chance arrangements who were made to give neck a job at the statehouse as a status page pages, a teenage kids who do clerical work.

IT was the perfect fit for Nicholas, and he became a fixture at road island, seat of power. You were a representative here.

Yes, I was a red in two thousand and two thousand and four. I first met nick across the retna, and he was about fourteen years old, and he was a page.

Former state representative brian cogan says the teenager impressed everyone with a tireless worker that in a brilliant mind.

he would read bills that most reps and senators wouldn't read. He would read IT from front of back, learn the laws, know the Lawrence, so he was like a lawyer by train.

Nicholas spent long days at the statehouse wiling legislators before returning home to his other life.

Nick was actually pretty much of award.

The state cougar was so taken with Nicholas and everything he had been through that he briefly considered adopting him that didn't work out by one thousand Nicholas aged debt of the system and later went to college. Five years after that, he was back at the statehouse this time, fighting to bring change to the Foster care system.

He soni fied this, almost dick's character, who spent a great deal of time when he was Young in shelters and Foster homes, came from a very diffunce, tional family. And here is in a so coat, doing the best I can to improve his lot. That's how he got attention from the media. That's how he got great support and sympathy from lawmakers.

We found one state rap who remembers nichole las as a Young shining star on the hill. If you see, people were compassionate that really want to advocate for something, that's nick. In twenty eleven, representative rayman hole was newly elected when he was approached by Nicholas.

He describes him as a Young man with a tantia spirit, determined to make a difference. I V I can do for you how to help you. And I think I even sponge a couple of bills for him to try to change the processes of Y, F, D, C, Y, F.

The department of children, youth and families. The agency, Nicholas claimed, failed to protect him as a teenager. And I was objected to torture, beatings, assault in various forms.

Nichole las suit, D, C, Y, F. They denied the allegations. In the case ultimately settled, the details of the settlement are sealed. But the stories brought nicholle as sympathy and some powerful allies nickle .

have is rallies here. And as people to support them come down.

he get quite the audience here of listening.

He would get quite the audience. And nick was a more, he knew, you get this message out.

It's kids. And you know what? Kids are more important. Nicholas reconnected with his uncle, Michael allier tian. Michael says he was impressed that the man his nepal had become.

I was amazed that his knowledge, his intelligence of what he was trying to do, which I thought was a great thing.

he is just trying to protect children. But Nicholas crusade was about to be cut short. He contacted the present road island with a tragic announcement .

he had this terminal illness, non hodgkin illan former um he was going to die.

And less than two months later the news was out. Nicholas Oliver tian was dead at the age of thirty two. Sad news to pass along nichols verity a passed away from a long battle with cancer, but before long, new information about Nicholas as would start making its way around road island, leaving everyone wondering how well they really knew him and if he was really dead at all. The afterwards I .

got to call from the state police, we'd asked you not to have the mass, because Nicholas is not dead.

R, O, passed away from a long battle with cancer. Nica verdian was thirty two. His orbital ary sent out by the office of Nicholas elia tian ran in local papers in the boston globe according to the orbit. Nicholas, final words on his death bed were fear not and run toward the bliss of the sun as he listened to the music from the one thousand ninety seven film contact a movie about communicating with extra terrestrials the piece lotted Nicholas. As a beloved community leader, peacemaker, warrior, Nicholas was so well known here at the road island statehouse that when word of his death got out, legislators took time out of their proceedings to acknowledge him, a house resolution expression .

of nichole. Very, very sad, may you?

Just like his uncle was also sad, but proud he accomplish something. Father bernard hei, of our lady of mercy catholic church GTA call from a woman who said he was Nicholas widow. A woman named Lewis SHE said he .

was in switzerland. He had died. He asked if he can have a memorial mass here at our lady mercy.

Is this something that you were happy?

Morial, as I said, we have memorial masses for anybody.

So SHE sent nicolas bio for the priest to reference at the mass. And after .

reading that biography, you would think he was across between a mother Teresa and Nelson mandella.

SHE also sent him a lengthy list of requests.

SHE wanted four or five speakers, the speaker at the funeral, or either present elected officials or past elected officials, and then a list of music. He wanted mozarts and back and back. And one of the question was a read higher sympathic, a who would be paying for .

at that point? Father hely wasn't sure how to respond. What happened next was almost biblical, truly.

Afterwards, I got to call from the state police. We'd ask you not to have the mass because .

Nicholas is not dead. wow. IT wasn't that he'd reason from the dead.

said, we believe his fake his own death, that he's in europe.

he faked his own death. But why would a respected man who had become such a positive force for change tried to fool everyone? To begin to answer that question, we went back to his childhood before he was ever put in Foster care.

I said, these kids need to follow figure .

David rosy as Nicholas as adopt a father. Nicholas was eight when David married his mom in one thousand nine hundred ninety six. The two fell in love in a road island nightclub where David was an angle bird huberty comparison's, or who mingled with his idle and saying hits like after the love.

He was waiting in and he was absolutely beautiful. We ve got serious. We've got married.

That's what Nicholas allibert an became Nicholas rossy. Even at a Young age, David could tell he was a bright kid.

Computer is, math is just, in general, very high I Q. But he knew IT, and he took advantage of IT. He would threaten people, i'll get out my computer. I ruin your life in five minutes.

Along with those threats came physical violence by nicolas. David remembers one morning for school when Nicholas won't .

stop hiding his mother. He was swinging her swing. I picked up the way to school.

Call this, but, you know, yeah, a point way. You don't know what to do. This kid.

He ruined every thanksgiving, every Christmas, every birthday for hemis siblings. He was wicked. He was a devil. Swann, he really was.

David says, I got to the point where Nicholas's behavior was so bad they had to institutionalize him several times, but nothing seemed to .

work the model. Then nobody can you.

David admits he eventually had a breaking point. When Nicholas was ten years old, the family took a trip to disney world. He says Nicholas attacked his mother again.

He started hit, when I tell you, I snapped like that, I gonna a tomorrow. I'd beat the help out of them. I put him in the astle.

That's, yeah, I lost IT. I'm ashamed of IT. I always will be. He had a popping off.

He's a child I know and you're an adult and that child abuse.

I snapped all the years, all the years of the the problem and the trouble will trouble.

He says that would follow Nicholas as into adult. David was arrested for assault in florida, but says the charges were later dropped after authorities learned about Nicholas past issues shortly after David walked out on the family. That was about the time Nicholas ended up in Foster care. IT was a few years later when state rapper brian kogan considered adopting him. Did he straight ask you.

will you adopt me? Yes, he did.

Nicholas was fourteen when he called bryan one day from the courthouse crying. He said he was about to be shipped off to yet another group home if he wasn't adopted. That very day, brian raised over to the course.

The judge said, do you know what's going on with this kid? I said, being abuse, you know, to go Marks on scratches, Bruces. The judge says he had his whole file.

He said, I can't show this file. But trust me, everything he's telling you that being done to him, he's actually doing the other kids. So those are a .

big allegations.

big, big.

Since records involving children are sealed, the allegations made against Nicholas can be verified. Kogan took the judge's advice and didn't adopt. Nicholas is, and maybe dodged a bullet. Veteran reporter tom muni think so.

There are innumerable people who have come to his aid over the years, who have wanted to help him, who he ultimately turns on, that sort of gets to that other side of nick leverton.

That other side came out with a vengeance years later when he was attending syn Clair community college in date, ohio, a fellow students says, Nicholas reached down to her on my space.

He told me that he was new to the area and he wanted to have friends in the area.

Mary gribble sky was a one thousand nine hundred year old freshman. Te sin Clair SHE told nickle las SHE had a boyfriend and was interested in anything romantic. He assured her IT was not a problem. Soon after, they agreed to meet for lunch at the school cafeteria, and SHE brought along a friend.

He was extremely friendly. We hit off and he was charming. He was so easy to talk to you. He was a good listener and read a good time. yeah.

Afterwards, nick asked mary if he could walk her to her next class. Since IT was the middle of the day on a busy college campus, he thought, why not? Her classroom was in the basement.

So when he took me into the basement, I didn't think anything weird of IT.

But in that basement, mary encountered a different side of nickle las.

There were a couple times I wondered if you going to kill me in basement.

In the winter of two thousand eight, on an ohio college campus, twenty one year old Nicholas as rossy walked mary gribble skate class. Once they reached the bottom of a stairwell, alth SHE says, nick suddenly turned on her.

He pens me up against the wall, and he starts both hands going up my shirt.

And what are you saying to him?

I'm saying, hey, can you please get off me? I need to go to my, go to my class. I to test that day.

So I was really leveraging my test. Did he stop? no.

Did he continue?

He was trying to kiss me, and I would kind of put my head to the side because I was, I was very disgusted. He had his hands up my shirt. I just couldn't push him off me.

SHE saw another student coming down the stairs, but mary was too paralyzed to scream.

probably just thought we were for any teenagers, and ran right out.

Nicholas was undeterred.

He went from touching my shirt to, you know, taking my pants off. And yeah, oh.

he's pulling your pants down.

Yeah, he's touching himself.

Oh my gosh, what is going through your mind as all this is is happening in front of you?

I thought for sure he was going to write me, but I did. There were a couple times. I wondered if, you know, he was. He was going to kill me in that basement.

What does he say when he is finished?

Pretty much he finishes.

And I just like .

I ass.

too stunned to process what had happened. Mary went to class and took her test.

IT didn't hit me right away. I was just like to that do that really just happen to me?

He says when her test was over, he was back. Nichols was right outside her classroom waiting, where he profusely apologized.

He was begging me at that point not to press charges or to tell anybody what had happened.

Mary ignored him and went straight to the campus, the police, after starting an investigation, they sent her to the local prosecutors office.

When I first talk to the prosecutors, they said that they didn't have enough evidence um to to pursue a case against him.

They didn't want na do anything. No.

not at first. I wasn't until they they got a police report stating his version, saying that I was the aggressor.

Probably they're got feeling too, was looking at you and saying, really, yeah, she's the aggressor.

You said you were ninety pounds. I was I was fairly in back dania.

There was something about the way Nicholas is attacker that made her feel like he's .

done this before. IT almost felt ritualistic. I knew I was not his first, but I wanted to make sure I was the last.

In fact, another woman in ohio just fifteen days earlier reported to police that niclas rossy had sexually assaulted her, but SHE decided not to pursue IT further. In mary's case, he was charged with public indecency and sexual imposition, which means sexual contact against a person's will. What did he take from you in that moment?

Pretty much my world to live. But that was just the beginning for me.

Yeah, I didn't end there. no. Nicholas pleaded not guilty and the case went to trial. Mary says that when he was victimized yet again.

the worst part was his defense. Coming at me in, picking me in my story apart, talking about what happened to me wasn't hard. Having someone, you know, question who I am as a person and a question in my integrity. That was hard.

but the attack on mary's credibility didn't work. The judge believed herb and convicted Nicholas. As on both charges. Mary says he showed up to his sentencing wearing a three pea suit and holding something you'd never seen him with before.

He brought a cane and came in with a limp. And neither of the other two hearings that we had did he pretend as if he was injured. He, he, he walk fine.

Did you think I was a show?

I, I, I know for sure I was a show.

and SHE thinks his show may have had an effect. Nicholas got no jail time, perhaps a lesson he tuck away next to his pocket square to use in the future what the judge .

sentences to. He did sentence a fine. He had to attend a sex offender rehabilitation program. He had to register a sex offender for fifteen years.

But that wasn't the last mary would hear from Nicholas, far from IT. What emotions are you feel like?

It's pretty much fear the whole time.

Mary grip in sky, breathe to sive relief. After Nicholas rossy was convicted of attacking her, SHE was ready to move on, but a few months later, he got worried that the judge had reopened the case. Nicolas claimed that he had new evidence that would clear him a post on myspace allegedly written by mary .

saying she's made the whole thing up IT is a drunk confession that the event that happened between nick and ee was not only consensual, but I lied about IT to the police to hide my und ying love ferny.

The judge thought the post was a fake and close the case. But Nicholas, as still wouldn't IT go.

He tried to see all the prosecutors involved. He ended up suing me. He was saying that because he had to registered a sex offender, IT was hard for him to get dates and employment opportunities.

So now mary had to defend herself again against the man who sexually assaulted her. SHE had a borrows money from her parents to hire an attorney. What emotions are you feel .

like pretty much fear the whole time?

Fear.

yeah, fear that I know the litigation could go his way, and I have to pay him millions dollars.

All the while, nx cybersex, or Carrying out an online smear campaign on a men's rights website called a voice for man, posting pictures of her and her personal information. Eventually, the case was thrown out at Nicholas was ord to pay mary's legal fees. But amazingly, IT wasn't over well .

at that point in time. That's that's about when he he put out his second lawsuit against me. Another one, yes, I was in two thousand twelve. wow. My husband called him crazy on a blog he found out, and not soon after a litigation came.

Do you have to get a lawyer again? So did. And what happens this time?

He loses the case. And, uh, I get all my layer. My lawyer of fees paid back.

IT was then that he moved back to road island, and IT wasn't long before Nicholas was walking the halls of the statehouse again at twenty three years old. His new polished look and his new cruise de to change the Foster care system perhaps help disguise his criminal past.

There was this sort of dark side that no one really took a close look at because the other side was so bright and promising.

Reporter TM moonies closer look revealed that, well, Nicholas was impressing lawmakers. According to police reports, he was also terrorizing women. Nicholas has quite an alleged breed of assaults here in road islands.

He does. There are five or six women who alleged that he had assaulted them or threaten them, or kept them sort of kidnapped.

The incidents occurred between march of twenty ten and may of twenty eleven, one that involve someone close to Nicholas as his new wife, Nicholas had gotten married. And soon after, police responded to a domestic disturbance call at their apartment.

The police come in and they noticed that a next wife has some Operations on our face, redness on her neck, and they decide to arrest in. At that point, the two officers had to literally pick, kick up and Carry him out of the apartment and into the back seat of the cruiser when he gets into the cruise. Er, he's banging his head against the bars that are protecting the glass.

And he's also unhinged.

Ed, I think at that moment he was pretty unhinged. The police officers had to use pepper spray to get him to calm down.

Nicholas pleaded no contest to domestic abuse and received the couple later divorced. As for several of his other alleged victims, they told muni they dropped their complaints. Do you think they were just scared? Nicole?

Oh, absolutely. And some of them have told me that was the reason they chose not to pursue what any kind of criminal action against nick is because they were terrified of him.

He was free to leave the state IT would be years before he be labelled an american fugitives. And along the way there would be many more accusations of violence and other crimes. For now, his time and road island had apparently run its course.

Another reinvention was in the making. By twenty and fifteen, nickle las had left the state and had a new woman in his sites, and SHE had no idea what was coming. I didn't .

know how I could continue honestly to survive.

After his legal troubles in road island, Nicholas moved back to date ohio. And straight out of his playbook, he appeared to gaza. Local lawmakers here is speaking at a city council meeting.

I think the most important thing to remember .

here is that he even started a nonprofit to help revitalize downtown date.

The non profit was called the community progress institute. What was that about? Just to raise money, to kind of bring back the life, the puzzles back to date.

Kathy hacker dorn had a front row seat to the new Nicholas, who was now using the last name, allamerican. SHE met him in twenty fifteen. He was twenty eight. And to join her church, he immediately picked her interest.

And I thought, I said, perfect. A church guy. Yeah, this is pretty safe. You can't get any safer than this.

SHE found him to be kind and caring. Katherine n had just been through a traumatic experience with another man and was feeling vulnerable.

He seemed very sympathetic and um reassuring that I should feel safe and comfortable and he'll take care of me that make you feel good .

that didn't I think that's exactly .

what I was looking for.

They started meeting for coffee in dinners. He told her he was a harvard grad and shared his dreams about his nonprofit. SHE found herself falling for him.

There was a mystery that I couldn't put my finger on, which kind of drew me to .

him after dating for just a few months. To her surprise, he proposed out of the blue one night.

were sitting on the court watching some TV at his place. And he has turned to be and says.

we should get married.

I mean, where you shocked I was very shocked um I knew everything and me was saying, no, no, no, no, too soon something off about this um he doesn't even really know me. I don't know him .

Catherine told him he wasn't ready but Nicholas is persisted .

I started ticket annoyed and frustrated yeah. But at the same time, I always wanted to be away. I always wanted to be a mom. And I think that desire for those things outweighed the inss yeah, in common sense.

SHE finally gave in, and they married the very next day at city hall. But IT was far from the dream wedding sh'd always hoped for. And if a diamond is any indication of a man's commitment, Catherine thought perhaps the forty dollar cubic zirconium ring, hey, bother, was a sign that this marriage would be more fleeting than forever.

I was really bombed. I didn't make sense to me why he couldn't in gather afford something nice.

turned out that cheap ring was the least of her problems, Catherine says. The day after they were married, nick showed a dark side you'd never seen before.

I don't remember what the argument was about, but that was the very next day where he lays his hands on me for the first time he hits you, yeah.

yes, what do you do? Do you run? Do you say something to me? Do you call the police?

Um try to run. Try to call the police. But, you know, never be able to, because he would chase me down, tackle me, continue to restrain me, hurt me, however he could. And then he would always managed to get to my phone, then take IT, so I could never call for help. For help.

There was one incident at their house early in their marriage when he was able to call the police.

so they showed up and arrested at to him for domestic violence.

SHE says. One of the arresting officers told her something frightening, that her husband was a registered sex offender.

And he had warned me that he's dangerous, that he does daily rounds on the house, and that he's afraid next time he drives by I will be there are chained up in the basement or dead.

Catherine confronted nichols, and he told her I was all a big misunderstanding.

The girl was. He was crazy, making false accusations.

He became more and more controlling. Cathy said he wouldn't low her to have a job and forced to cook and clean and wear skirts with panny hose. Was he kind of looking for like a fifty housewife from you? Yes.

yeah. That's what I felt like to stay home all day, everyday, make, take care of the house, make sure he had food when he got home.

SHE said. Image was everything to nichole.

He always preferred like a bow tie. So I think he was looking for something very like sophisticated and strong enough to make him stand out.

He had a taste for the finer things, and caffeine says he was using her money to pay for at all.

I see him spending in on lavish, expensive meals cloth like first class flights um five star hotels.

Catherine says the spending started when Nicholas discovered SHE had a savings account, money her parents had put away for her from the time he was little. He asked her for money to fund his nonprofit called the community progress institute.

And he said that if I don't give her money, his business is going to collapse and we won't be other eat. And that i'll be my thought. So I gave him about ten thousand dollars, and that's time on on. He said, we need more.

SHE says the non profit accomplished nothing. And even more outrageous, SHE says he used IT to rip off school children and their families.

He sent out scholarship applications to all the date in schools for I think he was like a twenty or forty dollar application fee um I can and turf er chance for a scholarship which was gonna a like five thousand dollars but is no scholar .

and he discovered his business wasn't the only thing that was fake. So was his hover degree. He had only taken a course at the extension school so he lied.

He did.

He felt helpless as he watched him drain her life savings. How much did do you end up giving them?

Close to fifty five thousand.

The more he lived IT up, the more he lived in constant fear of his explosive temper. Sometimes when theyd argue, he says he would locker in the bathroom. How long would he leave you in there for?

The longest time was about two days. We always made at my fault. And after a while, I I think I started believing that, yeah.

he says the worst of IT would come when he refused him in the bedroom.

Even though even married, he would treat me.

Did you feel just like a prisoner?

Yeah, i'm sorry. I didn't know IT was possible to be settle alone. I didn't know how I could continue honestly, to survive.

Katherine knew he had to get out of the marriage, but he also knew nichole las wouldn't make IT easy. SHE needed proof of his abuse. This is your big moment. You've got your phone ready to go. You're going to secretly record him.

你看 啊。

what are you hiding from me? Give me your phone.

Give me your phone.

stop. Ignore ing me.

After Katherine heckendorn called the police on her husband, SHE wondered if IT was somehow her fault. SHE bailed him out and withdrew her complaints. SHE kept hoping things would get Better.

That was rough because each time then I got this false hope that the strangers gonna away and next gonna come back.

But he says he never did, and he wanted everyone to know the polished churchgoing man was all an act. So SHE decided to gather evidence to prove IT. You're going to a secretly record him to try to show the world the health that you've been .

living through.

yeah. Can you play some of that .

for us today? Yeah.

give me your phone. Give me your phone.

stop. Ignore ing me.

What are you doing?

I'm getting out of this native .

atmosphere. No, stopping. No, no, no.

I see you shaking right now. Did that take you back to that place?

Ah, very much so.

SHE immediately sent the recording to her father for safe keeping. IT would take two more months before he finally had the courage to walk out the door. SHE got on her knees and SHE prayed.

ord, let me know in a clear, distinct manner that I may act upon IT and immediately get out. go. So I crowed to my purse. SHE left .

everything else behind, even her beloved dogs. Cathy needed to move quickly.

so I get in my car and start driving. And through his GPS tracking, he discovers that and proceeds to pursue me.

He catches up to you, is chasing you. yeah.

And i'm terrified. yeah. I had run through a red lakes and kind of like head on kind of tea bone. Another car.

he's there. He sees this happen.

Yes, so as soon as he sees that I get a car crash, he leaves. He doesn't want to be around when the police show up.

Luckily, no one was hurt. The next day, he called a lawyer and filed for divorce. How was Nicholas handling all this?

Not good, not making threats, being I rate with each other. Meet my my parents by getting .

a divorce finalized. No surprise to Catherine would be a big chAllenge. Nichole wouldn't shop to court. And when the court officers tried to serve them, the divorce papers that appeared, he was playing tricks.

One of the officer said, i'm pretty sure that was him wearing a disguise. The had had downtown. He's kind of disappear. They couldn't find them.

They eventually tracked him down. The judge ordered Nicholas to hand over the dogs and leave their house so Catherine could get her stuff.

I opened the door, and there's a gun sitting on the sofa. A gun. Yeah, as if nick put IT there to say, I may not physically be here, but I will still make you miserable.

Catherine has, despite her claims that Nicholas as abused and sexually assaulted her, he was too afraid of him to take legal action. But SHE soon learned powerful, long enforcement agencies were investigating him for a different .

kind of crime. blessing. A month after I had laughter, the the treasury year, the FBI murban, I think I was both came knocking on my door one in any information I could give them on. Nick.

did they explain why they were there for fraud?

And they did not go in details just for fraud? Catherine found out later.

the feds were accusing nickle las of ripping off his ohio Foster parents of loving couple who had taken a man when he was about to age out of the system.

Catherine remembers them fondly. We attended the same church here in the ohio um there lovely people, great people. And I seemed you know so caring towards snake. And I was really happy for nick that he had them because he didn't seem like he had that family support biologically.

Nicholas Foster father told date line he reported the fraud d to local authorities. According to one police report, ten credit card accounts were opened, fragile ilene with an estimated two hundred thousand dollars in charges from everything Catherine heard and her own experience with Nicholas. As SHE wasn't surprised by those allegations.

I do believe he was starting to swindle them and take from them while we were still together.

As the FBI was looking into Nicholas for fraud, his name popped up somewhere else. Road island state police detective conor donal was doing a routine check on registered sex offenders.

Nx name came across my desk, just regular compliance check.

Nicholas was in the national system for that attack on mary in the college basement, something in Nicholas file caught the detective's attention.

Nick had A A warrant for his arrest of technical violation on a domestic violence charge. He went to his, his last known residence to ensure that he lived at that address. And we're going to arrest him on his outstanding warm.

Was he there? No, Nicholas had moved out, and because he was a registered sex offender, he was required to notify the state of a change of address. He hadn't. So a road island judge issued a new warrant for his arrest. Where he, do you have any idea?

No, he didn't. We put his his picture in his up around. Wanted.

did you get any leads once you put IT up there?

Take too long. And we got a phone call from neck.

from neck, yeah. Detective vegal says Nicholas found out he was on road island's most wanted list and was furious.

claimed he had moved out of the country, and then proceeded to left me about how I didn't know the general laws in the state of the ireland in that by moving out of out of this country, he didn't have to notify a change of address.

What do you think of his tone that IT seems like he knew .

Better than you? He was arrogant, egotistical. Your beneath him. He used big words to make themselves seem like.

you know what he was talking about? The detective was now determined. Define him.

He contacted the U. S. Marshals who began a search. They checked his passport and confirm Nicholas had left the country on a one way ticket.

He had, in fact, left on an outbound flight out of an airport ant new york to ireland.

Following that trail would lead us to a hotel in scotland. And that bizarre interview with the man who insists he's not. Nicholas, what do you say to people who say this is all an act?

哦, 一颗。

But low blow. That's the right low blow.

By the time Nicholas was thirty one years old, he'd been living a dull life. On the one hand, he was highly regarded by road island state legislators for trying to reform the Foster care system. On the other, he had two x wives with restraining orders against him, was a convicted sex offender and was wanted by road island state police.

In twenty eighteen. He'd left the country, but his past had followed him. While overseas, he hired attorney jeff pine to handle the failure to register as a sexy offender charge.

which is a serious case, obviously is a felony.

Nicolas had been right about the law, didn't half register since he'd left the country, so pine was able to get the case dismissed. But still he was careful when dealing with his client.

With Nicholas, you always have A A shade of doubt about what he's telling you.

Why did you have that .

shade of doubt just because he is who is? He's very obsessive, very persistent and manipulative. And so I had to be careful that I wasn't being manipulated.

Nicolas asked him to do one more thing. He told me, d gotten win that an FBI agent was looking for him, and he wanted to know why. So the attorney made a call to the agent.

I asked, what's the nature of the charge? And they told me I was a significant credit card for odd most appropriation of funds, obtaining money on the false pretense is that kind of thing?

IT was the case involving Nicholas as Foster parents.

The agent did confirm that was a warrant for him.

a federal warrant. yeah. But Nicholas, as was not about to turn himself in. This has become a game of cat mouse between the alleged con man and federal law.

Forceful yeah, they're going to have to expand a lot of resources and man hours to bring him to justice.

And Nicholas had no idea yet another law for cement agency was joining the chase.

Here is someone that needs be put on trial .

for rape in utah. A county attorney named David levit was looking into old rape cases that had never been investigated.

We had sexual sault kids that had been sitting on police shelves for years.

IT infuriated him that women had filed complaints, subjected themselves to rape exams, but police never followed up when he took off. As in twenty eighteen, love IT vote to change that.

So we engaged in a partnership between the united states department of justice and the state of utah to test all of these old great kids.

Did you start getting hits?

We got a hit. And that hit was a hit for a registered sex offenders in the state of ohio.

That sex offender was none other than Nicholas rossy. His DNA was in the system from that assault on fellow college student mary gribble ski. Nicholas had been convicted of attacking her a decade earlier. That was the same year Nicholas allegedly attacked the woman in utah, but her case was never investigated.

In two thousand eight, the victim in this case said that he had been raped, and SHE voluntarily went through the rape exam, and the police were called. The case died at the police station, was never sent to the county attorney's office.

So eleven years later, in two thousand nineteen, an investigator reached out to the woman. Her story was erly familiar. SHE said, SHE met Nicholas rossy on my space.

and that two weeks later they met in person and they began a sexual relationship that lasted for a brief period of time. At the same time, nickel rossy was taking money from her with the promise that he would pay back and and never did so.

SHE said he went over to his apartment. He wanted her money back and he wanted to .

end the relationship. He shut the door and began to just kind of put pressure on her to have sexy. He took her close off and raped David love.

IT had heard enough. He charged Nicholas with rape. Now his investigators had to find them, but arresting Nicholas rossy wouldn't be so easy. No.

wouldn't easy at all.

This brings us back to the question we asked earlier. Why would Nicholas fake is death? Well, with law enforcement from utah road island and the FBI chasing him, dying would be a perfect way out.

And remember his press really saying he was dying of cancer. A lot of people bought IT, but not everyone. That press release landed on reporter tom moonies desk back then. He didn't know much about nichole las.

And the pressure lease indicated, well, this is a new story that we should be writing about.

IT described Nicholas as a local hero for his work on Foster care reform. Moni wasn't inclined to cover the story then. His phone IT was Nicholas, as he was .

very polite, uh, very respectful, told me why he thought this was news worthy so, okay, well, let me think about IT.

Tom says he came up with an idea and brought him to his editor.

I said, why don't I go with nick alleva into one of his chemo treatments? Um capture the scene the Young man who is ill uh, maybe it's a human interest story of a guy who wants a once point of time indeed, was well known .

but Nicholas, who had so badly wanted his story covered, was suddenly evasive you said.

no, you can talk to me. You can come with me. I'm not in road island.

nice. Oh, well, where are you? And t do want to tell me where he was. So i'm thinking, that is awful, strange. And at that point, I really just did not want to do this story.

but other news outlets did. And nicolas appear to spend his remaining days hanging up blue ends. I don't see him for a while, but he would call me representative rayman horses.

Nicholas always claim to be in a different country, is in france. And then over something, I get another call that he's in russia. And the phones crackling in everything to that effect. How sad were you for him when he .

tells .

you that he, you understand that's a Nicholas up. You're going to you're make IT through this no, Nicholas is appear to be calling everyone he knew. And road island, including former representative brian cogan.

By then, kogan had learned about Nicholas is criminal. Past law enforcement had reached out looking for Nicholas and told cogan he was a future ative. But Nicholas didn't know that.

And his voice was going to ask peer and a aspects. And he's like rap, i'm dying, i'm dying. I'm dying, and this is probably last time i'm talking.

I just want to call and tell you I love you and I appreciate you trying to add me and I feel like and but I was getting mad, and I got frustrated at the very last time I talked to my son, listen, your cock a roach. I said, cocker votes. Don't die.

I said, you are not dying. Your A, A as you. You a predator.

Of course, brian was right. Nicholas wasn't dying. And now laender cement was catching up to him. He was running out of options. But in true Nicholas fashion he came up with a ducey you're being told he is going under the name Arthur night. How shocked for you by that.

It's certainly isn't the case .

that you see every day .

that is a crazy IT is.

IT was twenty twenty, and the news was all over road island that Nicholas Oliver, ta and was dead at the age of thirty two. Before his death, Nicholas, at campaign for journalists and lawmakers to pay tribute to him and I had .

worked solution, expressing condolences in the passing of ico celebrity um .

but not with everyone some news .

outlets did write that story but of course the providence .

journal didn't run IT none there's the story was spreading when detective conor donal heard of Nicholas untimely death his bs rate or went off remember he'd been searching for Nicholas two years earlier on the outstanding warrant for failure to register as a sex offender. He immediately started making calls.

We made numerous attempts through interpol, numerous countries for any proof death or where native nothing came back o Donald .

was on to something. He was contacted by a utah investigator who told him not only was Nicholas alive, he was also wanted by the friends.

Through speaking with that investigator, I learned that nick was being sobbed by the FBI for fraud.

The alleged credit card fraud involving Nicholas former Foster parents as detective of Donald continue to poke around. He learned that Nicholas wifi was making arrangements for a memorial service that was when he contacted father healy and told a nichole las was .

actually alive that he's a fugitive wanted on financial and violent crimes.

Detective or Donald asked father healy to cancel the service, but keep the reason a secret.

I said, OK, i'll come up with some convenient excuse.

which I did. You had to be a little untruthful to her, correct?

I had to go to confession after all that. Yes.

he said, when the wiz, the woman claiming to be a widow, heard the mass was off SHE did not take IT.

Well, I A lot of emails that were kind of full of rage, upset and anger at me IT was clear with somebody was very angry.

You were bamboo old father.

in a sense, yes, it's the first time in my life for my priest's that somebody has tried to have a funeral for somebody who's not dead.

Turns out father hili was one of many priests communicating with Lewis about a memorial mouse for Nicholas. Detective or Donald had been tracking all of them. So you had managed to shut them all down.

Yes, wasn't easy, but yes.

Meanwhile, the FBI was apparently reaching out to anyone who might know Nicholas sis. whereabouts. Brian cogan was in his truck when .

his phone ring. He says, FBI, utah. I was rattled.

I pulled over the parka and he said, this is special agent songs of utah FBI. He says, you know, as Olivera eas. Rose, I said, you actually know very well. He goes, when we're looking for, do you know where he is?

I said, what you know, he died and he said, ah, he's not then and I sent them all the emails that I had, all the phone numbers, the pitches before hang up. I said, you know, agent, you are the FBI. How come U. K. catchum. The agents that .

they had been trying to locate Nicholas as through the internet? With no .

luck here we would track him through an email to his I P. Address.

but he says the agent told him, Nicholas, the computer was sent them in circles, never in the location that match the I. P. address.

He says, let me tell you, this kid is so good, one of the best of our seen.

but as good as Nicholas as was a dodging them. His time on the lam was running out. The enforcement finally found a way to track him down. The authorities were closing in on nick.

They were, I think IT was just a matter of when they were going to grab him.

In december twenty twenty one, about two years after Nicholas supposedly died, they finally caught a break. The enforcement sources say nicolas, the computer genius, had made a mistake. He unknowingly gave up his overseas address while online. The trail LED authorities to the intensive care unit at this glass go hospital if they had the right man of all things. IT was a severe case of covet that now had him trapped.

and that resulted in the Scottish h authorities arresting him.

That is a crazy trust. IT is .

fortunate.

Inner pool shared mug shots, photos of his tattoos and fingerprints with local police so they could make an on the spot ID.

When the skies authorities looked at him in a hospital room in scotland, they were satisfied that Nicholas rossi was, in fact, the same person that is wanted in the state, utah.

but not so fast. The man in the hospital insisted he was not nichols. He said his name was author night, a law biting british business man.

I am not a fugitive, nor am I gon who .

on earth with author night.

Author night was determined to prove he was not american future of Nicholas rossy. He insisted he was just a .

simple english jumpt IT could be anyone.

While out on bail, Arthur organized his zone, preston, from his flat in. He used a wheelchair and wear an oxygen mask, he said, because of the effects of covet. Are you that man? Are you micros?

I can variable ably say that I have not ever once than any of the acts as you just discounted.

We came to scotland to get to the bottom of this mystery. Was all the night the victim of a colossal case of mistake and identity? Or was he trying to pull off his biggest kn yet? We caught up with investigative reporter jane max ori.

I've been a journalist over thirty years, and I have never met a man like him for her auditable .

podcast called I am not Nicholas. He got up close in personnel with Arthur when he and his wife maranda invited her over for dinner. What is IT like walking into their flat?

It's a fairly small flat. I was welcomed very, very warmly by maranda artha there in a wheelchair. What is the mask and oxygen? Time and everything? But he's dressed up to the lines.

Are you the whole time looking at him, her scanning the room.

for I was just in growth by him. Rai, because, I mean, everybody's talking about this man here. I am as close as I am nice to, you know, we've such a nice guy. I thought, how can he potentially be this? This Nicholas is rossy that left to be me.

Rapist jane knew there was one short way to find out. After dining on Manda s champagne chicken dinner, SHE asked artha to roll up his sleeves to see if he had the same tattoo as Nicholas .

rossi and IT was after, had been there at least couple of hours and straight away. He agreed. So I said, would you pull back your slaves?

Not only that, he pulled up mug shots that had nichols's rosse's tattled arms on his big screen. T. V. He was clearly prepared for James question, is your heart kind of just pounding, you know, as you're waiting for this yeah moment.

I felt like I was I was just felt like IT was slow more.

He rolled up his left sleeve. As far as as elbow, SHE couldn't believe what he was seeing or not seeing. I had my .

glass is on as well. I mean, I was completely .

in all of this left forum that upon .

the screen was like completely tattoo de annoy with in front of me, had no tatoes and no scarring whatsoever of tattoo removal.

SHE even checked to make sure hadn't covered them with makeup.

IT was quite a moment. So I thought this man in front of me was our first night, and the authorities had made a mistake. And I was like, good god.

because he's so that was just the beginning of James reporting. There was so much more to uncover. This was a roller coasters for you.

That was the story's stranger than fiction. But that's what's great about IT.

IT was a roller coaster for us, too. After yet another press conference, author, along with his wife, maranda, spoke to us remotely. I know you have a lot to say, which is great.

I want to be as honest and you as visible .

is very important that our story is heard.

Arthur told .

us he began life as an orphans .

in ireland. I so fast, he said. He later moved .

to london and through grit and determination, worked his way up the corporate latter and communications.

We had a very good run as a public relations consulting.

maranta said. They met at a london art museum in twenty eleven.

We just struck up a conversation, you know, exchanged kind of contact detail, but I was not, you know, with good things .

at the day.

They said they were friends at first. He was in a relationship and busy with her career.

So previously I was an executive and i've worked in account management.

But several years later, they said they met, up began, romance blossomed.

We fall in love. We love each of a very much deeper in love.

And in february of twenty twenty, the same month that Nicholas live tian supposedly died, Arthur Manda got .

married nichols's or allibert a and whatever had died, we were on our honeymoon.

Less than two years later, their world fell apart. IT was december of twenty twenty one when artha was hospital ized with covered rinda said, a nurse told you probably wouldn't .

make IT and I was literally in tears. I was in shock, and the world just cave in in for me.

He says Arthur was in a medically induced coma and put on a ventilator. After three months, though, he woke up. So Arthur makes IT through this, but your whole world has been turned up side down.

I was with him in his room, and two police constables came into the room, and I looked up and I thought they had walked into the wrong room. Would they tell you they said that I would be sensible for me to actually leave the room because of what was going to be said? And arr said, no, you know, my my wife knows everything. There's no secrets between us sets.

Can you also tell us what happened in that room and and why they told you they were there?

I just remember words of two thousand and and eight, utah rape, amErica and IT all didn't make sense.

SHE heard police calling Arthur Nicholas rossy. They said that international law enforcement agencies were trying to bring him back to the united states.

I made IT clear. I not make clear where as they, but people to use, to believe what they want.

where you read your rights, where you hand off.

I was told I was under arrest for rape in utah, and I thought I was told once he left the hospital.

he faced a judge in an extradition hearing where he proclaimed he was not nichols rossy. So now the judge would have to rule first on his identity before deciding if he should be extradited.

Are you losing confident?

One went pie with hearing after hearing, but no ruling from the judge. The feel to.

can you possibly claim not to be nicless .

roy or or niclas? He made front page news a lot.

We were once a Normal family, but thanks to the media, our lives have been in interrupted and we'd like previously. And I would like to go back to being a Normal husband, but I I can't because I can't believe I can't work. And people say that that let me try to stand up, let me try to set up exactly, exactly. So when .

author fell back into his chair, IT was hard not to wonder.

was at all, and act, this is what people do to me. They call, say, this is.

it's the same guy. It's definitely the same. Carnes was taken on various alliances .

as the court weigh the evidence. In author's identity case, another story emerged. We track down this woman who had a whole new .

name for Arthur Timothy artha Nicholas as nightgown.

and a whole new story.

He had fake social media counts where he was tweet about me. That's when I knew one hundred percent. He was a corner is.

Reporters in the U. S. And scotland continued to chase the author. Night story was, here wasn't in american fugitive that LED us and other journalists to canada and a TV personality named not seek a anti pass who had done business with them all of us.

Sudden, I started getting emails of facebook messages. Instagram messages are linked, and messages .

for me included.

yeah, from you too. And I was in shock. And actually I was, I was kind of embarrass that I went through .

that in twenty. Navi ka was looking for help marketing her vegan cheese company called navi ka s garden wow. And promoting the fourth season of her any television show plant based by nuff seeker SHE scan through resumes on up work, an online marketplace for freeLancers, and found a man named Nicholas Brown, but his full name was Timothy r.

thr. Nicholas. As nightgown SHE .

says he was highly raided on the site. Tell us about his resume.

What was on IT harvard graduate experience with pr marketing, everything I was looking for. He had IT on there. And he was an international lawyer, apparently. Kind of thought he was the whole package, and I spoke to him and I hired him the same day.

What kind of accent as they have?

He was british, but that seemed like sometimes he may be tried to through in on some irish phrases since .

he told her he was living with his wife and ireland, that made sense. 那 sika agreed to pay a fee around seven thousand dollars a month。 He was based in montreal, all so they never met in person.

Every time I would tell him, niclas, where's the work? Show me what you've done so far. He would either come up with an excuse or he would like send me a picture of of something like um his dog .

but I quickly became obvious the man SHE hire from up work was more like no work. SHE says he always had an excuse for why nothing was getting done.

So one time he was in hospital, and then another month his wife was in the hospital. I think he had an, then his dog was in the hospital.

At one point, he pitched an idea about creating a new company with net seeker he and his wife Manda would be on the board.

So I asked him. I said, I used trying to take overall my companies. What's happening here? No, no, no, no. I I just want to oversee what's happening.

So SHE agreed, but he never gave them access to her bank accounts or credit cards. SHE did, however, give him a copy of her passport. He said he needed IT for the paperwork.

At first I was going along with that because I said, OK, i'm going to see what he does, see if he'll actually start working.

But again, nothing. So after paying him nearly thirty thousand dollars over four months with no work completed, now seeker cut them off.

I terminated his access to my website to my uh his emails and his wife emails. You didn't give him any warning. That's no warning because I realized that that at this point um that there's something off about this guy I terminate any access he had to anything and then I was like a few minutes later and he texted me, what's going on marine and I can get on to our emails and he didn't take this well. He got very aggressive start sending lot of messages um phoning um I wasn't answering my phone.

When SHE didn't respond, SHE says he sent threatning tax about a contract that he says never existed. If SHE didn't pay him about forty thousand dollars or a reasonable counteroffer, he would ruin her reputation. He had created a fraud alert website using her passport photo like a mug shot, and was planning to tell the world her company was a shame. In this text, he says, you have twenty four hours to propose a settlement or legal and pr hell will be unleashed against you and seek A S garden plant based by nazca, more like plant faced.

I was very, very nervous because I didn't know how this would affect my my brand that I was just launch. I just recently launched at the time and my family and you know, is how crazy is he is gonna go to my kids.

The threats, tax kept coming and coming. Sika didn't give into his scare tactics and told him he was officially .

fired as soon as I told him he's terminated. That's when everything went live.

All of his smear tactics.

Yes, he had fake social media counts where he was tweet about me that my vegan chooses fake. That's not really vegan. I mean, that's when I knew one hundred percent he was a Carriers.

So I I basically took action um I started calling the police in every country. I filed all those fraud reports. I hired a private investigator and doublin to track him down.

but the private investigator found nothing two years later. Now sika found out why that's when the media started calling her. SHE learned the man she's been dealing with wasn't in ireland, and he wasn't Nicholas Brown. The named SHE knew him by he was living in scotland, claiming to be author night.

He's finally been arrested.

Then SHE got another call, is that utah FBI on her color? ID?

They tell me, tell me what you got night and i'll tell you what I have. And we swapped, you know, information.

SHE told them he would help. Anyway, he could, how badly do you want to bring this man down?

I want him behind bars big time, because not only what he's done to me, but what he's done to so many people.

But justice was a long way off. The Scottish court still had not decided if artha night was nicolas rossy. Dateline had a lot more questions for him.

Did you sexually assault anyone? Did you kids up anyone? Did you defraud anyone?

More than four months had passed since Arthur nights arrest in a Scottish hospital. He was still out on bail, waiting for a judge to decide if he was telling the truth about his identity. He called another press conference, this time to introduce a new defense attorney, crag Johnson, who'd flown all the way from utah to scotland. Do you believe Arthur is Arthur night and that he is innocent of all the allegations that are being leveled against him?

I do, and I don't take that statement lightly again. I wouldn't found out here twenty four hours ago for this purpose to stand up for me if I didn't.

Johnson says artha reached out to him, probably not by coincidence, since Johnson once worked for David love IT. Johnson told us he left the prosecutors office after a dispute with love IT, but says that had nothing to do with him taking on earth or night as a client. Still, he was quick to criticize his former boss.

He has been such a rushed, judged by mr. Levit and office coordinating with other authorities. That is our concern.

Johnson says. David leven crossed the line, speaking so openly about the allegations of rape and fake identity against his client.

It's very concerning to me when the head long enforcement in you talk counting my former boss, David levit has been making a lot of interviews and statements about my client, which Frankly poisons in the jury pool.

Love IT disagrees, saying he's been careful not to discuss specifics of the case. We press Johnson on why he was so sure all the night was telling the truth about his identity because he shown you his face. Yes, i've seen his face without his mask. He said he'd also seen what Nicholas rossy look like. And you believe, when you see his face, that that is not the same man.

I don't believe it's the same man and .

what I am trying to explain.

But when I spoke with Arthur and asked to have a look, would you take your mask off for one second .

just to show us your face when I get to my best? He is.

But can you just show us now?

And I toxic, I am, and telling you, yes, I will, but I must. I do that now?

He never took IT off, and he didn't have answers to a lot of our questions either. Did you say you were adopted?

I, yes.

At what age? Not certain.

He was also evasive when we .

asked him if we can see his birth certificate, as i'm just looking for a ways that you can back up some of your what you're saying just just to put people's .

minds at which minds for one.

the FBI, the FBI is investigating you. You're being looked at for kidnapping, sexual assault, fraud in multiple states.

incorrect. David levitt said those things. The FBI have said nothing.

The FBI is investigating you though, yes, they're looking into you and how you might fit into all of this or not.

The FBI .

rarely comments on active investigations, but remember several people we interview told us the FBI contacted and question them, including nv .

seeker N T pass. When we asked Arthur .

about nazca, he seemed rattled and denied her claims that he stole from her, failed to do any work. Now sea says that you scammed her out of .

tens of thousands of dollars a plane for work. Ah that was performed. I did not scan a lot of money.

A says that you are a conomo.

yeah. And so he feels that way. But her text messages here say the opposite. He called his tools.

What do you say to to someone who believes that that you are nick celebrity and you.

I not make this, I am really, and I do not know how to make this what do you say to people .

who say these are cropped tears he's putting on a show? This is all an act.

Do you .

know .

that's .

a big, that's the right low blow. So do you think I can idea.

believe that his wife maranta says he's one hundred percent telling the truth. If he was a serial rapist, he would .

know my husband has never, ever done anything which has hurt me. You know he hasn't. You assaulted me.

I do know the truth. I know he's innocent. I know he's not a rapist. One hundred percent.

Where does this go from here for Arthur, for the both of you, what's next?

I believe that, you know, we will fight this together, and there will be a time where we will crack open a bottle of champagne, and we will go back to our Normal lives as a Normal couple with our beautiful dogs, and restart our lives.

But first, he has to clear his name, and he has a lot to answer for. Since his arrest, at least three more women have come forward with accusations of sexual assault, including a woman in the U. K.

Did you sexually assault anyone? Did you kids up anyone? Did you defraud anyone?

what? No, no, no and no, he says this whole misunderstanding .

is the handy work of David love IT. David of IT .

is a cord man. David bit is a monster.

Sometimes life is strange fiction.

The dispute with a prosecutor was about to heat up and get very personal. You've never been attacked like this to this level.

No nicos, given that he he took IT to a new level.

The fuel would take us to the Scottish castle and we'd end up in the Scottish courthouse. We're a judge would finally make a ruling and determine who this man really is.

Prosecutor David levit had a full plate in june of twenty twenty two. Not only was he working to extract an american future, he was also running for reelection. And just days before the polls opened, he says his campaign was sabotaged. Ged by the man calling himself after .

the night he accused my wife and I have being human traffickers, of being cannabis, of being murderers.

Arthur posted this on his website. Breaking news, David levit is confirmed to be head of a criminal utah court. This goes deep. This is like a thriller. We didn't .

think I was too thrilling for us.

love. IT had had enough and called his own press .

conference that this all occurs less than one week. Before ballots draw. In an election which I am participate. Causes me tremendous concern.

Arthur cited the utah county share of office as the source of his allegations. The sheriff was a vocal critic of labels and backed his opponent in the prosecutor's race. The sheriff denied that he had been Arthur source. Regardless, this story was out there. How do you defend yourself against allegations like that when someone is this putting them out there there like the fact there's .

no way to defend yourself in this culture?

Levit lost his election and believes Nicholas rossy was partly to blame.

He did cost me my job.

Although levit was out of office, the case against artha night slash Nicholas rossy kept going and continue to grab headlines. The next big story happened when author was back in the hospital allegedly dodging a court appearance. He assaulted a doctor and a nurse.

yeah. And they said at that point, he actually got up off the carney that he was on and came at them, which raise some questions about his physical capacity.

Several articles quoted the female doctor who said he was inches from our faces. We were utterly terrified. We thought he was coming to harm us. Artha had flown into a rage when he was told he would be discharged.

and that was a good reason at that point to restrict his bail.

Our other night was sent to jail, and after a quick trial, he was convicted of assault. But his biggest day in court yet was right around the corner. Almost a year after he was first arrested, a judge was about to rule on author's identity.

Was the Arthur night british businessman or Nicholas rossy american fugitive? IT was a whole reporter. Jane max sorley was in the courtroom.

The advocate deputy, he was asking him the questions. He asked him about the tattoos.

The Scottish prosecutor presented evidence that the tattoos on authors' upper arms were identical to Nicholas roses. How did Arthur explain the tatoes?

But he said in in court that's the tattoos were put on him when he was in a coma in the hospital in.

that's right, he told the judge they were inked on his arms while he was unconscious. The advocate .

deputy was just like about three metres away and he turned round and his face was like IT was like an emotion with a big open mouth. IT was like, he couldn't believe what he had heard.

and neither could all of us. This was a job dropped of all the craziness of the story. This was the just think that had happened.

yeah. In the old police photos, Nicholas rossi had tattoos on his entire left. ARM remember jed and see the upper part of his arms. When he interviewed him, only his four ARM and IT was free of tattoos. Shortly after that visit, SHE learned why .

one of his x wives had said that when they were together in twenty fifteen, that he was going through the process of getting his tattoos removed.

And what about a much more traditional way of making an I D fingerprints? Those were a match too. But Arthur had an explanation. He said they were taken by a hospital worker without his knowledge and sent to utah to David love IT so love IT could claim they were roses.

I mean, IT was was just a some moment.

you know, the judge wasn't buying any of IT and announced his decision. I am ultimately satisfied on the bounds of probabilities by the events of fingerprint, photographic and tattoo. Evans, the mr.

Night is indeed necklace rossy finally, never seeker. Catherine mary heard the words they've been waiting for, but they, of course, never had any doubt he was the man who they say had victimized them. Cathy says they formed an unofficial support group. Do you think that you will all eventually come together to bring him down?

I feel like we already have now.

The court could move on to an extradition hearing. As for David levit, even though his life was turned upside down by the conman, the former prosecutor has no regrets about going after, and now he has something else to occupy his time. What a David leva do after leaving office, he bought this fixer up her Scottish castle called knocked DIY.

And IT just happens to be fifty miles from where Nicholas rossi was caught. Some people here in scotland are calling this castle your F, U. castle. Did you know that? I don't know that.

I had a choice to make. The choice was simple, do I save my political career, or do I do my job and and take the man down?

And what about Nicholas current wife, Manda, how to shift in at all of this? Jane think he knows. While reporting for her podcast, SHE uncovered the recording of Lewis, the woman who claimed to be Nicholas widow. As soon as he had play, basically the .

Price was explained that he had done on monday.

IT was just an automatic. Oh my god, that's maranda. I mean, I know my british accents.

no doubt in your mind.

No diet, what so ever.

So you think rand is in on this?

Oh yeah, she's in on IT up to her neck. Mandara hasn't been .

charged with anything, and he continues to stand by her man. SHE was a lot less chatter than during our interview, and we caught up with her at one of Nicholas extradition hearings in edinburgh. I do anything to say the day about the hearing.

Nicholas is next hearing is scheduled for june, a year and a half after his first arrest. Defense attorney paul dunn says the drawn out process is not unusual in scotland, and he should know there are on a lot of extradition lawyers in scotland. Arthur even tried to hire him, but he passed.

He's going to be an exacting and demanding client. He was going to take more time than I had, and dunn says the process is going to take a lot more time, possibly even years, because scotland has a strict human rights checklist for prisons and the us. Doesn't always CoOperate.

We don't know whether their presence conform with the european convention on human rights, on size, on ventilation, on just general welfare. Uta will have to satisfy scotland's conditions before the judge will extra. I, Nicholas, for now, the former prosecutor and Nicholas victims are relieved he's behind bars.

They don't care where, they just hope he will stay locked up for a very long time. What do you want to get across? What's the most important part of all of this?

I want IT the courts to know that if he ever gets out, he will do IT again. He will find more victims. That is his way of life. That's all he knows, and it's not okay for a person like that to be free.
