Paul was a little clown, always the doctor in the house. Since he was little, he would just do silly things. He was just one of those kids that he was really hyper. And but he had a good heart.

He says Maggie had a great sense of humor and neck for southern traditions.

SHE was just funny SHE had this southern bell, you know, type thing also SHE knew when to SHE always wanted everything. Perfect attention to detail. I learned a lot from her.

David owen was hearing more about Maggie paul now, too. He examined in the crime scene what had apparently happened to to Maggie pull.

Both were shot in the head and that they were faced down.

IT all live, he realized there were already problems at the crime scene with people walking in and out.

I've got crime sy experience have been an investigation since two thousand. Two, it's inevitable every time you won to a crime scene, you're bringing something in and or you're taken something out.

The fact that that you were not the first agency on the scene, did that put you at a disadvantage .

yes. Why had I known that many people were that close to the scene? I would have push him back further, because you don't know what you don't know. You don't know what you have.

His mom was killed with what appeared to be an assault rifle, but agent owen learned that no weapons were found near paul or magic, which met there was a killer or killers on the loose. But then alex said something that seemed like a big deal.

What comes to my man is my son paul was in a boat, rick, couple years ago.

Agent oin remembred that case. Well, the nights motorboat crash on nearby archers quake IT happened in february twenty nineteen. Paul murdoch and five of his friends had taken alex boat out, but on the way home, they crashed into a bridge.

Several passengers were hurt, and nineteen old mile beach was thrown from the boat. SHE was found dead. Almost a week later.

Paul was accused of driving drunk, causing the crash. His blood alcohol level was twice the legal limit. Murdoch family housekeeper blank up remembers the time after that crash vividly was the mood any different .

now IT was a little suber at times you know IT was you could see IT but they try to keep basically you know the spirits up I know Maggie struggle with IT um because that's her baby .

boy in April twenty nineteen, paul was invited on three counter boating under the influence, causing death and great bottling injury. He faced a maximum of fifty five years in prison. He pleaded not guilty, blanka says. The negative publicity and tiny hammonton made Maggie feel alienated.

I think that's where he was having a hard time with people that he did were friends, you know, good friends, all of a sudden morant there.

That gave me people to go out and try to interview people involved in the boat case, and just started try to brainstorm of what happened, what could have happened, who could have done this?

Meanwhile, at the house, alex friends and law partners helped other slight gents gather and inventory more than a dozen family guns to see if any were missing on the property shooting range. Investigators sifted through spin shelves to see if any of those match the ones at the murder ship.

In, scientists at the state lab started to analyze materials, found that the crime scene as they came in by now, senior special agent ryan Kelly had joined the team. He spent ten years as a detective and trusted before coming to sled in two and twelve, his job, locate some of the remaining survivors of that fatal boat crash. Why was making contacts with the picture on the the boat a priority early on?

But that didn't mean the scrutton of the boat, SHE was over far from IT. Did you know when the double murder happened that I was going to reopen this room, that he was going to bring renewed attention to the boat accident?

I mean, shortly after the shot wore off, yeah. I mean, what was coming?

and they didn't take a law. The ripples of that boat crash had reached every member of the murdoch family. Never before seen video. Investigators would peel back the complicated layers of a family that was now at the center of a tragedy.

Yeah, there's still marry. They are still living together for that. They don't have any problems.

The murdoch family was very well known in the low country, of course, but not much beyond then magian paul or murder. And the murdoch's name was being broadcast.

Three days after a magan, paul were gun down. Investigators simultaneously, alex murdoch's brothers john in Randy Alice called them right after he called nine one one. These interviews are airing here for the first time.

I found him that we just hope crated. And and then when we stop, I can see see a White sheet. And you mean I knew who I was under sheet were when a lot, but. I think you could be possible that could be little.

The brothers seem to still be in shop, of course, just jumped out IT this rand two.

We was very they were john Marvin told the investigators he had a close relationship with paul and the employment at his equipment rental business that summer.

Did you ever witness any any behavior .

that was bad behavior? No, no, no, no. That he's he.

He was an asset. He was a joy. I mean, customers love talk and doing.

but both brothers acknowledge pause role in the boat accident.

Paul made some bad decisions one night and leave LED to a grave set of circumstances. He put his friends in a bad, bad situation.

Still, they were quick .

You get that lose. Does your mind go to thinking about how that could have happened?

Yes, and just didn't understand how really comprehend. The investigator asked if his brother paul had any enemies.

You have any, any thought about anybody? No, sir.

I know people. I know people dislike them due to the accident, but I couldn't single out any that would do what do. But busters said he thought his brother was the likely target of the attack. Do you, after your brother and your mom happened to be down there, I would say, if I had to have to take, that's probably what I would be. I think that someone was probably trying to kill my brother, that my mom was probably just there.

Think that was.

yes, no. Of course, police had had already ruled out those involved with the boat crash, but alex murdoch was about to suggest another possible connection between the boat crash and the murders.

I'm a defender in a civil case involved .

in that would lead investigators to secrets. Secrets I IT kept not only from them, but from his wife. Can you set at one point that Maggie told you Alice didn't tell me everything? Any idea what he was talking about?

Alex murdoch had lost half his family, and for all practical purposes, his home he couldn't bear to spend another night at mol. So he asked the family housekeeper, er blank a to stay there. Are you afraid to stay there?

Remember that evening everybody had left, I had already left into the attorney, stayed behind because I don't wanna leave me in the house .

Of course, investigators, we're still combing the property, searching for suspects, looking for evidence, conducting interviews and starting the major process of gathering digital evidence they'd hoped would establish a timely of the murdoch ch family's movements. That faithful night, what did you have from that night to go on?

We had polls phone that night. But of course, that takes a process to get into that film the next day that, say, within twelve hours, we found maggy phone on the roadside.

Meanwhile, agent owen climbed back in the car for a second, interviewed alex murdoch at the exact same time his brothers and son were being interviewed by other agents. What was the goal of the second interview here in in the car?

Try to get more information. I got very limited information that night of the homicides. We had time to let the death of his wife and son start the thinking. So a little more clear picture in his mind.

I left my moms and I went back home. I got to the house when, and sad, nobody was there. I got in the car. I went back into canals.

That's where he said he found them shot to death. He downed none, one one. Just after ten P.

M. Ali was emotional again as he spoke about finding his wife and size. But then he brought up something that seemed like IT could be a big clue. Fender.

In the wake of that twenty nine boat accident that killed their daughter, Melody beaches family had file a wrongful death suit against alex and others.
