The funny thing about diving into your past is you don't know how much weight you're going to have to shed before you can come up for air. So that's when I reached out to the girl. I think for the two of us, it's not just our story. Our stories are kind of intertwined. There have been so many times in my life where I have wondered if I have walked past him on the street, if I would recognize him now.

I don't think of myself as being someone that phrases. I think of myself as being someone that would fight. It never felt right to me. I never told anybody. I didn't tell my sister. The good no longer outweighs the bad, and I need you out of my life. Later on in life, I would actually question, too, like, was she also abused? It was a very dark time for me in that household.

For the first time in my life, there was no way for me to even try to have control. And so I just kind of let it go. It's not something that ends. You probably think this story is about you. I'm Brittany Yard. And as some of my stories start, it was being introduced to a man.
