Paul wrote to encourage and love the Thessalonian church, addressing their struggles and false teachings, and to clarify the truth about Jesus' return.
They received the gospel wholeheartedly, spread the word to others, and turned from their idols to worship the true God.
Paul described them as his crown of boasting before God, showing his pride in what God had done through them.
God's will is for believers to abstain from sexual immorality, control their bodies in holiness and honor, and not engage in lustful passions like the Gentiles.
Sanctification means to be made clean, a lifelong process where God works in believers to make them more like Christ, distinct from justification which is a one-time event.
False teachers were spreading the idea that Jesus had already returned and that believers had been abandoned by Him.
Paul thanks God for the growth of their faith and love, crediting God as the initiator and sustainer of their spiritual growth.
In 2024, an extra day will be added to the reading plan, with a special episode on February 29th to either catch up or explore a favorite book in the New Testament.
