You know, it's like, it's like, what's he going to say today? Yeah. What's the joke he's going to throw out today? But it's like a little character in your TV show. How was your weekend? Weekend was lovely. Home. We got home from Buffalo on Friday.

And what did I do? We came home, went out to dinner. I went out to Long Island on Saturday, then back into the city on Sunday, went to see Wicked. We'll talk about it. Yeah, we got designated time to talk about Wicked. I have been changed for good, like truly. And yeah, I mean, we had a great time in Buffalo. Awesome time. So much fun on our trip. We ate breakfast.

So many wings. I think I'm like, not done. I love wings. I'll keep eating wings. But I don't think anything will ever compare to those Cajun honey butter barbecues that we had. I really think those were the best wings I've ever had in my life.

I totally agree. And I don't think we'll have anything better. And I truly think when I go to the gym later, the entire place is going to smell like wings, popcorn and bunch of crunch. Like that is the kind of weekend I've had. And I can just like it's it's literally seeping out of my pores at this moment.

And it's the amount that we inhaled while we were in Buffalo and this weekend. We went back to Barbell twice. And the first time we were there, we finished our meal and put it in another order because of how much we fucking love these wings. We didn't order enough the first time. No, we didn't. We underestimated how many wings we needed. And we needed another round. We did. I clocked an absurd number of wings at Barbell. So many wings. Yes.

But man, was it worth it? So worth it. It was incredible. And let me tell you, the people of Buffalo, I couldn't love you more. Seriously, such a warm welcome. I fucking love it there. I mean, every stop that we've been on this tour has been nothing short of exceptional.

every single place. Kansas City, Nashville, Detroit, Buffalo. We are meeting the best fans, the best listeners of this show. Every stop has been so much fun. We've done something different at every stop, taken in all the food that the places have to order. We were joking around with Security Mike, who maybe if you listen to other Barstool shows,

If you're with Brie or Mubi and they're partying at the colleges, you got to watch out for partiers. And then you get us. And it's like...

Where do these two bitches want to eat next? It's like, where are they getting their next meal? I said that all he has to worry about is where we're getting our next meal. That's it. That's it. Us being fed. Because that's really the only thing on our radar as well. True. We're just mapping out the restaurants and making Mike drive us to all the different spots. Doing anything too crazy. Now, once in a while, we'll have a night out. Once in a while, we'll have a night out after the show. But for the most part, we're just like, we need to test out all the great places that these cities have to offer. And Buffalo was really, really great. We went to the Niagara Falls. We did. What a time. The Canadian side. The Canadian side, of course. We ziplined. We did. Across the falls. Yes.

And what... Next to the falls. I'm trying to, you know, amp it up. Next to the falls. People know. You're not going across, which I'm glad you wouldn't have known. Well, do they know? Because we all showed up thinking we were going across the falls. I did think we were going across the falls. And...

Should we put that in, the footage? We should definitely put the footage in. It was fucking awesome. I went spread eagle against the Niagara Falls, unlike anybody's ever done before. I don't know if the Niagara Falls has ever seen a spread eagle like mine. And it was such a time. It was honestly such a thrill. It was amazing. It was one of the best things we've done as a group, in my personal opinion. It was really fun. I wish it wasn't raining. Yeah.

Because I feel like it just would have been, we had so much fun, it just would have been ten times more enjoyable if it wasn't raining. I, like, partially agree with you, but at the same time, I feel like the rain and everything added to the thrill of it. It's like, oh my god, this is a blast, we're getting smacked in the face with rain, it's cold. And you get to wear the ponchos. You know when it's rainy, you get to wear the poncho. It, like, added to the experience of the Niagara Falls to me, like, what I envisioned. Yeah. Of it being, like, rainy. Yeah.

I guess because I've been there in the summer when it's been really nice. So you've experienced it in the summer. I have, which is why I'm like, it is just that much better. I'm sure that it is so gorgeous. Probably way more crowded, though. Yeah. Definitely more crowded. Definitely more crowded. I'm sure that it's amazing and so gorgeous in that weather. But to me, it added a little bit of thrill. Like, oh my God, we're doing this in the rain. Do it in the snow. Yeah, snow would be cool. Yeah. It's just...

Especially, you know, it's a very touristy spot, but it's also just like a kid's dreamland, you know? There's just arcades and the Rainforest Cafe and gift shops and like...

All those fun things that when you're like a Ripley's, like all those like fun things when you're a kid, like you just go crazy for. I took home more things from the Niagara Falls gift shop than any other place I've been to. I know, I know. Probably ever. I know. Like...

Oh, I forgot to bring her. I have to bring her. When we get our Christmas tree for the studio, we have a little Niagara Falls ornament that we can put on it. I got ornaments. I got a squash mellow. And before this nurse showed up, I told her, I was like, by the way, I need a pediatric needle. Like regular needle never works for me. Whatever. It's always a problem.

And she was like, okay, got it. So this woman shows up. She's a nurse. Usually they are nurses. Like she told me she was a delivery nurse. And then they like do this on the side. And I told her about the pediatric needle. And I thought that she had it covered. But I don't think she did because she...

went into my arm and my arm does not look good right now i'm not gonna show it doesn't look good she went into my arm and immediately she goes oh no i hit a valve and i'm like that is not let me tell you something when someone says i hit a valve i don't know what that means and i'm sure there's going to be a ton of nurses listening that do know what that means and it's

It's probably not a bad whatever. But the way in which she said it, Fran, I started seeing stars. I had to lay down, almost passed out, literally like my eyes started going black. And I'm like, oh my God, I'm going to pass out. I mean, what?

you have really really tiny veins like you're really brave for even trying to get IVs and I was like yeah I know I said that it's it's worked it's worked every time before you're really brave you're really brave for even time and I was like you know it's very funny it's worked every time before so I thought like I'd be okay but like we probably just shouldn't do this because I almost just passed out like I was seeing stars so like we should just you know

This is crazy. It was just fucking disgusting. And I was so like... Did it stain your couch? No, no, no. I didn't. I was extremely rattled though. Like I was so rattled looking next to me and seeing like bloody needle on my fucking couch. Like I... It skeeved me out. Like it's my own blood. Yeah, no. I don't want to admit on this podcast. I've had my blood taken in the past year and they had to do a, a pediatric. I don't, I don't have a, this is a probably embarrassing to even say, and I probably shouldn't, but I mean, I'm 30 or I don't have a primary doctor.

I stopped going home to go to the doctor and I just never found one in New York City. I know it sounds silly because New York City is so

I don't know. And then like I've asked my friends for recommendations and then they've had some that they've liked but then half the time they're like, I wonder this person didn't like them. Mm-hmm.

So I'm like, oh, well then I'm not going to go to that person also. I would actually argue it's probably more common than you think that people don't have primary. Because I honestly didn't for a while. I ended up getting one about, I want to say like two years ago.

And I've gotten a physical for the last two years. I like to get my blood checked just to make sure everything's good, you know? But I'm also a hypochondriac. It's super duper the right thing to be doing. 100%. Definitely. Your blood tells a lot about you. It's been a while. But I'm sure you're healthy.

Yeah. You know, I'm all, I'm also one of those people that's like, unless I, I'm like, I'm good. And I don't want to really know if I'm not good. Well, you, I mean, if you feel good, that's great. I, I've talked about my endometriosis before. Yeah. Hormone stuff. I like, I've gotten blood work for that to get like, you know, yes. I mean, to get that shit checked out as you should. Um,

But yeah, it's good to have a doctor. No, for 100%. One day you should get one. I would like to have one. No sweat though. You're healthy. You're fine. You're good. Whatever. Keep it moving. Yeah, no, totally fine. Totally fine. Totally cool. But yeah, that was Saturday before I went out. And I was like, fuck it. I'm getting up and going out. I was like, let's keep a move on. What better thing to do than to go out and just take shots all night? That'll be healthy. That'll replace the IV I was supposed to get. I got a good giggle out of the sign saying, Ban from Club Penguin. Oh, that was so funny. That was a random table that had a sign that said, Ban from Club Penguin. That's really funny. And I feel like someone, Kelly Keegs, was like,

that is not something you should be advertising. Like she like took it so seriously. That you got banned from Club Penguin? No, like someone got banned. She was like, that is not something that anybody should be bragging about. I was like, I don't know if Kelly spent a lot of time on Club Penguin like we did, but you can get banned for literally. No, it was very easy to get banned. Very easy to get banned from Club Penguin. And she was like, he must be a pervert. And I was like, all right, we're jumping the gun here. He maybe just said like ass and got banned. You never know. You never know. So that was funny, but it was a good time. Good weekend. And then Sunday, Wicked time. So we'll get into that. I saw Wicked at one o'clock so that I could come home and have plenty of time before the Eagles played Sunday night, which was awesome. They crushed. I'm Saquon Barkley's biggest fan. And yes, I've changed my tune.

because he's just so good. And now it was a perfect day, one might say, of a combined Eagles win and going to see Wicked. It was so fucking good. No, but honestly, the Eagles win was a highlight. And I'm like, it's so long and I just am not a musical person that I'm like, I just can't. I just can't do it. It took me a long time to watch Barbie and then I watched Barbie. I mean, yeah, I would go. Should we get Jen to take Noah to Wicked? I would go if my mom really wanted to go. But honestly, I don't know if she's going to want me to say this, but she had no interest. Really? Yeah, which is kind of surprising to me. She has no interest to go see it, is what you're saying? I think she has no interest in watching the movie. But she's like a big fan. She's like, I've seen the play. I already saw the play. But I don't know.

yeah i tried to i tried to just rationalize that in my head i can't no i know i called my mom yesterday because she fucking loves the play my mom has seen it a couple times and i was like i'm going to see wicked and she was like oh my favorite and i was like are you gonna go see the movie and she was like i don't know i don't know if daddy wants to go see that and i was like someone needs to take this woman to go see wicked because i know that she would love it um

My mom also took me to see Hairspray when I was younger, too. She loves a musical like that. Those are great ones. Absolutely great ones. But Wicked was just, I mean, it was fantastic. It really was incredible. It exceeded expectations, even though the expectations were very high because of the reviews it was getting already. Right. We went in knowing...

that everybody was raving about it. But sometimes there's a world where you're just, whatever part of the internet you're on, you're raving about it, maybe you have a different opinion. But I mean, it was fantastic. I was blown away. And truly, really, Ariana Grande is a revelation. She is. She's a superstar. She...

I walked out and I looked at you and I said, that was Ariana's movie. She was so great. And it is not taking anything away from Cynthia because Cynthia is also absolutely fantastic. And I think she plays Elphaba so well. And I mean, their voices are incredible. But I think it's because you're watching it in two parts also. So...

Act one, act two, Wicked part one is act one. And act one is just a little bit more Glinda dominated in my mind. There's funnier moments. There's like Glinda's comedic moments are there to shine through. And then act two is much more Elphaba in my mind.

So I feel like in this case, it was just this part. Like, oh my God, she was so, so good. Her comedic timing was perfect and her voice was insane. The opera notes that she was doing were

I had goosebumps the whole time. Every time she opened her mouth. Azadai, she was spectacular. I couldn't take my eyes off of her too. Whenever she was on the screen, even with other people, I was so locked into Ariana Grande. She was just incredible. She really was. And

And I didn't feel... And I feel like this is... The director had talked about this. That he made Ariana Grande come back three or four times. Because he wanted to make sure that we weren't getting Ariana Grande. It had to be stripped down to be Glinda. And...

that's what I felt while watching it. Like I was like, Oh my gosh, she is Glinda. Like this is not Ariana Grande. Like she just completely transformed herself into this role. I mean, we can see it. She now talks like her in interviews and everything, but it makes more, it makes more sense to me that Ariana Grande has transformed into Glinda than Austin Butler has into Elvis. And you know, maybe I'm just being biased towards Ariana Grande, but I, um,

I thought it was just spectacular, the entire thing. I would have watched part one and part two if they would have gave us just like a 10-minute intermission. I would have watched the second part there. I would have sat there all night because even with a two-hour and 40-minute length...

I did not feel like it felt long. And I am not someone who likes a three hour movie. I've talked about it before. I really don't enjoy that long of a movie. But I got up to go to the bathroom when we were about two hours, about two hours in.

And I was like, what? Like, I genuinely was blown away when I looked at my phone. The movie started about 5.20 and it was like a little after set. I was like, oh my God. Like, I couldn't believe it. It flew by for me. I could have sat there for the next two hours and watched the second part. Like, it just was, I thought it was so incredible and I was so engaged into the movie. I mean, the certain tear dorkers for me was...

The ballroom. Yeah. The ballroom dance when Glinda. A boss dust. Yes. Glinda dances with Elphaba for the first time because everyone's making fun of her and she is like, I'm going to step up and dance with her. Tearjerker. The ending was so incredible. I like my mouth was on the floor. I was like, this is. And weirdly enough, it didn't.

Okay, well, I didn't say a million out of ten. Yeah. So like, Well, I mean, all I'm saying is a thousand out of ten and four out of five stars do not translate to the same grade. Mm.

know i think from the end from an initial reaction standpoint it i was so great that i was like whoa this movie's so good and then when i kind of was like thinking about like how i was feeling during the movie because like you know you come out and it's right after defying gravity so you're like oh my god what a scene blah blah blah and then when when i was walking home on my bike just you know thinking about the movie as a whole

There are scenes in the movie in which I thought, this is unnecessary. Let's move on here a little bit. But I thought they were so quick where it's like a great- Like the yellow brick road?

Like really? We're going purple, blue, green. I told you, I told you. That's what she said. We're repeating ourselves a little bit. Ooh, the yellow, that has a nice tone to it. Fucking cut that scene. What a nitpicky, what a little nitpicky response to a beautiful scene. That, it's just like when she says, It was so Glinda. It's like it's road. That's whatever she says about the yellow being road. Everybody fucking loved that line. It was so Glinda. But also, think about how long

God forbid someone has a criticism. Well, think about how long that scene really was. A minute? Yeah, and it was two hours and 34 minutes. It would have been better if it was two hours and 32. It was two hours and 40. Yeah, it was a long movie. It was a long movie, but the length did not bother me at all. No, I agree. I just felt like there were certain scenes where I was like, that wasn't necessary. Now, I'm going to repeat myself. Yeah But when you watch A movie musical People are so critical Of movie musicals Because there's so many People who go see it Who like Are expecting a movie Yeah That they put more dialogue in And that's gonna make That's gonna make For a longer movie Yeah That's true That's very true I get that Because if it was all Just singing like it is Mostly in the You know Musical more vibes Yeah People would be like Too much singing Yeah

Yeah, I get that. At the same time, you got to know what you're getting into with the movie musical. Yeah, of course. I think the reason that I like Joel. At the end of the day, I think the saturation should have deserved a quarter of a star knockoff. It's not just saturation. It's like just the color grading in general. I'm more just thrown off by the 1,000 out of 10 story into a four. Well, we're on the Weekly Watch Report, so what would you give it as a letter grade?

So am I. I don't want people to think that I didn't like the movie. I fucking loved the movie. I cried the entire time. She cried the whole time. From the first line of Glinda coming down in the bubble, I literally was crying my eyes out when she goes, oh, some can say we were friends. I literally was like, oh my God, I'm not okay. This was a phenomenal movie. I just can't wholeheartedly give it five stars because I just had some critiques. These critiques are for John.

Me and John need to have a sit-down conversation. Because let me tell you, I wonder if the problem would have been fixed with just a little switch of a dial. Sometimes that's all it takes. If they just took that saturation from a 1 to a 1.5, would it have been a little brighter? I thought the movie was phenomenal. There's only a...

I want to say two to three movies that I've ever given five stars. One of them, off the top of my head, Interstellar, Little Women. Those are untouchable, perfect to a T. Little Women is such a long movie. Greta Gerwig's Little Women? I love Little Women, but Little Women is also very long. I never had an issue of the length of the movie.

It was just certain scenes that I felt was unnecessary that was adding to like, I love a two hour movie, a three hour movie. I, you know, Christopher Nolan movies are an average two hours. I just felt like there was some unnecessary tidbits. Yes. Some fluff that was added where I was like, I get it. It's a movie you want to add in things that like are funny. Some dialogue that is interesting. You know, how did they get the yellow brick road? Here is a little fluffy story about that.

I just didn't think it, it just didn't do anything to me. It kind of just made me think like, all right, like let's get to the, let's get to the good, you know, let's get to the fucking. So if you define this, you know,

Look, it didn't bother me at all. It didn't bother us. And that's the beauty of opinion. And that's the beauty of film critique as one film studies person to another. So true. That's the beauty of America. If we can't hold space for these kinds of conversations, what conversations can we have? So true. As people who work in media, you know, I've seen a few posts.

It's hard to not look washed out in baby pink and have long hair though. Very true. Very true. But like a little spray tan would have helped. Yes.

But she stole the show from me beyond words. She was amazing. Like I had mid, not mid, but a little, not too high of expectations for her. I thought Cynthia was going to be like, you know. And Ariana just brought the house down. Popular is like now my favorite song because, and I didn't really even like that one out of all these songs. Yeah. Okay, Gia, thank you. Yes, thank you. Yep.

I'm sorry, you know, she did end up giving, we said she gave an A-. Yeah, that's a high score. It's a great grade. We just were shocked. I was in between an A and A+, but you know what? I got to go with my heart. And your heart's A+. Yep. Everyone has a right to their opinion. This is the thing. They do. And I also like, there are certain things that bother certain people.

That just would never bother me. You know what I'm saying? Unless it was, unless it was so blatantly in my face or like the color thing. I just, I don't have that kind of eye. It just would not bother me. Maybe that's enough. Unless, unless the movie started out quite literally in black and white. And I was like, Oh, they should probably add some color into this. Maybe that's, maybe it's not even, maybe it's a problem. Right. Right.

And look, there could be a lot of listeners out there who are like, Gia's so right. I had that same thought. I'm sure there will be. Once again, there was enough people that thought that that John was asked about it in an interview. I just wanted to know if that was a genuine complaint of hers or if she just saw it online. And I think it was a genuine complaint of hers. I think, no, it really was. Because I will say, she sent that text about the color right after we saw the movie. So I was...

And then I like then in my head, I was trying to like go back and think about it. And I was like, OK, I could. Here's the thing. Like, I see it. I see what you say. It is not like in your face. Bright, bright, bright. But that was a creative choice. And now that that was a John M. Chu creative choice to not have it be that bright. And I honestly feel it adds like he said, but like.

it feels more human emotion. Like I feel like we're able to relate to them more and have those moments of tears and whatnot because of the realness it creates. But that's our opinion and many, many people are going to agree with Gia. I do feel that as well. We talked about Wicked so much today. We did. I didn't watch too much TV this week actually either uh movie week since you know when to see Wicked A plus um I watched Gladiator for the first time never seen it the first Gladiator never seen it are you not entertained Gladiator 2 you know the whole all the hype and whatever I know there's like you don't have to see Gladiator to see Gladiator 2 um so I've been told but I was like oh I've never seen Gladiator and Joe wanted to watch it so so I watched it

It is so acclaimed and so discussed that I had not seen it, but I felt like I had seen it. You know, does that make sense? Like from discussion and people talking about it, like I knew what happened. I knew the story. I knew like there was, yeah, there was no like surprises to me. Like I just knew. So going into it, it's tough because I mean, the movie came out 25 years ago. So it's like,

I've seen all the discussion about it, and I will say I'm not a massive blood and gore fan. It's not too gory, is it? It's pretty gory. I saw it a long time ago. It's pretty gory. I don't really remember. Yeah.

It's, yeah, no. But, no, I mean, it's a fantastic movie. I would give that like a, I mean, Gladiator gets like an A minus. Like, it's a great movie. Are you giving it a higher grade because you're afraid to give it a lower grade? No. I was just about to say, was the color the problem? No, no, no. It would have been an A. And I'm not because I just think I'm giving it a grade that I would give it if I hadn't known everything about it.

I watched episode two of Roni. So, I mean, I can get I'll give that a C. I just think like I understand what she's saying with this cast is that the show has changed so much. And there and Bethany kind of made a follow up video that she was. I feel like what I'm saying is kind of getting twisted. She's like, you know, when we made the show, we were like nobody's.

It was not, you know, we weren't in those shoes. I had a studio apartment, like all these things that they were not like these socialites or Uber successful or all these things. And now the show has just changed because like Roni is all these women that are so accomplished, so successful. And, um,

I think she was kind of trying to say that sometimes the drama feels like less frivolous and silly because of that, which I do understand what she's saying in that sense. So I see, I'm like, there's not, there's not anything that quite that has wrote me in fully there. And yeah,

Honestly, that's all I watched. I have not watched a single episode of Love Island Australia this week. We were traveling. Yeah, we were traveling. Joe and I watched some movies. Oh, I watched Deadpool and Wolverine. Forgot we're doing movies. I had not seen it, which is crazy for the Marvel fan that I am. I thought it was good. It was like, this is going to be... It's tough for me because I normally love...

Ryan Reynolds whole like stick in movies and everything. I love the Deadpool character. There was like one too many gimmicks in this movie for me. Like I love a callback. I love like a reference. I love that.

But like I felt like this whole movie was built on that. So it was tough because I was watching with Joe and normally what I love about like a Marvel movie whatever you can sit down and maybe if you haven't seen some of the other ones you can still kind of put the pieces together. And

I was watching with Joe who's not really seen all them and he was like friend I this is making no sense he's like I don't understand anything that's happening right now and I was like honestly so fair even I'm like a little confused like there's some things just picturing I don't know why I'm picturing Joe saying that and it's cracking me no he like got up and walked into the bedroom he's like I'm done watching this like you enjoy the rest like I have no fucking idea what's going on um

But that's it. I'll say I'm excited to clock in some TV this week because there are seasons of shows out that I – new seasons. So Bad Sisters, Based on a True Story, the one with Kaley Cuoco. Wait, that's back? Yes, season two. I just butchered the last name. But season two of that is now out, the whole thing. Oh, I like that. So excited to watch. I cannot wait to watch that. Is that the one that was on Peacock? Yes. Yeah, yeah. Cannot wait to watch season two of that. Shrinking I have to catch up on. There will be new episodes of Sex, Lies, and College Girls. But I will say, whenever I do a rewatch, I never really start from season one because I've seen it a million times. But I watched the first episode of The Sopranos for the first time since I watched it for the first time because I always rewatch from the middle. Yeah.
