Throughout our childhood, being normal is a good thing, right? It's fitting in. However, in actually being successful in life, it's the opposite. And what I want you to understand is your extremes is where you can actually be the most successful. You can be the most authentic you. My name's Rooney Moore, host of Living the Red Life podcast, and I'm here to change the way you see your life in your earpiece every single week. If you're ready to start living the red life, ditch the blue pill, take the red pill, join me in Wonderland and change everything.
your life. Guys, welcome back to another episode of The Red Life. Today I have a cool episode and a little strange, but I'm going to dive into what is called playing in your extremes.
And at the end of today's episode, my hope is I've empowered you a little and opened your eyes to why your extremes are a great thing. Many times in life, through society, throughout upbringing, we are basically pushed away from anything extreme. But if you think about what makes an extreme and characteristics of an extreme, that's what makes you you. And the more you push away and shy away from your extremes and your personality, the more normal you become.
And, you know, throughout our childhood, being normal is a good thing, right? It's fitting in. However, in actually being successful in life, it's the opposite. And what I want you to understand is your extremes is where you can actually be the most successful. You can be the most authentic you. And I really want today's episode just to discuss that and hopefully kind of make you rethink how you are maybe positioning yourself, advertising, promoting yourself, handling yourself, etc.
and communicating because often we're ingrained a certain way because it's normal and acceptable. But if you, again, actually become more of an authentic you, you'll generally do way better in business. You'll do way better in social media, way better in content creation, way better as a leader. So I'm going to discuss all that today, why that's the case. Like I said, it's a little strange, might not quite make sense, but I promise you it will at the end of the episode.
So the first thing that I want to talk about and I already opened up with is you have to look at everyone that's successful in pretty much every area of life. They all have extremes and
So you could argue, well, actually, you can't be ultra successful in life if you're not an extremist. And there's this famous saying, which I love, and I often say I'm a bit crazy, and they say crazy people change the world, right? And I really believe that's to be true because nothing good and bad ways. But let's obviously focus on the good ways. If you look at most people in life that have had it,
meaningful impact in the world, they're all a little extreme. They're all a little crazy. They have crazy goals, crazy ambitions, crazy voices, crazy ideologies. They're all a little crazy and they all push an extreme and that extreme might be super beneficial for you, for humanity, for the political side that you're on, whatever that is. And generally some people hate that extreme too.
And again, we're just talking about the good extremes here. Okay, we're not saying, hey, let's be extreme in a bad way. But the good extremes that exaggerate your personality for the more authentic you are actually going to be super important for social media, super important for content creation, super important for
The messaging that your brand puts out. Super important for how you write your emails and your landing page copy. Super important for how the sales team that you may build one day are selling you because they're selling with passion and conviction because you're the authentic you. The person that stands out. The person that resonates.
And if you've followed me for many years, you'll see that development of myself, my character, so to speak. Right. And, you know, my friend Hulk Hogan was just on Joe Rogan's podcast and he talked about the Hulk Hogan character and how it.
gave so much hope and joy to so many people because it was an extreme. Every WWE wrestler is an extreme. Most celebrities and movie stars that you love are extremes. Most politicians that you love and hate are extreme. Most YouTubers that you follow are generally pushing some sort of an extreme. MrBeast, the most famous YouTuber probably in the world,
He's very extreme, right? He's like a billionaire in his mid-20s by literally doing extreme challenges. Gran Cardone, 10x, 10x all day, 10x everything. Extreme, Tony Robbins in a convention center for 15 hours a day screaming at you, making thousands of people cry and shout and scream and break down and rebuild and walk over fire in a day is an extreme. So there's so many examples of extreme challenges
in life. Every NBA basketball player, Kobe Bryant, famous story, have five hours of training. Well, guess what? He was there three hours early, right? And then he would fall asleep thinking of basketball and wake up thinking of basketball. And then he'd play basketball all day. And
An extreme. So I want you to understand that an extreme isn't like a bad thing. In actual fact, you could argue like I am that it's needed for success. Now, over however old you are, listen to this, 20, 30, 40, 50, 60, 70 years, you've been in a society that's pushed away extremes, right? Because obviously...
for society to function. I'm not trying to go into this big debate of politics and society, but generally they need a lot of worker bodies. They need people that are normal, that follow a system, that build the economy, right? And this backdated millions of years, you know, tens of thousands of years ago, thousands of years ago. You know, you had your king of the jungle, right? You had your lion, you had your T-Rex, your dinosaur that was the king, and then you had everyone else that was under that. And even go back to the pyramids, you had
your Egyptian gods, and then you had everyone else building the pyramids. Then you go to the medieval times, you had your royalty, your king, and then you had all your peasants, right, that did the farming and everything else. And so...
Whether you like it or not, we've grown up in history of a select few and then everyone else. And everyone else has to be very normal, right? And if you look back at the kings, right? Kings and queens. They had gems and diamonds and long robes and big thrones. Like if you're watching this on YouTube today, you'll see Ihab. And they had all this extreme, right? And then everyone else didn't. And so over time, even now...
The billionaires have the extreme, the super yachts, right? They own the islands. Richard Branson, right, who I go to his island and going back soon in a few months time, is an extreme. And if you go look at his documentary, which I really recommend you do, you'll see his extreme nature coming out.
so many times and every time it came out and it was super unique and super crazy, right? And go watch that documentary. You'll see how it paid off for his brand and that's what separated him. And now he's obviously a multi-billionaire helping change the world, has an island and some people argue the opposite, I'm sure. But extremes win, okay? We're pushed down over 10, 20, 30, 40, 50 years to be the opposite, right?
The more I've played into my extremes, the more authentic I feel, the more...
release I felt in terms of like not having these like social handcuffs on you because a lot of you right now have these social handcuffs on you where you're afraid to say something afraid to put out an ad afraid to write ad copy like that afraid to say this to an employee and obviously sometimes you can't say everything to your employees because the employment law but you get the point that the more you can be the more authentic you generally the better you'll do the more of a tribe you'll build the more you'll resonate with your customers
The more your employers will rally around you, the more better applicants you'll get, better employees because they resonate with your mission. And obviously during that process, there'll be people that go, this person's crazy. I don't resonate with that person. I don't like that person. And that's generally a good sign that says, okay, I'm on the right path. Because if you're very neutral, and I used to say this, I had like, oh, I have no haters, no one.
You know, no one's ever said a bad thing about me. I don't get any spam on my comments or anything like that. And I actually now realize that was a bad thing. That wasn't, I used to think that was a great thing, but I realized that was a bad thing. And the reason I mean, I was like that was a, just like everyone I was brought to be normal, right. And be liked by everyone. And secondly, because I was a scientist, I started as a sports scientist. Scientists are very impartial.
They're very data driven. They don't have strong opinions unless it's scientific facts. And that's kind of how I became in the health space, which was my first business was like, hey, I don't have an opinion here. This is just what the data says and the research says. And the problem with that, right, is the person that had the opinion that
ketogenic diet is the only diet to be on or everyone should cut out carbs or everyone should do HIIT training. Those were the guys that had 20 million followers, right? Because they're, you know, girls that had 20 million followers because they grew a tribe of the 20 of a million people that loved
the low-carb ketogenic diet. And of course, you had thousands of people that liked carbohydrates and would argue, but it didn't matter. They were in their own world. They were successful. And of course, you shouldn't ever lie, but they were actually more successful than me being this like neutral person.
So and I'm still not anywhere like to my full potential because you have to grow it over time. And especially when you've been ingrained a certain way over, you know, decades, it takes years to build confidence. Just like, you know, when you say you start doing a jump on a ski slope, right? You start on the small jump and you build confidence and you say, oh, that works. Oh, I didn't injure myself. Oh, actually, I landed that jump. And then you build the distance of the jumps. Right. And you start doing bigger and bigger jumps.
It's the same here. So I want you to start working on playing in an extreme. Obviously healthy, but playing the extremes that make you you. Be more of your authentic self and put all of that into everything you do. So that should be how you motivate your employees, how you pick products, how you hire, how you fire, how you post social media content, the story behind the brand.

I appreciate you guys and let's dive back in. And I'll give you examples of how this links, but everything should be built around that, especially if you're a personal brand or you have a unique brand or messaging, which it
Really, a lot of you do, even if you don't know you do right now. Like, that's what you actually need to be successful in most of today's world is building a tribe around that. So one example is, say you're listening to this and you develop a skincare product, right? Maybe you're super...
passionate about skincare, the skincare industry, how most of it's bogus, most of it's crap, most of it's the same, most of it's harmful. And you have these really pure natural great ingredients. You've gone through 30 iterations of samples and testing and you've tried all this stuff in Sephora and CVS and you hate it all.
It's all crap. What happens is you go through a lot of that behind the scenes, but then the most important part you miss, which is actually going to make you as successful as possible, is voicing that. And the person that wins on social media and wins in the marketing world these days is the one person that, as they were going through those 30 samples,
And going through Sephora, they were filming it all. And they were doing a YouTube video and an Instagram post on every one product in Sephora over the year that they went through. And throwing it in the trash or burning it and talking about why it was crap. And then they were going through the 30 samples of their custom formula, trying it on and critiquing it.
it because guess what by the end of that year as they did all of that which is what a lot of you have done in your own product but you just never talked about it they built a massive audience they showed everyone about all the BS they went against you know the big corporate companies which a lot of people like they talked about the industry scams they cause controversy they had highly shareable content and then they show and then they build our audience and then they show their audience that they just bill
hey, this is the time and care we took, right? And this is why we got to product 28 and most companies would have launched after sample four, but we're still on 28 still throwing it away because it's 95% ready, but there's one ingredient still not right. And now when they finally launch on sample 30,
most of you are launching on sample 30 and you didn't do any of that and now you have zero customers and followers and you don't know how to sell. Whereas if you had played in your extreme and then used that as content this whole time, you'd probably have like 100,000 loyal followers that have been watching all 30 samples and they have their credit card ready. And when you launch, you make $200,000 that night and break your website because they're so loyal and so convicted because of the messaging you put out.
And that's just one example, right, of how inside you, you still had some of that extreme, right? You had that extreme of like hating all the products and going to such meticulous lengths to make your product amazing, but you were scared to share it. You were scared, you know, you didn't have that empowerment, which is the point of today's episode.
And I guess we'll call this empowering your own true voice or the authentic you, right? Because if you had only had that empowerment, you had already done the work. And that's the message I want to get across today. If I only get across one thing to you today is all of you have this uniqueness about you. You all have this voice.
So it may be somewhere deep. You have to search for some time to find it if you've kind of became very normalized over the years. But there's always something that makes you you, right? And you've got to find what that is and then see how that is playing in the world of business. And all the greats have this. Steve Jobs, right? Look at him. Mark Zuckerberg, right? The story of him. Jordan Belford, the Wolf of Wall Street, right? Les Brown, another partner of mine. Look, you know, his story.
now one of the greatest motivational speakers of all time. They all have this story, this authentic them, this thing that resonates with people. And today's world, the reason this is so important in today's world is people want that more than ever, okay? People want to buy into that. They want to buy into a tribe. They want to buy into a community. They want to resonate with people. They want to buy from someone that resonates with them.
And don't get me wrong, some people might love the product in Sephora and say, hey, this hippie cares so much about these damn ingredients and animal testing. I don't care. I just want to look good on a Friday night. And they're OK. They're not your avatar. Right. So they become, you know, maybe the hater. Right. Or probably not the hater. They just don't care. And it's OK to have those haters or people that you push.
push away because you guess what? You had a tribe of 100,000 advocates now. And most of you are, I also want you to understand is most of you don't have anyone right now. You don't have that authentic, true following and tribe because of you, because you've not empowered, you've not put it out there, right? You've not gone out there. It's kind of like,
Sitting in your home all day watching Netflix crying about how you're single and saying, oh, I'm single and complaining to your friends that you're single. Well, yeah, the real talk is you're single because you don't leave your house, you watch Netflix. And I'm not saying that to you today because...
We've all gone through this like indoctrination and this is what most of society will always be. Right. But my message today is to break free of that. And all the great entrepreneurs do break free of that. And for you, it's just starting that process. But being aware, if you stay in your house every day and watch Netflix, then you will probably never find the true love because you've never gone out to meet anyone. So if you don't start having this authentic messaging, this true voice,
And building confidence because it is confidence like taking that ski jump, right? And just start small, right? Don't have to go to an extreme. I'm not saying, hey, from tomorrow, you're going to go crazy on everything. No, start the small skis jump, right? And build consistency and build your confidence and test, right? Test the different...
Ski jumps, go, oh, this ski jump doesn't work for me. I don't like it. Where there's a drop off, I like it. Where it's more of a slow, okay, great. We'll just go do that, right, to start. And then maybe as confidence builds, you'll revisit the other way. So find your true voice, find the authentic you, build it into everything you do, start building content around it. And try and, one thing that I learned when I got more into the world of content and psychology and tribes is,
You want to polarize a little. Don't be afraid of polarization. Don't make my mistake that I made for basically my entire 20th, right? I would have millions more followers and way more millions in the bank account right now if I hadn't done this. Do not. The worst thing you can do is try and please everyone, right? And that's like the opposite of what we all get told in life, right? We, you know, and don't ever try...
try and please everyone because guess what? You're pleasing no one. You're just being this like gray neutral, you know, like you're just like a paper towel. You're just boring, right? So don't try and please everyone. You've got to work hard to please a group of people
and also check that you are displeasing other people, right? So a marker success in some ways, if you want to kind of joke about it a little, is how many people am I pleasing and how many people am I pissing off every day? So now I'm kind of looking at that, right? It's like, how many people am I pleasing with my messages?
My big furry red coat walking around in Miami and all the obnoxious stuff I do and how I'm, you know, this polarizing person in some ways. And it's like, how many people can I upset? Because I know if I'm like, oh, who's this, you know, idiot that's rich walking around in all red and a big coat thing and he's all special.
And he's talking about how everyone should be earning money and it's your fault if you're poor and I have to take control of your life. Great, because those people are never going to be my customers. I'm never going to do business with them. Likely, if you sit me down at a restaurant,
I'm going to leave after like 30 seconds because they'll antagonize me so much and I'll antagonize them so much, right? But the people that I do talk to, all the millions of people that are like, oh, wow, that's so empowering. That's true. I can become a millionaire. I can own my own money. I am control. I do have to start a side hustle. I do have to kick out Netflix and stop playing PlayStation every night. Those people are my people. They're the people that are going to follow me
share with their friends because it's the five friends, right? Those people that resonate me have five more friends that would also resonate with me. And then those five friends that they refer to have five friends each. So now you're at 25 friends. And then those 25 people have another five friends. And obviously it gets a little watered down every time, but that is how you grow a tribe. That's how you build a community. That's how you build a big following.
So understand, "Hey, who am I speaking to? Who am I pushing away? How can I be my true authentic self?" Start doing it in everything you do. Don't be afraid to be polarizing. In fact, understand you have to play in an extreme. You have to push boundaries. You have to break the realities of norm. You want everyone to think you're a little crazy because generally when that happens, you finally know you're on the right track. That is the mark of success.
And it's kind of like this area above the clouds, okay? Like imagine an airplane. When you take off and go through the clouds and you get up there and it's emptiness, right? It's sky and you can't quite see down or it's very distant and there's clouds. That's where all the millionaires hang out. Probably the most successful people in any walk of life. Generally the happiest people. Now don't get me wrong, there's
lots of happy poor people too, but generally happy people because it's not about being rich or poor. It's about those people are their authentic self. They are true to themselves. They've created a tribe and a group of people where they feel at home like family. And they're leading like a vision for their life, right? And that's what you want to create, I'm sure, for your life, for your family's life. And that's what your customers want out of you as well. So
That is today's episode. I told you it was a little different, a little weird to start maybe, but hopefully it all made sense. Obviously, the takeaway should be clear. It's an empowerment-based takeaway, right? And it's you understanding that it's okay and, in fact, actually needed to do all of those things, to play at that extreme, to be your authentic self, to document it, to share it with the world, to build the tribe, to build the group of people that hate you too because they will also promote you for free, as Grant Cardone says.
And I really want you to take that empowerment away and get started today. Rethink how you're positioning yourself. Sit down by yourself in a dark room and think, who are you? What do you stand for? What does your brand stand for? How does that relate into your business, your product and entrepreneurship? And I promise you, when you start living that true life, that true authentic self, your business will take off.
your following will grow, your community will grow, and you will sell more of your own stuff. Until next time, keep living the red life. I'll see you guys very soon.
