I am unashamed. What about you? Welcome back to Unashamed. I've made my way back down to the southern lair in some transition down here. We got Zach zooming in. What did you say about moving in? What's that mean?

Well, we bought another house down here, but I haven't quite made the transition. You can't hide money, Al. You can't hide it. I know. When you own too many houses, you can't hide it. Are you selling one and moving to another? Yeah, we're selling this one. So you're not collecting them. Yeah. No, no, no. I'm not Willie. You know, Willie collects houses and properties. Hey, look, I'm glad he does because he bought my parents' house when they were trying to get rid of it, and I think that they got a good price out of it. Yeah.

Well, usually when we have guests in, they're staying on one of Willie's properties. So I'm glad too. Every family needs a collector of properties, I suppose. You got to have that guy. Oh, you got to have him. Jace is collecting. He's got Nashville. Now he's got West Monroe. Where else you going, Jace? Bahamas? Well, I've told that story before. I had a house in Austin, Texas because I thought I was going to –

do a treasure hunting show there, which I did the treasure hunting show, but not based in Austin because Jelp was going to be there. I didn't know that someone was going to knock on my door a few months later after I bought the house and offer me about twice as much as what I had just paid for it. You said, I'll take it. Yeah, I'll take that. And then we'll take that instead of paying the government. We'll just...

exchange it for a way better property in the hills of Tennessee. So that's how that happened. I was just at the right place at the right time. It's all location, location, location. Well, I'm just saying, sometimes people look at things like that and it's like, man, boy, you must have a lot of money. Or you're just at the right place at the right time. The housing market took off.

If you're in the right place, yeah, real estate is a good investment. Hey, this guy wanted my house. In fact, the way the conversation went was, would you like to sell your house? And I was like, nope. And he said, well, I'll give you such and such amount for it. And I said, hang on a second. I said, babe? He said, what? I said, I just sold the house. It's about the gist of it. That's how it is.

I like it. You got to be ready to roll. Of course, then my house I acquired got hit by a tornado. So, you know, I was at the wrong place at the right time for that. That's why you can't put your trust in stuff that storms can knock out. Zach, I noticed I saw some pictures of your house, which y'all just did a big upgrade there. It looked really nice. We did. We redid the kitchen.

We redid the living room. My house was built in the 1800s. So it's honestly, you get into something like that. The house was built in the 1800s? Oh, yeah. It was one of the first houses in this area. Have you metal detected the yard? No. You should come up.

I'll tell you what, you did, actually, you did come up. I forgot about that. But you drove by and honked. Had you pulled off with your metal detector, you probably would have, you could have, you could have found some stuff. So let me just tell you another place that I have that we, we bought next to nothing. And my wife fixed it up and it's South of Monroe. We turned it into like a, you know, a business. It's a bed and breakfast and a wedding venue. And that's where I learned how to treasure hunt.

So I haven't been treasure hunting in a few months. We did, you know, multiple seasons of the Duck Family Treasure, which is on Fox Nation. But Missy was out there doing something. There's a little shop. I think they call it the treasure box or something. So when people stay, they can buy, you know, antiques or whatever. And she was going out there with one of her friends doing something.

And it was Saturday. I didn't have a whole lot going on. I was going to go dove hunting, which I wound up going yesterday. I'll give you that report at some point. But because it had rained so much, where I was going to go, it was too wet. So I was like, well, I'll go out there and check the fields around there because I have permission to dove hunt there. So I go out there, but I took my metal detector just because you never know.

But all the fields around me is peanuts. So there's no doves and they hadn't harvested the crop. So I was like, well, I guess I'll just get out my old metal detector where it all started, where I've hunted hundreds of times while my wife was busy working with her friend. So I was about an hour into this and my signal goes off. Like, this sounds pretty good.

And I'm in my front yard where I've hunted hundreds of times. Did I not say that? And other people have too. And I thought, well, why haven't I dug whatever this is up? So I wasn't, you know, a hundred percent sure. Cause every once in a while you get, you know, kind of a false signal, but I dig the hole and put my detector back over it. Well, then I just had a bunch of iron. So it was an iron bed, but I thought, man, that, that first signal, uh,

I know it was something good, so I kept digging. And I started putting my pinpointer down where there was a lot of iron. And so I started getting out nails because the pinpointer detects any metal. And so I was cleaning up the hole. And so finally at the bottom of the hole, there's nothing. And I had quite a deep hole. And I come up on the sides and my pinpointer went off. And I got to look in there about eight inches down from the surface.

And I could see the rim of something that I thought was a coin. And I was kind of like, so I grabbed it. And when I grabbed it and the dirt fell off, I said, not only is this a coin, it's a silver coin. So I had a little, in that moment, you know, yeah, yeah. Well, then when I pulled the coin closer and I had the coin here, if you can see this, it's pretty tiny. Can you see it, Matty?

She sees it. Pretty tiny. And Phil, I don't know how good your eyes are. It's a real worn coin. But as you look, I started looking and I started what little Espanola that I know started trying to surface because I was trying to think of the Spanish version for...

Oh, my goodness. That's an old coin there. 1770 to 1806 is when they made the Carlos III Spanish half real. It's called the Carlos III Pillar version, of which I found in my yard. Wow.

After hunting it hundreds of times. Hundreds of times for the last five years. That reeks of, there's a payoff. I think in Spanish it's called payola. There was a scene, and I think it was outlawed Josie Wells, where the guy said, well, it's not for sale. Yeah.

I think he said she's not for sale, but she works here. Same concept here. This is not for sale. I mean, it came out of my yard, Phil. Do you know what did you what is the value of it? Or does that the way it works? Well, I mean, if it was if you were so if it was in better shape.

you know, it would be a lot. But this is not, this is one of the most worn coins I've ever found. I mean, you can only see the outline of the bust of,

carlos the third it almost is deteriorated gum it is so thin and uh but you can see enough in detail it was incredible fine i mean it was a top five fine of my treasure hunting career and it just happened two days ago in my yard where i've got i left and did a treasure hunting show went all over the country

It was right there the whole time. I mean, we could have done a whole episode on that because I found a lot of cool stuff in my yard. The land grant there was 1780, which makes sense. And they started building the house in 1800. But I've never found anything that old in that yard. And I have found hundreds of relics and coins. So I just could not believe that. Jason, the house is the oldest thing.

and washed out parish, right? It is. Yeah, it is. And my wife, you know, she has a, she just has a desire to take things that are kind of old or rough looking and try to make it a new creation. I know where she got that concept from. The new creation concept. Well, I was thinking she got it in Jesus. I was her first project. Wow.

I wonder how she would say that project's going. I guess we're going to have her back on to have that discussion. Yeah. So when I went into the treasure box where Missy and her friend was, I was waiting because they were working. And she was like, what'd you find? But she wasn't looking at me. And her friend was like, what'd you find? And I was just waiting because I wanted them both to look. I was going to pull out the coin, you know. And that process took about a minute.

And Missy's like, what'd you find? What'd you find? But she wasn't looking at me. I just standing there. Finally, she looked up, you know, she has that look like, why are you ignoring my question? So as soon as she did, I pulled out the coin, did a little treasure hunt dance. She's like, what is it? I said, it is a Spanish half real.

Because back then, this was the global currency. The number one currency was the Spanish real. And that was all over the world, including... Yeah. So in that song. Interesting. It is interesting. in the body of Christ. The Apostle Paul said, as a prisoner of the Lord, then I urge you to live a life. He's in jail, and then he calls for unity, but he's in jail, so he's got a little problem there. Be completely humble and gentle. Be patient, bearing with one another in love,

Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace. There's one body and one hope, just as you were called to one hope when you were called. There's one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God and Father of all who is over all and through all and in all. So you look up, and I said, one of the sisters said,

Walked up, she handed me a note, and on the note was a list of people who had gathered on a Sunday morning. They were from Ohio, Kansas, Tennessee, Japan. Now just think about this. Oklahoma, this is the people in the room who had just appeared.

Houston, Texas, South Africa, some from West Monroe, local, Indiana, and Washington State. That was the group of the body of Christ that had assembled there. Well, any way you slice it, that's pretty noteworthy.

and all the people that had gathered there. And it occurred to me that the Almighty, oh, he's going worldwide. I think he's there. We're just tapped into it. He's there. We've tapped into it just a little bit.

But to me, I was amazed at the group that came from that, all those directions that gathered up there. I said, you know what? What we've been talking about in Ephesians 4, and one faith, one call, one God, one Lord, one baptism, one God and Father who is over all, through all, and in all. I mean, we take that lightly.

But I mean, the Almighty is sending whatever we do when we point people to Jesus. You can't stop it. No. It's unstoppable. What's interesting about that, too, is— I got about halfway fired up about the whole deal. You're seeing the kingdom that was talked about in the Old Testament and the New Testament unfold. That's right.

I'm actually, we're preaching out of the book of Mark right now at our church. And so we're headed up, we're in Mark 10 now, but in just a few weeks, we'll be in Mark 11, which I'm on the list to preach about Mark 11.

12 through 26, which is when Jesus goes in and curses a fig tree and then he clears the temple courts. And then a few chapters after that, we have what's called the Olivet Discourse, where Jesus stands on the Mount of Olives and has this incredible prophecy about the destruction of the temple. But I was just had this conversation Sunday with somebody that there's a there's this

really obscure part of a verse that we've all heard this verse, but we typically we miss the verse because we put the emphasis on the wrong syllable, as they say. But the verse is in Mark 10,

This is when Jesus clears the temple, and this is why he got angry. We've also talked a whole lot about getting angry, and to Jace's point that he made several times on the podcast, it's not a sin to be angry. You just don't sin in your anger. One of the reasons why Jace said that we know it's not a sin to be angry is because Christ got angry. This is one of the instances where Christ got angry in Scripture, and he goes in,

And he drives them out of the temple court. And he said to them, is it not written...

My house will be called a house of prayer for all nations. But you have made it a den of robbers. And we typically focus on that last part that what you guys come in here to the temple. You took my father's house and you guys were exchanging money. But that was actually a symptom of the problem. The real problem was that they negated what the intention of the temple was. And by the way, that's a that's a reference to it.

Old Testament verse in Deuteronomy, when he says, is it not written? The question is, where is it written? It's written in Deuteronomy. My house will be called a house of prayer for all

And so what you experienced, Phil, on Sunday was all the nations coming together in the unity, by the way, that the book of Ephesians is primarily about. And I would argue the book of Romans has a heavy emphasis on it as well, of this multi-ethnic kingdom coming together to worship the one true God. And that's not something that was a New Testament invention either. That's what's so profound about this. This was not a New Testament invention. This was a

always talked about in the old Testament. It's just that people missed it. And that's what Jesus came. One of the main things she's just came to unfold and, and, uh, and, uh, uncover. Well, and even the, even the journey to get there is that, cause you think about it, dad, I mean, the reason son yesterday happened as you described it was because of a funny television show that,

happen to have you praying at the end of every episode which struck a chord with people that

That years after that show was over would lead to us doing this podcast where we dive into the scriptures. I mean, just look at the journey of how the Almighty did that to build a platform to then reach the people that it's talking about to be able to have that unifying kingdom work. So it is pretty amazing when you see the plans of God as they unfold. It's not something you could have ever predicted. Yeah, that little section on...

Ephesians 4, "He who descended is the very one who ascended higher than all the heavens in order to fill the whole universe." It was He who gave some to be apostles. We read about them. We alert people about them. Some to be prophets, some to be evangelists, and some to be pastors and teachers.

And look, the reason is to prepare God's people for works of service. So the body of Christ, and never doubt, it is amazing how far out. So that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, tainting to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ. It's just...

We read about it and all that, but I just looked out there and I looked at where all those people were coming from. I said, what in the world? I said, this thing is as real as anything you could ever run up on. It's amazing. Yeah, we've become Christ in this world. Oh, big time. So a couple of things. Now, Zach, you said people have the wrong syllable.

Of March 11th. I said they put the emphasis on the wrong syllable because the word is syllable. Hang on, hang on. Well, no, that's actually, you missed the joke. I think you missed the joke. Syllable's not. I got the joke. Here's how many people in this worldwide web.

Yeah, because you're putting emphasis on the wrong syllable in the word syllable, which makes it syllable. Nobody's getting that outside of a pastor, because they're famous for terrible jokes. I disagree. I think this is the first sign that you preach in Mark, which is awesome, but it's the first sign that you've gotten into the bad preacher jokes. Okay.

I really believe that you're going to be shocked that the audience is going to overwhelmingly say that we got it. Now, whether they found it funny, I can't vouch for that. Oh, you can't ever. That's right. You can't ever say whether something's funny. Sometimes things are funny by being unfunny. Hang on, Jess. Let's take a break. Yeah, it was that. Well, that's your only hope. It was so bad that somehow or another, it turned out good. You know what we call that, Jay? We call that the Langhofer effect because Trent was famous for that. Trent would tell such awful jokes. But then it was funny because you could always consistently know it was going to be a terrible joke. And so then he laughed. But they lean into it. What I do find interesting about the passage, you know, for years when I was younger, I remember hearing people say,

that you couldn't sell anything in a church building, like after the service. And I always was confused by that as a young person, because I never heard a lesson on it or anything. But I remember asking somebody, which I don't remember who it was, but I remember asking about it. So I guess I asked one of the pastors where they were getting that from, and they brought this up. And I thought,

I don't think he was talking about that. It's like he was talking about this temple being destroyed. And now 2,000 years later, we've rebuilt the one that he destroyed when we put it in a structure form. Because you could actually sell things just outside in the parking lot.

Yeah. Well, if the temple is the people is what I'm getting at. I'm not joking. If we're the people, then all our transactions and lives reflect Jesus. So you see what I mean? It's like technically people would say it would be wrong for you to sell something at the back of the church. But now we can talk about if you swindle somebody out of money, you know, out in the parking lot.

You follow me? - Jay, what's happened, you're describing a misapplied theology, which has been around for a long time. And we grew up in a group that did this. They took the one, you know, when Paul said, "Don't you have homes to eat and drink in?" Because these people were getting drunk and stuff while they were coming together, to mean that you can't ever take a sip of coffee in your church building. - Yeah, that was another one I was gonna bring up. - Oh yeah. And so I remember one place I visited,

So you walked up to the building where there was an extension cord coming out of the building. There was a little table outside with the coffee pot on it.

And you could drink coffee as long as you're outside. But don't you cross that threshold, buddy, because you're violating the passage if you do that. But that's how that's how misapplied it was on the temple that somehow that was coming forward into a modern building that people meet in. I mean, that was that was the point I was going to ask. Why do these people who view the Bible this way, which I believe is incorrect,

What do they do about the passages that, like at the end of Ephesians 2, that says, we are the temple? How do you miss that? Yeah. Why would you put it to a structure when how many times in the New Testament does it say that God doesn't live in buildings? That's why someone added unity in the body of Christ.

Unity. That's the goal. One mind, one heart, one lesson. Yeah. Yeah. I think that's it. There's such a good practical implications of, of, of this truth in scripture to what Phil just mentioned. That's the unity that you experience. And I don't know. I thought the same thing, Jason. I don't know, you know, the obsession with like another temple being built in the future is some future temple that's going to be reestablished. I'm like, I don't,

I'm reading the Bible and I'm thinking, how could you be waiting on another temple? I mean, it's kind of the whole point, right? Or functioning as one with like wrapped around a building. You just don't get it. Yeah. I don't understand. But part of it is bad, just bad.

approach to the Bible when you, cause you, you go in, you cherry pick these things out and you build these either theologies or just these rules, you know, these regulations and you're really not because you're right. Jays, if you study the book of Ephesians and context, you're going to understand that it's never about a building because we are, we are the building. When did it become about the building? Right. Yeah.

I would think it sums up our American Western religious operation, though. It's all about the building, which is really not what the Bible teaches. That right here makes it a worldview. What does he ascended mean, except that he also descended to the lower earthly regions?

He who descended into the very one who ascended higher than all the heavens in order to fill the whole universe. So the goal is everybody worldwide come together as one group

And let her eat. When we said this before, Dad, that passage, you're exactly right. It really highlights the ascension of Christ. It does. And what he's doing now in a whole new way that I don't think I understood as a young believer. I didn't understand the importance. I was just kind of like everybody else, just sitting around waiting for him to come back. Now I realize that, man, this is the worldwide operation. Oh, absolutely.

And he's, he's in, he's the king. Higher than all the heavens in order to fill the whole universe. But then, but then he gets practically into relationships and husbands and wives. And look, there's where, that's when you need to be thinking about Jesus overturning tables and, uh,

You know, getting angry is like in our homes and how we're treating our wife. And then when it's getting to the kids, I mean, you follow me? He's at the right hand of God. And it's like, this is how you express the love of Christ for a functional society. You know, and he brings up these home environments to me.

What's your, what's your super important. I, um, I read a book recently, actually two books that dealt with some of this. One of them was an old book that I've had for years. It's, and the stats are pretty old, but the name of the book was life without father. And, um,

Interesting, because in the previous podcast, we were talking about one of the main reasons why God wants the marriage covenant to be honored is because he seeks godly offspring. That's a quote out of Malachi. But there are some stats that I pulled up because I knew we were going to talk about this Ephesians 5 passage and about

And then moving into six to about honor your your parents. But these are some stats just about when you remove the father from the home. These are a little old, but it's still I think it remains that children. This is from the book Life Without Father. Children and father absent homes are five times more likely to be in poverty.

In fact, 63% of youth suicides come from fatherless homes. And these are stats from, I think, the late 90s. But I think that they still continue. Crime and fatherlessness, 85% of all youths in prison come from fatherless homes. Educational outcomes, 71% of high school dropouts come from a home without a father.

And then teenage pregnancies, girls and father absent homes are seven times more likely to become pregnant as teens as compared to those who have both parents. I mean, you look at the statistics, even just from a pragmatic standpoint of what works when fathers are present in the home with the mother, children fare better. A more recent book was written by my friend Nancy Piercy called The Toxic War on Masculinity, which we need to have her on the podcast. She's incredible.

One of my favorite authors, but she points out in her book that they looked at which group of men were the most abusive men in America and like what were the highest rates of spousal abuse among any group of men. And they ranked these men in three categories. And the most abusive men were men who claimed to be Christians, but they never attended church.

That was the most abusive. And then second behind that was non-Christian men. But you know what the most non-violent men in America, you know who they are? It's men who attend church regularly. They were consistently...

The least violent men, their wives reported more happiness. I mean, you go down all the statistics, every statistic that you would look at to say this is a successful family unit.

or successful children or whatever, that those were the highest rates. And I don't think that's an accident. I think like God's way, this type of unity, the self-sacrificial love as displayed in Christ himself, when a father and a mother embody that in the context of a home with children, that's just good for everybody, including society.

Would it be fair to say that most of the people that you'll interact with that are behind bars there in San Quentin, or you could go to Angola or any, any of the prisons in America and everything you just described, uh,

is probably the life they grew up with. That's correct. And that's where you wind up without fathers, without structure, without something. We've got a crisis of fathers. You want to know what's wrong with our country. If you just get to the root of it, like when fathers are present in the home with their children. The goal, we will no longer be infants tossed back and forth by the waves, blown here and there by every wind of teaching and by the cunning and craftiness of men and their deceitful scheming. joined and held together by every supporting ligament,

grows and builds itself up in love as each part does its work. So I tell you, and insist on it in the Lord, that you must no longer live like the Gentiles do, and we're surrounded by this, all of this, in the futility of their thinking. They're darkened in their understanding, separated from the life of God because of the ignorance of them due to the hardening of their hearts.

having lost sensitivity, they have given themselves over to sensuality, so as to indulge in every kind of impurity with a continual lust for more. You, however, did not come to know Christ that way. Surely you heard of him, were taught in him in accordance with the truth in Jesus. You were taught

with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires, to be made new in the attitude of your minds, it's a serious thing now, and to put on the new self created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness. Therefore,

Each of you must put off falsehood and speak truth to his neighbors. We're all members of one body. He's trying to bring everybody together worldwide. And I mean, it's a chore, a big time chore. It's not that critical. It's not that hard to understand. It's just difficult bringing that forth. Yeah, well, that's the ultimate solution as we share Jesus. That's right. Because I looked up the same stats.

I guess Zach and I were going down the same road with that. But, well, I read this study from 2023, so it was way more current from a couple in Chicago because I think Chicago has the highest murder rate and violent crime. I'm not positive of that, but the numbers were astronomical. And, I mean, Zach is right because I wanted to be able to say, look at the stats. And, of course, they had all the stats there.

And it was amazing, the violent crimes, where they come from as far as having got a mother and a father in the house, crime way down. Not coming from that bulk of the society.

And so it was just in every aspect, it was times 40%, 70%, 100%, 400%. They just kept going up. And so that is the breakdown. But simultaneously, we know, okay, well, we need to reach out, share Jesus like what Phil read. I mean, the old self.

needs to be put away and you can be a new person in christ and part of part of a new family you know and body and you're married to jesus and because a third of the world is single so what are you gonna do about that well you know when we we introduced jesus but at the same time

You realize what we're going to get into in chapter six. There's a spiritual battle going on. There are forces of evil out there. And what we read the last few podcasts about this, you know, when you have sexual immorality and throw in the greed aspect and then kind of the demonic impurities out there, there's an attack on people.

Men and women itself. Yeah. I watched just this past weekend. I don't know how I ever missed it. And I'm not sure why we watched it. I think we watched it because when I saw the ad for there's a new movie coming out called Am I a Racist? I think that's the name of it.

From the Daily Wire guy. Yeah. I can't think of his name. Matt Walsh. And I said, I wonder what this is all about. And Missy's like, well, you know, that show he did, What is a Woman? You know, it really took off. And I was like, there was a show called What is a Woman? And I was like, and you watched it? And so she's like, you haven't watched that? You need to watch. So we watched it. But now, very seldom do I recommend things to watch, but.

I thought that was, that needs to be watched by society. And it's kind of funny, kind of disturbing. It's like a, I would call it a satirical. It's kind of like satire, but there's truth, you know, obviously embedded all the way through it. Well, because all this guy. It's done very well. But all this guy did, to his credit, was simply ask a question about

Because of all of our national controversy, or national, global controversy on the gender and gender roles. Right. When you fill out a form to go to college now, there's like 70 different options to put in the space sex or pronoun. So what this guy figured out, which I was kind of reading behind his mind thinking,

Where did he come up with this idea? But I think what he realized, I don't know this for sure, but this was my take. He realized that when he asked that question, the belief that has become popular among those who attack the gender God-defined roles, that it's impossible for them to answer. They cannot answer. Because when it goes down to the kids, because it's like,

Basically, let the kid decide what they want to be. Even though you were born a male, that comes out in the show, that's your sex, but they'll say your gender is whatever you want to be, including any kind of animal. I mean, you can be a cat. You can be a wolf. It's nonsense. It's nonsense.

So, Jace, it all came to the national forefront when someone, a senator, may have been our senator in Louisiana, asked the Supreme Court justice nominee, what is a woman?

And she couldn't answer the question or wouldn't answer it, I guess is a better way to put it. So that, that was, that's when it really came to kind of woke people up and like, we can't even answer a simple question like that. And this is going to be a person, you know, determining our laws. And so that's what kind of brought all that to the fore for, for what that's going to be. I was kind of glad I watched it because I realized how grave the situation is in that philosophy. Yeah.

But one, by letting kids decide what they want to do, I mean, which is contrary to common sense. And what they're going to be, a male or a female. Oh, exactly. You just let the kid decide. So then they'll even take them to surgeries. They're like, you know, I'm a girl. I was born a female, but I want to be a boy. And their opinion in some countries will trump the parent's decision to

Because this is, they want to turn that into a law. Oh, so we'll just give you new body parts despite all the risk. And they go into all that, you know. And I was just baffled. I thought, why in the world would human beings could think that this is going to be the answer

to society, you know, having this new society where everybody can just be whatever they want to be. No, but you know, it's a, there's country, European countries have already started, have already reversed course on this because it doesn't take too long before you realize you start butchering young people's bodies. And then they start having buyer's remorse and start thinking I made a terrible mistake, but this is something you can't undo. Yeah.

I mean, that's the problem. Well, that's where I was going with that, Al, because Zach gave you all those stats. We know we have an epidemic of fatherless homes and broken marriages and abused kids, and we have all this. But meanwhile, you have this attack on the identity of people itself, and that's just going to make things worse because now people are –

very adamant about this, which when the guy interviewed these people, I thought that they wouldn't even talk to him, but they were open to talk to him. He sat down, said who he was, and from deans at universities to professors to psychiatrists, what came out about it was these people were so confident in their position that

Yeah. That they, they just said, we'll take on anybody. He has fair questions. Now I will admit by the end of all the interviews, most of them ended the interview, but they ended the interview when he started bringing up things like truth. And now they didn't like that because they were like, well, there's no, there's no truth is whatever you want it, whatever you want to be sure. Every one of them said the same thing. And, uh, but he just let them answer the questions.

Or be unable to answer it. And they never recognized, most of them, what I found fascinating, and perhaps tapping into this, the evils of spiritual forces out there, is they were convinced in their faith

in their answers that they were right yeah yeah it really came out to me there was no manipulation there was no he clearly identified who he was and all he did was ask questions it was that that's why i think that show made such a big hit because he just let them talk and it was so amazing when he got down to the question of the movie well what is a woman

It was just, it was here. Here's, I'll give you a preview of the movie. It was, uh, uh, well, uh, it, it, at every time it was impossible for their philosophy to answer that question. Because the question is, what is a woman? He's asking the question. They're, they're saying, I identify as a woman. Then he, his response is, so what is a woman?

And their answer is whatever you decide that is. Yeah, but then he can't say that, though, really, because they're saying identify as this. So they have to – there is like a – that's the undercutting of the whole philosophy, that it's any kind of postmodern philosophy. It's like your philosophers would say you're sawing off the branch that you're sitting on by stating the actual argument. So if you say, for example, there are no absolutes.

But by saying so, you've established an absolute. Or one of my friends told me one time, there are no guarantees in life. And I just, without even thinking about it, I said, can you guarantee that? He said, absolutely. There's one. You have one. The truth is there is no truth. And you could play this out over and over again. Well, that's the way it was. That was the way. Well, then he would interview people who understood what a male and a female was. And it was mainly biological, which got funny because...

Because people use different words for different body parts and all. And so that, you know, I'm just saying that was probably PG-13, but I'm glad it was there. But it was deeper than that because their philosophy is if you want to let the kid decide whatever he wants to be,

That's just a terrible foundation. Terrible. I mean, my kids throughout their years would come to me with various ideas, and some of them I would say, no. That's a terrible idea. Yeah, that's a terrible idea. Go back out and act like you never had that thought. Okay, Dad. Because it was something that was not going to bring meaning, joy, or peace to their life. You know, just something crazy. You can't let...

Just like Phil read about we're babes in Christ. That would be like, their philosophy is like, as soon as you

Come to the Lord. You're baptized. Then we're going to put those people in charge of the church. Yeah. Well, good luck with that. They haven't grown in the Lord. They don't have much Bible knowledge. They met Jesus. And you see what happens with groups of churches that have tried to do that. Yeah. It fell off a cliff. Yeah. There's a reason the word elder is in there. So I tell you this and insist on it.

in the Lord that you must no longer live as the Gentiles do in the futility of their thinking.

What they're giving us is the futility of their thinking. And it hits us like you slam a door in your face. But it's down to that right there. But my point is, once you break that down, I think we're thinking too shallow that it's just biological and reproductive about male and female. Because when you read Ephesians 5, you get into, yes, it's biological and reproductive.

and reproductive, but it's also relational and you have roles. And then when you take the Genesis account as the foundation, which is where Paul goes back to, and he does that several times, this is, you're, you're setting up a system for a functional society. You have a husband and a wife completing each other. It's like,

making a new creation out of two human beings. I mean, God gives you a formula, which to the world sounds just as crazy as we think that someone can't figure out what a woman is. We're saying one man plus one woman in marriage produces one person. And they're like, well, no, one plus one is two. And it's like, but in the Lord,

A man and a woman uniting becomes one, just like we do with Christ. And that bonding becomes the foundation and bedrock to not only your home, but to societies, to heaven and earth. And it's a beautiful thing. It's a new creation, which is what God does. Yeah, it's beautiful. I think that's where the discussion, sometimes we can turn this into...

Because you can expose maybe the absurdity. The tactic there is argumentum absurdum, where you take an argument, you push it to its logical conclusion to show the absurdity of it. And it's a valid technique in showing how things don't make any sense. But

The problem is, is that it's not just you can't just do that. You also have, in my opinion, I think you have to anchor truth in beauty and what God has created is beautiful. And so if you think about the concept of love, for example, for there to be love, for love to be a thing at all, you have to have two things. You have to have diversity.

Meaning you got to have more than one person because you have to have a lover and one that is beloved. So you got to have diversity and you have to have unity. You have to have a coming together of, of the diversity. And we say, man, where, where would that come from? Where, where, where could, is there a being that was eternally diversified and unified?

Yeah, that's who God is. Father, Son, Holy Spirit. It's the ultimate diversity in unity. And what happens in all of our political movements is we tend to want to go one of those ways without the other. And it's only under a Trinitarian framework where we understand who the triune God is that we can actually get both of these things.
