We're up in one of the California wildfires. I'm Jack Callahan, Fox News. The L.A. wildfires continue to rage on. Fox Weather's Robert Ray reports from Pacific Palisades. This Palisades fire has scorched over 21,000 acres since last Tuesday. It is the most acreage burned in L.A. County history, historic at this point. It has destroyed thousands of structures, and that means homes,
and businesses, neighborhoods, livelihoods completely wiped off the face of the earth. And where we're at right now in Palisades, right on the border of Malibu, Malibu also on the Pacific Coast Highway, many of those beautiful homes and also businesses ruined, destroyed, burned as the fire came down the mountainside days ago as the Santa Ana winds, nearly 100 mile an hour wind gusts.
Category 2 hurricane force winds that hit that ocean side, ruined those homes, burned them.
At least 11 people have been killed. More than 10,000 structures have been destroyed. National Guard deployed to assist law enforcement and prevent looting in the wake of those fires. Fox's Christina Coleman is in Altadena, California. I embedded with the California National Guard as they protect areas that have been just absolutely devastated by the wildfires. They are working around the clock again at some intersections, preventing
people from going to the houses and businesses that have been destroyed. They're helping out in a lot of ways. They want to prevent looting and keep folks away from the downed power lines and gas leaks. Dangerous situations. We're from this community too. All of our soldiers are from the California Army National Guard and we're right here close to home so we really do feel for these people. Deployed Wednesday, some of them even sleeping nearby at a California Highway Patrol communication center.

President-elect Trump is sentenced with no penalty in his New York criminal trial. After an historic trial, President-elect Trump's New York criminal case ended with no restrictions as he gets ready for his inauguration a little more than a week from now. The presiding judge, Juan Merchan, sentenced Trump to an unconditional discharge, meaning he'll get no fines, jail time or probation. Merchan called it the only lawful sentence he could give Trump. or justify its commission in any way. Trump becomes the first president to take office with a felony conviction on his record. He attended the sentencing virtually. Fox, Madeline Rivera, Senate advances a bill to crack down on illegal immigration in a bipartisan vote. The Lake and Riley Act, named for a 22-year-old Georgia nursing student who was murdered by a now convicted illegal immigrant, passed through the House and advanced in the Senate, teeing up a final vote, despite opposition from some Democrats while others support it.
like Pennsylvania Senator John Fetterman. If you're here illegally and you're committing crimes and those things, I don't know why anybody thinks that it's controversial that they all need to go. The Lake and Riley Act would require ICE to arrest criminal illegals and detain them until they're deported and allow states to sue members of the federal government who fail to enforce immigration laws.
Jeff Manosso, Fox News. 3,000 families are about to be kicked out of FEMA hotels in the Carolinas as a snowstorm hits. FEMA telling Fox News Digital it began notifying some of the families on January 3rd. They're no longer eligible for the program because an inspection of their home shows it's now habitable. They declined an inspection or FEMA's been unable to contact them. I'm Jack Kelley. This is Fox News.
