After Pope Francis died this morning at the age of 88, Cardinal Timothy Dolan in New York City tells Fox, I would have like a communal reflection with the rest of the world and especially with the Catholic family of sadness. In about three hours, the Vatican will lead a rosary in the evening in Rome where this woman who liked the Pope's from Argentina. It's a moment of a bit of sadness and at the same time,
and celebration of life. Francis was the first Latin American pope and led the Catholic Church for 12 years. The news is heartbreaking and stunning given that the pope was just seen in public on Easter Sunday greeting thousands of people in St. Peter's Square. It was his most high-profile event as he continued to recover from his almost fatal bout
with double pneumonia. That's Fox's Madeline Rivera. President Trump posted on Truth Social, rest in peace, Pope Francis. May God bless him and all who loved him. His other leaders pay tribute too. British Prime Minister Keir Starmer paid tribute to what he called the Pope's tireless efforts to create a world that is fairer for all. Russian leader Vladimir Putin called Francis a defender of the highest values of humanism and justice. Italian Prime Minister Giorgio Maloney described the late pontiff as ungrateful
a great man and a great shepherd. That's Fox's Jonathan Savage. Now this hour, there could be a tribute to the Pope at the White House's annual Easter egg roll. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth will be there and ahead of it reacted to a new controversy and new leak about him. They take anonymous sources from disgruntled former employees and then they try to slash and burn people.

The latest reports say Hegseth had another signal group chat discussing U.S. attacks on Houthi militants in Yemen last month with his wife and brother and lawyer. Again, our top Fox News story. They are readying a rosary at the Vatican this evening as Catholics worldwide mourn the death of Pope Francis this morning at the age of 88.
On Wall Street, a lot more selling. The Dow dropping 657 points. The Nasdaq off by 395. A 100-point decline for the S&P 500. Selling got worse after President Trump posted on Truth Social another call for an interest rate cut to prevent an economic slowdown. He called Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell Mr. Too Late and a major loser.
Meanwhile, car dealers have been busy with U.S. tariffs on imports of foreign cars and auto parts in place. Automakers report a big jump in auto sales as rush buyers try to beat the tariffs. Nationwide, dealers saw a 10.7% increase in auto sales in March compared to the previous year.
Cox Automotive also reporting that after months of consistent declines, that wholesale used vehicle prices are on the rise again, up 4.3% so far in April. The report shows the day's supply of new cars and trucks calculated by an estimate daily retail sales rate dropped from 91 days at the beginning of March to 70 days this month.
Used vehicle days supply, which had already been low, have declined by four to 39 days. Jeff Manasso, Fox News. The price of oil is down $2, back to around $62.
Gas is unchanged. AAA's national average for regular remains, $3.15 per gallon this morning. There's a new king of the box office. Sinners, an R-rated vampire-themed movie, earned $46.6 million to become the top-earning film. Careful, boy. You're going to bite off more than you can chew. Not far behind was the top earner, the last two weeks, Minecraft movie. You want me to fight the chicken?
