The way the police superintendent, Ann Kirkpatrick, put it, he was hell-bent on creating the damage that he did. Jabbar posted videos online and said he initially wanted to target his family, but he was concerned that the media attention would not focus on the war between believers and disbelievers, indication of his radicalized faith.

Malloy then tried to join the terrorist group in Syria before returning to the U.S., where he continued to communicate online with individuals in Lebanon. Fox's Kevin Uretzky, he faces a maximum penalty of 20 years in jail for supporting Hezbollah and up to eight years for lying about it.
