A Florida man accused of posing as a spy after he was discovered with guns and drugs. Florida Highway Patrol says they found a number of firearms, a bulletproof vest, passports, and alleged phony federal agent badges, including one marked CIA, inside a truck they pulled over on Alligator Alley the span of I-75, crossing the Everglades. The truck had flashing blue and red emergency lights on it,
The troopers say 63-year-old Jorge Alberto Alfonso was in the truck and told the troopers he was a CIA agent. He's now in jail, accused of impersonating a federal official and also for possessing illegal drugs.
In Broward County, Florida, Eben Brown, Fox News. After a series of violent crimes on New York City's subways, New York Governor Kathy Hochul is pushing to expand the state's involuntary commitment laws to allow hospitals to compel more mentally ill people into treatment.
She didn't give any details on what her proposal would change. State law currently allows police to compel people to be taken to hospitals for evaluation if they appear to be mentally ill and their behavior poses a risk of physical harm to themselves or others.
