Bundle up. I'm Daria Albinger, Fox News. One week into the new year, a winter storm is blasting its way across the U.S. and it could impact people in 27 states. Fox Weather's Brandi Campbell in Louisville, Kentucky.
Folks across this area dealing with a variety of different winter precipitations. Here in the Bluegrass State, people, they're seeing their first big snow of the year. The snow has actually stopped. We're seeing sleep but also freezing rain coming down. We've had 7.7 inches of snow to fall here in Louisville. Freezing rain and sleep coming down. We're going to start to see that ice accumulating in this area. Now, I've spoken with public works in this area, talking to them about their plow operations.
They said they were hoping to leave a layer of snow. So once the ice starts to accumulate, they can easily push it off. But they got more snow than they expected. And the weather's been impacting flights across the U.S. FlightAware says over 1,600 have been canceled. Tomorrow marks four years since the January 6th riot at the U.S. Capitol. The events of January 6th, 2021 should not be rewritten or forgotten, President Biden says. We've got to get back to basic normal life.
Asked if President-elect Trump is still a threat to democracy, President Biden answered.

Hamas says it's approved a list of 34 hostages which Israel wants to exchange in a possible ceasefire deal. Hamas official, however, says any deal is contingent upon reaching an agreement on a permanent ceasefire and an Israeli withdrawal from Gaza. As for Israel, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu says they haven't seen or approved any list from Hamas yet.
President-elect Trump wants Senate Republicans to quickly confirm his cabinet picks. Fox's Nate Foy says he's putting a special emphasis on certain roles. Coming in the days and weeks ahead are more fights to confirm his cabinet picks in the Senate, particularly in roles related to our national security after that terror attack in New Orleans this week. Here is Trump's incoming national security advisor, Mike Waltz. This is a moment in transition of vulnerability, and President Trump is going to project that
because he is a leader of strength. The narrative that we project on day one. Trump's pick for defense secretary, Pete Hegseth, will face public questioning from U.S. senators. This will be the first cabinet confirmation hearing. But other picks to watch include Tulsi Gabbard for director of national intelligence and Kash Patel for FBI director.
