Firefighters trying everything. I'm Jane Fergus, Fox News. Winds have been picking up in the Los Angeles area, prompting more action by firefighters as they try to get several wildfires contained. Fox's Bill Malusian is in Brentwood, California. There is a desperate need for
fight to stop the flames. We've seen numerous airdrops, air tankers coming in, dropping their retardant low. The ridge behind me painted pink with fire retardant as firefighters rushed to stop the flames. There's also been a ground effort as well. Firefighters digging a line as well as laying a hose on the ground, getting water on the flames. And it appears that they are doing a good job in stopping things. But the big variable here is the winds, 30 degrees.
to potentially even 50 mile per hour winds. That's going to hamper aircraft operations. Hundreds of thousands of people have already been evacuated and at least 11 have died. The special counsel investigating two cases against President-elect Trump is quitting the Justice Department. Here's Fox's Eric Sean. Smith announced his exit in a court filing that was made public
But, you know, the move is not a surprise. Smith was expected to leave the department by January 20th when President-elect Trump takes office. It is, though, still unclear at this hour when the first volume of Smith's report on the January 6th attack will be released.
Volume two on the Florida documents case, we're told that will not be released because that is still an active prosecution. The president-elect is planning on appointing some members of his defense team to high-level positions at the Justice Department.

President-elect Donald Trump is not too pleased with California Governor Gavin Newsom's response to the ongoing wildfires in Los Angeles. Fox's Alexis McAdams has that and more from West Palm Beach, Florida. Trump now announcing six more names of people who are being added to his administration. This comes, too, as he continues to blame
what happened in California with those raging wildfires on Governor Gavin Newsom. This is a true tragedy, and it's a mistake of the governor, and you could say the administration. So Governor Newsom invited Trump out to California to see the devastation for himself, saying they should really put politics aside during this tragedy as people lost everything. This comes as House Republicans from blue states like New York, New Jersey, and California are expected to meet with Trump this weekend as he says he wants...
