He says tariffs are working. I'm Lisa LaSara, Fox News. President Trump addresses a group of CEOs that have been marked with turbulence and trade war threats. President Trump told the Business Roundtable in D.C. tariffs are having a positive impact on the economy. The biggest win is not the tariff. That's a big win. That's a lot of money. But the biggest win is if they move into our country and produce jobs. That's a bigger win than tariffs.

The tariffs themselves. The president says manufacturing firms are investing in U.S. facilities to avoid 25 percent or more tariffs. President Trump is backing off a 50 percent tariff on Canadian steel and aluminum after Ontario's government.

suspended a surcharge on electricity sold to the U.S. Fox's Jared Halpern at the White House. About half the staff at the Department of Education have had their positions eliminated as part of the effort to slim the government. People left today and they got their notification to take their laptops and their phones home with them and we didn't want...

part of the people who were being permanently let go and those who are remaining to some of them show up to work tomorrow morning. Education Secretary Linda McMahon tells Fox's Laura Ingraham people responsible for grants and appropriations from Congress are still there, so nothing falls through the cracks. By a vote of 217 to 213, the House passed a measure that would fund the government through the end of the fiscal year. Some Republicans voted yes because they feared a shutdown would undercut

the president's agenda. Democrats discouraged their members from supporting the bill. In the end, there was one Democratic, Jared Golden of Maine. Fox's Chad Pergram, the measure now has to the Senate at least eight Democrats would need to vote with Republicans for it to pass and head to President Trump's desk. Yemen's Houthi rebels warning that an Israeli vessel is now a target as Israel blocks aid to the Gaza Strip. America is listening to Fox News.

Firefighters dousing hot spots on New York's Long Island in an effort to keep wildfires from kicking up again as they reveal the possible cause of a fire that was sparked this weekend. Homeowner trying to cook up the marshmallow, chocolate and graham cracker mashup known as s'mores likely sparked the fast-moving brush fire that burned up hundreds of acres.

That's the current operating theory from the Suffolk County Police Commissioner, adding the fires were accidentally started in the backyard of a home in Manorville near the busy Sunrise Highway. The resident could not light a fire due to the wind, then lit cardboard, which turned their backyard into an inferno.

That was put out at about 10.30 a.m. But a few hours later, another brush fire was called in about an eighth of a mile away. It was one of at least four wildfires that erupted. C.J. Papa, Fox News. The latest reading on the job market suggests it was holding up better than expected.

in late January. There were more job openings than expected on the last day of January. The Labor Department's Job Openings and Labor Turnovers Survey found 7.7 million openings. However, that number is down 728,000 from a year ago. Hires came in at 5.4 million and total separations at 5.3 million. The government says both of those numbers show little change.

Job openings increased in real estate and rental and leasing. Layoffs and discharges declined in mining and logging. Janie Kosolda, Fox News. Southwest Airlines, long known for allowing passengers to check two bags for free, will begin charging customers a fee to check bags. The airline says starting with bookings made on May 28th, people who haven't either reached their upper tiers of its rapid

rewards loyalty program, bought a business class ticket or hold the airline's credit card, will have to pay for checked bags. Southwest didn't outline the fee schedule. Last fall, executives had touted the free bag policy as something that set them apart. I'm Lisa LaSara. This is Fox News. Okay, business leaders, are you playing defense or are you on the offense?
