When America is punched, he punches back harder. White House Press Secretary Caroline Levitz says President Trump believes Chinese leaders do want to make a deal with the U.S. to lower tariffs. If China reaches out to make a deal, he'll be incredibly gracious, but he's going to do what's best for the American people. Wide-ranging tariffs are also being imposed on trading partners around the world. Levitz says about 70%
countries have so far signaled they want to start trade talks with the administration. Fox's Jared Halpern at the White House this evening at the National Republican Congressional Committee dinner, the president said he thinks China will make a deal. Also at that dinner, the president said the U.S. will soon announce what he called a major tariff on prescription drug imports, saying it will incentivize drug companies to move their operations to the U.S.
The acting commissioner of the IRS is resigning over a deal to share the tax data of migrants with Immigration and Customs Enforcement to identify and deport people in the U.S. illegally. More information has been released about Ryan Ruth, the suspect in the plot to kill President Trump at his golf course in West Palm Beach. In a filing arguing for inclusion of evidence, investigators say Ruth had online conversations...
with who he believed was a Ukrainian arms dealer and tried procuring anti-aircraft missiles or rocket-propelled grenades. He intended to target then-candidate Trump's airplane. The Keystone oil pipeline shut down after a rupture in the southeastern North Dakota. An investigation program manager for the North Dakota Department of Environmental Quality confirms the Keystone oil pipeline was shut down because of a spill near Fort Ransom, North Dakota. The manager not revealing a cause, explaining the spill is confined to an agricultural field south of the pump station.
The pipeline, which carries oil from Canada to the U.S., runs through North Dakota, South Dakota, Nebraska, Kansas, and Missouri, reaching refineries in Oklahoma and Illinois. A rep for Southbow, which manages the pipeline, says the affected segment has been isolated and operations and containment resources have been mobilized to site, explaining the primary focus is the safety of on-site personnel and mitigating risk to the environment.
