Ceasefire goes up in smoke. I'm Chris DiMeo, Fox News. India and Pakistan are now accusing each other of violating a ceasefire deal made hours earlier on Saturday following talks led by the U.S. President Trump had announced the agreement on his Truth Social platform.
Pope Leo XIV hits the road for his first excursion today. The Pope was a passenger in a Volkswagen van driving about an hour east of Rome to a Catholic shrine. Reuters reports it was his first trip since being selected for the job earlier this week. He also stopped at Rome's St. Mary Major Basilica, the site of the tomb of his predecessor, Pope Francis. Dozens of surprised well-wishers greeted him there, shouting, Hello, Pope!
The new Pope walked to the tomb of Pope Francis, laying down a white flower on it, then kneeling in prayer for a few moments. After his 13th arrest, Rodriguez pleaded guilty in February to attempted robbery. And according to reports, a judge warned him that deportation was likely. But yet again, he was released and arrested three more times before ICE detained him last month.
ICE authorities say Cook County officials ignored six different immigration detainers for Rodriguez in the last year. And court records show in the past, prosecutors in the sanctuary state dropped most of his other cases. Borders are Tom Homan says sanctuary city or not, this should not happen. Trade talks between the U.S. and China taking place today. There's a lot of hope riding on the possibility that the president might lower the 145% tariffs on China. He left that door open yesterday when he posed it on Truth Social that an 80% tariff sounds right. That would give some breathing room for companies that rely on trade between the two countries. However, the White House insists...
Dropping the tariffs is conditional. Trump administration is trying to be optimistic. The president also says he won't be upset if Besant comes back from Switzerland without a deal. We lost $1 trillion last year with China, $1 trillion. So if you're not going to do business with them, you're not going to lose $1 trillion. The president's 10% baseline tariff would remain in effect. The president's saying that number is here to stay even after the deals are done. He says, though, unless someone does something exceptional.
