A major shakeup in the Trump administration. I'm Carmen Roberts, Fox News. President Trump removes Mike Walz from his role as national security advisor and nominates him to be U.N. ambassador. And in a short but turbulent run, notably after the signal chat controversy. Now, while critics call it a demotion, Vice President J.D. Vance tells Fox News. It wasn't let go. He is being made ambassador to the United Nations, which, of course, is a Senate-confirmed position. I think you can make a good argument that it's a promotion.
Now he has to survive Senate confirmation scrutiny, which will likely include a lot more questions, hard questions about that signal chat, his role in it, and of course, how he would represent the U.S. interests at the U.N. Fox's Kevin Cork. Secretary of State Marco Rubio will serve double duty, adding the role as acting national security advisor. China's Commerce Ministry said Friday morning it's evaluating multiple approaches by the Trump administration for trade talks.
Meantime, President Trump signed an executive order Thursday night aimed at cutting federal subsidies for PBS and NPR alleging bias. Earlier, he helped the University of Alabama's graduating class celebrate. Congratulations to the class of 2025. Roll Tide. Roll Tide.

The clashes left dozens of people dead or wounded. The Trump administration asked the Supreme Court to end temporary legal protections for hundreds of thousands of Venezuelans. A federal judge issued a ruling that kept temporary protected status for the Venezuelans that would have otherwise expired last month.
TPS is granted in 18-month increments to people already in the U.S. whose countries are deemed unsafe for return due to natural disaster or civil strife. But the Trump administration's asking the Supreme Court for emergency action to block that judge's order. That could potentially expose 350,000 Venezuelans to deportation. A briefing schedule will likely be set and then an order may be issued by the high court.
In Washington, Jill Nadeau, Fox News. In other court action, a federal judge barred the Trump administration from deporting any Venezuelans from South Texas under the 1798 Alien Enemies Act. Investigators looking into a woman's car crash into a daycare in Illinois.
