The fires continue to burn. I'm Ted Linder, Fox News. At least five people are dead. Nearly 300,000 have been forced out of their homes because of wildfires spreading through the Los Angeles region. Fox's Jill Nadeau reports on all those empty neighborhoods now have officials concerned. Everyone
who had to get out of evacuation areas in the LA region are being told to stay away for now so roads are clear and fire crews and police can get where they need to be. Officials are also concerned about anyone trying to come in and loot whatever may still be worth something.

And as of early this morning, seven wildfires now burning out of control across the Los Angeles area. President Biden flew into California for a separate event. It was briefed by first responders at a Santa Monica fire station Wednesday. He says the Pentagon will assist in the fight. California National Guard is adding two modular air firefighting systems units, and two more are being deployed.

Extreme winds, however, are currently preventing aircraft from taking to the skies. President Biden also now will not be traveling to Italy and will instead remain in Washington to focus on directing the full federal response to the California wildfires. Well, President-elect Donald Trump did not rule out using military force to take control of Greenland. Fox's Jennifer Griffin has the story from the Pentagon. The mineral-rich strategic landmass is at a crossroads territorially as the U.S., China, and Russia race to control the melting Arctic. Denmark and Greenland are NATO allies. Article 5 of the NATO Charter states that any military attack on a NATO ally requires a military response from the rest of the alliance.
Founder of the Eurasia Group, Ian Bremmer, had this to say. It does undermine leverage that the U.S. has in terms of international rule of law. Threatening to use military force to acquire Greenland also signals to Russia, China and others that they can do the same and change the world's borders if they think it is in their national interest.
