Readying for another round of fierce winds. I'm Carmen Roberts, Fox News. Firefighters in Southern California got a much-needed break as calmer winds prevailed Tuesday, letting them make some progress. But another round of critical fire weather is expected to kick up again Wednesday morning. L.A. County Fire Captain Sheila Kelleher tells Fox News. Those winds are going to kick up. They're saying that maybe 45-mile-an-hour gusts. So that definitely is something to be concerned about.
On any normal day, if we didn't already have these fires, we'd be fully staffed up, ready for those red flag conditions. The National Weather Service says a particularly dangerous situation warning will go into effect again for swaths of L.A. and Ventura County starting at 3 a.m. Wednesday. A report argues for a new way to define obesity. Obesity should not be defined solely by BMI or body mass index, which is a calculation of height and weight. That's according to nearly 60 global experts who contributed to a newly published report in the Lancet Diabetes and Endocrinology Journal. The report argues obesity should be defined as BMI combined with other factors like waist circumference as well as health problems that might be linked to a few extra pounds.
Obesity is estimated to affect one billion people around the world. Under the new suggested criteria, 20% of those who used to be classified as obese would no longer meet the definition.
