The thread continues. I'm Paul Stevens, Fox News. A long way to go for firefighters in Los Angeles. There are now massive evacuations happening in Brentwood and Encino. Fox's Max Gordon is in Mandeville Canyon. This fire flaring up this morning, burning over this ridge. You're talking about this steep terrain, these canyons where the fire is burning and this massive plume of smoke rising up into the air. People here in Los Angeles waking up to a frightening scene this morning. Firefighting aircraft
has been on the scene. We've seen several helicopters making water drops, those fire hawks. Now, through all the fires in Southern California, they have burned around 12,000 structures, many of them homes. This has been an incredibly destructive event. Unfortunately, too, we've seen the loss of life creep up as well. Eleven people confirmed dead.
And the L.A. County Sheriff saying 13 people are missing. Cal Fire adding that the Palisades Fire is 11% contained. L.A. Fire saying the Eaton Fire is 15% contained. Meantime, 400 National Guard troops deployed to assist law enforcement and prevent looting in the wake of all these fires. I embedded with the California National Guard as...
As they protect areas that have been just absolutely devastated by the wildfires, they are working around the clock again at some intersections, preventing people from going to the houses and businesses that have been destroyed. They're helping out in a lot of ways. They want to prevent looting and keep folks away from the downed power lines and gas leaks. Dangerous.
We're from this community too. All of our soldiers are from the California Army National Guard and we're right here close to home. So we really do feel for these people. Deployed Wednesday, some of them even sleeping nearby at a California Highway Patrol communication center. And that's Fox's Christina Coleman in Altadena, California. Several instances of shoplifting and looting have been recorded. Cops making at least 22 arrests so far. America's listening to Fox News.

President-elect Donald Trump sentenced Friday with no penalty in his New York criminal trial. After an historic trial, President-elect Trump's New York criminal case ended with no restrictions as he gets ready for his inauguration a little more than a week from now. The presiding judge, Juan Merchan, sentenced Trump to an unconditional discharge, meaning he'll get no fines, jail time or probation. Merchan called it the only lawful sentence he could give Trump. The considerable sentence.
Indeed, extraordinary legal protections afforded by the office of the chief executive is a factor that overrides all others. They do not reduce the seriousness of the crime or justify its commission in any way. Trump becomes the first president to take office with a felony conviction on his record. He attended the sentencing virtually.
And that's Fox's Madeline Rivera. The Senate advancing an act to crack down on illegal immigration using a bipartisan vote. The Lake and Riley Act named for a 22-year-old Georgia nursing student who was murdered by a now convicted illegal immigrant, passed through the House and advanced in the Senate, teeing up a final vote, despite opposition from some Democrats, while others support it, like Pennsylvania Senator John Fetterman. If you're here illegally and you're committing crimes and those things, I don't know why anybody thinks
that it's controversial that they all need to go. The Lake and Riley Act would require ICE to arrest criminal illegals and detain them until they're deported and allow states to sue members of the federal government who fail to enforce immigration laws.
Jeff Manosso, Fox News. Some 3,000 families could be booted out of FEMA hotels in the Carolinas today as a snowstorm hits FEMA. Telling Fox News Digital, they began notifying some families back on January 3rd that they are no longer eligible for the program due to one of the following reasons. An inspection said their home is okay now for habitation. They declined an inspection or FEMA couldn't contact them. I'm Paul Stevens. This is Fox News.
