Start to a big travel day. Gianna Gelosi, Fox News, a major airliner briefly grounded flights just as the Christmas travel season kicked into high gear. Fox Business Network's Max Gordon is at Los Angeles International. It has been touch and go for passengers flying American Airlines this morning. We've had that one hour ground stop. The airline saying that this is due to tech

issues with the vendor that they use. Luckily, that ground stop has now been lifted, but we are seeing some residual delays, especially at American Airlines hubs. FlightAware's Misery Map, which tracks delays and cancellations, seeing significant delays in Dallas, Charlotte, Miami. Those are three American Airlines hubs. We're also seeing delays and cancellations in Chicago, Washington, D.C., and New York. They say the holiday travel season is expected to set records.

FlightAware reporting more than 3,100 delays in the U.S. today and 44 cancellations. Former President Bill Clinton will be able to spend Christmas at home. The 78-year-old was discharged from the hospital earlier today after being treated for the flu. President Biden signed an

annual defense policy bill into law despite objections over a ban on transgender care. Fox's Jared Halpern. President Biden signed the National Defense Authorization Act, boosting military spending and providing significant pay raises for junior enlisted ranks.

But the measure also stripped language allowing transgender medical care for children and military families. That triggered strong opposition from Democrats and the president, who says no service members should have to decide between their family's health care access and their call to serve our nation. He also warned that provision undermines the military's ability to recruit and retain service members. In Washington, Jared Halpern, Fox News.

And President Biden is bailing on a student loan forgiveness plan as his term comes to a close. The administration plans to scrap two initiatives that would have erased the debt of 30 million borrowers. America's listening to Fox News.

A Second Amendment rights group is suing the state of Louisiana over a narrow permit requirement. Louisiana is generally a permit-free carry state, but one law still mandates that a carry permit is necessary to carry within certain areas, such as within 1,000 feet of a school.

But only a Louisiana resident is eligible for the permit. The Firearms Policy Coalition is now suing Louisiana in federal court to have that one aspect overturned, admitting that while the state generally has few restrictions on carrying one's weapon, this leaves non-residents open to being potentially defenseless and that Louisiana's law can't pass the Bruin test of history and tradition.

Eben Brown, Fox News. Parts of an Arkansas law that would criminally charge librarians for making certain materials accessible struck down. A federal judge ruled librarians and booksellers can't be held responsible for content displayed on shelves. A law was signed last year by Arkansas Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders that created a process to challenge and move some material where young children can't access it.

U.S. District Judge Timothy Brooks said the law could be seen as a means to force librarians pushed by fear of jail time to keep certain types of content off shelves. Libraries around Arkansas challenged the law, saying it could even determine which books are lent or sold. Arkansas Attorney General Tim Griffin said his office plans to appeal the ruling. Grinnell Scott, Fox News.

A Russian-born U.S. citizen already imprisoned in Russia on a bribery conviction has now been handed a second 15-year jail term for espionage. The new charges against Gene Spector were brought last year, but details surrounding them are under wraps. Spector, formerly an executive at a medical equipment company in Russia, was previously sentenced to three and a half years in prison in September of 2022 for enabling bribes to an aide of the former deputy prime minister. I'm Gianna Pelosi. This is Fox News.
