Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth plans to remove immediately former chairman of the Joint Chiefs, General Mark Milley's security detail, despite multiple threats on Milley's life from Iranian assassins resulting from his role in the
killing of the Iranian general Qasem Soleimani. White House Press Secretary Caroline Leavitt was asked if President Trump would take responsibility if anything happened to former officials like Mike Pompeo, John Bolton and Anthony Fauci, whose security the president also pulled.
Trump has said former government officials can't have security forever. Senator Tom Cotton, the Republican chairman of the Select Intelligence Committee, has questioned the decision to withdraw security at the Pentagon. Jennifer Griffin, Fox News. Federal judge temporarily blocking a push from President Trump to pause federal grant and loan funding for several programs while his administration conducts an across-the-board review. Fox News. Gender transitions for minors attacked by the latest presidential executive order. This new EO aims to protect children from what it calls experimental chemical and surgical mutilation. It orders agencies to use every available means to cut off any government participation in institutions that provide these kinds of surgeries. It also states taxpayers will no longer be funding transition surgeries through any federal employees insurance plans.
Fox's Jackie Heinrich reporting and a White House explanation about all those drone sightings. Press Secretary Caroline Leavitt opened the press briefing with an update, she says, that was directly from President Trump about drone sightings in November and December. The drones that were flying over New Jersey in large numbers were authorized to be flown by the FAA for research and various other reasons. Leavitt says other aircraft were hobbyist and amateurs.
