This is a Fox News alert. Still a rescue operation. I'm Carmen Roberts. Emergency crews have pulled 18 bodies from the Potomac River in D.C. where a commercial jet and Army helicopter collided last night. Jack Lyle lives nearby. One of the most tragic things was I saw them pull a body out. It was flag draped. So I assume that was one of the military personnel.

Search teams are still hopeful they will find survivors among the 49 others still missing. We have seen the search and rescue operation underway for the last several hours here on the banks of the Potomac. The search and rescue teams and their helicopters have been going up and down the Potomac using their spotlight looking for any sign of anyone that could have survived this crash as well as any debris that may have floated away from the original crash site.

One thing we also heard from the mayor is that how difficult the search conditions have been for the people that have been out here all night long. Fox says Mark Meredith on the scene. The American Airlines regional jet out of Wichita, Kansas, was carrying 60 passengers and four crew. The helicopter on a training flight had three soldiers on board. American Airlines says it has set up a go team to respond to the crisis.

and Reagan National Airport will be closed until 11 a.m. Friday. In other news, a Palestinian spokesperson says Hamas has completed procedures to hand over two Israeli hostages today. Red Cross vehicles have arrived in Gaza to accept the hostages, and Hamas was supposed to release three, and Israel is going to release 110 more Palestinian prisoners as part of the exchange program.

the third hostage exchange for this ceasefire. And the Federal Reserve's decision announced yesterday to leave interest rates unchanged may clash with President Trump, who says rates are too high. Vice President J.D. Vance tells Sean Hannity. Because, of course, if we can lower the cost of energy, we're going to make food and housing, groceries, everything else more affordable for American citizens. America's listening to Fox News.

So far, 18 bodies recovered. A West Virginia man and wife accused of neglecting their adopted children as well as forcing them to do hard labor.

is convicted by a jury.

The couple was arrested in 2023 after neighbors saw Lance lock two children in a shed and then leave the property. A deputy had to use a crowbar to get them out. Other officers found the rest of the children in filthy conditions.

The couple said they were trying to teach the children responsibility. The two have been convicted on human trafficking and other charges. Jill Nadeau, Fox News. The Senate confirms another Trump cabinet member. Lee Zeldin has been confirmed mostly along party lines. The former New York congressman will lead the EPA, and Republicans are hoping he can protect the environment without hurting the U.S. economy.

As President Trump pushes for energy independence, Democrats have issues with Zeldin's stance on climate change and other environmental issues. Zeldin has a 14 percent lifetime score with the League of Conservation Voters, which keeps track of environmental policy and how members of Congress vote. On Capitol Hill, Ryan Schmelz.

Fox News. And a 5.6 magnitude earthquake slammed Taiwan this morning, shaking buildings. During a series of quakes that hit the island, no immediate reports of injuries. I'm Carmen Roberts, and this is Fox News.
