Emergency crews have pulled 18 bodies from the Potomac River in D.C. where a commercial jet and Army helicopter collided last night. Jack Lyle lives nearby. One of the most tragic things was I saw them pull a body out. It was flag draped. So I assume that was one of the military personnel.
Search teams are still hopeful they will find survivors among the 49 others still missing. We have seen the search and rescue operation underway for the last several hours here on the banks of the Potomac. The search and rescue teams and their helicopters have been going up and down the Potomac using their spotlight looking for any sign of anyone that could have survived this crash as well as any debris that may have floated away from the original crash site.
One thing we also heard from the mayor is that how difficult the search conditions have been for the people that have been out here all night long. Fox says Mark Meredith on the scene. The American Airlines regional jet out of Wichita, Kansas, was carrying 60 passengers and four crew. The helicopter on a training flight had three soldiers on board. American Airlines says it has set up a go team to respond to the crisis.
