The former vice president returns to the spotlight as she weighs another run for elected office. Former Vice President Kamala Harris will speak in San Francisco at an event for Emerge America, an organization that encourages women to run for office. This will mark her first major address since her loss to President Trump, just as he marked 100 days of his second term. The former Democratic presidential nominee is expected to criticize
the Republican president's handling of the economy and foreign policy. Harris, a former senator and California attorney general, has not ruled out another run for the White House or a 2026 run for governor of the Golden State in what's become a crowded field to replace California Governor Gavin Newsom, who is term limited. Meanwhile, Newsom remains a top contender to potentially make his own 2028 White House bid.
Kristen Goodwin, Fox News. Democrats in Congress reintroduce a bill to ban assault weapons. We have seen mass shootings become so frequent that sometimes they fail to even register with the public. California Senator Adam Schiff singling out school shootings and calling for action to help protect children. The proposal would prohibit the purchase and possession of high-powered semi-automatic guns. A previous assault weapons ban expired.
More than 20 years ago, Missouri's high court upholds a voter-approved increase in the state minimum wage. The Missouri Supreme Court rejecting claims from business groups that a ballot measure approved by voters in November was misleading and thus unconstitutional.
Missouri voters approved Prop A by nearly 60 percent. That'll gradually increase the state's minimum wage to $15 an hour by next year, with annual inflationary adjustments in subsequent years.
