Clearly, this was a loss in round one for the Trump White House and the Justice Department after this federal judge, a Reagan appointed judge, called this executive order blatantly unconstitutional. Washington state in the hearing was in Seattle today. Washington state is one of 22 states asking for this temporary restraining order to stop this executive order that redefines

Lawyers for a Massachusetts woman charged in the death of her police officer boyfriend want money back from one of their trial witnesses. Court documents show Karen Reed's defense attorneys are asking for more than $12,000 back in fees and travel costs for an expert witness.
Reed's lawyers say they need original footage to verify a damaged taillight on Reed's SUV. An improper preservation by the Commonwealth led to that footage being destroyed, making the expert's appearance not helpful to the case.
Reid is accused of hitting Boston officer John O'Keefe with her SUV after a party where drinks were served. He later died. Reid's attorneys say O'Keefe was killed elsewhere at that home, then dragged outside. A jury deadlocked on charges last year. Reid will be retried in April.
Fox's Grinnell Scott, a suburban Seattle police officer has just been sentenced to more than 16 years in prison for the 2019 shooting death of a homeless man he was trying to arrest for disorderly conduct. It's the first conviction under a Washington state law that made it easier to prosecute officers for on-duty killings. The officer had claimed self-defense.
There's a new Ford recall. It's more than 272,000 Ford vehicles with 12-volt batteries that can fail suddenly. Found in some 2021 to 23 Broncos and 2022 23 Mavericks. Could cause a loss of drive power or a stall when slowing to a stop. And electric accessories like hazard lights might stop working. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration says dealers will inspect and replace the battery if necessary for free. Some owners who've replaced the battery themselves already may be eligible for compensation.
