Another court appearance. I'm Tom Rigotti, Fox News. The man accused of gunning down UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson in the middle of Manhattan appears in court again today. Fox's Alexis McAdams is there. This was the first time that Luigi Mangione was able to go in front of a judge for his state cases. So there's a federal case and a state case, and that's why he was here at the Supreme Court in New York City.
He appears to be pretty calm, as calm as someone can be that's facing murder charges here. He was asked for his plea by the judge and he said not guilty. There are two separate cases against him. Let's start at the state level. Mangione hit with three murder charges in New York, including murder and the second degree as a crime of terrorism. And what looked like something out of a
scene of a movie. Mangione was flown into New York City. He's walking in his orange jumpsuit and shackles. His legal team saying this is an example of why he might not get a fair trial in New York because of all the publicity.
The chairman of the House Ethics Committee did not support the panel's release of a scathing report on former Congressman Matt Gaetz. Fox's Jared Halpin has more from D.C. House Ethics Committee Chairman Republican Michael Guest says while he does not challenge the panel's findings about former Congressman Matt Gaetz, he does take great exception to the majority's vote to release a report on an individual no longer under the committee's jurisdiction.
He says releasing the report is a dangerous departure with potentially catastrophic consequences. The Ethics Committee is equally divided between Republicans and Democrats. The committee says it discovered substantial evidence of Gates using illicit drugs and paying women for sex, including a 17-year-old girl. In Washington, Jared Halpern, Fox News. The United Nations has raised the death count of a recent massacre in Haiti. Officials say over 200 older people were killed by a gang earlier this month. The UN says the gang took people from their homes and from a place of worship, interrogated them, and then executed them.
Human rights groups in Haiti say the massacre began after the son of the leader of the Wharf, Jeremy Gang, died from an illness. Iran is facing an energy crisis which could push the nation's economy to collapse. Fox's Stephanie Bennett with the story.

Homes are left in darkness and industrial plants have been denied power. The New York Times reports that 17 power plants had completely taken offline this week and the rest were only partially operational as of last Friday. Iran's currency has fallen to its lowest level in history, losing more than 10 percent of its value since President-elect Trump won the election in November.
Nearly 200 people were rescued after a gondola malfunctions at a Colorado ski resort. Officials at Winter Park Resort west of Denver are investigating what caused a crack in a ski lift over the weekend, stranding 174 skiers and snowboarders on gondolas for hours. Ski Patrol says the chairlift system automatically stopped when it detected a malfunction.
Every rider was brought down to safety by ropes and harnesses, and no injuries were reported. Footage circulating online shows multiple people, including a child, being brought down to safety.
