Winter is hitting Americans hard from the Midwest to the East Coast. I'm Dave Anthony, Fox News. A storm blanketed Kansas moving east. We also have a pretty thick layer of ice that's currently under all of this snow, which has made things very treacherous. We know that a lot of the roads, unfortunately, are not as good as they used to be.

We picked up 11 inches of snow at Kansas City International Airport on Sunday. That was, in fact, the third largest single-day snowfall total that we've ever seen here. A third of all flights out of KC are canceled today. And in all, there are more than 1,300 flight cancellations.
There are also a lot of schools closed and more than 250,000 power outages from Missouri to Virginia. Washington, D.C. could get a foot of snow, but Congress still plans a joint session to certify a presidential vote via the Electoral College. It is on this day a campaign victory becomes official. The last time the two chambers of Congress met to perform this task was in 2021, the day in which a mob intervened.

The FBI says the Shamsuddin Jabbar traveled to Egypt and Canada in 2023, and they're looking into how that may or may not have tied into the attack.

Two weeks before he leaves office, President Biden has signed a bill the last Congress approved. The bill is intended to raise Social Security pension payments to former public service workers, such as police officers, firefighters, and teachers. Payment rises will mirror Social Security cost of living adjustments. President Biden said prior to signing the bill, it won't just mean changes moving forward. Over two and a half million Americans are going to receive a lump sum payment
of thousands of dollars to make up for the shortfall in the benefits they should have gotten in 2024. The rise in payments come as Social Security faces some uncertainty. Reports show fully paid benefits could be unavailable as soon as 2035.
