Five wildfires keep scorching the Los Angeles area where five people are dead.

All of these, about a thousand homes and businesses in the Palisades, all destroyed. A lot of Malibu has gone too, and other communities around L.A. One of the other fires also burned down a thousand other homes and buildings. But today things might get better. With the winds down and the helicopters up and almost double the number of firefighters, it's making a difference. President-elect Trump blames the wildfire disaster on Governor Gavin Newsom, calling for him to resign. One can't even respond to it. Newsom, a Democrat, tells CNN he won't get political. People have lost their lives. Kids.

Now more on the last day of public tribute for former President Jimmy Carter, who will be laid to rest later today. Former President Jimmy Carter's casket will be escorted away from Capitol Hill and taken to Washington National Cathedral for a funeral honoring the nation's 39th president, President-elect Trump.
President Biden and a number of former presidents and first ladies are expected to attend. Carter will then be taken to Plains, Georgia for a ceremony at the Baptist Church where he taught Sunday school before he's buried alongside his wife and former first lady, Rosalynn Carter.
