As the investigation into the driver of the pickup truck that plowed into New Year's partygoers continues. Investigators have been looking into Shamsuddin Jabbar's travel history to get a better idea of how and when he might have been radicalized. And two trips that they are looking at is a week-long visit the U.S. Army veteran made to Cairo, Egypt in June of 2023, and then a
three-day trip to Ontario, Canada he made a week later. We have also learned Jabbar made at least two trips to New Orleans last year. In October, the FBI says he recorded videos wearing meta smart glasses while riding a bike through the French Quarter and down Bourbon Street. Fox's Garrett Tenney in New Orleans. Jabbar, an Army veteran from Texas, was shot and killed by police.
The New York judge overseeing President-elect Trump's hush money trial has denied Trump's request to delay sentencing while his lawyers appeal. Manhattan Judge Juan Merchan has ordered sentencing to proceed as scheduled Friday, a little more than a week before Trump's inauguration. Earlier this afternoon, Trump's election was certified. Vice President Kamala Harris presided over a joint session of the House and Senate as each state's electoral result was reported.
As the count was complete, Harris did what just a few of her predecessors have done before, declaring her opponent the election winner. Donald J. Trump of the state of Florida has received 312 votes. The certification was without any objection.

Maryland authorities will begin readying for the rebuild of the Francis Scott Key Bridge in Baltimore, which collapsed after being struck by a cargo ship last year. Pre-construction activities are scheduled to begin for the project to rebuild Baltimore's Francis Scott Key Bridge.
The span which carried I-695 over Baltimore Harbor was destroyed when the container ship Dolly struck one of its support piers last March. Six people were killed. Work to begin this week includes topography studies and soil sampling with actual construction scheduled to commence this coming spring. The entire project to build a new bridge is expected to take three years.
