A man accused of setting a sleeping woman on fire on a New York City subway train has appeared in court. Sebastian Zepeda has pleaded not guilty to murder and arson charges in connection with the killing of Dabrina Kawam. Prosecutors say Kawam was asleep on a train that was stopped at a Brooklyn station when Zepeda lit her on fire on December 22nd.

Zepeda, who is a Guatemalan national in the U.S. illegally after being deported in 2018, is accused of fanning the flames with a T-shirt before sitting on a platform bench and watching Kawam burn.
