Bracing for the return of the Santa Anas, I'm Lisa Lucera, Fox News. L.A. Fire Chief Kristen Crowley says the hurricane force winds pose a renewed threat to areas already scorched by fire, but they're prepared. I've staffed all available L.A.F.D. resources ahead of this wind event.
And it's already underway. And she says... There are pre-positioned engines, strike teams, task forces across the city to make sure that we have the ability to rapidly respond. In all, more than 20 people have died in the fires that have consumed Southern California. The L.A. Sheriff says three people have been arrested for flying drones in the area of the fires. And the FBI is seeking information on the operator of a drone that interfered with a firefighting plane last week.
The special counsel investigating charges against President Biden's son, Hunter, has released his final report. Special counsel David Weiss not holding back, writing, I prosecuted the two cases against Mr. Biden because he broke the law. He continues, I determined not only that he had committed federal offenses...
but also that a faithful jury would be more likely to convict him than acquit him, and that no other factors individually or collectively counseled against prosecution. Now, David Weiss charged Hunter Biden in Delaware for gun charges. He was convicted by a jury for lying on a firearms form when he said he was not addicted to drugs or alcohol. In California, he was charged with tax crimes, but that never went to trial. He pleaded guilty last fall. Fox's David Spund at the Justice Department. President Biden.
pardoned Hunter last month after he had said that he would not. A federal judge has cleared the way for the Justice Department to release special counsel Jack Smith's report on President-elect Trump's 2020 election interference case. The ruling from U.S. District Judge Aileen Cannon, who was appointed by Trump. Cannon had earlier temporarily blocked the department from releasing the report. America's listening to Fox News.

Greenland's governing state says it's ready to talk Arctic security with the U.S. Denmark says it recognizes that the U.S. has security interests in the Arctic and it's ready to talk about them to President-elect Donald Trump.
The issue was raised last week when President-elect Trump again insisted the US needed control over Greenland, which is an autonomous part of Denmark. He refused to rule out military or economic coercion. Danish Foreign Minister Lars Løkke Rasmussen saying he shares American concerns about Russian and Chinese ships operating in the Arctic.
Denmark, though, continues to insist that resource-rich Greenland is not for sale. Jonathan Savage, Fox News. A Hawaii climate lawsuit will proceed after the Supreme Court opted to stay out of the matter for now. The U.S. Supreme Court has declined to hear from oil and gas companies seeking to block climate change lawsuits filed in state courts.
In addition to Honolulu, governments in California, Colorado and New Jersey are seeking billions of dollars in damages trying to hold oil and gas companies responsible for wildfires, rising sea levels and severe storms.
The companies argue the emissions are a national issue that should be decided in federal courts. The Biden administration argued it's fair to keep the action in state court at this point. The incoming Trump administration is expected to take a sharply different approach to energy.

The announcement will now be made January 23rd. The Oscars are still scheduled to go on on March 2nd. The Writers Guild of America has postponed announcing their nominees until further notice.
