This is a Fox News alert gathering information. I'm Lisa Lucera. The National Transportation Safety Board has recovered one data recorder from the American Airlines flight as the investigation into the deadly crash between the American Airlines commuter jet and a Blackhawk helicopter gets underway. The NTSB is just getting started on its look at this deadly accident. Board member Todd Inman promises... We will help find out what happened.

We will do it factually and we will do it accurately. Inman said those facts will come from looking at the conditions, the crew's preparation, and internal systems of both involved aircraft. Also important will be air traffic control amid reports of staffing issues and what Inman called survival factors. Documentation of impact, forces and injuries, community emergency planning, and all crash and fire rescue efforts. A preliminary report is expected in about a month.

Full findings usually take more than a year to compile. Fox's Grinnell Scott, the identities of some of the victims of the doomed aircraft have been released. Cadet Ryan O'Hara was the Blackhawks crew chief, a husband and father. His Georgia high school remembered his time in junior ROTC and on the rifle team.

Sam Lilly was Flight 5342's first officer. He was planning his wedding and began flying in 2019 like his Army veteran father. Fox's Griff Jenkins at Reagan National Airport. U.S. Figure Skating says 14 members of its community were on the American Airlines flight.

President Trump's picked to leave the FBI, Kash Patel, before a Senate panel this afternoon as his confirmation process begins. You can say whatever you want about me. If I'm confirmed, bring it on. But you will not denigrate the men and women of the FBI that saved this country. Patel, a close ally of President Trump, has faced criticism over past remarks about the FBI. America is listening to Fox News.

A Washington state lawmaker doubles down on a push to require all clergy members in her state to report child abuse. A Washington state Senate bill would require priests to report child abuse they learn about through confession. All clergy should report child abuse and neglect no matter what context in which they learn that information. Washington state Senator Noelle Frame, who proposed it, tells Seattle's Fox 13 News she's a sexual abuse survivor. Bishop Frank Schuster of the Archdiocese of Seattle says the mandate violates religious vows.

The penitent has the right to confess their sins without worrying their sins will become public. The penalty for breaking that seal is excommunication. The Washington State Catholic Conference echoing this. If religious communities don't want to put members of their clergy into an impossible situation, then they can change their doctrine and their rules. Frame stressing it's about protecting children.

Kristen Goodwin, Fox News. A disappointing reading on economic growth for the holiday quarter. The economy expanded at a slower than expected pace at the end of last year, though Americans continued to spend. The gross domestic product rose 2.3 percent in the fourth quarter. Economists were anticipating a 2.5 percent increase. Even though that number was weaker than forecast, consumer spending rose 4.2 percent in the quarter.

There were fewer people filing for unemployment benefits last week. New claims declined by 16,000 to 207,000. Continuing claims, those remaining on benefits declined by 42,000 to 1.85 million.

Ginny Kosola, Fox News. India doubled its tiger population in a little over a decade by protecting them from poaching and habitat loss, making sure they have enough prey, reducing human-wildlife conflict, and increasing communities' living standards near tiger areas. That's according to a new study. India now home to about 70% of the global tiger population. I'm Lisa LaSera. This is Fox News.
