Another hostage release. I'm Daria Albinger, Fox News. Hamas has released at least five Israeli hostages, could release a sixth as well. Fox's Chandli Painter says it's in line with the latest ceasefire agreement. The final handover of captives in the first phase of the ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas. The six include Abira Mengitu and Hisham al-Sahid.

who have been held by Hamas for nearly a decade after entering the strip on their own in 2014 and 2015. The other four hostages were taken on October 7, 2023, and include a father, Tal Shoham, and three young men kidnapped from the Nova Music Festival, Omer Shimtov, Omer Winkirk, and Alia Cohen.

Israel is expected to release 602 Palestinians once the six Israelis are freed as part of the latest ceasefire agreement with Hamas. The Los Angeles fire chief is out of a job. Mayor Bass firing Chief Crowley effective immediately. She put out a statement which says in part, quote, We know that 1,000 firefighters that could have been on duty the morning the fires broke out were instead sent home on Chief Crowley's watch.

Chief Crowley had previously said that Mayor Bass's slashing of millions of dollars from the fire department budget would reduce the department's effectiveness and ability to respond to wildfires. Mayor Bass, on her end, in recent days had been blaming Chief Crowley for not warning her about the fire risk before she left for her trip to Africa.

That's Fox's Bill Maluj, and Mayor Bass says an interim chief will be on duty in the meantime as a search for a permanent new fire chief for Los Angeles begins. America is listening to Fox News.

President Trump had plenty to say to the nation's governors as they visited the White House yesterday, especially one of them who says she does not plan to follow his guidelines for transgender athletes competing in women's sports. On the domestic front, a standout moment happened as President Trump spoke to state governors. He was remarking on executive action that he took, then called out Maine's Democratic governor, Janet Mills. Are you not going to comply with it?

I'm complying with state and federal laws. After the exchange, the Department of Education announced it has launched an investigation into potential Title IX violations by the state of Maine. Depending on how this fight goes, Maine stands to lose up to $250 million in federal funding.

That's Fox's Alexander Hoff. No, they don't deserve a new trial. That from L.A.'s top prosecutor to Lyle and Eric Menendez, who want their murder convictions overturned. L.A. County District Attorney Nathan Hockman rejecting Eric and Lyle Menendez's bid to challenge their murder convictions, citing evidence including a letter Eric wrote detailing alleged sexual abuse by his father. Sexual abuse in this situation, while it may have been a motivation,

for Eric and Lyle to do what they did does not constitute self-defense. Recommending a judge deny their request for a new trial and saying he's reviewing a separate effort for the two to be resentenced to a lesser term. The brothers are serving life in prison for the 1989 fatal shootings of their parents, Kitty and Jose. They maintain they feared for their lives after threatening to expose the alleged abuse. Kristen Goodwin, Fox News.

A judge will take up that resentencing request in March. A Border Patrol agent who was killed in a traffic stop in Vermont will be buried today with full military honors. David Malland was shot on I-91 by a suspect who was tied to a cult that was linked to multiple deaths. I'm Daria Albinger. This is Fox News.
