The Federal Aviation Administration says it's begun reviewing airports with high volumes of mixed helicopter and airplane traffic after last week's fatal collision near Reagan National Airport in Washington. 67 people were killed in the crash between a Black Hawk helicopter and an American Airlines regional jet.
Prompting the review, President Trump spoke about the tragedy and air traffic control at the National Prayer Breakfast. We should have had better equipment. We don't. We have obsolete equipment. The FAA has been briefing lawmakers like Democratic Senator Amy Klobuchar. They're really trying to make sure they get every single detail so that we can come up with solutions, not only for this airport and this airspace,
but also nationally. The FAA's put restrictions on helicopters around Reagan National until at least late February. Fox's Jill Nadeau in Washington, a judge has temporarily blocked President Trump's plan to offer federal employees an incentive to resign. The gunman who has not been identified was later found dead with a large amount of ammunition on him and three guns next to his body.
The Boy Scouts see an uptick in membership after rebranding. The Boy Scouts of America changed their title to Scouting America after participation plummeted during the COVID pandemic and the organization declared bankruptcy. The Scouts have also been plagued by sexual abuse scandals. Leadership has since attempted to revamp the organization's image and it appears to be paying off.
