You're fired. I'm Daria Albinger, Fox News. The pink slips will be going out very soon for thousands of workers at the U.S. Agency for International Development. The Trump administration is eliminating 2,000 positions. It's placing all but a fraction of the other staffers around the globe on leave. The move comes after a federal judge, Carl Nichols,
ruled on Friday that the White House could move forward with the firings. Nichols rejected arguments in a lawsuit from employees that said ending the jobs would cause undue economic and other harm to them. President Trump's chief cost cutter, Elon Musk, said the aid development and the work that the agency did is wasteful and it furthers a liberal agenda.
The Vatican says Pope Francis continues to make small improvements as he recovers from double pneumonia. And they say at this point, small improvements are a big deal. But they say the pontiff is still in critical condition. He was admitted back on February 14th and has been getting treatment for double pneumonia and a complex lung infection. But it hasn't stopped him from posting on social media where he thanked people from
all over the world for their closeness and their prayers. There are a few factors impacting his condition and his road to recovery. He is 88 years old and doctors have said his age alone makes his condition a bit touch and go. And that's Fox's Jeff Paul. The Palestinian Prisoner Society says Israel has delayed the expected release of hundreds of Palestinian prisoners and detainees until further notice.
Prime Minister's office in Israel confirming it, demanding guarantees that future hostage releases take place without what they describe as humiliating ceremonies. Hostages are often paraded on stage before crowds, before they're turned over to IDF officials. This development could make an already shaky ceasefire agreement in Gaza even more so. Exit polls are showing the conservative Christian Democrats are on track to win. A huge cheer ran through the conservative party's headquarters as the first exit polls were announced. The frontrunner, Friedrich Merz,
thanked voters on their projected victory, saying he knows the scale of the work ahead. Elise Weidel of the far-right anti-immigration Alternative for Germany, or AFD Party, is tipped to come second with exit polls showing a record number of votes. Top campaign issues were the German economy, still Europe's largest but struggling, pressure to curb migration and growing uncertainty over the handling of Ukraine. This was a snap election after the previous government collapsed.
The current German chancellor and the leader of the Social Democratic Party, Olaf Scholz, took responsibility for his party's poor election showing. Fox's Stephanie Bennett.
