Islamic terror group Hamas releasing three Israeli hostages earlier this morning. The sixth hostage for prisoner swap under the ongoing ceasefire agreement between the jihadist group and Israel. The hostages are all male, including an American Israeli citizen. Hamas backed down from a threat
to delay the hostage release, accusing Israel of failing to meet its aid obligations under the ceasefire. Israel rejected those claims and threatened to resume the war. And that's Fox's Chandlee Painter. Israel releasing over 300 Palestinian prisoners, some of which were serving life sentences.
A federal judge extending a ban on the Department of Government Efficiencies' access to some Treasury Department records. New York City planning to sue the Trump White House over the secret take back of more than $80 million in migrant funding. The legal counsel for the administration of New York City Mayor Eric Adams issued a letter to city comptroller Brad Lander on Friday. It states that the city's law department is looking to take legal action by February 21st to recoup $80.5 million in FEMA payments. The feds reversed on Tuesday.
Lander accusing the president and Doge, led by billionaire Elon Musk, of a highway robbery. Musk has claimed massive fraud after Doge discovered a $59 million FEMA payment to the Big Apple was being wasted on luxury hotels in New York City to house illegal migrants. Deborah Valentine, Fox News.
News. And that withdrawal apparently took place without the knowledge of Mayor Adams. The U.S. Army bans transgender individuals from enlisting and that's effective immediately. The Army confirmed the policy shift in a post on X stating all new ascensions for individuals with a history of gender dysphoria are paused. All unscheduled, scheduled or planned medical procedures associated with affirming or facilitating a gender transition for service members are paused.
The policy change is sparking concern among advocacy groups and legal experts. Six active duty service members have already filed a lawsuit challenging the ban. Tom Rigotti, Fox News. Schools who still have COVID-19 vaccine mandates are now banned from getting federal funds. President Trump signing an executive order to that end on Friday.
It's not clear how many schools will be affected by the vaccine order. Statewide student vaccine mandates were actually rare. Some colleges started requiring students to be immunized against COVID-19 during the pandemic, but most have since dropped those requirements. The order applies only to COVID-19 vaccines.
